Hello everyone

Trying to catch up on all these messages again if you miss a couple of days it is so hard to keep up. Sorry rambling again but you all know what I mean.

Snowymum great news on your home birth I have had four at home and will be staying home for this one as well it is so relaxing, I get so stressed anywhere near a hospital.

Someone asked how to change hospitals, in my area you simply ask your midwife and the job is done I guess if you do not have a midwife you could ask your gp be firm with what you want and maybe seek support/advice from a local group or mumsnetter in your area.

Sex life great just spent the afternoon in bed with dh there is something naughty about being in bed in dayllight but it was so snuggly and relaxing.

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2008 19:54

at rosebury all afternoon in bed! Dp keeps begging me but I cannot be bothered as I am quite enormous already. Hardly believe that some of you have no bump as I look huge.

jenwa, I do hope results come back quickly, such a stressful time for you and dh, fingers crossed for you both x

Isn't diet meant to help an enormous amount with thrush? It's too much yeast, so cutting down on yeast esp wheat/diary may help and avoid future reoccurences?

Snowymum, I'm sure scan will be lovely and once you know dc is alright you can enjoy watching him/her wiggle around. I was extremely nervous before mine last Tues, almost having panic attacks which was ridiculous. As soon as she said 'two babies, two heartbeats' I relaxed

rosebury · 18/05/2008 20:07

accessorize just to rub it in my bump is massive but that would never stop me sorry if tmi but we are very creative with positons a good sex life is good for you it helps the muscles get stronger I have very good pelvic floor muscles because they get plenty of use, it all helps for the birth ladies.

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2008 20:11

rosebury! I do enjoy it when we get round to it, thought about it last night but dp already asleep. Must go do some pelvics as I've been slack this week!

rosebury · 18/05/2008 20:36

access go and have a shag instead, youll feel better.

Just been on the may thread to peep at how they are doing and the names and weights etc oh how exciting it all is for them.

jenwa · 18/05/2008 21:17

Rosebury - you made me chuckle. Its our wedding anniversary today but due to the crappy news I had we have not celebrated. If all ok by the end of the week then will have some celebrating to do and DH may get lucky, think he feels forgotten! accessorizequeen - thank you for your kind words.

Its difficult at mo as have a big bump and feeling lots of movement. Bizzare as with DD I felt little bits then bigger movements as time went on. This time its like I had the difficult news fri and baby starting really moving then last night I had 4 big kicks in my side. I hoping its a sign tha baby is saying all ok!!!

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2008 21:27

I'm sure it is a sign, jenwa - you know that statistically lo is absolutely fine! (hugs)

07mumstheword · 19/05/2008 08:33

Rosebury 4 children already and still managing an afternoon in bed. I have one DD and don't get the chance lucky you

1sttimer80 · 19/05/2008 09:37

big hugs to Jenwa.. fingeres crossed everything works out for you.

my jobismum: thanks for the info...I guess with the whole fluid in the kidneys thing... I am worried but just trying not to think about it too much. Hope the next 8 weeks goes by fast so I can have the rescan. it's ok you didn't let the cat out of the bag... i had alreday looked it up! Although obviously I am well aware that I can;t rely on this to determine sex lol I was just curious!

As for DH, he's not getting much of anything! lol poor guy mops around the house and gives me the odd lustful look but I just don't have the energy.. syaing that when I do have the energy there's no stopping me! unfortunately that doesn't happen too often lol
sorry if tmi!

Good luck for all those stillw aiting for their scans!

Jane7 · 19/05/2008 10:38

hi everyone, i've been lurking for ages and not writing messages, but i wanted to respond to all those who have had thrush. I suffered from it on and off for about ten years with hardly a month going by without getting it. Such a pain. The thing that did it for me was a very strong probiotic supplement called saccharamyces boulardii, combined with taking a normal acidiphillus probiotic. It was amazing. Within two weeks, my thrush cleared up, that was last September and I haven't had it once since. Anyway, if yours is just a brief pregnancy thing, you might not want to bother, since the supplements aren't cheap, but if you're plagued by thrush, it's worth it. I was spending a fortune on pessaries and creams and my GP could do nothing for me.

Jane7 · 19/05/2008 10:40

should have mentioned, the supplement was made by NutriCology and I got it from the NutriCentre, in central London, cost £17 for 50 supplement and I took two a day in morning and evening. You must keep them in the fridge. Ok, I'll stop going on about my miracle thrush cure now; it's just that it was a BIG deal for me when I finally got rid of it. Totally amazing, in fact.

rosebury · 19/05/2008 12:47

07mum I have five children but only one ds aged 5 at home the eldest four are all in their twenties two of them work in the pub near where you live.

