Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bethoo · 22/04/2008 13:36

i find it hard to sleep too but mostly because i get up alot still ot go to loo and then i cant get comfy or am too hot!

Snowy - wiht first babies you usually feel them alot later than people who have had babies before, i did not feel mine til well into the 6-7 months so do not worry.

my colleague has told me she is preggers too but not to tell anyone but i am sure you are ok not to tell her work mates!! she is only 8 weeks and it is her first so it is still early days but really hoping it works out for her. especially as i will have someone ot go baby shopping with .

well i finsish at work at 2 to then pick up little man then maybe sleep??

snowymum · 22/04/2008 14:29

Thanks Bethoo - that's really good to know. I can use that to shut up an annoying person who rolled their eyes and tutted when I said it hadn't kicked yet, like 'oh, well, there's definitely a problem' all in one not-so-subtle eye roll.

snowymum · 22/04/2008 14:30

Oh, thanks CSWS too - didn't read down properly!

SmudgeyDoodle · 22/04/2008 15:19

I can breathe a sigh of relief. There really is a baby in there and all looked fine Only thing is that they've put my due date back to the 27th Oct so now only just over 13 weeks. The cynical part of me says that they are trying to hit a target of people having dating scans during 12th week but maybe that's just me not wanting to be the lonely one at the thread at the end of the month!!!!
Snowymum I didn't feel Ds kick until just over 20 weeks and haven't felt anything with this one yet. Sounds bizzare that you don't have any apppointments until july but maybe you'll see a MW after your scan in May?
Glad DD is shining at nursery CSWS. Bet you're a proud if a little embarrased mummy!
Hope you're fast asleep Bethoo....

bethoo · 22/04/2008 15:35

no i am awake still!!! ds is sat here eatign Wotsits.

snowymum · 22/04/2008 16:15

Smudgey, I'm moving house in May so will change from UCHL to somewhere in Oxford, so not too bothered as I'm sure my new GP will do new appointments.

Mmm, wotsits, wouldn't mind a handful myself...

snowymum · 22/04/2008 16:16

oops, pressed post too soon. Also congrats on the scan!

jenwa · 22/04/2008 18:31

Anyone else suffering from headaches! They are soo heavy, not blurred vision or anything just like an elephant sat on my head! Have been so moody and poor dd has chicken pox and she is covered and not well and am trying my best to help her but am feeling pants and ended up yelling big time tonight (which never helped my head) as she felt tipped the table!!!!! I need more sleep and cant seem too! Go to bed early but then awake early hours and cant get back to sleep then shattered by lunch an dd seems manic at that time! If she was at playgroup I could have a doze for an hour but she cant go because of the chicken pox!!!

Roll on weekend, or actually by birthday tomorrow and DH has day off, maybe he will let me sleep in!!!

jenwa · 22/04/2008 18:31

Sorry, meant to be a question mark after headaches!

emkay · 22/04/2008 19:56

Jenwa - I did get some headaches a week or so back but they seem to have lifted. I would have thought they could easily be down to tiredness if you're nursing a sick child. Maybe drink lots of water to make sure you're not dehydrated and book that lie in now!

What's the rule on dried meats? My mother's just brought some lovely vacuum packed dried meat back from Switzerland and I grew up with the stuff so really want to eat it but I'm sure I've heard somewhere that dried meats are out... why??

jenwa · 22/04/2008 20:21

emkay - Thank you, yes hoping its the case and they go! Will maye go to drs tomorrow though as had low iron levels when preg with dd1 and it may be the case again so need to get it checked and maybe see if can get another week off work as its driving me insane!

Not sure about dry mea, maybe the fact that they have been cooled down and at risk to bacteria growing as it grows on food that is a low temp and can be harmful if not heated up correctly. Someone else may be ale to give the right reason. I know hot dogs are a no go and I think it is also for that reason.

