sambrads i was nto too keen on the p&t but have warmed to it, i did not like the idea of baby hidden underneath and had visions of accidently kicking it or plowing it through puddles but no that low and ideally it is the only one that will prob fit through my door and the bus and in the non pram friendly clothes shops! will have a look out for your techno side by side though. the only reason i am getting a double buggy is cos ds will jsut be walking. i already have a pram and a folding buggy at home and love my pram!!! it is one of those that goes into a seat and is reversible. an i really justify three buggies? i guess when ds is older i can ditch the p&t. oh i am such a hoarder and cant throw anything out!!
and getting a cross trainer this week and have no idea where it si going to fit in the living room!!

Sallypuss · 28/04/2008 13:02

Thanks all for advice on the doppler/listening device. Ebay it will be tonight then!

ronshar · 28/04/2008 13:28

Thats where I bought mine sally. I think about £25 pounds from an American company. Came very quickly too.

Hi everyone, i have a bf200 doppler which i bought for £35 from ebay and it is brilliant. Im a size 20 and could pick up the heartbeat last week @13 weeks.
I have just sold my maclaren twin as it was too wide for my pavements, so i have no choice but to get a tandem. Have also been looking at the Zoom, as i would like to have baby in a carrycot for the first few weeks, and as dd3 will only be 13 months i will need it for quite a while so dp cant complain too much about the cost!
Im trying to get a set of trouser extenders as im not ready for maternity but im going to spain in 5 weeks and think my summer clothes will be too tight then as i'll be 19 weeks.

rosebury · 28/04/2008 19:36

Evening Ladies I have just been reading the April thread, there are loads of them and it was lovely reading the list of new babies names and weights etc. I cannot inagine us all getting to that stage although I know we will. I must be really out of touch with modern thinking as the april may threads were all talking about inserting evening primrose oil capsules into thier fanjo to soften the cervix to encourage labour what is wrong with the old fashioned shag its much more fun, what is the world coming to.

Anyone else feeling emotional crying every time the news comes on I had a real hormonal moment yesterday I was discussing with dh what to do eg go for a walk in the sunshine or maybe go to a relatives cup final football match, he did not want to go to the match but offered to take me well that was it I hit the roof was he trying to get rid of me why did he not want to spend quality time with his wife etc etc a couple of hours of crying then a couple of hours sleep was the result but today we can both look back at it laughing bless our hormones we cant help it can we.

moodywren · 28/04/2008 19:48

I finally have a scan date. Its on Thursday when by my dates I'll be 16 weeks so don't think it'll be much good as a dating scan.

I am worried my 20 week scan will be delayed too, or maybe they won't bother doing one at all.

I am starting to feel little movements now so at least I know there is something in there.

oliviaelanasmum · 28/04/2008 20:01

I put the primrose oil in my fanjo when i was pregnant with dd2 and again with dd3, not sure it really worked though

accessorizequeen · 28/04/2008 20:24

moodywren, I had my scan at 16+6 last week and they said it was still fine as a dating scan, I was concerned as well. It's a long wait, isn't it?

bethoo · 28/04/2008 20:53

i have also discovered another tandem, the icandy do one though quite heavy but then arent they all?

was upstairs tidying after Hayden and heard a noise at the door! now i rarely get visitors if any and was surprised to see my parents at the door! thank dog i had tidied hte living room aand upstairs though the kitchen is another story! one of the cats had left a lovely trail of cat puke on the floor (whcih needs a good wash!) and greasy tins and oven shelves draped all over the benches awaiting the eventual wash! oh the shame!

back on my salads and i have really missed that fresh feeling, youi know crisy lettuce and succulent juicy tomatoes, tonight they were topped with chicken ham and mature grated cheddar and a few dollops of mayo! yum

hedgepig · 28/04/2008 20:54

I put almond oil on mine but I ended up with a cs anyway so that was a bit of a waste of time . Looking back I'm not sure how I reached !

rosebury I am mega emotional at the moment too, I can't read or watch anything sad at all cos I just blub.

emkay · 28/04/2008 21:34

I got a hugabub sling (i.e. just really long piece of stretchy cloth!) because I found all the other slings gave me shoulder and back ache when DD was bigger, e.g. 7 / 8 months. Although it took a while to learn how to put on - think origami in cloth! - it was incredibly comfortable, secure and effective. Really looking forward to trying it with a newborn though will probably borrow a baby bjorn again too just to have something I can wear quickly.

accessorize - my friend with twins went for a side-by-side buggy rather than P&T because she didn't feel it was fair for either baby not to be able to see properly and has got on really well - I can ask her what brand it was and if she's got any other tips. She's loved having two in one go - boy and a girl!

