For those of us with 3 months to go or less....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Thanks nettie I wasn't sure what I was allowed to take. Will try that to start with. I have had a glass of milk in the evenings but I don't like milk and the heartburn is quite bad during the day too so I don't want to have to drink milk all day.

Glad you had a fab birthday suprise meal yesterday too.

G43 so jealous, any break sounds good at this point and not having to cook sounds like bliss.

goingfor3 · 11/04/2008 14:13

thegreenfairy at making you sound like an alcoholic! They really are on a power trip. I was tempted to ask to see someone else but I will probably only have three more appointments so will just grin and bear it all and wait to see what her next comment will be. Maybe if I seem more concerned next time she will write 'over anxious' in my notes. I also have 'not sexually active' written in my notes written by the consultant a few months ago - I don't think I'll make a copy of these!!!

sophiewd · 11/04/2008 14:16

I told my MW how much I was going to drink 1-2 glases 1-2 times per week and she put down, non drinking very pragmatic my MW

Upsidedowncake · 11/04/2008 14:18

pmsl Keith Chegwin. Why choose him?! I guess they could always have gone for Noel Edmonds ...

Noel: How do you feel?
WOman: I'm in labour. Go away.
Noel: I can see your crinkly bottom
Woman: You'll see a lot more in a if you don't go away
Noel: Your tummy looks like Mr Blobby.
etc

DS had his first five-star tantrum outside the house today. Then fell fast asleep straight away and woke up all sunny and bright. Now asleep again. (Phew)

ktpie · 11/04/2008 14:22

Sounds like Cheggers was lucky not to get a black eye! Has anyone seen the film version of Macbeth which has Cheggers in when he was a boy, he stands up and sings a song in a very high voice, we had to watch it at school, it was hilarious!

needahand - I have found Rennies have worked fine, I prefer the fruity ones to the mint ones though.

nettiehay · 11/04/2008 14:26

oooh yes - the fruity chewy rennies are much better than the chalky minty ones....

bitofadramaqueen · 11/04/2008 15:49

Just had a quick scan over the posts to keep up to date and Laura love the 'madwife' instead of midwife. . I've def got one of those.

I'm concerned my mw is listed as mw and health visitor on the back of my NHS antenatal/parentcraft classes letter. Living in fear that she takes the classes and that she might actually come to my house post-birth, aaarrrrggghhhh!

I take gaviscon, but mw organising something on prescription so will find out what that is and share if it works.

Cheggers - chortle at the thought of vid(and [envy} at those young enough not to remember him).

needahand · 11/04/2008 15:58

right Gaviscon and rennies (don't like mint anyway). Will let you know if it works

Still waiting for my test results...what takes them so bloody long?

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 11/04/2008 16:10

Hi all, thanks for all your comments re my huge bump. I have put on just over 3st now which is fine cos only four weeks to go probably .

Makecakes - why do they want you to have an epidural. Is it the SPD? They want me to have one too cos of twins - it's a tough one. I am just going to go with the flow and have one if I feel I need one and if not just hope for the best that Esther will stay head down after Theo is born. Ooh I am so excited!!!!

Strike got called off today which was a relief - hoping for a meeting with managtement next week to discuss the pay claim but if that doesn't happen then there will be more strike days. I'll be far too fat by then though to go on the picket line (phew)

needahand · 11/04/2008 16:35

Neen perhaps you should seat on the management desk and start rubbing your back or something. Now I bet that would be a good incentive to settle the dispute!

Have finally spoken to surgery. Need to go back on Monday to redo the tests (great) apparenlty there was something wrong with them. Not sure what though, the secretary told me but I didn't really understand what she was saying. I am not versed in the art of interpreting medical jargon. Should have written down what she said and asked laura.

needahand · 11/04/2008 16:36

oops sorry for double post

ernest · 11/04/2008 16:43

the lemon meringue pie thread has got my mouth watering. AM I allowed to eat it, does anyone know?

So far today, I have high pressure hosed the 2 patios plus path, gone shopping for new clothes for ds3 (he's down to 1 pair of jeans with holes in the knees, so couldn't really put it off), bought diy stuff, inc paint roller, as need to do major touching up, gone to docs to get more meds for ds2, decluttered living room, played host to 2 of ds2's friends, gone to woods with all 3 boys to do a quick reconnoitre ahead of tomorrow's soaking party. Mailed neighbours informing of removal lorry, as well as general meal prep etc.
And the day is not yet done

It's gonna seem like a doddle once we're unpacked, then I'll have a couple of weeks respite before Tinkeli arrives (I'm guessing I'm the only person who isn't rushing to the finishing line).

