Pleased to be able to start the new thread with our birth announcement!

Samuel arrived at 1923 on thursday 20th March, weighing in at 4lb 10oz! After a fraught day of trying to find a hospital with a NNU with a cot (our hospital NNU was closed just as we were about to go to theatre), we finally ended up at Epsom General!

Sam is still in NNU but should be coming off his last little bit of oxygen this evening, is off CPAP, and having a go at bf'ing whenever he can (he's being fed by a tube).

I'm home and feeling a whole lot better than I did last time around, although very sore - TAKE THE PAINKILLERS THEY OFFER!!!!!

Jacob not sure about the new arrival although is smitten with his new scooter

will catch up with posts later but thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and good wishes over the last few days

Morning all!

pinacolada Thanks for the well received compliments, however, I am NOT 35 , I am 34 . Just. (Only joking, not really of course!). Also, the reality is that I spend most of my days in tracksuit bottoms, or PJ's (only while pg I hasten to add!) with no make-up and hair not done, glasses on, looking a right state. The photo of me pregnant was taken before an evening out with my sis, hence the make up etc. Trust me, I don't always look like that. I just make a point of only having my photo taken if I feel I look 'OK'. It's something I have learnt after years of awful photos making me feel fat and minging .
Your DD looks amazing for her age (2003???!!!! check out your profile.....) But seriously, she is v cute and you too look like a lovely family.

YCBS I am in North Herts, Stevenage. Where are you?? Nice to see you are a good catholic girl too . I checked out your profile, now, I am really not a big animal lover, but your dog looks cute!!!
Amazing story about your un-diagnosed pregnancy. Having worked in the NHS for 12 years I'm afraid I have very little faith in GP's. TWO ladies at work lost their DH's to oesophageal cancer, because it wasn't diagnosed early on by GP, despite them going with problems swallowing and unexplained weight loss . The GP's diagnosed 'stress' (FFS?!) in both cases. It really angers me cos they get paid shit loads, about £100K+

Anyway, a colleague reckons she didn't know she was pg til 34 (yes, 34) weeks!!!! Then her son was born 2 weeks early, so she knew she was pg for just 4 weeks. Not sure how much I beleive of that story .

azaduhi Wow, sounds like you had a good day...supernanny!! Good for you for taking charge. I cannot stand badly behaved children due to lack of discipline (I think it's my strict catholic upbringing!!). I would have been tempted to do the same as you, just without the formal training!!

JBR Isla is beautiful. I love the photos of her with Joe, he looks v pleased to be a big brother. Imagine how popular she will be at school when she is 13 and she has a 26 year old brother....
Just one thing...in the photo of you in hospital....ummm, not quite sure how to say this, but you seem to have a massive erection .

Right, I have just made some chocolate cupcakes with DD, and we have a few left over so I will put them in the virtual bar later when I have put the nutella and choc buttons on them .

Better go and shower and get ready for church!!

so many cute pictures of LO's (and some not so little ones...) and the chocolate dog of course YCBS who looks very understanding. I have to say you all do look far too glam in your pics... I'll have to try and find one (i usually avoid having a pic taken by taking the pics)

GCG PMSL at the munchkin - you can come out now... I feel a bit like that... I'm not a huge fan of consultants myself at the moment... we're gearing up for a bit of a fight about birth - my consultant will only explain things if DP in room, otherwise just addresses other dr and leaves room...git... also am drooling slighty at the chocolate cupcakes

Pina good news re DD behaving! fingers crossed it continues - she looks like such an angel too!!

Azaduhi - 6 unruly children? this far pregnant? i am in awe!! also would love to know how the piggyback would work... I think I'd have to be rolled...

Asics - Im in a place called saltaire, its just down the road from Shipley, other side of bradford. really nice but a bit touristy at times.

re boob leakage - i have nothing going on there at all, just giant pointy nips, seriously the whole shape of my boobs has changed - they used to be more roundy.. 3 hours boob twiddling? ffs i havent the patience for that, DP could though, and hes been banned from boobs (i was worried that he could set off labour )

right i'm gonna go out for a walk so that I dont spend all day in my PJs....

Azaduhi · 27/04/2008 12:47

re piggy back...it didn't actually work, was on her back for 45 seconds until she put me down...i am not as big as most of you and haven't put on much weight in pregnancy probably thats why i didn't had to roll back home.

goodcatholicgirl · 27/04/2008 13:12

Ummmmm, just tried the choc cupcakes andd they are goooooood

mumofk · 27/04/2008 13:28

but with dd i didn't put on nothing at all, weight same as prior pregancy as with her i couldn't really eat much, but she normal weight when born a 7lb baby, so i am not worried just suprised that i put on some weight this time, even if it not much. thinks its better this way.

Hi Everyone,

Wow lovely piccies....I must get my new camera wire up but TBH anything technical is far beyond me at the minute!

Caught up with all your posts but butter brain here is having trouble listing them all.

