afternoon all! glad all the scans went well, xxxxxxxxxx we think we have a short list of girls names now , boys are easy as we would name him after my dad who died last year . xxxx i go off nmaes very quickly though . is anyone else getting any mild cramping pains a bit like period pain?

Well we have a 'baby budget' and if things were really bad then I would use it, but to be honest we waste loads of money. Mainly eating out and takeaways cause I'm too lazy. So that will kill 2 birds with 1 stone, the lardy arse will go because not only will I be getting off it to cook dinner I will be eating better too. To be honest I blame DP. We try to take the cooking in turns as we both work so do not see why it is anybodies job (ok maybe that's my opinion) so when it comes to the nights he has to cook it always ends up takeaway, then it's just a vicious circle.

But seriously things will be fine. Just means I won't be spending all my maternity leave being a lady who lunches and shops

Ok Shazza tell your dh to stop that now! That takeaway money will go towards paying your increased mortgage payments. Could you work it out and point that out? I share cooking with my dh too but tbh he mostly does it and we get takeaway once a week but probably only fish and chips. If he's really under pressure I cook but only under duress as I do all the ironing, washing etc! (and look after the dcs on weekends on my own quite a lot)
Used to love cooking... once (sigh)

Well thats not fair, I want to stay and chat now I've logged on at work but someone has just arrived for a meeting with me. Hmmm. Shall I tell her to wait for me whilst I mn?

Buckets, I was wondering about clothes for August babies. I'm a bit paranoid about it getting cold but if we have a boiling summer I'll need some footless things too... Agh, this is my first and I feel totally clueless about seasonal clothes!

Vicky I have an August dd already and she was fine in normal romper suits - with feet (mind you was the end of August). The shops will still be open after you give birth though, don't worry

CV, just buy multi packs of cheap brands (Matalan are good) so you have some basics. 6 or 7 sleepsuits with feet & 6 or 7 shortsleeved popper vests is fine. People will buy/donate you loads of fancier outfits (and shoes FGS) and you can buy extras like footless wotsits when you know what you've been given.

Hi Ladies, sorry i went awol. Current situation is that i'm on daily aspirin and still leaking but only a little bit. I'm drinking lots of water (but not too much!) and i'm taking it very easy. My work have agreed that i can work from home for the rest of the week so that's keeping me out of mischief. Next appt is 8/4 so i'm really hoping she's going to tell me that fluid levels are very much improved.

right, down to the serious subjects! I love the zebra striped babysuit but did you see the other ones in the funky section? there are some really lovely stripy ones too. Neither myself nor DP wear "normal" colour combinations so i'm really hoping we don't get a ton of boring baby stuff! Hmm that sounds ungrateful! i don't mean it to be, i just hope that people don't try and convert our baby into a conformist!

hmm and as for the silvercross...i like! you lot really are devious with your ways of securing new prams! For the John Lewis shoppers..did you see the Greco in there? its beige, v cheap and looks good so i'm wondering whats wrong with it!

We also saw tummy moving from Pip kicking the other night. I agree it was all a bit alien-esque!

Despite elephantine sized abdomen I still don't feel much movement (ha, just got a kick as I typed that), and so far have only felt 3 kicks which you can feel on the outside. Hmmm, perhaps i am growing a baby cheesecake instead?!

Evening all! DH back at work after his week off so plenty of free time to MN now I had my 20 week scan on Monday - showed everything to be normal (although hard to concentrate as we had DS in the room whinging!) except baby is on the big side, so have been refered for a lovely glucose test. I had 2 last time round and they are awful! Every always says they get an orange drink, I seem to be fobbed off with lemon which I hate. Nothing worse than trying to drink a pint of bitter lemon at 7am! I was trying not to see the sex - sonographer did say once "there is her feet", but I keep telling myself it was just a general "her". The next minute I was sure I was seeing a willy! Last time the whole sex issue slipped my mind - I only remembered as we were walking out the door! I think it was because I was so concious of not finding out, and not trying to pick up on any words the sonographer used that it made me notice everything! I have to book in with midwife I think sometime now for a general check up, then my blood test & 28 week bloods on May 20th (day after my 22nd birthday so no late night for me!). Hope you are all well, I don't think I can even contemplate catching up over a weeks worth so I'll try and keep up from here x

Hello night owls. Just checking in...

Off for my scan tomorrow and it also my 35th birthday! The appt was supposed to be at 1pm which scuppered our plans for a birthday lunch out but I got a call rearranging it for 3pm yey!

Looking forward to it and I'm excited about finding out the flavour if we can. Just hoping for good news.

Right, better get some sleep... although surely I qualify for a lie-in??

Morning all

Broadband is still being bad and only getting 5 minutes at a time then it times out. Have been trying to catch up page at a time before it times out.

Congrats to all with good scans - only a week until ours.

Now a question for all of you experianced preggies - the underside of my jellybelly bump is feeling tender to the touch and needing to pee every 10 mins - should i give the m/w a ring or will it pass??

miamla, glad you're working from home and can put your feet up.

I'm really glad that some of you have mentioned the alien effect - I outed myself to DP last night about finding the baby's movement really freaky at times, and he agreed that he's nowhere near ready to put his hand on my tum and feel it It is utterly bizarre feeling something moving around independently in there.

At work today...yawn.

Oh, forgot to say that we're taking that house we looked at and so will be moving across town in a month or so! I'm very excited, there's so much we can do with it and it feels good to have somewhere we can make into a home.

Presumably I'll have to change midwives though, as I'll be in a different part of town? I'm going to speak to mine and see what she says, but wondered if any of you have experience of this...

lovely news on scan LofW - I wouldn't worry about the big baby thing, I was told, having had two huge babies already, that they can't really tell until later on as babies are all of a similar size until 20wks and then after that they'll be able to tell. If they are worried they'll give you growth scans later on - I'm already booked in for two having had the glucose tests during both pg I fully expect one this time too - can you not phone them and see if they'd let you take in your own orange or lucozade?!?

well ladies, its d-day for me. start back at work this evening but am much happier about it having seen the force medical officer yesterday - he's threatening to read them the riot act if they don't play nice

have also been at dentist this morning to get a tooth pulled so feel as if my face is size of balloon and am STARVING - nothing new there though

am stupidly watching a programme that I taped last night (as I was in bed by 9pm) about Scottish Police Officers being assaulted - why why why when dh is one did I think that this was a good idea am idiot
