ChutneyMary · 14/04/2008 12:57

That's a relief then!

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 13:01

Except someone on the other thread has said it cant be implantation bleeding. I'm confused.

IceCube · 14/04/2008 13:08

Is anyone taking any supplements yet? I read somewhere that they can help prevent sickness but work better if you take them before MS starts.

I'm only 4+6 so haven't had any nausea yet but would like to do anything I can to prevent it, or am I just kidding myself Grin

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2008 13:08

Hi Kaz, I saw your other thread.

I think what she meant was that initial implantation must have occurred a lot earlier (ie about 3.5 weeks pg) but as I understood it (not that I'm an expert!) the foetus continues to burrow into the womb lining for quite a while ie 5-7 weeks.

I would trust the books and the doc on this one.

I clicked on your other thread because I had a tiny bit of brown discharge this am and have been googling ever since! (Always a bad idea!)

Don't think there's much to be done - just sit it out and try not to worry. With DS I had a full on period at 4 weeks but because that occurred before I tested I wasn't worried.

Hope it's all fine - I think the no cramping is a good sign.

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 13:10

Icecube, I take the Boots pregnant supplements. It has everything you need I.E Folic Acid etc and ginger to help with morning sickness.

Youngvisitor. I want to belive the MW at the EPU but everyone else is saying not too. Surely its better to believe the MW.

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2008 13:11

sorry just read my post back and my comment "Don't think there's much to be done - just sit it out and try not to worry" sounded awful and really insensitive!

I was meaning I don't think (in my case) I can do much as I have a doc's appointment anyway on Thurs so I am going to discuss it then.

Poor you - hope you are feeling ok - EPU sounded v encouraging.

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2008 13:14

sorry cross posted.

Well the way I am looking at it - I guess it can be other things - but I'm sure the MW knows what she's talking about if she says implantation bleeds occur from 5-7 weeks. I doubt she's just making that up!

ChutneyMary · 14/04/2008 13:15

Kayz, only 1 poster is saying not to believe her. It could easily be further implantation once the baby embeds itself deeper in the lining. I had spotting with DD1 and she was fine. Also had a period at about 4.5 weeks so agree with YV.

I really wouldn't go to EPU at this stage. I think a scan is unlikely as you are too early for a fetal pole / HB so they'll probably just do bloods.

Take care

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 13:16

I doubt she will either. Its not at all red or brown so I think she will be right. I see the MW on Wednesday anyway.

Plus they cant pick up a heartbeat this early I dont think.

theyoungvisiter · 14/04/2008 13:16

Icecube in my experience I don't think supplements do a thing to help morning sickness but perhaps they help other people - they can't hurt and you should take folic acid anyway.

In fact in my last pg I found I couldn't keep the supplements down for a while (because they were big and smelled of something horrid - not sure what) so I switched to folic acid pills which are tiny and don't smell of anything and they were better as they didn't make me retch.

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 13:18

Thanks everyone,Smile

ColumbosWife · 14/04/2008 13:35

Good luck on Wednesday, Kayz. I really hope it goes well.

I started spotting yesterday - which I hoped against hope didn't mean anything -and then woke up in the night bleeding heavily with horrible cramps. Sad

So could someone take me off the list?

xx

ChutneyMary · 14/04/2008 13:53

Columbo's wife, I'm so sorry to hear that. Take care won't you?

rosmerta · 14/04/2008 14:36

Kayz, have you had your shopping trip yet?

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 14:39

No next Monday we are off to London. I can't wait. We are going to the Zoo on Wednesday(my birthday) I'm going to drag dh round the big Mamas and Papas and Mothercare.Grin

MrsMattie · 14/04/2008 14:47

Afternoon all

Colomboswife - so sorry to hear your news. Hope you getting some rest and being looked after.

ChutneyMary - I'm a 'norf' Londoner, me Grin. I had my son at the Royal Free (dire - never setting foot in that hospital again). Having this one at UCH. I think all the big London hospitals are much of a muchness, I just couldn't face going back to the RF and my doctor recommended UCH.

I'm managing to keep food down today (and yesterday) which is a good sign, but still feeling constantly sick. Really starting to piss me off now, and I'm only 6 + 2. I can't take weeks and weeks of this [vomit emoticon]

hiccymapops · 14/04/2008 15:34

Afternoon everyone Smile

Columboswife I'm so sorry Take care of yourself. xx

Congratulations and welcome to the new people i haven't said 'hello' to yet Smile

I'm taking Pregnacare, i've been taking them 29 months now!!!! I started when i was pregnant with Ben, then it recommend to take them while breastfeeding and while trying to conceive, so i haven't stopped yet! Grin They don't do anything for MS though. I'm working my way through loads of wine gums and sports mixture Grin

Kayz i've read it's completely normal for slight bleeding at this stage, i'm sure it's nothing to worry about xx

Hope everyone's feeling okay xx

mibbes · 14/04/2008 16:52

Welcome Mina and congrats Grin
Verso yikes that sounds really scary, lots of rest for you mi lady Wink
So sorry ColumbosWife, take care xx Sad
IceCube I'm taking pregnacare with the Omega3 supplement. I have no idea about MS but you need to be taking at least folic acid.
kayz I was told my bleed last week was an implantation bleed (at 6 weeks) and I've had nothing concenring since (touch wood). For info my bleed was bright red and just a very small amount then had brown old blood the next day (again not much). I was not convinced by imp bleed line from EPU but I am now, I guess they know what they are on about. I also had a 3 days bleed at initial implantation but as TYV says the bean keeps burrowing, it is making itself comfy Smile. And just to add to that when I had bleed I checked all my PG books (I have bought quite a few !) and they all said that bleeding in the first trimester is nothing to worry about unless you have cramps too/it gets very heavy. I know it is easier said than done not to worry but hopefully in a few days you'll be able to relax. I am still apprehensive (TMI alert) every time I wipe but I guess it is normal to be worried once you have had a scare. xx

mibbes · 14/04/2008 16:53

OOh and I have booking in appt tomorrow (they managed to re-arrange it for me after last week's mix up) and am booked in for an early scan (going private as want to know all ok before we tell parents) at 9 weeks which is 2 weeks today !

LobstersLass · 14/04/2008 17:10

Hi kayz,

I've posted on your other thread, but just in case it helps others I will repeat here...

I had exactly some brown discolouration last night, more tinted than dark. The difference being that when I phoned NHS direct they scared the shit out of me and told me that I had to see a doctor "this evening" i.e. last night.

So, at 9.30pm we went to hospital. I was there until 4am.
They took a urine sample and bloods and did an internal investigation. I've got to go back tomorrow for a scan and back the next day to get my bloods done again.

The daft thing is that during the SIX AND A HALF HOURS that I was at the hospital, the discharge pretty much stopped.

I wish I'd never phoned as I spent the whole time worried sick. My blood levels were very low (177 Hmm), so they think that the pregnancy might be much earlier than I think it is. I reckon 5.5 weeks.

I'm taking comfort from the fact that it's stopped.

How ridiculous that we both had such conflicing advice.

Anyway, fingers crossed for both of us. xx

Colomboswife, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

kayzisexpecting · 14/04/2008 17:16

I'm seeing the MW on wednesday. So I am going to try and get an early scan. Its probably nothing but I'd like to just get checked over.
