caramelbunny · 25/04/2008 07:41

Oh accessorizequeen what a shock that must have been! I got twin fear before the scan and was quite relieved there was only one. You'll be fine, surprised there haven't been more twin scans.

Jambers99 · 25/04/2008 07:51

Congrats accessorizequeen! How exciting (and daunting) to be having twins. Really hope all goes well for you.

Went out for a huge chinese last night, so I think my pregnancy bump mainly consists of crispy duck at the moment.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/04/2008 07:54

accessorizequeen - I had been thinking it was surprising that we didn't have any multiples on this thread. Exciting but scary with a small age gap too. Sure you'll get lots of advice from the multiples ladies on here. What due date did you get?

bethoo - I can disprove your theory - no sweet cravings last time and had a girl.

OP posts:
bethoo · 25/04/2008 09:44

CSWS - oh dear now that has thrown me as i was sure i was having another boy!! oh dear, maybe my mum and sister and friend are right as thye think i am having a girl! my mindset was a boy! nevermind!
some gorgeous littel clothes for newborns in mothercare if anyone has been there recently nd hope they will still be there when i have my next scan!

acessorize - wow, that must have been a shock, i was sure i was having twins but just a singleton for me! has the shock set in yet?

Sallypuss · 25/04/2008 10:25

CSWS Thanks for posting the roll call - I've had my 12 week scan (couldn't wait until 15 weeks so made a private appointment)

Accessorizequeen - congratulations on twins, hope all goes well.

bethoo - another one who goes against the theory - craved lots of sweet stuff last time and had a boy.
Accessorizequeen - that's great news but I can totally understand your fear. I didn't sleep the night before the scan alternating between fear of no heartbeat and fear of twins! Have you got local support?
CSWS - can you put my due date as 22nd please as they've settled on that date. I'm not sure anyone has told LO though...
Hope the scan is ok Sparkles. Whatever the date, we need you to stay as you've got lots of experience and wise words!
Perkypopsy you might be entitled to maternity allowance too - worth checking the dates for just over 100 quid a week!
Toomuchtime, I didn't really get stretch marks last time and didn't really do much. I did fairly regularly moisturise my tummy with cream that I got free when I joined Boots Parenting Club. Anyone know if you can join again to get all the freebies again?

SmudgeyDoodle · 25/04/2008 12:19

pistachio - very envious of your morning. I went to pilates with DS and he jumped all over me and pulled my hair. Know where I'd rather have been! Are your in-laws staying all day? Can you send them my way please?

rach010 · 25/04/2008 13:11

Hi

CSWS can you put me as a yes for scan please?

All seems fine with me, don't feel very pregnant but just enjoying not feeling soooo tired.

Midwife on Thursday for me so hoping to hear heartbeat.

Not sure if i have felt movements or if its just wind .

Hooray for all the good scans etc.

KSal · 25/04/2008 15:05

quick question - i have had a couple of instances in the last week of tiny amounts of blood with no associated cramping. am i right to assume this is probably ok? next MW appointment is 12th and i was just going to let her know then...

beakas · 25/04/2008 16:03

thanks smudgey and CSWS for your advice, am seeing midwife on Monday so will see if she has any wise words to add- I haven't had the birth to 5 book yet so will see if she has a copy.

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 25/04/2008 16:48

Hi ladies

scan went well they said i'm 14 weeks and due on 24th Oct so i can officially stay on here

Sumdgey - thanks, i'm not sure how many wise words i have, but the experience is there i guess

toomuchtimeonline · 25/04/2008 17:02

ksal - I'm sure a very small amount of browny blood is ok as there is a lot going on in there - but have no real experience - if you are worried perhaps you should call your midwife for a quick chat to put your mind at rest..

Aubergenie - you're a couple of weeks further on than me - did you only just start to feel the movement? Mine feels more like someone is brushing slightly against my bladder every now and then - could that be the baby or is just general pregnancy stuff? I too am still feeling knackered - I'm waiting for all of the energy and blooming of the second trimester..

cantsleep - thanks so much for adding me on - it feels all official now! You can add a yes to my name too - had the 12w scan and all was ok Also it is quite comforting that you didn't get any strechmarks in your last pregnancy - I got growing stretchmarks when I was a teenager so I assumed that I would definitely get them with pregnancy but I guess there is hope.

bethoo - I'm using biooil so hopefully that will help - hoping the weight gain is going ok - how much has everyone else put on? I put nothing on in the first 12 weeks and have put 2 pounds on in the last 2 weeks..

accessorizequeen congratulations on the twins!! You'll have no end of fun with 2 babies

smudgydoodle what is all this free stuff you speak of - I haven't had any yet..
everyone else - I'm hoping to catch up and work out who you all are as I go.. so sorry if I've missed anything important!

p.s. feel free to call me toomuch if my name gets too long for you

toomuchtimeonline · 25/04/2008 17:03

Anyway.. I'm off home now - I'll try and catch up at the weekend but I often struggle to get online.. speak to you all soon!

caramelbunny Yes dd is getting better although slowly. She is still covered in scabs, poor things she had it everywhere (eyes, bum (front and back) and hair) she was so uncomfortable. She has now got a stinking cold and cough, its such a shame, she never really gets poorly but I think at least it is all in one go and over and done with. Did your dd get it bad? Its awful to see them covered like that, my dd is now picking!!!

