Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes can see the dog situation pissing you off! Are they friends?

I only work with her 2 days and dont see much out of work but it may change as she having tough time. I did mention we liked her dds name and she appeared ok about it.
Will have a think about the other name. Getting DD to say them is cute, maybe Dh will be persuaded by that I hope!!!!

rowanmac · 19/05/2008 21:50

we were about to call our cat Oscar when my cousin named her son that! so quick change of name. The cat is now called Kimi (as in Raikonnen-racing driver). It was just before I had DS and there was no way we were calling him Ayrton Senna Macdonald. DS got the name i liked and is less likely to cause him to be duffed up at secondary school and fobbed DH off with the cat.

hedgepig · 19/05/2008 21:54

jenwa my friend/colleague named her son the same as my son. I was mildly miffed when I got the email from her DH saying they had had a baby and what they had called him. But I got over it pretty quickly and now can take the PI** out of her for copying and saying if this one is a girl I will give it her daughters name. If you are friends as well as colleagues you may want to mention it before. Sorry to hear about you results hope the amnio brings a good answer for you.

My 20 week scan tomorrow, I'm a bit apprehensive.

jenwa · 19/05/2008 21:56

rowanmac, so pleased you here!!! I just went to log off and saw you had posted!!!

Thank you for your advice and I am really hoping that I have a result like yours. I did look at the special need threads today and there was a remark made about a thread I made about my 1 in 20 risk of downs. It did get to me a bit reading them and I have been told my DH and mother not to read them (and by you too!!!) We know what we will do but I cant face anything yet, I am just hoping for a possitve result.
My baby has been kicking too, I am hoping its a sign that all is well. (not that a baby with DS would not kick or anything incase anyone reading this thinks I have made a unethnical remark) god its difficult!!!!
DH very positive and same as you and CSWS that there is a stronger possibility all will be ok.
I am so pleased for you though as I know what you felt and how much you must feel relieved of the stress now. Did you ask to find out the sex of the baby? We not sure if we will. Never wanted to initially but now considering it.

Thank you though for posting and for the advice.

jenwa · 19/05/2008 21:57

(Sorry meant been told by my DH and Mother)
This computer not good, buttons not working well!

jenwa · 19/05/2008 22:02

Hegepig - good luck with scan tomorrow. Sure all ok, hope you get a good piccy too.
Thanks for adice re name, makes me think about that issue as dont want it to be awkward, maybe can use as middle name.

bethoo · 19/05/2008 22:21

jenwa hope to find out the sex if the baby is co-operative!!!hoping for a little brother for Hayden. stumped if it is a girl since i have a name in mind if it is a boy = Adam Troy.

Hedgepig what time is your scan tomorrow? mine is at 230! are you going ot enquire about the sex??

hedgepig · 19/05/2008 22:30

min is 11:45, I'm not going to find out the sex, this might sound a bit weird but it is party of my strategy to avoid PND this time.

I did find out the sex last time and so decided a name etc well before ds was born and I think that when the birth and his start in life were not quite as expected I couldn't cope with it because I had everything so organized and it wasn't how I thought it should be. So by not finding out the sex I am having some uncertainty -- does that make any sense it sounds completely weird when I write it down.

twinklytoes · 19/05/2008 22:30

evening. so much has happened since my last visit.

jenwa thinking of you. saw the other threads too. regards names our boys choice is same as a friends 6yr old. shall be running it pass her first. but know she won't mind.

rowanmac great news.

snowymum love the name. always wonder do you tell everyone now or keep it top secret till birth?

ksal I've got my scan next tues too. told DD1 she's counting down the sleeps. she's very excited and told me "I hope it doesn't have a willy" Not sure what we do if it does.

everything is fine here, bean is kicking more. though haven't thought much about bean as been spending alot of time at the hospital with my mum - she's had some of her kidney removed due to cancer.

