welcome Eleta, i am interested in photography, do you do portraits or something else? when is your due date?

Eleta · 23/04/2008 10:16

Thanks bethoo. My due date is 12th Oct but as I have had 2 prev sections (so this one will be too) I think I will be delivered about the 5th. I do pregnancy and newborn photography mostly but also young children's lifestyle photography. I am not touting for business however

bethoo · 23/04/2008 10:40

so did you do courses? i looked into doing night courses but not any in this area!

kookiegoddess · 23/04/2008 11:42

anyone waking at about 4.30 am feeling ravenous?? it's driving me nuts as it makes me feel even more tired than usual - trying not to nap during the day but think I might have to sneak a little one in. Should I be getting up to eat something? I've been trying to stay in bed in the hopes of falling back to sleep quickly but generally I wake up for about an hour... GRR! Great to hear lots of scans going well, I get my blood results back in a couple of weeks, hope to hear the heartbeat then.

Jambers99 · 23/04/2008 11:54

Hi everyone, and welcome to Eleta. Congrats to Lozza on hearing the heartbeat and Smudgey on the scan. Smudgey - I also had my date put back a week at my first scan. Looking at it positively, at least it means they're less likely to induce you. If your due date hadn't been moved they'd have been trying to persuade you to be induced before the baby was ready.

I didn't feel the baby move until about 22 weeks first time round, and even then I found it really hard to tell the difference between general stomach gurgling and the baby moving! So not holding out much hope for spotting any movements early this time.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/04/2008 12:39

Welcome Eleta - I recognise you from the bf calendar thread. Your pics are stunning.

Great news on the scan and the m/w appointment Smudgey and Lozza.

Yuk at the thought of eating hideous highly processed hot dogs. They should be banned at all times, not just in pregnancy!
Banning coleslaw is taking things a step too far though, and I shall be ignoring that resolutely.

hansnava · 23/04/2008 14:11

hello all.
had scan today and everything was fine i am soo happy i feel like a weight has been lifted off of me. my dp came with me and was kinda taken back by how much seeing baby affected him. when the scan lady kept saying he i think dp nearly burst into tears until she explained that she always says he and it didnt mean it was a boy lol

does ne one else feel really fat. i havent got a bump yet im just going through that looking fat stage .

and others who have mentioned headaches ive had them for about a week now but im putting it down to worrying about scan and being tired... speaking of ... i think its nap time

bethoo · 23/04/2008 15:02

tbh i do not feel tired in the day anymore and prob only sleep so little man can sleep and then i do not have to tackle the housework that is accumulating!! if i dont see it, it might go away!
wish Hayden would stop feeding the dog his wotsits! by the way he does not just eat wotsits! but according to the news today our babies under 3 should not eat so much fruit and veg and should fill up on sugars, fats and carbs so i am off the hook

bethoo · 23/04/2008 15:03

that is good news Hansnava it wont be long til your 20 week scan!

and ref the wotsits if he has them to occupy himself he will nto bang on my laptop!!

pastachio i read in one of my many books that u start producing colostrum so perhaps thats why ur dd has gone off bf

perkypopsy · 23/04/2008 18:08

Hi Everyone, been really busy with work so just had a quick squizz thru the posts - Hooray for the good scans - sounds like we are all in the same boat i.e. fat (waiting for proper bump), tired (no sleep), craving the good stuff (blue cheese/booze/meats) and worrying about stuff in general. Have to say I have been feeling movements for ages now - am 17 +2 and this little one seems to be flipping about all over the place - was sporadic for the first few weeks but is much more often and noticeable now PHEW
Heard heart beat yesterday - think midwife was worried about how pleased I was - skipped out of there on cloud nine and went straight to peacocks to buy a maternity shirt
My next scan is 20th may can't wait
Hope you have all been enjoying the vitamin D-induced endorphins - have realised how depressed I have been with the weather recently - hooray for sunshine

loulou33 · 23/04/2008 18:18

HI all

Had mw appointment yesterday - did bloods and they will take a week to come back if something is wrong which will put me at 18+ weeks - grrrr. Babs is very active and kicking lots - even kicked the doppler - another boy perhaps???

Hope you're all well
xxx

minervaitalica · 23/04/2008 19:59

hello!

Sorry to go awol - work has pretty much taken over my life in the last couple of weeks, and I am on a busines trip next week (and I really do not want to go tbh).

Congrats to everyone on the scans - I gather we are now all waiting for the 20 weeks one (which is still 4 wks away from me, so not quite nervous yet!!!).