KSal · 19/05/2008 16:37

Hi all, just had a high result back from triple test this morning (1 in 230, so not much higher than the threshold)

we have decided not to have the amnio as the risk of miscarriage (0.5% at my hospital) is higher than the risk of having a downs baby. Also, because i am almost at 20 weeks now, i can feel the baby moving regularly so what could i possibly do with the result if it was positive?

anyway, scan on tuesday next week so i've got my fingers crossed for that (and for october). now i've just got to calm down a bit, so the baby isn't affected...

pepperrabbit · 19/05/2008 16:46

Afternoon all, everythings pretty mundane here, baby moving quite a lot - can they hear what's going on outside yet does anyone know? It didn't half jump when DS1 did one of his high pitched scream "specials" yesterday! But that could be cos I jumped about 8' too..
Got my first glucose test on thurs, so not looking forward to that.

KSal · 19/05/2008 17:31

i think they can pepperrabbit mine went a bit bonkers yesterday when i was at a wedding reception

snowymum · 19/05/2008 17:43

Sounds like a good plan, KSal - hope the scan goes well.

Had mine today - it's a boy! Puts a completely different complexion on things, funnily enough. He'll be called Rowan Michael and since this isn't the names thread, if you don't like it, don't say!

Had to have three scans in the end so was there for ages, as the lady couldn't see the stomach. Eventually he must have swallowed enough amniotic fluid to make it visible, so all's well. Plus one of the sliding scales things (Va /H, I think) is off the scale, but it's a ratio not an absolute number - the actual measurement is 8.4mm and the limit is 10mm which the sonographer said was fine. Who am I to argue! Seeing midwife tomorrow so can ask her if i was being fobbed off, but I'm sure not as she was so assiduous about finding the right stomach measurement.

Knackered, now. Too much excitement for one day!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/05/2008 19:47

Great news on the scan snowymum, and on making yourself clear re the name!

Very sensible decision re the triple result KSal (IMHO). They will still let you know (esp if you ask) if there are any soft markers on the scan next week.

Looking forward to my scan next week too.

bethoo · 19/05/2008 20:53

snowymum - i am happy for you and depending on how tomorrow goes may even be .

i have my scan tomorrow evening and i know there are two others too. is it Ronshar who has her scan tomorrow also?

rosebury · 19/05/2008 21:10

Evening ladies

Snowymum great news on a baby boy and a lovely name.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/05/2008 21:14

ronshar's is on Wedns bethoo.

OP posts:
jenwa · 19/05/2008 21:22

snowymum - congrats on scan and news on baby boy. Lovely name.
My scan meant to be 5th June but got amnio wed so at least will get to see baby then. Not sure wether to find out sex or not. Never wanted too but now becouse of the high risk factor with downs been thinking about it.

Good luck with scan bethoo, will you find out sex?

snowymum · 19/05/2008 21:24

Thanks chaps! Very best of luck with all the scans in the next few days.

jenwa · 19/05/2008 21:27

I know its not name thread but I want to ask a question!

My Dh likes a name that is the same as my collegues daughter (obv if its a girl), would you go for a name that is the same as the persons child you work with?

We cant seem to agree on girls name, both like this one but would feel akward.

I have a list but my fav DH is no as keen on

pepperrabbit · 19/05/2008 21:36

I don't think it would worry me too much to have the same name as a colleagues daughter but I guess it depends on how much time you spend with them outside work? If they're part of a really small close knit circle of friends it could be a little awkward - yours would prob be referred to as "little x " or "baby x"
Our next door neighbour called their new dog by the same name as DS1, now that does piss me off!
DH doesn't like any of the same names as me.

rowanmac · 19/05/2008 21:45

Jenwa, I can only sympathise, you are where I was this time last week. i found amnio quite painful at the time but not so bad afterwards, I was advised to take paracetamol regularly and I did need it for 24 hours. I was told not to drive or lift for 48hrs so clear the decks. I still can't believe how much it wiped me out energy wise. a week on I'm just back to normal. Also give yourself space the day you are due to get the results. I was shaking like a leaf and struggled to get through a loaded work day. That was after good news!

my little bean started kicking me the day before I got the results which really didn't help when we really had no idea what we would do if the results were bad. Also don't read the MN special needs message board its depressing. Lots of people don't really think about it and can make off the cuff remarks but spending several days having to look a tough decision square in the face is horrible.

i'm still finding it hard to believe we got away with it, a week on i'm heading out of the danger zone for miscarriage and beginning to believe there will be a baby in October.

I'll keep watching with my fingers crossed for you, thinking of you on wednesday and as CSWS said to me you've a 95% chance of it being normal.
