thanks for the messages ladies - i know I can get support here but all I do is whinge! Was having nightmares about the birth and waking up in cold sweats dreaming I had been split in half - had a terrible birth with dd1 failed ventouse, forcep delivery, episiotomy, 4th degree tear, 2 hour surgery, blood transfusion the works but natural deliver with both boys DS1 was born at home so not sure why it was affecting me so much this time. When I told my midwife my fear of being cut/split she suggested I have an elective episiotomy!! Did she not hear me say I was bricking being cut or torn - I'm not asking them to do it by choice! But went for scan expecting to see consultant and they "released me back into the community"!!

As for the name - before I had the scan I woke up in the middle of the night and shouted out the name Imogen and knew it was a girl and that was here name and fell straight back asleep! Has happened like that with both girls now! Luckily DH likes it too! and Louise is my middle name.

BTW whoever was asking about the Matrix before - have had mine for 5 years and three kids and LOVE it - yes it is a bit on the weighty side and takes a bit of getting used to clipping it in but it is great. I fully intend to use mine again!

TwilightSurfer · 01/04/2008 22:23

Logging off now as I have charity work this evening. Hand addressing invitations for an orphange fundraiser. Will be surrounded by names all evening.......

dizzydixies · 01/04/2008 22:28

gigglegirl that sounds similar to my experience with dd1 - was hell on earth and when it came to dd2 I told them would sue anyone that came near me with forceps, hence EMCS after 29hr labour! goodness knows what will happen this time but hey, maybe I'll get it right this time

agree with matrix, love mine, but swithering over a double to keep houdini dd2 under control lol

sazzlesA have polis dh not been there to arrest me for assault I may have considered it - the git would use any excuse to chuck me in the jail

Morning ladies

Well I've cheered up somewhat this morning. Realised there's no point stressing about money. Have a wonderful (sometimes) DD and hopefully a healthy baby on way so lots to be happy about. Things will be tight for a while which is annoying because they have only just become comfortable but hey ho there are more important things than money.

If you are all wondering, there is something seriously wrong with my head this morning, I have even considered apologising to DP for the complete bitch I've been for past few months, but still not quite decided yet

But I think it's down to my body massage I had last night. All over, it was absolutely wonderful and I feel great today. Although most of the good work was undone by standing on packed tube for 15 minutes but it's seriously mellowed me out. Plus if I'm really clever and start being a good girl to DP he will see the benefits of the massage and pay for the next one

Buckets · 02/04/2008 09:45

I too need to step away from the name thing. I just find it so hard to get excited about boy's names, want something not top 50 but not too wierd so it's my fussiness that is really the problem. Went through 2007's top 2000 names yesterday, gave DH list of 9 (I thought that was impressive!) names I could live with and he has rejected them all. I just don't want to be arguing on the day he's born, like we were with DS (Noah.) Since I gave in on that one though, don't see why he can't concede this one to me .

karney · 02/04/2008 10:10

Great news about the scan sazzlesa. and hazie

dizzydixies · 02/04/2008 10:17

buckets if you need some suggestions you only have to ask!!!

shazza am up to my eyes worrying about money too but am trying to take same view as you, two lovely dds and have managed to hold on to this baby so far so we'll work someting out, even if I have to sell lovely dd's on ebay to fund it

lovely sunny morning here, have appreciated every moment of it since woken at 6.20
girls at nursery, tesco AGAIN, forgot a few things yesterday soup and casserole on stove cooking and now having 5 minutes before shower and Force medical advisor apt - cannot be arsed but will get the sack if don't go!!

hope its lovely and sunny where you all are

Shazza2002 · 02/04/2008 10:17

Oh yes. Sorry about my me me me post.

Good news on the scans girls. It makes it all the more real doesn't it, and does stop a lot of the worry

Buckets · 02/04/2008 10:33

LOL I need DH to come up with suggestions that aren't boring or hideous.
Shazza don't worry about it, all my posts are me me me, I must seem to use you guys as a vent/diary/soap opera .
Hi to Gigglegirl btw.

dizzydixies · 02/04/2008 10:50

buckets there ARE ways of making dh THINK he has come up with names that you like without him realising

Expectant · 02/04/2008 11:33

DH wrote his list of names and than I wrote mine we then compared notes to see if any matched or if either of us had come up with any new ones that we could both agree on. We're sorted for a boy but in trouble if it's a girl. We are having Peggy as a middle name after DH's grandma but need something that goes with that and a short-ish but reasonably common surname (fishing for suggestions).

