Rowanmac That is good news, really pleased for you.

It's lovely to hear everyones scans are going well

I had MW appointment so heard the babies HB which was so reassuring and 20 wk scan/consultant appt booked for the 10th Jun. I'm sure I've felt some fluttering in the last day or so too

I'd quite like to know the sex of this baby but DH defintately doesn't want to know, he says it won't change anything as what will be will be and it's a nice surprise when born. I'd like to have the nursery in the right colour and clothes etc etc but there's time for that later.

Sex Drive I can't be bothered but feel it's a bit of a wifely duty ( that sounds awful but I mean I can feel guilty and even distant it we don't have that close contact) and much like Tedmundo once I get into it I do enjoy it.

ronshar · 16/05/2008 10:44

Rowanmac, excellent news.
fab news about your scan Myjob.

20 weeks today and feeling great.
Well kind of great, sore throat and chesty cough. No doctors visit as dont want to take anti-b's.
I always get much more up for a bit of naughty business when I am pregnant. This time mind you it is all a bit stressful as we are trying to sell our house. Too much housework is getting me down. I am not the most houseproud girl at the best of times. There is only so many times I can clean the house and still perform.

Scan on Wednesday morning. We still havent decided if we will find out what the sex is. I keep changing my mind!

I hope everyone else is healthy and well today.

bethoo · 16/05/2008 11:48

mornig ladies, glad scan went well myjobismum and good news rowanmac on amnio.
had severe earache yesterday that had to go to hospital and got some ear drops so it marred my otherwise excellent day shopping at Telford where i spent a small fortune by my standards at Debenhams, got some lovely tops, non maternity but with room to stretch grow!! also a lovely dress that is tight fitting but will give iykwim.
on the sex front i have always had a high sex drive and it is even worse when preggers though sadly what with being at parents i am getting none!! and though i would be tempted to pick up a random stranger my parents would not be too impressed and not many men go for the pregnant look! only joking ladies, i have had to diy ifkwim sorry if tmi!

SmudgeyDoodle · 16/05/2008 12:16

Rowanmac - so pleased for your good news. I hope all the worrying times are behind us but I fear we'll find things to worry about whatever. We haven't got any contact now til 16th June which seems ages away. My hayfever started yesterday though so I may have to make a doctors visit and plead for them to give me something.
Snowymum you sound very happy with your decision re MW care. I think you have to make sure you are feeling as relaxed as you can be about this thing that is so beyond our control. I had no idea what to expect last time and I know there are plenty of horror stories but we had a fab MW who was really bothered and stayed late to check I was ok. We moved house twice during last pregnancy so absolutey no continuity of care and they were still fab! (Just trying to reassure others who are worried

Hi Everyone,

Rowanman congrats on the results I bet you must be pleased.
myjobismum congrats on the scan!

I've just had my 20 weeks scan... does anyone know anything about hydronephrosis? I've read up on the internet and the sonographer said that there was fluid in the kidneys, but she saw fluid in the bladder, which she says is a good sign because it means at least one kidney is working. She says if the fluid in the kidneys doesn't clear up then they'll have to give antibiotics after birth. I'm not sure how serious it is, but have been booked in again for a scan at 28 weeks to see if it's changed as it could clear up during the pregnancy.

Everything else was fine, the little one had it's legs crossed so couldn't get a flash, however they did say the kidney thing was more prevalent in one sex than another, and now that's made me curious! DH doesn't want to know the sex, but now this has got me curious!!

minervaitalica · 16/05/2008 18:25

1sttimer, sorry I cannot help with hydronephrosis - never heard of it. It looks like the sonographer did not think it was a big issue though, so that's good.

My 20 weeks scan is next week, and I have to say I am getting very nervous... I heard the heartbeat last week, and I am sure all that movement in my tummy cannot all be wind either. aaargh will I ever learn to relax and drop negative thoughts????

jenwa · 16/05/2008 18:44

Rowanman - pleased to hear you have had good results.

I am sat here in tears as been on phone to M/W who says I have 1 in 20 risk of downs! Got appt weds for amneo but it feels like forever away then wont get results til at least 48 hrs. Am feeling like pants and just wish I could know now. Am 32 and norm results for my age is 1 in 690. I am so upset and hoping for good news like Rowanman.

jenwa i know it is hard but please try not to worry, i am sure Rowanmac will have more reassuring words as she knows what you are going through. we are all here to support you.

when i get my results for triple test it never gives a ratio just says what level of risk i am either high or low. do the ratio results just go straight to the mw?

jenwa · 16/05/2008 20:02

Last time I had a ratio sent in post but that was because it was a low risk. This time it went straight to M/W, think they do if high risk an also maybe it is different with each NHS.

Feel pants and just want an answer. Am really hoping for a false positive as that would mean the world to me. Just wont know for a week or more!

