I forgot, can I ask your opinions please. I think you may have already discussed this but I'm such a worrier and I'm thinking of buying a baby listening device I think they are called Dopplers? Does anyone out there have one they are happy to recommend? And are they any good?

annwoo · 11/05/2008 08:59

1sttimer - Gap maternity have a couple of nice skirts. If you shop online you could try Jojomaman or serphanine.com.

07 have also had a days shopping recently - first day 'off' from the kids in 10 months.
Nothing like a bit of shopping therapy.

annwoo · 11/05/2008 09:00

Whoops that would be seraphine.com

07mumstheword · 11/05/2008 09:02

annwoo I didn't know Gap did maternity I may have to go out again

annwoo · 11/05/2008 09:04

Only a few shops do it - went to Oxford St - but get down there lots of stuff reduced!

emkay · 11/05/2008 11:52

07 - I didn't get a doppler though was sorely tempted by all the lovely descriptions of listening to baby. it must be very reassuring before feeling regular movements. I think though that once you start feeling the baby moving, which could be in the next two to three weeks for most of us, then it's not such a useful thing. I know there's also some debate about safety because there's never been any research into regular, home use... might be worth googling...

Aubergenie · 11/05/2008 18:02

O7 - We considered a doppler, but decided against it in the end because I thought it might really stress me out if I couldn't hear the heartbeat for some reason. Also, as Emkay says there's some debate about their safety. I'm feeling quite regular movement now so the need for reassurance has died down slightly. I think there are some people on here who do use them. You might want to get their viewpoint.

bethoo · 11/05/2008 18:24

i have a doppler which i got for my last pregnancydue to having a mm/c previously. i have angelsounds whcih was £25 and even when i was big the last time there were times when ds did not move or i could not feel it so it was reassuring then. i listen for the heartbeat with this one.

annwoo · 11/05/2008 21:56

My bump has also grown in the last week, can no longer hide under cardi any more (also due to the glorious weather we are having). Just waiting for the 'are you having another one' comments.

bethoo · 11/05/2008 22:02

well only a week ot two or three for most of us and we will be half way there so we can relax that we are starting to show!!!

Aubergenie · 12/05/2008 07:21

My bump has definitely popped out in the last week or so. It totally depends what I wear, but someone gave me a seat on the tube on Saturday, so it must be pretty obvious now. Apart from my boobs which are now huge (a friend described them as "lethal weapons" the other day) and belly, I don't feel like I've gained weight anywhere else, but I'm too scared to weigh myself...

07mumstheword · 12/05/2008 08:23

Thanks for all your thoughts on Dopplers. I've decided against one as when I feel movements that will be reassurance enough.

Sallypuss · 12/05/2008 08:43

Hi all

Know what you mean about 'blooming' bumps - last weekend I just had a tubby stomach, this week a proper bump - like Aubergenie, I was offered two seats on the Tube on Friday - long may it continue!

I have my 16 week antenatal appointment this morning - know it's all routine but can't help feeling a little nervous.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine.

minervaitalica · 12/05/2008 09:40

Bump has grown here as well (just over 19 weeks). DH went onto a business trip for a few days last week and had a it of a shock when he came back!

Sallypuss - try to relax if you can - after all you will get the chance to listen to your LO heartbeat!!! (mind you I am sure I will be here freaking out when it come to my 20 week scan)...

hedgepig · 12/05/2008 10:17

glad to see we have bumps developing one of my colleagues made me really paranoid on Friday. I'm 19 weeks and she was saying I wasn't showing etc, I am on the plum side anyway but I though I was looking quite pregnant. She wasn't being horrid or anything she is very slim and i think she say it as a positive.

ChilledBunny · 12/05/2008 10:39

Hi all. haven't posted for a while as got a bit freaked out about something happening to my little one and me not knowing about it! But I went to a car boot sale yesterday, saw a doppler being sold and got it for £2.50

After 2 attempts in the afternoon where i couldn't hear anything, I tried again in the evening (when little ones are supposed to be more active) and found the heartbeat.
I let myself have another quick listen this morning and heard it again plus a few kicks, and still have a stupid grin on my face I've put it away now though as I too have my 16 week midwife appt this week, so think I can wait il then now. I must say though, that at only 16 weeks I feel quite a way behind most people on this thread!

hedgepig · 12/05/2008 11:46

wow chiledbunny how brilliant and only for £2.50. I daren't get a Doppler I would scare myself stupid with one.

SmudgeyDoodle · 12/05/2008 11:59

I've got a MW appointment this afternoon - my first one apart from the booking in which was done at hospital. i have to take DS with me though which could be quite a challenge. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and bump has definitely popped out. Belly button starting to do the same too which I'm quite upset about as managed to get to about 7 months last time before it gave up. LOL at Sallypuss being offered 2 seats - your bump must be huge to need 2
I need to get some summer maternity stuff but am looking on ebay as can't really justify buying new. The only problem is that you don't know if they'll be the right size so could be a false economy.
Whover said about starting to need pillows in bed. I've had one between knees/under belly for about 6 weeks already. I think I just like to keep DH at pillowslength!
Better to do the ironing I suppose. But I did cut the grass yesterday so feeling quite virtuous about that. Take care all.

SmudgeyDoodle · 12/05/2008 12:01

Just remembered. All of sudden my boobs have got huge and yesterday when DS cried properly (an I've hurt myself not a whinge) it felt like I had let down. Is this normal? I'm not still feeding him because he stopped as soon as I was pregnant. Hoping I'm not going to start leaking evertime he cries.....

ronshar · 12/05/2008 12:38

Smudgeydoodle. I have not breast fed for three years and I felt the tell tale tingling whilst out shopping the other day. There were loads of crying babies, everywhere. Lucky no leakage. Yet!

How is everyone getting on with the heat. I seem to have been knocked off my feet. I have slowed right down. Which isnt good as I wasnt going very fast to start with.

I had a lovely pedicure this morning. Not sure if baby liked it though as I was being kicked very thoroughly. I could just make it out through my top. Cool.

hedgepig · 12/05/2008 13:22

ronshar I have been shade seeking for most of the weekend. I hung the washing up in the sun yesterday and I nearly keeled over. There is some wind here today which is helping.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/05/2008 15:14

Afternoon ladies. Bump growing here too.

Head swimming a bit with diabetes stuff at the moment, so struggling to focus on much else. Consultant was confident it was gestational rather than type 2 though, so it's not all bad thankfully.