My 'b' button does not work so sorry if anything missing a 'b'!!!

bethoo · 22/04/2008 20:52

i never heard that hot dogs were a no no! oh buggar!
i have been getting headaches too.

jenwa · 22/04/2008 21:12

I heard about hot dogs with my last pregnancy so it may have changed. I never used to like them but remember wanting them when I knew I was not allowed!!!

Headaches are a bummer aren't they?

hedgepig · 22/04/2008 21:12

evening all. I've not heard about hot dogs maybe is you are buying them out and you don't know how long they have been sitting there, but I'm sure the would be OK if you open the tin at home and heat them thoroughly. don't know about dried meats I will have a wibble on the web and see.

I'm about 17 weeks now and i have started to be sick avian OH poohy! I think it is because I was very tired and do not need the stress of the school demanding school dinner money I have already sent. I have just spent the evening writing a very diplomatic letter suggesting the look for the cheque.

jenwa · 22/04/2008 21:14

Here is what it says about hot dogs:

What is Listeria?
Listeria monocytogenes is a type of bacteria that is found in water and soil. Vegetables can become contaminated from the soil, and animals can also be carriers. Listeria has been found in uncooked meats, uncooked vegetables, unpasteurized milk, foods from unpasteurized milk and processed foods. Listeria is killed by pasteurization and cooking. There is a chance that contamination may occur in ready-to-eat foods such as hot dogs and deli meats because contamination may occur after cooking and before packaging.

(not sure am allowed to cut on paste info on mumsnet??)

jenwa · 22/04/2008 21:16

here is a website anyway that has info on it all.

www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/listeria.html

hedgepig · 22/04/2008 21:21

thanks jenwa

I found this on NHS direct
www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleid=917#

which gives explanations of why not to eat certain foods. I'm now worried about coleslaw which I have been having on jacket potatoes for lunch for the last 3 months (you just can't win! my last pg I lived on tuna only for the guidelines to change to only 2 can per week half way through [hmmm])

Lozza70 · 22/04/2008 21:28

Good news on the scans today. I had my midwife appointment and heard the baby's heartbeat

I've been getting headaches as well but I went for a massage on Monday night and I cannot tell you about the knots in my neck and shoulders. Have not had a headache since....I know it's only one day but it is better than I had been doing

Sallypuss · 22/04/2008 21:30

Evening all! Talk about forbidden fruit, soon there'll be nothing left for me to eat at all that isn't vaguely sinful - have gone off chocolate, coffee and sweet things in general, can't have alcohol - what's left? Woe is me might have to eat pizza for the next 26 weeks (without any deli toppings you understand)...sorry hysteria creeping in at this time of night...!

Sallypuss · 22/04/2008 21:32

Sorry, should also have said congratulations on everyone's scans...how selfish of me...

jenwa · 22/04/2008 21:35

Its pants isn't it, especially no alcohol!! hehe!!!

Well can we just sniff the food instead!

Sallypuss · 22/04/2008 21:42

Have already decided what my first post-pregnancy meal is going to be - something with blue cheese, rare roast beef, parma ham and the biggest glass of bubbly I can find (which will probably go straight to my head after 40 weeks of abstinence!). How sad am I?!

emkay · 22/04/2008 21:44

I'm in the process of cutting a deal with DP that no alcohol and permanent designated driver duty for me must equal more lie ins for me too... there's got to be some pay back!

bethoo · 22/04/2008 22:36

coleslaw?? oh my god! half of these are not mentioned on the booklet i got from mw! i ate parma ham the other day!

oh my giod Chronicles of Riddick just started and even though i have it on DVD and really must go to bed looks like Vin Diesel is going to keep me up! Weird how my xh looks similar!!!

been trying to eat healthy apart from my serious weakness involving coke! will have to get diet!!!

Eleta · 23/04/2008 07:34

Hi everyone! I have only just discovered this thread. My name is Eleta and I have dd Charlotte 5 and Molly 4. I am 15+3. I used to be a MW but haven't practised since dd2 was born. Iset up my own photography business instead as I love it and it works around the children without needing childcare! Think I will have to take a break after no3 arrives though!
