That sounds like fun Pistachio - i'd like to go to a baby show

Just found out my SIL still has most of the baby stuff i lent her so i don't need to go and buy it all again! just need to get maternity clothes and baby clothes as i gave them all away

rosebury · 26/04/2008 19:59

Evening ladies iv not been on for a while time does fly when your growing so fast.

Who mentioned those swear words WEIGHT GAIN
as soon as I get pregnant I blow up like a balloon but it is all belly and boobs I am normally a nice size 10 and at the moment I am wearing size 18 in normal jogging bottoms a great buy from jjb £12 and really comfy I have just grown out of my 14s maternity jeans and have had to buy 16s. I am 5.2 tall and have lots of children all very good birth weights my last one was 9lb 4oz so my skin becomes bery stretched I have no stretch marks and have never used any creams or oils sorry ladies but it is probably genetic. Using creams is probably very nice for the baby though.

Aproblem I do have is indegestion it has kicked in and I know that it will get worse
I remember from last time having gaviscon in large bottles from the chemist every other day, maybe I cant complain as I do not get morning sickness or stretch marks. A little tip you can get gaviscon on prescription from your mw or gp.

I will stop now as I could go on all night.

minervaitalica · 26/04/2008 20:18

2 pounds???? 2 pounds???????? Aaaaaaaargh I put on at least 10, most of which was in the first trimester... And I have been going to the gym pretty regularly and eating OK (well, bar green and black chocolate ice-cream).

At least it is all bump (wishful thinking...).

Don't talk about weight! I have put on a stone already! And I don't even feel like I have eaten that much as I have had really bad sickness.
I put on 4 stone with DD1 and finally last year got back into a size 10 after doing the Cambridge diet. (Whoops, think I will have undone all my hard work) I think some people are more prone to weight gain with pregnancy than others.

Stretch marks are def genetic. I used palmers and clarins all through 1st preg but still got them. On the plus side if you use something and still get them you know you did all you could to avoid them. And it's allways nice to pamper yourself

SmudgeyDoodle · 27/04/2008 08:28

Hi Borntotwinkle - I like your name, it's very
There do seem to be a lot of us. Whoever said that Jan was a cold month might be on to something!
Whoever was asking about free stuff, it's when you join the various parenting clubs. You mostly get sent vouchers for money off X,Y and Z but last time there were some proper free with voucher things. Worth doing if you can put up with all the crap you then get!
Who knows about slings? I, like a few others, am hoping to get away with not getting a double buggy. Was thinking about either an ergo or a coorie sling. Anyone got experiences?? Hoping to BF again so would like one that you really can feed in as opposed to one that says you can feed in but only if you are some contortionist and your baby has hoover lips!

immo · 27/04/2008 09:42

Hi guys,
I would like to join all of u. i am due on 12th oct and currently i am in my 17th week. This will be my first baby and i am really excited abt it. I reside in Canada but currently i am in India...I will be travelling back to Toronto next month. I have loads of question to ask but dunt knw where to start frm...so far i had my 2 scan first at 7th week and found out that my yolk sac was slightly irregular...later did one more scan at 9th week and found out that both the baby and yolk sac was fine. I had my triple blood test done at 1th week and it came as low risk. I will be having my 3 d anomaly scan on 3rd may and i will be around in my 18th week at that time. I guess in U.K and Canada they offer at 20th week. I hope i am not doing my scan early.

I have or i can say now that i had Hypermesis gravidurum disorder from 4th till 14th week. Due to constant nausea and vomiting i had lost almost 5 kgs and was admitted in the hospital several times due to dehydration. But everything seems to pass out now. Since last 2 weeks i am feeling great and now i can finally put something in my mouth. I guess i have to wait couple of more weeks to finally see my lil bump. It just seems like i have lil fat around my stomach and thats it. People are still finding it hard to beleive that i am pregnant. When do u actually start to show?????i dunt have any appetite...is this normal in ur second trimester??? Oh btw i am 25 years old and i weigh 48 kgs rite now.

Sallypuss · 27/04/2008 14:11

I'm thinking of buying a fetal doppler (after initially saying to myself that I wouldn't) as I can't wait 7 weeks till the next scan to reassure myself that everything is ok in there....! Just wondering what other people's experiences are of them and whether you would recommend buying one or a particular brand.

Thanks in advance.

bethoo · 27/04/2008 15:00

Sallypuss i have an Anglesounds doppler and i have no problems with it. use it everyday to check all is ok.

i have finally succumbed and looks like i will have to get a Phil and Teds double buggy as quite compact and light to manouvre and get through my front door and get on the bus!

lol at comment earlier ref hoover mouth! my ds can still be sucking away three inches from my boob! yes my nipples are now rather stretchy!!

BubbaAndBump · 27/04/2008 19:34

Sallypuss - my sis had a doppler thingy as her 1st pg ended in miscarriage so she understandably got a bit scared - but sometimes she couldn't hear the heartbeat with next pg and panicked more than necess. ~ baby was born without any probs so prob a good thing unless you're a bit nervous.

