Scorpio - yep, that must be why you´ve made it to 40 wks

scorpio1 · 11/04/2008 11:31

DH has gone to work today, i feel fine today but will be very tired again later....He feels really weird going when im due today!

Soph73 · 11/04/2008 11:35

I know what you mean about feeling tired. It was great to be able to have an afternoon nap yesterday before the boys got back - very relaxing I suppose it must be strange for them (DH's) going off knowing that something could happen, although it´s never that simple is it? My DH had just popped down to the bar for a quick pint when my waters broke with DS1 - made me feel better Although I waited about 30 mins before phoning him and telling him because I knew he´d get in my way. Fortunately his mum was here so she kept him occupied while I got myself ready Hopefully she´ll do the same again this time.

sagitta · 11/04/2008 11:36

Because all you lot have been stern with your DHs, I had a word - or text or two - with mine last night (he was in the pub...), and he is working with me from home today! Yay! DD was thrilled to see him...

Soph73 · 11/04/2008 11:44

You tell him sagitta. I´m fortunate that my DH helps out a lot, but that´s mainly because if he didn´t it wouldn´t get done I´m not the domestic goddess type LOL.

Anyway, saying that, I do have some things I´ve got to do today so shall love you and leave you for now. Probably won´t be able to get to a computer until Monday so will see how many of you have popped when I get back Have great weekends everyone. Soph xxxxxx

scorpio1 · 11/04/2008 11:46

i am actually going to go out in public (well, nursery) in my jogging bottoms in a min. and i dont care.

ToastAddict · 11/04/2008 12:04

Scorpio - ashamed to say I've been living in jogging bottoms for the last few weeks, my mat jeans just got so uncomfortable and I decided comfort had to come before pride. I do not have the arse required to be able to wear jogging bottoms but have reached the point of just not caring. Having said that, I always wear a long jumper or jacket
Well, have been to pharmacy and library, that's it for me for today. Now going to watch some naff telly (Property Ladder and Grey's Anatomy ), maybe have a sleep..... oh and I got SWCBN's book from the library, want to see what all the fuss is about!

Well, AussieDiva didn't do very well at keeping us posted, did she?? I was expecting hourly updates from the birthing pool!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 11/04/2008 12:09

LOL TA!! Yes I'm shocked we haven't heard from her too! Hope all is going well with her and can't wait to hear her news!

A friend of mine has gone into labour today. I am so excited - I can't wait to find out how it all went and what she is having - boy or girl! Made me all weepy when I found out but still doesn't make me wish my one would come sooner IYKWIM?!

bunnyrabbit · 11/04/2008 12:30

Oh well done PFJ and welcome to Jack. Sorry to hear things didn't go to plan, was worried about you. You beat me though. Alasdair came on Tuesday!!

Welcome to any bundles I've missed and hope all is going OK Aussie. DO you think we'll get birthing pool piccies?

Alasdair is feeding well, which is a shock, so fingers crossed we'll make it passed the 3 week mark.

Thinking of you all last night when all my boys were asleep but daren't come on line as DH would kill me if I got out of bed. I keep getting told off for not resting. Lovely to be pampered.

New loaf of Granary ready in 4hrs if anyone is interested....

BR

bashboid · 11/04/2008 13:14

Massive congratulations to the PFJ - hope you are recovering well.

Congratulations also to Sal and Siikibam - love the pics. DP was particularly impressed that little Roelof is being trained up on the Playstation already!

Good luck AussieDiva, hopefully we'll have some more good news soon.

As for me, had a bit of a false start last night - lots of pains but then went to bed and nothing this morning. Ah well...

My mum is coming down to stay on Monday come what may so should really get myself off my bum and get the house ready just in case this little fella changes his mind and decides to make an appearance some time soon....

bunnyrabbit · 11/04/2008 14:34

If you're mum is coming it would be unfair of you to do anything in the house. She needs to feel wanted and useful and I suggest the best thing to do is aks her to help you......

BR

Peachy · 11/04/2008 14:34

Congrats PFJ- great day to be born, eh?

Someone was asking how Sebastian was now- he's OK thanks, his 'six week' check date came through- August! at the murmur clinic! He also managed to fail his hearing check in one ear, which is normally OK but ds2 has some hearing loss as does MIL 9and Dh though he'll never admit it!) so we have to follow up. He's keeping us on our toes LOL!

Aussie- hope everything is going smoothly, though no doubt you'll be done when you see this. i ahd visions of posting during labour too- !. if Dh hadn't been ehre (and he only was as had a night holiday booked) I'd not have even got to the phone to call MW or 999, as I was literally paralysed- MW and Doula had to lift me onto sofa afterwards and still having joint problems.

Feeding going well- the difference of not having had pethidine is huge! And the fennel tea is fabulous as well for the milk supply.

Peachy · 11/04/2008 14:38

Oh and still no pics- dh keeps saying 'but i've put some on the PC' when I ask him to upload more (not a technophobe but he converted PC so ports inside to stop ds3 fiddling- arrggggh!). Well yes he ahs- several pictures- all of me immediately post deliver, in a amnio stained dress, looking erm, less than glamourous as they say LOL

scorpio1 · 11/04/2008 14:43

i want to see his cheeks

bunnyrabbit · 11/04/2008 14:43

Oh Peachy, you don't have things easy do you? August? that's a bit of a cheek.

