She has posted on a couple of other threads, but I feel that RL and moving is catching up on her very quickly

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 09:33

Funnily enough I was awake between 5 and 6.30 and thought about getting in a sneaky post before Debs. Might not have beaten her after all! Hope you have a good day Debs!!

BTW- was trying out the sling on the dog. She wasn't very co-operative.

I am so tired I am going back to bed as soon as I have walked her though. What with the dog, the baby and the local car alarms keeping me awake, I feel like a zombie. Then I started having nighmares about a plan crashing into the house (we live down the road from where that plane crashed on the housing estate the other day...)or the hospital when I was in labour (plane also narrowly missed my hospital)...then I was hungry, then DH woke me up getting ready to go to work. God I am a moaning minny when I am tired.

Normal service will resume when I have done some of that sleeping thing...

Morning all,
Quick question for all those who have done this before - I'm having quite a lot of pain across the top of my bump - it almost feels like the skin is irritated, but there is no rash/marks and rubbing moisturiser/body butter into it doesn't seem to help. Sometimes it is an internal pain too though... it's been happening for a few days and I am starting to wonder if I should see someone about it... what do you all think? BTW Bug is kicking like mad, so don't think he/she is bothered at all!
TIA

josey · 03/04/2008 10:16

Morning all....hope you enjoy the shopping debs.

Also had a rotten night I could cry went to bed with a sore hip which kept giving me a dead leg, if i didnt have a dead leg I hd major rib pain...my rib cage has shifted so much over night all my ribs are actually hidden by my boobs.

Nettyhey is prob just stretching BH tend to hurt a bit up the top of your bump...also supprisingly trapped wind can hurt up there as well a good burp might help...welcome to the missery

I read some of a hypnobirth book last night I was given and I put it down in disgust as it states I will only be a good mother with a happy healthy baby if I eat lentils amung beans (two finger emcon)

Made the kids roar with laughter yesterday...I came home from tesco with a huge water mellon DH asked where he was expected to put it...told him to shove it up his t-shirt so he did and they two of us compaired bumps wish I had take a pic.

poppy34 · 03/04/2008 10:27

hi all - just back from last holiday (was very good for baby shopping -bump kicked appreciateively for all her pressies ) so feeling bit jaded after overnight flight and can completely sympathise with josey's hip pain. I was waddling around yesterday like an old woman - stretching my leg out or sleeping with a pillow between my knees seem to help a little .

Nettie -when you say pain do you mean like prickly heat pain or any other sort of pain?can you ring your midwife and ask?

mellymell · 03/04/2008 10:28

Morning

Very jealous of those at home able to slink back into bed.

Am in work - have read my emails, scanned the paper, had my second breakfast and am putting of the evil moment when I might have to do some work. Only 5.5 weeks before I go off on ML - am crossing off the days.

Sympathies with sore hips etc. I found going on all fours and waving my bottom in the air helped to loosen up (also amused DH when he woke up to find me doing this), also standing with my hands against the wall and moving hips in a figure of eight. Other than that, lots of pillows and perhaps a padded over mattress which provides a bit more softness.

whinegums · 03/04/2008 10:57

Morning all

I actually managed a decent kip last night, and I'm feeling quite chipper today! Have just counted how many weeks til mat leave starts (assuming I'm not made redundant before then) - 7 to go, hurrah!!!

Off to stay with my mum for the weekend, and we are going pram/pushchair shopping. I like the look of the new Maxi Cosi Mura, but it is soooo heavy - 17kgs! I think the alternative is the Quinny Buzz, but it's more expensive. Grandma paying anyway, so not much of an issue. Have a list of the other bits and pieces I need, not much now thank goodness. We put the crib together at the weekend, it is very strange seeing it in our flat awaiting its occupant.

Mellymell, I've just had my second breakfast too - chocolate muffin, mmmm.

mellymell · 03/04/2008 11:08

Whinegums - mine was a cinamon and raisin bagel - doesn't give me such bad heartburn as toast.

