Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks Sazzlesa TwighlightS for advice on the cramping. I got a bit concerned today about it today again so I decided to call the midwife. Anyway she said it sounded like Braxton Hicks contractions and I should go a put my feet up for a while and rest. I wasn't sure if they started at this stage but she said anytime from 20wks onwards for some women. Feel a bit better tonight. Think I need to slow down a bit as well, probably been charging about a bit too much and not acknowledging huge bump and matching boobs that are now very much a part of me. .

Karney I've had braxton hicks for several weeks now. They were REALLY strong during my last big growth spurt (afterwhich everyone started commenting on my bump). Rest helped me the most. Now they come and go. I've noticed the baby doesn't move around when I have them.

Just for the record I had another DOG today...hotdog that is.

It would take a lot to get thrown off this thread!!

I've had such a crap day with a sprinkle of good. DD, finally, rode a pony tonight at the festival (a good moment). DD's urologist agreed with ME stating her UTI's where linked to tinkle-BEHAVIOR-issues NOT physical problems (a good moment...but makes me with her pediatrician). Everything else was CRAP more or less. Just glad to be home now, in bed, about to snooze!!!

Updated the list with bits from today's conversations about names and VBAC/CSections. Dizzy let me when you find out if they're putting you away or slicing you open and I'll update you accordingly.

NIGHT

TS you're too good to us - we could never throw you off this thread!

Dh has planned 5 hours for himself watching Sky Sports today . Man U v Chelsea followed by the usual saturday afternoon football from 3-5pm. That'll be fun. No idea what ds and I can do, rest assured we won't be sat on our asses watching TV..........(although that would be nice!)

I had my cs because ds was breech. They couldn't try ECV because he had his cord round his neck. Apparently (and I only found this out at my most recent scan), they swapped surgeons half way through my cs because they were having difficulty getting ds out and had to extend the incision line. No idea what that means for next arrival but am seeing cons at 30 weeks so will ask then.

What a glorious sunny day - better get dressed and enjoy it eh?

VintageGardenia · 26/04/2008 12:01

Hi,

Gosh I wouldn't mind 5 hours in front of the tv today, I'd watch my Cranford DVD (one episode only seen so far) and drink tea and have a trained masseur attend to my feet, neck, shoulders and hands using delicately scented oils while I lay on a comfortable sofa holding the remote control and losing weight. And I would be delivered different types of freshly made smoothies and juices throughout. Meanwhile in a nearby armchair DS would be reading a book and laughing quietly at some bits and occasionally scratching the tummy of whichever dog lay on his lap (having earlier engaged in strenuous sporting activity of course). DP would be leafing through Mothercare catalogue stopping at my Post-Its and agreeing with all -my- your pushchair suggestions and occasionally laying a warm hand on my tummy to feel the baby kicking gently, when suddenly the phone rings and it's someone telling us we have a massive tax overpayment, cheque is in the post.

Oh oh oh and then we look at the deeds of the house to check something and suddenly realise we own the field next door which we had thought was someone else's.

Well... it MIGHT happen

Alternatively we might go for a walk on the pier with able-bodied dogs and visiting brother & family.

karney · 26/04/2008 12:30

Hi TS glad you posted that cos I don,t feel the baby when I,m having Braxton Hicks which did tend to add to my anxiety. Anyway I think I,m going through a growth spurt too. People who haven,t seen me for a week have been commenting on the bump and I just feel kinda space hopper-ish!
I,m off to imagine that its a lovely sunny day here and I don't have to go to Specsavers to help my pal pick new glasses, of an afternoon xxxx

TwilightSurfer · 26/04/2008 13:30

Karney, glad I could help. It all stressed me at first too. The BHs where way stronger and started way earlier than with my first child. But clearly the little one stays very calm and still during the squeezing.

Captain your DH and mine have the same idea in mind today HOWEVER mine was roped into one chore before he realized it. Seems today is the NFL Draft. That's HUGE in the US. Men from all walks of life sit and watch as young college football studs are chosen to play on the elite private NFL teams. YAWN!! The chore: Help me take all three of our male cats to our vet friend's office for shots. That's about 55 lbs of feline, a task I can't manage by my self. If two hadn't been beaten up by another male cat bully recently I would just have our friend come here to check them but I'm afraid they'll need a little extra attention.