Glad the feeding is going will. Didn't even occurr to me about the pethidine. I had a small dose last time so perhaps this makes all the difference. DS2 is definitly more up for it.

Silly question, should I still be taking the RL tea? and how much arnica should you take?

BR

bunnyrabbit · 11/04/2008 14:46

Sory I meant RL capsules..

And Peachy, we're not looking at your dress, or you for that matter, just gimme little baby piccies!!

BR

VictorianSqualor · 11/04/2008 14:56

Peachy how long will it be before you know how Sebastian is with other things?I'd imagine they can't tell anything about autism so early but my fingers are crossed for you.

BabyBratt · 11/04/2008 15:24

Hi Ladies

Congratulations to all those who have had their babies. Im only 38+3 and Im still in and out of hospital because of this blood pressure. Im so fed up, I pray they do not let me go over term because I cannot handle the constant worry over the safety of the baby because I have high blood pressure.

Sorry for moaning. Im just starting to get stretch marks. My midwife said that is is really common in late stages and that is why stars have c sections at 38 weeks.

Can I ask what does evening primrose do?

VictorianSqualor · 11/04/2008 15:30

It ripens the cervix.
Bascially there are a few stages of cervix ripening, your cervix comes from the back of your vagina (posterior) t the front (anterior) it also goes from feeling like the tip of your nose to your lips or the inside of your cheek, it gets thinner and shorter (effacement) and it starts to dilate.
Taking EPO encourages your cervix to do thses things, it is also good for softening the perineum as it makes things stretchy, so less likely to tear.
Recommendations are to take 1/2 capsules orally 2/3 times daily and 1/2 capsules vaginally of an evening, put it in and up before you go to bed and it will melt away inside you, like a pessary would.
Get pure EPO though, not ones with added vitamin A, it should be vitamin E. I have some from holland and barrett.

scorpio1 · 11/04/2008 15:52

Have just booked babysitter for tomorrow night to go to the meadery, what's the betting i wont be going now?!?

honeybee10 · 11/04/2008 16:16

Amazingly I think I've managed to put some baby pics on my profile page.(computers are not really my thing!). Rough night with James last night. He just fed and screamed for hours and hours. Seems to get himself so worked up that he won't take the nipple and latch on. I think we might have cracked it today though as milk has come in and he is getting a reward for his efforts.
I would feel great apart from horrendous piles (sorry TMI) Any tips?

TLSM · 11/04/2008 16:57

Right well I have eaten a whole pineapple, taken black cohosh on the hour every hour, had my two doses so far of RL tablets and EPO, tried to talk Tom out "Tom you have been evicted from the big mumma house please collect your placenta and exit though the bottom" have also been on an hour walk even carrying Max for a little way.... and all I have to show for it is a slight back ache have decided to try the warm compress on the boobs and an hour expressing tonight if that doesnt work I think i will give up for a few days!

Honey he is so sweet [TLSM stamps feet]

VictorianSqualor · 11/04/2008 17:01

I think I just had a small show, is it like egg white mixed with washing powder?

ThePFJ · 11/04/2008 17:02

Hi again everyone,

Just recieved my pain pack, as the hospital couldnt be bothered to give me one and my MW set that right and a few things right for me this morning. My labour was absolute hell, the only person in the hospital who got anything right was the anaethesist who was the most amazing guy ever.

I want to write my birth story but its so long winded and full of blood and gore I really cant bring myself to do it. I know it sounds like I am being over dramatic doesnt it? but sadly I am not. I had to have my waters broken in the end, which was attempted three times (head MW had to try in the end - the membrane was really thick) so anyone who ever told me (not you lot) I wasnt in labour before they broke can officially go jump in a lake.

The high point was 24hours after I got to the hospital, when my DP arrived in the theatre and sat down next to me. My head was between two pillows and there was a curtain in front of my chin. My DP has the biggest beard so he looked really cute in a blue cap hehe. Anyways, they started the CS and I couldnt hear a baby cry, all I could see was my partner's face. I knew when my little baby boy had been brought out because the look on DP's face, with tears in his eyes. It was the most beautiful thing. I knew then that Jack would be ok. I didnt need to see my baby for the first time.. just remembering my DP's face as he saw Jack would be the thing that would stay with me forever.
The first time I saw Jack he was in DP's arms and DP looked like the proudest pappa ever. I was so exhausted and happy.

Interesting CS fact: I thought it felt like having your belly trampled on by excited jack russell puppies. It doesnt hurt but boy it feels weird lol.

Apparently it will take 6 months for my tummy to get the feeling back in it. o.O

Big hugs to everyone. Thanks for the mini eggs Aussie! Thanks for thinking of me!
My baby is the best thing that ever happened to me. The labour was the worse thing to ever happen to me

Hehehe. I am loving being a mum. Albeit a very very fragile one!
xxx

sagitta · 11/04/2008 17:04

Aaah, congrats, PFJ - so sorry you had such an awful time. But at least it was worth it Have you got any pics yet?

VS - I hope that it was a show, and that it's relevant!