PiggyPenguin · 03/04/2008 11:18

Hi all, I had an awful nights sleep last night too. The baby seemed to be in a really uncomfortable position and kept waking me up by kicking my side against the bed - it really hurt! Is anyone else finding the movements actually quite uncomfortable now?

Lovely to see the sun today, the kids are playing in the garden and I'm thinking I will be able to wash all my baby clothes on the line soon. The fact that the only coat which currently fits me is a quite thin raincoat isn't so much of a pain in the warmer weather either.

nettiehay · 03/04/2008 11:23

poppy - its sort of a stinging pain - kind of hard to describe. It only appears to happen when Bug is really stretching one particular patch of skin, so am hoping it's nothing too serious - it's just getting to the point where I can't concentrate from the pain. Luckily it sort of comes and goes, so I am still able to do some work I'm trying to get hold of my midwife now, and I've had some reassurance from a friend who is now 3 days overdue, so I think I'll be fine... probably just an over reaction.

ktpie · 03/04/2008 11:47

mellymell - Glad someone else is failing to get any work done, I have 5 weeks to go once this week is over and can't seem to concentrate any more on actually being productive!

On the subject of sleep I had gradually built up an assortment of pillows to prop various parts up and was having terrible nights, everything was hurting, especially my back. Kept adding more pillows in an attempt to rectify it. Woke up feeling better one morning and all the pillows were gone, I must have kicked them all off so after that I have had a couple of nights with no extra pillows and have slept really well and my back seems fine now, I must have been propping myself into a bad position. Plus I was finding every time I turned over they needed rearranging which woke me up too much to get back to sleep. Still have them by the bed in case I need them again.

whinegums · 03/04/2008 11:56

Don't know if this will help, but I have memory foam pillow and I love it - I really noticed the difference when DP nicked/borrowed it for one night. Buying another one for him this weekend! I used to be a 'rearranger' too, but I don't when I use it. I have also been using a thin pillow between my knees, which helps a lot.

Mellymell - toast gives me rotten heartburn too, think it is all of the butter and marmalade I put on... Am better with cereal for first breakfast!

I'm not getting much work done either, but it's pretty quiet for us at the moment anyway.

mellymell · 03/04/2008 11:58

Ktpie

Agree with you about work. Quite frustrating because normally I would do a mix of client work and business development. The latter has had to stop - no point me meeting a new client and promising longevity of service when my stomach enters the room 5 minutes before the rest of me - doesn't exactly engender confidence!

On the pillow front - have one of those V pillows which is quite good, but a hassle if I decide to (gasp of horror) change to sleep on my right side.

aberdeenhiker · 03/04/2008 12:08

I just woke up for the second time - I'm feeling much better. I really needed some extra sleep!

nettiehay - hope your midwife is good. Mine always makes me feel like a hypochondriac so I avoid calling her (but my yoga midwife confirmed my swelling is at normal levels for this stage of pregnancy and I had an almost fainting experience so BP must still be low).

7 more weeks of work for me - I was feeling sorry for myself as the women in yoga that I sit beside are due one week ahead of me and are going off on leave in one week! 33/34 weeks sounds too early to me - and I know I'll appreciate the time at the other end, but yesterday I was so tired, I could hardly think straight.

My hips are sore too but I find that going on all fours and wiggling them in a circle helps. Definitely sent DH the wrong message last night, but he managed to convince me.

mellymell · 03/04/2008 12:20

Aberdeen - how energetic of you!

Not sure I look so alluring, and it does appear to happen to me at 4am when DH is fast asleep and is more interested in getting back to sleep rather than rumpy pumpy!

bitofadramaqueen · 03/04/2008 12:41

LOL at the thought of makecakes with dog in sling!

aberdeen - I know what you mean about mat leave, I've been toying with the idea of bringing mine forward by a week but know that I'll wish I hadn't at the other end. Very very busy at the moment at work so time is going quickly. Also training up my mat cover so hoping time will continue to fly.

On the pillow front, I've got one of those long pillows that goes under my bump and between my knees. It's good for getting comfy but its ALWAYS on the floor when I wake up!