Very of everyones weight gain. I'm actually headin for nearly 3 and a half stone!!!

We went to Paradise wildlife park yesterday. Had a wonderful day but I really could not walk back to the car. Everything ached. DH tucked me into bed with a cup of tea and dr who and I slept through till about 10am this morning.

Trying to walk as much as possible at the moment. Have really bad SPD and using walking stick but the more I lay down the more stiff I appear to be.
No good for the many toilet trips I have to take at night.

asicsgirl · 27/04/2008 19:06

So much action on this thread!!

GCG, pina and all - great to see the profiles!

JBR Isla is lovely and the pics are wonderful.

Azaduhi talk about supernanny! I can just imagine you coming in and taking over. Fantastic.

YCBS what a bonkers story about your pg! That's definitely one to tell the grandkids

To you and the rest of the Herts posse - I'm from Barnet originally so not far from your neck of the woods!

otter Saltaire! I've been there a couple of times for the Day of Dance (so I guess that makes me one of the tourists ). Always seems like a very nice place. at your consultant - what a patronising idiot.

horseshoe sorry the SPD is so painful. Glad your DH is taking good care of you.

Pina your feelings - runs-but-not-runs, sickness, BH - sound just like mine - race you!

We've been feeling a bit overwhelmed by family - my Mum and stepdad are now up, and while I'm relieved to have someone here to look after DS if need be, I wasn't really ready for the change in pace. We're quite a quiet little bunch normally and the noise/ excitement levels always go up to 11 when the grandparents arrive. So I'm struggling a bit with the adjustment! Felt very tearful and over-stretched as I don't feel up to 'entertaining' and sorting everything/ everyone out in my usual fashion - I basically just want to get in my basket and turn round and round 40 times before settling down for a nap... They are very keen to help so I feel very ungrateful . But I've had a chat with my mum and they will do their best to stay out of the way until things kick off properly so that I get a chance to rest.

podglet · 27/04/2008 19:29

Super quick from me as Libby is currently waking up...

Pazza - lots of luck for tomorrow "enjoy" the section and meeting your babies - how exciting.

Lots of lovely new photos of you all on here, will update soon, when have some more of DD.

asicsgirl · 27/04/2008 19:42

Ooh yes good luck pazza! look forward to hearing about it

goodcatholicgirl · 27/04/2008 19:46

Hi all

Just a quick moan. I feel very heavy tonight. I have the inclination to do the ironing and some tidying up, but I just feel so uncomfortable standing . I know it's not long now, but I can't wait not to have this solid lump in front of me anymore!!

On a brighter note, DD has just started saying (very clearly) 'I love you mummy'. She comes up to me, looks me right in the eye and says it. It melts my heart everytime .

Lots of sympathy to horseshoe for your SPD . I know what it's like. Mine is a million times better than my last pregnancy, but I'm definitely worse at night where I am still, the 'joint' just stiffens up. Not long to go now....just rest as much as you can, but move a bit to stop stiffening up.

Best go and try and do something productive.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/04/2008 20:04

GCG sympathies with the big solid bump. I have such downward pressure that the pain stabs really hard and stops me in my tracks, it's much worse than with my previous pregnancies. I also hate my bump rubbing against the kitchen units, it makes it feel all sensitive and irritated. Urgh!!!!

I have physio tomorrow to check that my sacroliliac joints haven't jumped out again. They don't feel too bad, it's the pain at the front that's the problem - caused by the ligament that joins the front of the pelvis together giving way. I'm not sure there's much that can be done for that.

Best wishes to everyone suffering with something, but particularly the SPD which must be bloody awful.

KangaAndRoo · 27/04/2008 20:40

Good luck pazza!! x

goodcatholicgirl · 27/04/2008 20:58

duchess good luck with your physio . Hope your sacroiliac joints haven't 'jumped out' (LOL...very technical term!!).
Thanks for the big bump sympathy. IT JUST FEELS SO HARD....(as the actress said to the bishop....ooo-er missus in a carry on styleeee!!)
Anyone else really struggling with things like washing up. I am having to stand sort of sideways on and twist a bit to wash up....now as a physio I know that's NOT the way it should be done!!!! No wonder my muscles ache all down one side .

Oh dear, I really am feeling sorry for myself tonight.

Azaduhi · 27/04/2008 21:15

gcg- washing up? what is that? haven't done it for months dh has to do it as i can't stand for that long.

my spd is much better now, but still gets to me during the night, it's awfull if i try to turn around and change position in bed or trying to get out of the bed in the morning.
also last time when dh and me tried to be intimate (no offense) i had to tell him to stop as it was too painful.
so no bedtime fun for a while now, he must be so sad now, but i am not gonna force myself to it if i am in pain.

i might haven't put on as much as most of you but i DO feel quiet heavy and bump feels all baby now.
he started kicking me in my ribs again OUCH therefore can't wait for him to come out.