VG I was quite taken by your post.

As usual we are late waking this morning. DD has a soccer game in 90min and she's still undressed and unfed. We are out of pancakes (frozen ones) so we'll be stopping at McDonald's in our rush to the YMCA.

Oh....I must share one other story. Seems life is just full of surprises and early this morning was no exception. I stumbled out of bed to tinkle and plopped down on the toilet FULL OF WATER......we had a minor clog it seems. So at 4:30am I'm playing plumber. I think it's all fixed now but GEEZ when can my world resemble VG's post!!

Good morning everyone! DH has gone to collect a valet hanger which he ordered at a furniture shop a couple of weeks ago. As bad habits go, buying a valet hanger isn't really terrible and I am trying to convince myself that it is retro chic. (picture here for those of you unfamiliar with the concept).

I was having a lie in on the sofa, but he called me from the lift saying that the building fumigator was coming so now I am dressed and decent.

But then some nice shopping - to a cheap shopping area to look for some vests/baby gros and then to a wedding tonight (just the church bit, but it's at at 9pm! I may fall asleep if the bride doesn't arrive on time).

I will be wearing this dress (although not in a size 8!) My sister told me to buy it a while ago (I am rubbish at shopping for clothes) and actually it looks a bit like a bag but it is now accessorised very nicely by a bump and a shawl and so I think that I will feel quite pretty.

la la la la la.

CaptainCaveman · 26/04/2008 14:56

Well so far he has watched one game of footie whilst ds and I have put his enormous Thomas train set together, played it and dismantled it again. Ds is now trying to strangle me whilst dh mows the lawn. bored bored bored Can I come to your house VG and be pampered too?

Oh, and we found a dead cat in our garden this morning - not ours thankfully - but no collar on so we have no idea whose it is. Hmmm. It's currently stiff as a board in one of the outhouses....any suggestions bar cat casserole??

dizzydixies · 26/04/2008 16:20

afternoon girls

lovely day here, after some rain on and off this morning

took the dc to Seaworld this morning so have had choruses of Nemo all morning
the girls and I slept in the car coming home though so dh has decided its his turn to fall sleep on couch

about to talk dcs dog out for a walk to tire her out then battle of tea - girls had a bath this morning to try to remove the ridiclious amount of green pen from dd2 so at least I don't have that to do tonight!!

hope everyone well and enjoying their weekend

CaptainCaveman · 26/04/2008 17:38

Been to town for another unsuccessful shopping trip, looking for shorts. Dh has now taken ds out to the park to feed the ducks so have peace and quiet for 5 mins.....
Also just bought a 'belly belt' thingy - like a trouser expander?? Hope to be able to wear my regular shorts with this!

Yumm, take away curry for tea - am off to lounge on the settee before the peace is shattered!!

Hi all, I second that eeeew for the cat and the loo (although our loo frequently gets like that - think it's DH flushing tissues.)

We've had busy day buying laminate for baby's room, doing 2hr shift on nappy and Mooncup info stall at 'Environmental Rock' (think hippy Guardian reader version of Sazzles' spring fair - pagan morris dancers and eco stalls) then whizzing into town. Got to try on the teal maxi dress in Monsoon which will certainly fit ok in 6wks time (stuffed my t-shirt up it!) but will make me look like one giant turquoise blob with eyepopping cleavage. Thinking maybe top and bottoms in different colours may be less attention-grabbing.

TwilightSurfer · 26/04/2008 21:34

You ladies find all the prettiest dress up clothes. I've no wear to go in such lovely dresses. Still holding on to the one I purchased at the beginning of this pregnancy...JUST IN CASE. It probably won't fit if an occasion arises.

Buckets I think our loo issue was excess TP too. As much as I understand plumbing, it still often makes me scratch my head and go hmmmm, "how did that happen?"