Still not getting kicks etc high up very often, but seeing the mw today so will ask her about it. Keep telling myself that I'm not due till 22 June so a few weeks behind some of you.

aberdeenhiker · 03/04/2008 12:43

it took me a while to realize why I could possibly deserve the term energetic (laughing). My DH wouldn't be that interested at 4am either!

LauraT · 03/04/2008 12:49

nettiehay I've been having what sounds like the same pain, it's very annoying and nothing seems to make it better or worse. I had decided it was just a skin reaction to the stretching and am trying to put up with it (read as moaning a lot to DH about it)but if you get any miracle advice from the MW do let me know!

ktpie · 03/04/2008 12:54

melly - I normally would have a load of projects etc to do but there isn't time for me to get into anything so at the moment have some fairly boring paperwork which is easy to put off, next week I will have some more work through so will be busy doing that. Just know that I will be doing all this paperwork in a panic in the last few weeks having spent ages procrastinating!

I'm going to see how I get on with no pillows for now, can slowly reinstate them if I feel the need, the memory foam ones sound good, may treat myself, I already have a v-pillow, that is on the floor now, plus DH kept trying to nick it!

aberdeen - I have had a couple of near fainting episodes, usually after going too quickly upstairs, I just don't seem to be able to get my breath back again, I told my midwife about it and she said it could be anaemia, they took some blood to test for that anyway so hopefully will find out soon.

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 14:02

Nice to see am not the only one with sleep issues. DH actually had the nerve to complain yesterday that he was being edged out of bed. I told him that he should try carrying the baby for a while, or he could sleep in the guest room. He's in Sheffield tonight so not an issue. I have a memory foam pilllow, long body pillow, V-pillow and feather pillow...the result of various purchases on advice of various people as SPD has progressed. Needless to say every time I want to move it's like the bloody Krypton Factor. I actually managed to rip our sheet last night with my rearranging. Hoping the weather gets warmer then won't need duvet then it won't interfere so much with my turning over!!!

Have discovered my birth ball in a big way though- really helps with aches and so on...and baby cakes seems to love it.

looneytune · 03/04/2008 14:20

Hello

Haven't been on for ages and as much as I'd love to scroll through and catch up, I don't think I could manage reading several weeks worth

How is everyone?

Just noticed the birth ball comment, is it worth getting one? I'm planning on having a home birth and did think about possibly getting one as not having to pay for a pool How does it help in pregnancy? Also, is it worth getting a big long pregnancy support pillow for bedtime? My groin has been much better since the oestopath fixed my pelvis, it's just sometimes I sleep funny and it hurts the next day.

Oh.....for those of you who followed the problems with my parents when they came across a thread about them on here......we seem to be finally back to normal after 3 months and hoping they will be in the area when I have little bubba They have also decided they want to buy bubba the Natures Amby Nest so I'm well chuffed

Anyway, best go and get the 2 mindees up from their nap and do the school run. Roll on maternity leave......9 weeks, 1 day and 4 hours to go til I get my 12 weeks off!!!!

calebsmum · 03/04/2008 14:34

Found a birth ball really helpful in early labour as you can rock on it which helps with contractions and it was just nice to sit on something soft!

Am same as looneytune, not been on for ages and time is short as have 3 toddlers running around the house.

Am finding Bella's movements really uncomfortable at the moment, also feels like my belly is about to split open. Finish work on the 1st May and am looking forward to it am so tired at the mo. If I get stressed I get Braxton Hicks which also hurt, frankly am looking forward to labour and being able to take a deep breath!

aberdeenhiker · 03/04/2008 14:48

A birth ball is also really helpful after the baby's born - if you hold them and sit and bounce on it they find it very comforting. We used to sit and bounce DS for ages (good for your quads too).

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 14:58

Looney- got a ball on recommendation of a friend who said she did nothing but bounce on it for the last few weeks. This helped get her DS in right position for labour...then when he was born they found the only way he would settle is if they held him whilst bouncing on ball...

Re: long pillow, cannot be as confident that it is useful but I bought mine second hand for a fiver, so not too bothered either way...

makecakesnotwar · 03/04/2008 15:23

Just realised am 32 weeks today......in eighth month according to 'What to expect' (a crap book IMO)