Congrats accessorizequeen, thats lovely news, I had a secret wish that I was going to have twins as the thought was lovely! Also it would have explained why I am big already! Are there twins in your family?

As for the food issue (sweet and savoury) I just want it all

twinklytoes · 25/04/2008 20:05

evening all. hello to all the newbies and congrats to accessorize - was only thinking yesterday why there wasn't any twins yet.

can't remember who it was that was moving to oxford but I'm local (sort of - north oxfordshire)- so may be nice to meet up.

its a busy weekend here - DD1 is 5. she started rainbows tonight; has her first proper swimming lessons tomorrow and then its her party on sunday.

myjob - hope minehead wasn't as windy this week. just thought I'd let you know to check your bank account - my parents personal and business debit cards were cloned last week at butlins. they only used them in the supermarket and gift shop in the centre.

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 25/04/2008 20:15

Haven't felt any kicks yet but then i haven't been noticing them as i thought i was only 12 weeks

No stretch marks here at all, i've just used Vaseline Intensive Care all over every time, fingers crossed it will work this time too!!

oliviaelanasmum · 25/04/2008 20:27

Evening all
Has anyone thought of any names yet? We are thinking of Finley for a boy and Darcy-Leigh for a girl but it's likely to change before oct!!

born2twinkle · 25/04/2008 20:30

Hello all.
Do you mind if I join u? Haven't read all the thread as its really loooong! Am nearly 14 weeks now, had first scan. Due date is 26 October. Already got one little lad who's 3yrs old. Stopped being/feeling sick just recently but am knackered as working FT.

oliviaelanasmum · 25/04/2008 20:37

Hi born2twinkle, we are due on the same day! I have 3 other daughters whoare 6,3 and 7 months and im hoping for another!!

bethoo · 25/04/2008 23:11

how many are there of us now? it must have been a cold month in january!!!

i have not stopped eating today, ate two kit kat senses for brekkie, was good at lunch as had tin of mackerel and a mandarin, then blew it at home when had a whole bag of chicken drumsticks (had defrosted them and had to use them immedietly so cooked them all) and then had three lollies and just eaten about 7 weetabix. no word of a lie, must stop eating!!!

now i feel fat!!

off to bed before i eat more but now i feel safe as only good stuff left so beginning of a fresh start tomorrow.

does anyone else do that? think that by bingeing on all bad stuff so all temtation is gone so can eat better after?

going to play soduko now!

goodnight ladies.

Alexa808 · 26/04/2008 02:50

Accessorizequeen: how lovely. Congrats on the twin pregnancy!! I can only echo jenwa and say I (not so secretly) wished it was twins. There were 2 eggs the doc said and asked if there are twin pregnancies in my family and I said yes. Seems dp's sperm wasn't quite a match for my ovaries

Hopefully next time. I can understand that you're worries about the arrangements of it all but I hope you will get lots of support from the people around you. Maybe also a chance for your dh to bond more with your older dcs and get more involved to allow you to rest and recover. Wishing you well!

jenwa: I kept having terrible headaches and the doctor suggested dehydration. I started drinking up to 2.5 litres a day and it was still there and my dentist suggested I buy a gum guard to see of that helps. Apparently I have started to grind my teeth again. The headaches have stopped and I've given dp the chance of a lifetime to laugh himself silly in bed before going to sleep as I look like a monkey when the guard is in.

caramelbunny · 26/04/2008 07:17

jenwa glad dd is getting better. Mine also got stinking cough and cold which has apparently spread to her ears as they are badly infected and she's on antibiotics. Poor child seems to be going seamlessly from one illness to next at moment.

rach010 with last pg I thought movement felt like wind for quite a while, just an unsettled bubbly feeling in lower belly. Am feeling the same now but pretty sure it's the baby wriggling.

KSal the 12th is quite a long way off. I'd phone to speak to her before then.

I didn't get any stretch marks last pg and religously used palmers stretch mark cream after showering and bio oil in bed every night. Have gained about 5 pounds so far, your weight gain sounds perfect so far toomuch as you're meant to gain a pound a week in second trimester. As for free stuff, go to www.emmasdiary.co.uk and also www.bounty.co.uk where you can register and get gift packs and will be sent coupons. Boots and tesco both have parenting clubs, not sure if they're just for advantage card holders but can register to join them.

There do seem to be a lot of October babies, I have a couple of friends due then too. Guess a lot of people decide to start trying after Christmas and New Year.

Anyway, have been up with my early rising daughter since 5.30! Feels like it should be lunch time already and it's only 7.15!