Pistachio - do you fancy doing a MIL exchange!?!

btw I'm due on 14th, but not on list yet

pepperrabbit · 27/04/2008 20:27

Evening all, I'm the only one still up here as we've been away for my step-mother-in-laws birthday weekend, which was excellent but everyone is shattered. We all have to stayin the same room, DH drank too much (but it is his family!) and snored which kept me and the boys awake, then we had a fab day at Longleat yesterday then a full on evening again and a walk this morning. I'm only still up cos DH is in the bathroom!
I have sunburn! and only 2 weeks ago it was snowing - what's that all about???
I had my hospital booking in last wed - 3 hours in total and maybe 20 minutes of midwife/consultant time . I know they're busy but it's soooo frustrating!
I have to have GTTs at 20/24/28 weeks this time (deep joy) but they found no sugar trace this week in a finger test so I escaped a 16 week one as well!
Did get to hear the heartbeat which is lovely, other than that I don't even think about being pregnant most of the time - I seem to be too busy which is dreadful.
Welcome to the newbies - do you think all the October ladies have confessed now - there are loads of us!!

oliviaelanasmum · 27/04/2008 20:50

I think september and october are always busy, i had my baby last september and i was the last woman admitted before they closed the doors on the maternity unit as it was full! If i hadn't made it i'd have had an hours drive to another hospital
Hoping there wont be quite so many this time!!
I have been looking at a phil&teds but im going to get a kolcraft tandem so i can have them both facing me, my mum is having a huge caravan trailer shipped from america in 8 weeks so the rep has said he will pick it up for me and stick it in the trailer so i sont have to pay shipping! With the dollar being so low it will only be £100ish! Just got to sell my beloved bugaboo now!
I haven't weighed myself since i had my booking in appointment but im still wearing my clothes, last time i didnt show until i was about 26 weeks I am a larger lady though!

bethoo · 27/04/2008 21:58

olivia that is nice the kolcraft tandem. can you get me one? what are the reviews like? are they lightweight?

pistachio was on the phil and teds website and there is a nice new one out and i like the cocoon you can buy to go with it. looks cosy i would not mind having one for me!

i have been getting pains in my tummy today but more like i need to go to the loo iykwim but appear to be constipated so maybe that is it?

17 weeks tomorrow!

oliviaelanasmum · 27/04/2008 22:07

The review seem good but loads of people complain that its heavy to lift but as i do loads of walking it will be up permantly in the hallway, and as i cant drive dp will always be here to put it into the bus. I dont think it folds really small but we are getting a minibus as we are planning another baby after this one if all goes well!

accessorizequeen · 27/04/2008 22:27

hello all, i'm really not managing to keep up much I'm afraid. Welcome immo all the way from canada via india!

coming to terms with twins, can't believe only one with the huge list of expectant mums on here! Due 1st Oct officially, csws! but these will be Sept babies if not August!

Only things I've picked up in my quick scan are slings and buggies! I've seen p&t's everywhere lately, I know why people like them but the coccoons seem so tiny once the babies get bigger. Now I'm looking at an MB double anyway! I have an ergo too and don't think it's great as a newborn sling even with the insert which is very faffy (from the video I've seen). I have a hotsling pouch which was great for quick trips, and am thinking of a hugabub that kind of thing for use with the twins. UK Babywearing swap on Yahoo good for 2nd hand slings/wraps, I've just joined it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2008 09:00

Very quick hello from me. Was away on a hen weekend so not been around.

Welcome to immo and b2t.

I don't have an ergo, but did try one at at a baby show, and it was impossible to put on by myself, and even the guy selling them thought it was hard with 2 people to put on!

bethoo · 28/04/2008 09:08

pistachio - i might look on ebay nearer the time of birth as you can also get new ones cheaper. but does the new one called dash i think start from newborn as i noticed that the cocoon was only stated tofit te classic p&t. to be hoinest i was quite surprised at the size of the P&T as i always thought they were huge, i am thinking of when the first 3 wheelers came out and those ones were huge!

sambrads · 28/04/2008 09:25

hello ladies have been looking at the threads and trying to catch up but there is so much to read

as for double buggies i hate the phil and teds dont like the thought of my newborn being stuck under the pram and there is no storage at all so its not for me

i put my son in the front part as the double seat will have to sit in the front if you have a newborn and my ds looked far too big it was scary

im going to get the maclaren twin techno its a side by side but very compact .

it comes with two head rests two footmuffs and a rain cover all for £200 which is great!!

ronshar · 28/04/2008 10:35

I am a bit jealous of you ladies dicussing buggies. My DH has informed me that as we still have the pram from DD2 then we dont need a new one! DD2 is four in September so I feel really I would like a new one. Oh well we shall see who wins this one.
Would I be right in thinking that the bugaboo is only really any good if you are short. They look so low down.

I have just had a blissful 5mins listening to my little baby. All the gurgles and the pounding of its little heart. What heaven that is. I have a listening rather than a doppler device. It takes a while to get used to all the sounds but when you do do brilliant.

Has anyone else here been told they have an ovarian cyst. I got one with DD2 but it was only small. This time I have another one and it was 5cm at my 13 week scan. Should I push to get it checked before my 21 week scan? It is a bit painful but not all the time. I am a bit concerned if it gets too big there will be problems with space for the baby.

rach010 · 28/04/2008 11:04

Sally i have been using doppler since 12 weeks but only starting hearing heartbeat at 13 weeks so was a little concerned at 1st but now i listen every few days.

I weigh 5lb heavier which seems quite good since i've been eating for non stop!! Last pregnancy i put on nearly 4 stone but most of it was water, hoping not to be so big this time as i'm only 5ft1 so looked hideous!!!
