Hi Lesley21 I am also new (to this thread) I would like to be the first to welcome you. (maybe you could send me a little welcome back, it would also be my first!)
It can sometimes be very hard to 'fit in'to an already 'established' small group of people, without feeling that your not very welcome, but I think we should both give it a try. Wow, your getting married in 3 weeks, what date? are you planning to go on a holiday? hope your 20 week scan goes ok, mine is on the 20th June (baby due 23rd Oct) I have been a week early with 2 of my pregnancies and on time with the other 2. Hope I'm a little early with this one as really need plenty of time to get back into shape before I return to work next June. I have had loads of nausea but have started to feel ok now. I have also had side pains on and off since becoming pregnant, although I no longer worry about them (since having my booking in appt/scan)just put them down to stretching of ligaments/growing pains
Hope you enjoy being on this thread, there's still a long time to go before October, and every one could do with a few words of encouragement now and again. (good luck with your wedding plans!)x

Emmsy1 · 05/05/2008 09:19

immo congrats, glad your scan went well. It's such a relief when you see your baby moving, and it actually looks like a tiny human! The best is when all the recordings in your ante-natal notes say 'visualised with normal appearance' that's when I start to relax and feel better about the pregnancy. It's a pity they wouldn't let you know what the sex of the baby is (especially since you wanted to know. Where are you from?
I live on the Wirral (across the Mersey from Liverpool)and they tell you the baby's sex if you want to know it. I definately want to know what sex the baby is, I think it's hard enough planning names and clothes for the little one, the choice should be the parents (I suppose the hospital sometimes gets it wrong, although they have always been right with me!)

Welcome Emmsy and Lesley, and welcome back 07mtw and mumtojr - great to see that my cull is bringing some of you back out of the woodwork!

Having a busy weekend here. Saturday we spent at the village festival, with dd taking part in the toddler group carnival float. Yesterday we had 2 parties to go to, and today I think we're going to go to Knebworth. Hope everyone else is having a good one too.

Hello all and welcome to the newbies (I'm no longer the newest newbie now - yeah!).

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend - great weather down here in deepest Essex just perfect for trying to hoover the car and rid it of dog hair - oh, I know how to live

Thanks all for your opinions on the fetal doppler. I did succumb and it arrived promptly the day after I ordered it. Dh and I listened to the heart beat that night - what a wonderful sound. Have used it every other day since despite being deafened on a couple of occasions when junior has kicked the sensor. Can feel the occasional stirring in there but not sure if it's junior or a bad case of wind yet. Ho hum. 16 week appointment next Monday so will see what that brings....

Lozza70 · 05/05/2008 10:53

Morning all, so glad it's a bank hol!! Welcome to Emmsey and Lesley

We have had a busy bank hol weekend so far. We were in Wales at a wedding which was lovely and I treated myself to a glass of bucks fizz to toast the happy couple. Just chilling out today and they reckon it may even get up to 23 degrees with sunshine in London today so back garden here I come.

accessorizequeen · 05/05/2008 13:04

Welcome to emmsy and lesley (can't believe you're getting married too! .

hans - ginger ale or sparkling mineral water helped a lot with my trapped wind.

Emmsy1 · 05/05/2008 13:45

Thanks for the welcome girls!

07mumstheword · 05/05/2008 16:33

Hi Emmsy I recognise you from the TTC thread glad to hear you are doing well. I'm still amazed by the fact this is No. 5 for you

I'm so of all this great weather you're reporting as we haven't had a bit of sunshine and there's just been a shower Still DH treating me and DD to tea at the local Italian so I'm happy not to be cooking

pepperrabbit · 05/05/2008 18:57

welcome emmsy & lesley, and welcome back anyone who's been AWOL!
We've been busy here too, planted all my veg seeds "helped" by DS1 so goodness knows what we'll get this year! DS2 just randomly dug everything back up so that adds to the confusion still, it was better than them trying to help DH with the hedge cutting.
Really quite tired now, so planning to eat the rest of their pizza for my tea (we had roast beef as a treat for lunch - and DS1 actually consumed some ) then bath and bed rapidly following the kids, I may try to wait till it's dark so I still feel like a grown up though

Emmsy1 · 05/05/2008 19:21

07MTW glad all is still ok with you, it's been ages since we last spoke. I am still part of the conception topics, even have my own waiting room!(the cheek of me!)it's nice to offer the other girls a little encouragement with TTC, pop in there now and again, you will notice a lot of familiar faces (mibbes who is pregnant, cricri also pregnant, and a few still trying hard, like Ei,sparkly (think she used to be called clouisewood),fruity mooliemooma etc... they will love to hear how you are doing!

Jambers99 · 06/05/2008 07:55

Morning everyone - what a glorious bank holiday weekend, we had loads of sunshine and enjoyed some day trips out. We're going on holiday to Dorset at the end of next week, so I really hope the good weather holds.

I also had DS 'helping' me in the garden, though he got rather wet using the watering can and I'm not sure very much water actually reached the plants. He's at that really curious toddler phase which includes poking spiders etc, not great since I hate the things - but I have to say 'good boy' etc so he doesn't inherit my phobia!