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2008 20:54

good news rowanmac re your test results, jenwa, sorry you're going through this, have you got someone to help you through next week so you can rest lots after the test?
Bump has had a very busy day here, all of a sudden I can feel lots of movement! wriggling and kicking and everything (my tummy muscles must be shot!) and a quick reaction to cold drinks as well - really seems to wake baby up. Was making me laugh at lunchtime, luckily I was alone working from home today.
Also (big cheer) my new washing machine arrived, old one broke tuesday - there is a ridiculous amount of washing backlog, and when I got DS1 up this morning he'd been sooo deeply asleep he'd wet himself without realising during the night, so that's a duvet, sheet, duvet cover, mattress protector, pillow & case, monkey and special blanket all soggy and humming quietly in a corner all day.... bleagh.
Anyone know the best thing to get the smell of wee out of a mattress? I just air dried it and turned it over but methinks that's a short term solution
hope everyone else well and perky this evening.

jenwa · 16/05/2008 20:59

pepperrabbit - yes DH about and family so hopefully they can help. Rang work to explain and they been great.

Think you might need some febreeze on your matress and a srub!!! Good luck with the new machine, hope it copes with the backlog!

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/05/2008 21:05

Oh jenwa. I don't think that anything we say will ease your worry over the next week, but hopefully you will be one of the 95% for whom things are fine.

Afraid that I've never heard of hydronephrosis 1sttimer, but I do hope that it disappears by your next scan.

Congrats to the rest on your good scans/results, and good luck to those who have them next week.

Have a great holiday pistachio.

pepperrabbit - meant scrub not srub!

jenwa · 16/05/2008 21:13

CSWS - Makes it worse at mo as really starting to feel baby move today. Thank you for your kind words though. I am keeping fingers crossed though and hoping I can come on here next week and say its all ok. Just wish tests could be done quicker. They advise no stress in pregnancy so surely they should get things done asap as will be stressing loads!!!!

pepperrabbit · 16/05/2008 21:28

Ah, febreze - why didn't I think of that??? I use it on cat accidents - small boy wee can't be that different!

07mumstheword · 17/05/2008 09:27

Jenwa Just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear your worrying news and my thoughts are with you. I do hope you can come back next week to report everything is ok.

jenwa · 17/05/2008 10:41

07mumstheword - thank you. Midwife coming this afty, hoefully she will give me positive advice.

hansnava · 17/05/2008 14:39

hello all
jenwa - sorry to hear ur worrying news i truely hope everything turns out ok.

*tmi ahead**

ive got thrush for the third time in as many weeks and its now driving me mad. help. ive been to drs had swab done got a cream worked for about a week then come back got a pesserry worked for a couple of days am now trying yogurt which is helping for a couple of hours at a time.

ne suggestions anyone please
i swear this baby is a boy its been nothing but trouble so far lol its starting as it means to go on i think.

Emmsy1 · 17/05/2008 15:43

hello ladies, haven't been on for a week or so, glad all scans are ok, mine will still be on 9th June (they did cancel it, but sent me a new appt for the same day, after I rang them)
hansnava I have suffered from thrush many times in previous pregnancies, and couldn,t get rid of it. I had to be prescribed 3 pessaries on one occassion to be inserted on 3 consec nights. Sometimes that's the only way to get rid of it. Hope your rid of it soon
Jenwa My midwife told me it wasn't worth me having the tests that give you the probability of whether you will have a down's baby or not because of my age "43" she said it would come back giving me a result that wasn't in my favour, then she told me that I would then have to pay private to get a more in depth test, that would give me a more probable result, so I'm just hoping that my age doesn't let me down this time around. Hope your results ease your mind x
I definately can't wait to find out the sex of the baby, need to buy the right clothes and pick my baby's name, DH isn't coming with me for the scan, I prefer to go alone. As for interfering MIL's sometimes wish this was the case, mine is in a care home as she has Altheimers (not sure how to spell it)and my mum doesn't ask me about the pregnancy, in fact last week she was making arrangements for me to pick up some relatives over the next few months, told her I might not be able to pick anyone up in September or October because of pregnancy, and she said she had forgot that I was pregnant! Still my other children are all very excited

firsttimer08 · 17/05/2008 22:09

hasnava, same here, i'm also suffering from thrush and the pessary hasn't helped. I used the canestan cream and its given some temporary relief but i feel its coming back in full force again.

Am going to see the GP again on Monday, lets see what she says.

Btw, i'm hoping I can also hear the baby's heart beat at the GP - would it be ok to ask? I was there 2 weeks ago as well, so i'm a bit worried that the GP might get annoyed with my paranoia and continued requests to hear the heart beat.

hansnava · 17/05/2008 23:35

hi firsttimer08 -
i say who cares if gp gets annoyed. its ur baby and u have the right to hear the heart beat. my midwife is really good [which is strange coz i didnt like her at all the first time round] as i explained how paranoid i am this pregnancy and she is very good at putting my mind at rest. i would say buy ur self a doppler but i have one and i think it does more harm then good with ur nerves. hope ur thrush clears up soon and u enjoy the rest of ur pregnancy

snowymum · 18/05/2008 12:06

Happy Sunday, all. It's my scan tomorrow, wheee! But now of course i'm thinking, shit, what if there's something wrong. Pregnancy really is one long panic, isn't it! (or is it just me...)

oliviaelanasmum · 18/05/2008 12:11

Hello everybody
Its very hectic here as dd2 (3) and dd3(8 months) have jsut come down with chicken pox Just hoping that it will be cleared up by our holiday in a fortnight.
Pregnancy wise im fine, still have no bump, a few fluttering movements but other than that no outward signs of pregnancy. I wont be seeing the midwife until August when i will be 22 weeks but i have my 20 week scan June 16th.