I have actually overcome the fat stage and as long as I do not try to hide it I definitely look pregnant now - someone even gave up their seat on the tube for me the other day... Actually sometimes I feel huge, which cannot be good as I am not even 17 weeks yet - or maybe I should stop looking up pictures of pregnant Nicole Kidman

Good things: I can sleep now (although still knackered all the time ). Not so good things: piles are getting baaaaaaaaaad

jenwa · 23/04/2008 20:19

Well I went to drs and they signed me off this week as not really safe to drive much and need rest as totally shattered. We went to safaris park this afty which was lovely, DH took day off and took me and dd for my b'day so we could get out the house for a bit and it really cheered me up. Came back and went to bed for an hour which was great now have to wait for my tesco shop to arrive and take away!!!

Glad all well with everyone and cant wait til I can see M/W for heartbeat and start feeling baby. Am 14weeks +2days and think I feel something every now and then but just think its my belly stretching!!!

Alexa808 · 24/04/2008 00:58

Hello am back again. Had a bit of a scare last week with stabbing pain, as if someone's ramming a knife up my perineum, also slightly on the left front and it continued all day. Went to see a doctor here in Singapore and was so relieved to find all is well with baby.

He let me listen to the heartbeat, the first time. 137bpm...I was so in awe. Cannot wait for 20 week scan which I'm having in London.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/04/2008 07:49

Glad you had a good birthday Jenwa, and that the scan went well hansnava.

Bethoo - I know that wotsits should be condemned for all the shite that's in them, but they are bloody lovely aren't they .
Good luck with your gtt this morning. Have mine too, but hoping not to have a repeat of the other week!

OP posts:
Eleta · 24/04/2008 07:56

I keep getting head aches too. Thought sickness had stopped but back again last couple of days although at least it doesn't last all day now!

I thought I felt a movement just over a week ago but nothing since. I didn't feel the other two till 19/20 wks but maybe I'll feel 3rd abit earlier. Going to Fuerteventura at 17 weeks so would be nice to feel it on hol. I have a doppler and have to really hold back on getting obsessive about listening to heartbeat.

beakas · 24/04/2008 12:30

Having rubbish day. Just been told am being made redundant at end of June. Business is bad and they can't afford to keep me on. They do know at work about the baby as well but apparently makes no difference as I'm the only employee.Really upset and trying not to freak out but finding it difficult. Any words of wisdom? (pretty please?)
Baby due Otober 10th...

bethoo · 24/04/2008 12:53

Beakas - that is awful and sorry to put a dampner but it may be hard to get another job as you will be showing! unless you look now for another job, would you still get redundancy pay, all swings and roundabouts i think!

Eleta - i ma obsessive wiht my doppler too! i know i prob should not but i use it every night for a couple of seconds to check all is well. of course i would never admit that to my mw!

had three blood tests today, two for gtt and the third for the triple test. turns out that last pregnancy did not get tested for downs as the wrong box was ticked so just got tested for nural defects. when i had my initial finger prick test it was 5.9 and the cut off was 6 so hope i am not developing gd. mw said tht if not got it then will not have to be tested until 28 weeks thank goodness! hate needles!

well off to vets soon to have my cats health check and booster and worming and flea treatment (((more money))).

it cost me a tenner to get to the town today adn can you beleive it is only a mile down the road???

my blood pressure is 85/50 and was asked if feel dizzy but feel ok.

firsttimer08 · 24/04/2008 13:13

hi all ! I hope its not too late to join.

I'm expecting my first one - due date is October 20th. Had my first scan about two weeks ago and all looked fine so far. But am already getting anxious about the next scan which is about 1.5 months away

Is anyone not feeling pregnant? Aside from the nausea, I haven't really developed much of a bump and don't even look fat ! Do you think I should see the doctor - i fear something might be wrong.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/04/2008 13:27

Oh dear beakas. Not sure if you already know this or not, but I think that you will still be eligible to claim maternity allowance, even though you won't get SMP.

Glad your gtt went ok bethoo. I survived mine this time too - hurrah!

Welcome firsttimer. Your concerns sound perfectly normal. I am 17 weeks and still don't feel pregnant. This is quite common during the second trimester.

OP posts:
KSal · 24/04/2008 13:39

hi firsttimer08 I think what you're feeling is pretty normal judging by my own experience and many others on here. just in the last week, i have started to expand forwards a bit which helps - never thought i would be so keen to get bigger! although i haven't put any weight on yet (maybe my scales are broken )

good to see positive news coming through smudgey, hansnava, CSWS... so sorry to hear about your job beakas. have you tried posting in the employment issues forum? there may be someone who's had similar experience or knows a bit more about rights etc.

firsttimer08 · 24/04/2008 13:44

Thanks CantSleep- i noticed ppl on the list talking about maternity clothes, but i still fit into all my clothes and those that were loose are still loose. Hoping to start gaining some pounds soon !

is the midwife or the gp the first point of contact in case of any emergencies?