Sazzles anybody could do whatever the wanted to the list and I'd not flinch one bit.....I have the master list on my hard-drive. "Go ahead. Make my day." Actually I've been checking out the lists on some other threads. Just seeing how they handle BIRTHS!!! That's just around the corner. All those July planned CSections and/or preemies will be here before you know it.

Captain is there something in your garden we need to worry about?? Oh and don't fuss over finding shorts in the UK. You'll have so much fun finding them in Florida....a place that has loads of them all year round. Take full advantage of our declining dollar and shop till you drop!! By the way, I'm very tempted to join you in the Magic Kingdom. DH & DD would love me BIG TIME if I said "LET's GO!" The squid i'm carrying might not react quite the same way during the 10 hour trip.

I will happily post our trip to the vet went very well. All three boys did nicely despite the fact that the two I thought were fine had sicknesses that required a dose of yukky meds and the one I thought was sick just has anxiety issues. Aren't you glad I'm not your pet's vet. DD is now napping. DH is out taking his car to the carwash. And I'm propped up in the bed with my laptop eating chocolates. Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 26/04/2008 21:39

I was wondering the same TS - our next door neighbours grown up son is a bit 'odd', and it did cross my mind today whether he had hurt the cats, or maybe given them something they shouldn't have had? Can't prove anything. This other cat was about 15 yards away from where we found our MAlley .
Good plan re shopping too! Will definately hit the 'malls' when we get over there. We will be in Orlando for our second week - think we arrive there Fri 16th May. Seems odd that Disney is a closer plane trip for me than it is a journey for you!

TwilightSurfer · 26/04/2008 21:56

If we hopped a plane out of Chattanooga it'd only be a two hour flight. I've done it before when I nannied..years and years ago. It's the driving from here to there that's soooooo long.

If I could shop in Florida today I would. So many great shops for cool summer clothes. I always wait to get my holiday clothing needs there. DH just thinks I like to shop but I think it's just smarter to get stuff there. It is, after all, the SUNSHINE STATE!

Well I guess I've hit an all time cooking low. Tonight I served my family dinner at 9:15PM. The menu: Hot Cinnamon Rolls, Bacon and a Tall Glass of Milk. There were absolutely no complaints but surely in the backs of their minds they had to be thinking 'this lady is crazy.'

DD just put on her Curious George movie and plans to bunk in the guest room tonight. God bless portable DVD players!!!

Sazzles, if you only knew my boy cat ABE. Five years old, he's a HUGE beautiful blue tabby with LONG talons for claws, weighing in at 20 pounds and is afraid of his own shadow. He developed a sore on his hip that I "thought" was a scratch or bite from a stray whom I "thought" he'd -run- -from- tussled with. The sore healed and another appeared (repeat, repeat). This has gone on for two weeks. I began to think he had some strange illness thus the trip to the vet. After checking him over, she concluded he's biting himself. You see he grooms himself constanty (as well as every other cat near him). you haven't figured it out yet, he's quite GAY. Anyway she thinks he may have gotten a flea bite (with all the early warm weather) and that sent him over the edge with the cleaning/grooming thing. We're starting him on his flea meds earlier than normal to see if that ends his compulsion. {{Twilight shakes her head in disbelief that she just shared that story will the world.}}

Fingers crossed I'll get to sleep in tomorrow. NIGHT

lol sazz, no joy for you on the lie in either then?!? dh tried to let me have one yesterday but I am now at the stage where I am in PAIN if I don't get up and go to the toilet so I gave up. This morning I didn't make it to 4am without having to go and he was up and away to work at 6am. The girls at least played happily until after 7am although when I did go through it was to a snot explosion and dirty nappy

lol, good luck with that, mine are in the playroom/study/laundry drying area/dumping ground bit (depends on which purpose we need it for) but can't seem to do anything without arguing so am going to have to stop ignoring them at some point and take them out - it looks quite nice here though which is a bonus

dh working till 4pm which is pants but never mind, we had a nice day yesterday

am still doing my nut about these prams though as keep getting conflicting advice all over the place