Welcome to Emmsy & Lesley, and welcome back MumtoJakeyRoo & 07mumstheword. Great to have more people on the thread, we've still got a lot of time to kill before October. Anyone else who might be lurking but not posting, do come and join us!

Happy birthday Pistachio.
Welcome to all the new girls. How have you managed for so long without joining in.
Emmsy were you on the MC avengers thread? Sorry if not you.

I have a melon sized bump in the morning too. It dissapears for the rest of the day and comes back at bed time.
Bethoo I have been looking out for your orgasm symptom. I am happy to report yes its true.

I too have had great trouble sleeping. Why is that? Is that common to all of us?

The sunshine is here at last. What a fantastic time of year.

twinklytoes · 06/05/2008 10:16

morning. the sun is shining here too! can't wait to peg some washing out on the line.

hello to emmsy and immo - welcome. hi to all the awol girls too.

is anyone off to the baby show at the NEC next weekend (15th-17th). I got a free ticket from work so thinking of going on friday.

snowymum thought I'd ask you here just in case you don't see the other thread. if you want to join the parentcraft classes at the Horton then you need to book them before 20wks - they are pretty much oversubscribed. Also ward tours are on sunday afternoons.

bethoo · 06/05/2008 10:50

ronshar thanks. my bump tends to be more left sided though i thik it is the way the baby is lying. i know he/she is ok as doppler tells me but can still not feel any movements and am now 18 weeks. i suppose it may be because i have curiously developed several extra inches of fat around my midriff! >>>

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/05/2008 12:04

Happy birthday pistachio .

I take it your GTT gave you the all clear Bethoo?

I'm actually sleeping better at the moment. Not sure if it's just a naturally good spell, or if it's driven by the GD, as extreme tiredness is a common symptom.

OP posts:
bethoo · 06/05/2008 12:08

CSWS never heard back from them so take it as all clear though mw said that if clear will be tested again at 28 weeks. surprised i was ok actually as the initial finger prick test was 5.9 and the cut off was 6 so thought that was pretty high to start with considering i had inot eaten since the night before but what do i know?
so have you got GD already?

minervaitalica · 06/05/2008 13:36

Hello!

Sunshine's great isn't it? I am soo much better when the weather is nice - even went for a swim this am as I felt all summery and active.

Am 18+4 today, so only 2 weeks to go before the 20 weeks scan. However, I went to my GP today for the monthly check and she found the heartbeat, so that's a relief. I have to say that so far I found the GP much more helpful than the hospital/midwives - I have been there twice and it was just paperwork, no one bothered to examine me or even ask me how I was. I wonder whether i shold get worried...

oliviaelanasmum · 06/05/2008 13:48

Hi everyone
The sunshine has kept me busy! Have had a lovely weekend with picnics, paddles and parties!
The dd's found the heartbeat with the doppler on saturday which excited them! Getting small stirrings but no kicks yet, have my 15 week m/w appointment tommorow morning and my triple test in a fortnight.
Have recieved my scan date (16th June) its the week i come back from spain. Getting very exicted about my holiday now, the dd's are too!
Hope everyone is well
x

bethoo · 06/05/2008 13:52

am of those who can feel movement!!!

sambrads · 06/05/2008 13:58

sugr and beaka i am so so sorry to hear of your news

i have been away for a few days and have been trying to catch up on everyone

bethoo hope your feeling better soon i had a bug and it was awful .

emmsy its so lovely to see you agan i have seen you have started up your own thread its great i am glad that crici is pregnant she was my cycle buddy on the ttc thread .

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/05/2008 16:14

bethoo - yes it seems like it. Result was 7.9 and the threshold is 7.8, but as it was so close they want me to monitor my bloods at home for a bit before they officially classify me. Have been told not to have any sugar in the meantime, and only wholewheat pasta/rice/bread etc. Will be shown how to do the monitoring on Thursday. There's a lot of diabetes in my family, so I guess I was lucky to escape it last time, but I'm finding it a complete pain already, especially as it means that I can't have ice cream in this gorgeous weather!

OP posts:
snowymum · 06/05/2008 20:42

Thanks twinklytoes - that's thoughtful of you to let me know about the horton waiting list. I might not be able to, since currently (boring story) I'm registered in London, moving house to Oxford area early June, can't register with new GP until then apparantly and therefore no way of booking in to Horton. Hey ho - will have to keep fingers crossed. Maybe I'll just phone them direct.

Emmsy1 · 06/05/2008 20:47

Thanks again for the welcome ladies!
Sambrads lovely to see you, really pleased that all is going well with your pregnancy, yeah the thread is going really well, but we seem to have hit a brick wall with the bfp's!
cricri is one of my favourite buddys, she often comes into 'Emmsy's' waiting room, I have just recently joined the knicker checker's thread, it was cricri who invitied me. Ronshar hi, yes it was me on the miscarriage avengers thread,I still pop in now and again to see the girls, I had a m/c last September and last April, that's one of the reasons I wouldn't join this thread. It was a horrible experience having to leave the ante-natal thread after my last m/c, especially since I didn't know anyone on the other threads. So when I got my bfp I stayed on the conception thread, but to show sensitivity to the girls who may not have been able to cope with a pregnant girl on the same thread, I opened my own thread! It's visited by pregnant and non-pregnant girls. I don't half waffle, don't I!