Glad to hear scans going well.

cheerfulvicky · 02/04/2008 12:13

I'm with you on the names thing... I knew we were going to have trouble after DP said he thought Hermione was a lovely girls name. Had to explain to him about Harry Potter, etc...

Ohh, and our pushchair/carry cot (Jane Slalom Pro) arrived today from eBay, as I predicted from looking at the auction it is very masculine in colour so we'll just have to hope it's a boy like I feel it is! Scan on Monday so not long to wait

Buckets · 02/04/2008 12:27

The only name we've recently both quite liked is Frank but my nephews already have a small first cousin Frank (where we got the name from) so it seems a bit mean to confuse their little lives.
Have just emailed Todd to DH, am on tenterhooks now as I could definitely live with it. He will probably hate it.

cyteen · 02/04/2008 12:43

Shazza, glad you're feeling cheerier this morning. Money worries are crap but inevitable for us normal people. I was watching some programme last night about the super rich and their stupid whims; they interviewed a woman who works for one of those "we'll make anything you want happen if you've got enough cash" type organisations, and she was talking about people buying fighter planes to go in their garden as ornaments, and hiring Premiership footballers to come and play with someone's little son on his birthday. It made me quite angry tbh, when there are so many people homeless and struggling, people who can't afford food or basic medical care, and yet there's a tiny minority who can afford to fulfil every random whim that crosses their mind.

Blimey, surprised myself a bit there! Sorry, rant over Anyway, hope everyone's having fun today; I am doing a random day's work for DP, covering the phones at his workplace while people are in a training session. It's quite nice, plus the money will be handy.

Had a very exciting moment last night as I was going to sleep - I had one hand on my belly and I distinctly felt a kick! It was very strange.

Re. names - DP has dodged the whole naming issue as yet. We're waiting till the next scan to hopefully see what we're having, then the wrangling can begin in earnest!

Expectant - Hmmm, tricky. It's a hard one to pair with another name, because the hard P and G sounds in Peggy don't lend well to other names with hard sounds like Grace, Dora or whatever. 3 syallable first names might be good - Coraline Peggy? Christina Peggy?

I'm sure dizzy will have better suggestions

Buckets · 02/04/2008 13:07

Shazza, have a watch of some of those programmes like Spendaholics, Bank of Mum & Dad, Alvin Hall etc - they always make me and DH feel like better about our money worries. Just puts things in perspective and reminds you you're doing your best.

Shazza2002 · 02/04/2008 13:15

Thanks all for your advice. Like I said in earlier post I have genuinly realised I am extremely lucky and no point worrying about the things you can't change. To be honest I had budgeted for some of the increase just didn't expect it to be so much. But hey ho we will manage.

So when does eveybody plan to get the essentials? I remember with DD1 I think I had everything by the time I was about 20 weeks. But it seems I'm a lot more relaxed with 2nd as you realise that you don't need half the stuff you bought first time around and buying it early does not mean you get baby any sooner

PetitFilou1 · 02/04/2008 13:18

Shazza Do you really need anything else? I just bought a few girl clothes! And later on an electronic swing thing as couldn't hold her all the time as she wished.

Buckets · 02/04/2008 13:38

I'm waiting for us to move DS into his new room so I can start 'nesting' in the baby's room. Have decided on pale cocoa colour with pastel 'bits', overall mood being ice cream, cupcakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate with marshmallows ... iyswim.
We're inheriting cot & crib (& hopefully playgym) from DB&SIL, steriliser from DSis, bouncy chair from friend. Will buy new travel system once we have the nursery done to store it in, have all my first size nappies I think. Can't think what else I need except muslins & a few more sleepsuits (thinking shortie footless ones for an August baby.)
Ayeeeeeeee very painful baby movement then, must have done a somersault or something, had to unbutton my jeans!