KSal · 20/05/2008 09:30

thanks for your messages guys, these threads really help to get a little perspective - i can't be sure if i would have made the same decision if my risk had been higher like you jenwa and rowanmac i don't think you can know until you are actually in that position, no matter how much thought you put into it before the screening test. I've got my fingers crossed for you both getting through this ok.

and i will take your advice and ask for any other indicators during the scan.

re names, my chosen boys name is the name of a close friend and the girls name is the name of DH's cousin, I reckon they will be flattered. If it was a close friend's child with the same name i would think twice, because we would spend so much time together, otherwise i would think it would be ok.

how did the scan go hedgepig?

i had mine and all is well with baby. it is a girl the sonographer says. they go by not what they see but what they dont see so i suppose that since they could not see dangly bits it is a girl though apparantly there were 3 white lines which usually means a girl. i know i shoould be pleased and i am that it is healthy but i really was set on a boy! now i have to peruse the babies name and find a girls name!! my parents are chuffed now that i have one of each and now they have one of each grandkiddies since my bro and sis have yet to produce grand kiddies!!

sparklesandnowinefor5months · 20/05/2008 18:24

So pleased all has gone well for you bethoo

I haven't even got a date for my scan yet think i might have to phone and chase them tomorrow

Just wanted to check in so i can find the thread again - my mum is here and i have very little time to do anything other than what i'm told to do!! lol she's not that bad i guess but......

Lozza70 · 20/05/2008 19:49

Good news on all the sucessful scans. We have ours next Tuesday morning and I cannot wait to see the little bean again. Bit apprehesive as always but I think that is just the way it goes. Won't be finding out the sex as DH would not be able to keep it to himself

Jenwa fingers crossed for you tomorrow and for your results.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/05/2008 20:58

Wow - that's 4 of us with scans next Tuesday now.

bethoo - glad that your scan went ok, and hope you can come to terms with having a girl soon. I can understand how you are feeling I think, as I will be much the same if this one turns out to be a boy.

Noticing the minor name change sparkles! Am I slow or is it new?!

How did your scan go hedgepig?

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/05/2008 21:01

perkypopsy - how is your search for a doula going? You didn't happen to meet with one last night did you?

I'm also looking for one (because of the diabetes complications), so we may be fighting over the same ones!

hedgepig · 20/05/2008 21:31

Hello the scan was fine, all bits present and correct. I had to go upside down and for a walk so she could see the heart but she saw it in the end.
We went out for lunch to celebrate had something mildly spicy which sent me most peculiar so I had to lie down till DS got home from school then I had to play cricket. My DS keeps cheating had a melt down when I pointed this out, should i let him get away with it?
Bethoo glad your scan went OK. I didn;t find out the sex, I almost wavered but didn't give in.

rosebury · 21/05/2008 09:15

Morning ladies what a busy time it is for everyone good luck with all the scans.

I am now getting indegestion every day usually late afternoon or evening but today I had it after breakfast could not bloody believe it I was on the gaviscon by 8.30am I had porridge and honey for breki it is a good job that we can get gaviscon on prescription or it would cost me a fortune.

have a good day.

firsttimer08 · 21/05/2008 09:39

wow, congratulations to everyone on their scans.

Is anyone still having nausea? While mine is not as terrible as what i've gone through, but i'm still having my episodes of throwing up and generally feeling sick in the morning.

rosebury try drinking sparkling water for indigestion - really worked for me last time I was pg. Thankfully haven't encountered this yet.

ronshar · 21/05/2008 11:16

Great news on the good scans ladies.
My scan is at 12 today so I shall be back later to read up and also share the hopefully good news!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 21/05/2008 12:20

Jenwa, hope amnio went ok and that you are resting. When do you find out results?
Hope the rest of the scans today went ok. Mine still seems a long way away cos not til the 16th June.
All ok here. Just taken delivery of a mahoosive pile of maternity clothes that I got from ebay and I think most of them will fit which is great. I only spent £40 on it so figured that even if 2 bottoms and a few tops fitted, it was still worth it.
Going to the park with DS this afternoon and will prob fit in a sneaky icecream whilst there. Yummmy. (Sorry CSWS! hope your mum is looking after you well)

Jenwa, How are you feeling now? I hope the amnio wasnt too horrible for you and DP. When you get your results they will know the sex because of the DNA profile. You can find out for def then if you want 100% certainty.

My scan was fab I even had a tear rolling. Little baby was wrapping one if its feet around the heal of the other foot. How cute. I dont think it was too happy with the whole ordeal mind as I was getting some allmighty downwards kicks.
Dh wouldnt give in so we dont know the sex. I think I saw stuff hanging around but cant be sure. The sonographer was fantastic. He explained everything as he went. Brill.