And for anyone who's getting annoyed by stupid notes from mw - just wait till the hv's get started. There is nothing more irritating than that, I tell you. I remember my blood boiling on many occasions!

needahand · 11/04/2008 17:05

Ernest why would you not? Oh because of the meringue perhaps. But surely it is cooked it is ok?

ernest · 11/04/2008 17:09

that's what I thought, hense uncertainty, but I have since googled it and it says to avoid home made mayo and meringue, sigh. still a bit dubious, as mayo (home made) is clearly raw, but meringue is cooked, but I guess not enough? Dunno, teeny risk. I'm not especially food neurotic, but as I do have only 8 weeks to go, I suppose I can wait

needahand · 11/04/2008 17:13

Can't you just do the lemon tart without the meringue and have it with an icecream or some cream? Might do the trick for the time being. TBH I wouldn't even have thought there was a pb with meringue and probably would have eaten it!

thegreenfairy · 11/04/2008 17:18

I think it's cos you cook meringue at a really low temp or something.
But have also found something saying not to eat tiramisu. Clearly these guidelines were written by MEN.
Sophie - I wish I had your mw!

bitofadramaqueen · 11/04/2008 18:35

dont let me start on what the nurse at my gp's put in my notes last year. Grrrrrr. Oh, also, when I went to mw last week she said she had to add in the notes from my visits to the EPU last year. Yeah, cos I really want all my miscarriage info in black and white with my pregnancy notes. Cheers, for the reminder. My EPU visits were last May and July, although given that the hospital forgot to notify my GP or mw's that I was no longer pregnant I shouldn't be surprised its taken so long for the notes to be sent half a mile down the road.

Shame about the lemon meringue ernest - not long now though. I'm going to start dreaming about pate soon I think...

poppy34 · 11/04/2008 22:27

hi all - rofl re rolf/deb suggestion re the bump name. She is actually currently known as paris hilton - we went on rugby world cup trip and one england win plus several lagers and here I am. Sstill feeling very fat which is probably not helped by giving into urge to eat chocolate cake.

Am baffled and intrigued re cheggers ante natal film -who on earth thought that he would be a great spokesman for women? Well he obviously is now as he is our mascot [ grin]

bitofadramaqueen - totally with you on the rubbishness of gp records etc... havent bothered with them except for one quick visit to tell them officially . After my previous experiences (took them weeks to refer me to hospital after incomplete m/c and such a vile incompetent experience when lost my little boy last year that you couldnt make it up). Am also astonished at person whose stupid mw wrote about her not taking any notice re movements - hardly sounds like you were being dismissive, more like you've already know your own child!

Ernest - can you not get pasteurised eggs for your meringue -doesn't that reduce the risk? Also arent most hens now vaccinated in this country for salmonella... so in theory risk should be less.

bitofadramaqueen · 11/04/2008 22:36

LOL Paris Hilton! Am feeling fat too poppy but it didn't stop me munching a creme egg earlier . I now refuse to see anyone at my GP surgery except one particular doc (who's very good and complained about how I'd been treated) and my mw. Saw the evil nurse who made me cry and wrote lies in my notes last week and was tempted to make a voodoo doll.

Super uncomfortable so away to lie on the sofa, drink tea and eat jaffa cakes .

pyjamarama · 12/04/2008 00:33

Hello,
Does this count as the first post of the morning? If so good morning all!
at MW comments, did she not realise you would read it?
I too have given up seeing my MW (although I never saw the same one twice) got fed up waiting hours each time just to have my BP and wee checked when I can do this for myself. Also got fed up re-explaining all the early pregnancy problems.
I think Cheggers might be a welcome, if slightly odd diversion during labour, although I plan to deliver in Leeds general Infirmary where Sir Jimmy Saville frequently wanders in and out of the wards (I once tried to escort him off the ward thinking he was a lost mad old man)so you never know...

pyjamarama · 12/04/2008 00:34

By the way I am at work, I am never up this late, normally safely tucked up in bed by 8.30.

debinaustria · 12/04/2008 06:40

Pyjamarama - you've beaten me to it today - I hope you're tucked up in bed now.

Poppy - could be a lot worse, like Milton Keynes travelodge???? Tristan should have been named Durham Marriott, no idea about Stefan or this one!!

Up early here are dh has taken mil back to the airport, thankfully she baked yesterday so I have a freezer full now. He returns in a few hours with the last guests of the winter season. Then at the moment we don't have any more until 24th May, but in the interim period we have to decorate some guests rooms and lay laminate flooring - that should be good for getting baby in optimal birth position!!

Have a good weekend everyone.

sophiewd · 12/04/2008 07:55

Morning all,

Good luck with your redecorating Deb, we have people in all next week and then Sunday we stop for a few days, then just weekends really until the May half term.

Right Breakfasts waits

ernest · 12/04/2008 07:58

OMG I think Jimmy Saville would be even worse. Cn you imagine it??!!

It's the day of the party ... and the sun's shining Thank God for that. Really. It would've been a coomplete disaster. The best contingency plan that was suggested was to pretend to go into labour and cancel at the last miinute in the event of rain. Anywaqy, luckily that's no longer necessary. Just gotta get through 11-30 - 4 with zillions of over excited boys. I'll maybe even try to post pictures later.

Anyone got any great ideas for party games in the woods with loads of boys? I've got hide and seek. And . erm hide and seek. Those hours are just gonna whizz by....
