jenwa, thinking of you this weekend, waiting until Tuesday!

My ds2 is Elliot and I still haven't come across another one. After Elliot Gould. Eden lovely too I think. I'm not getting anywhere with my search for twin girl/boy names!

I try not to think about birth tbh and it's v.easy to scare yourself first time round so please don't! Although I do think being aware of what happens if things do go 'wrong' and you need intervention is v.useful - for example I did know how they put an epidural in and it would have thrown me if I hadn't. I hadn't remotely considered that I might end up with a section, so when I did have one with ds1 threw me a huge amount and contributed to pnd I think in retrospect. You can find out about what happens without watching videos of sections which quite frankly I could never do now! Obviously birth plan went out the window that time. I was more realistic with ds2 and with the twins I shall consider more drug options I think like pethidine. I do strongly believe that positive thinking, breathing etc can make a huge difference - the more you panic, the more you slow down the birth process iyswim. I read up on this last time and I believe it helped me get through it, I won't pretend it wasn't incredibly painful at times though.

Sorry if I'm missing scans and newbies to this thread etc, I'm struggling a bit with doing basic stuff at the mo. I'm getting so big and the babies are v.high.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/05/2008 20:58

aq - Elliot has been our top boys name for years, so will be a very very strong contender if this one turns out to be a boy. Dd would definitely have been Elliot if she'd been a boy.

I do call him Elli quite a lot though, which is v.girly! Must stop, but now entire family doing it! It's funny I never saw it on mumsnet when naming him (he's nearly 18 mo) and now it's lots of people's favourites!

Hi All,

New to this thread although not to MN! Actually due early Nov with my second, already have one DD (19 months!). So do you guys actually meet up? Would be really nice to meet other expecting mums - I live in Molesey in Surrey.

bethoo · 26/05/2008 16:01

21 weeks today!
19 weeks to go, 19 weeks to go la la la

Lozza70 · 26/05/2008 16:13

Scan tomorrow morning at 9am!! Very excited Sooo looking forward to seeing baby again. Hope I don't have to be sent out again for a walk to settle the baby down so they can do the scan. My appointment came with no other information. Do you have to have a full bladder for this scan??

no need for full bladder as baby is big enough to see clearly.
wil you find out the sex?

Maybe I'll go half full and take a bottle of water just in case

Not planning to find out the sex but am really tempted. Just keep telling myself I don't need to know. It's our first and as long as everything is okay I'm happy.

bethoo · 26/05/2008 16:28

i think it is as i think this was discussed earlier in the thread. i thought the only reason they asked at 12 weeks was because the baby is so small having a full bladder means the uterus is pushed up so easier and clearer to see.

1sttimer80 · 26/05/2008 18:06

Hi all, just checking up on what's going on quickly.

Jenwa... thoughts are with you....

Lozza70... I wondered the same thing, I would go half full, as @ my 20 week scan I went to the ladies just before I went for the appointment as I was bursting and the sonographer said that she would prefer a full bladder ... guess it depends on the size of the baby. if the sonographer does want you to have an empty bladder then you could always just visit the ladies quickly

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/05/2008 18:20

Evening all!

Looks like loads of us have already had scans and know the sex etc. - I am jealous as I have to wait till 9th June for mine - still seems ages away.

Bump is big 'n' round now, no disguising it. Have started having trouble sleeping as can't find comfy position. Tend to sleep on my back normally and find my hips really ache when I sleep on my side will need to dig out my looong sleeping pillow.

Names are being discussed - ds has decided on Bonka, Tronka or Shonka hope I spelled them correctly - what do you think?

bigmouthstrikesagain · 26/05/2008 18:22

Also good luck and wishes to you Jenwa for Tuesday.

SmudgeyDoodle · 26/05/2008 20:20

Hope you don't have to wait too long for news Jenwa and that all is ok. Hope people's scans go well today. I seem to have forgotton that I'm pregnant as I'm between appointments and nothing happening for a couple of weeks. I'm feeling alright and I think that's why it's all gone off my radar. Names are a real personal choice. i think everyone naturally associates names with people they know so no two people are going to like the same names. FWIW, I think Erin and Eden are lovely girls names, I also like Elliot but not so keen on Daryl for a boy. A name I really like for a girl but DH doesn't is Amyce. I heard it on a train when I was about 14 and it really stuck! Bigmouth I think those names are fab. How about all 3? AandMsmum I hope you're feeling better and now worm free

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/05/2008 09:06

Good luck to annwoo, Ksal, Lozza, twinklytoes and me for scans today, and good luck to Jenwa for results!

I think it's at 2:10 tt. I hope it is, because that's when I intend to turn up!!

I'll definitely have my baby within 18 weeks sambrads, as I won't be allowed to go over!

OP posts:
ronshar · 27/05/2008 09:57

Morning ladies.
I am off for the rest off half term week so I wanted to come and wish everyone good luck with scans and amnio results.

I also am on the loo all the time. Most of the time it is only a tiny bit (TMI). The worst thing is that today I have a 4hour drive to my sisters. It could take even longer if I have to keep stopping to wee!!!

I hope everyone has a great week and I shall catch up on saturday.

KSal · 27/05/2008 10:52

yes! good luck to everyone having scans today - seems like there's a few of us!

I'm in at 3.40 csws, so we will miss each other (unless they are really delayed!)

bethoo · 27/05/2008 12:51

sambrads sould be becasue the baby is lying low still.

advice ladies if you want to knwo the sex and get it moving eat a mars bar beforehand as it makes it active so it wont lay there with its legs crossed like mine!

good luck with scans ladies and thinking of you Jenwa

jenwa · 27/05/2008 13:22

Thanks everyone for thinking of me. I am STILL waiting . Have called hosp and results not back yet hoping it will be today as cant wait any longer!

good luck with your scans and congrats to those who have had them.

I know what you mean about the wee thing! I seem fine then really need to go especially when someone asks me if I do!