hedgepig · 28/04/2008 22:12

I have just looked up the hugabub sling on their web site, it looks very secure once the baby is in but a bit complicated to put on. Were you able to do it on your own? The sling i had last time was a 2 person task to get on.
My ds will be 5 when the baba is born so I don't need double buggies or anything, but he is very used to moving freely so I don't want to be lumbering after him with apram all the time.

pepperrabbit · 28/04/2008 22:16

We have the Mamas & Papas twin buggy which is a side by side from when DS2 was born and used it loads so we'll be re-using this one again. I liked it - I mean, it is wide but fitted through all the shop doors and my front door, doesn't telescope when it collapses (I think the macLaren does?) so you need a wide boot for it to go in the car. Comes with trays in front of each which was sooo useful for snacks and even full lunches when out. I was never quite keen on the idea of having the baby in the shopping basket! though the newer P&Ts seem more sympathetic somehow.

oliviaelanasmum · 29/04/2008 10:45

Morning all
It's not very sunny in Norfolk today Typically it was lovely when i was pegging the nappies out but it has come over all grey!
Have booked my triple test, and my midwife appointment for next week, as if not i will forget. This pregnancy has left with me with a brain of fuzz!
Dp thinks i have started to show now, but i didn't have the heart to tell him that was just flab
Hope everyone is feeling well.

rosebury · 29/04/2008 11:47

Morning olicia where is everyone this morning cloudy here in Bristol got the heating on again such a shame after such a fab weekend.

As you all know i am feeling emotional still tearful today at the news on tv even the interview with Gordon Brown set me off. Was anyone brave enough to watch coronation street last night it is going to be upsetting all week, how dare they put such a storyline on when I am pregnant.

SmudgeyDoodle · 29/04/2008 12:42

MOrning everyone. Just want to say that it's lovely and sunny up in the Toon. My washing is out, back door open and the grass desperately needs cutting. I think I'll have to bribe DH to do it before he goes away next week. Thanks for info about slings. I think I'll have a reread when I've got my head around the LO a bit more. DS is now definitely walking, and very proud of himself. Meeting up with old work colleagues next week and have a vision of me spending the whole lunchtime trying to pin him down and stop him running off! Rosebury, step away from the TV, it's the only answer to the emotional outbursts

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2008 17:39

Afternoon all, it's miserable here, wet and dull all day, and now absolutely pouring down. The boys are trying to kill each other and I'm cooking sausages.
All very mundane.....

Ekka · 29/04/2008 17:53

Its miserable here too pepperrabbit.... I had a sudden burst of energy this morning and instead of resting while dd had her nap I did loads of cooking. Am now shattered, have run out of ideas for things to do with dd and am wondering how early I will cave in and put on a kiddies dvd to entertain her till bedtime . The only way I get over the 'bad mother' feeling is by making sure its a baby einstein dvd so I can tell myself its educational!!!!!!

Funny how when I was pregnant the 1st time round I had all these ideals of perfect motherhood that I would achieve, now its just a case of survival - it can only be downhill from here

bethoo · 29/04/2008 17:57

i think i have nausea again as been feeling sick since i ate lunch! cant eat anything and just want to sleep! i thought i was done with all that!

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2008 17:59

I'm feeling almost virtuous in as much as I held out till 5pm to put CBeebies on. That practically makes me a parenting goddess!
Sausages done now so at least they're quiet and eating. Though I feel an early bath coming on!
Ekka - I don't even own a baby einstein DVD I know what you mean about all those good intentions...

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2008 18:00

bethoo - could it be a sugar thing? That always made me feel crap.

hedgepig - you can put the hugabub on yourself although you really do need to watch the video in order to work it out! Once you know how it is easy and certainly more comfortable and secure than the hammock style sling I had. I think these things are really personal though so might be an idea to visit a nearly new sale if you can and actually try some out there and then before buying.

Lozza70 · 29/04/2008 19:42

Evening everyone. Back from a weekend at home. Telling my parents the good news and celebrating my neice's first birthday. It was a lovely weekend but my hormones got the better of me at the airport on the way back. We had hand luggage only, which my family did not know, and I didn't know but my Mum and sister had put some little gifts into my bag to celebrate our news. Mum to be toiletries and my favourite home made jam. So I was pulled over at security my bag was detail searched and they took all my presents off me and threw them into the bin in front of me. To say the tears fell freely was an understatement I know it's security but I was mad as hell but could not say anything as airport security is not the place to be kicking off. DH had a job calming me down and I'm kind of embarrassed for crying in public like that, it's not really me Anyway calming down about the whole thing now.

Started my new job yesterday and it's manic but fantastic. Will just have to try and get as much done before September so they take me back after the baby!
