Pleased to be able to start the new thread with our birth announcement!

Samuel arrived at 1923 on thursday 20th March, weighing in at 4lb 10oz! After a fraught day of trying to find a hospital with a NNU with a cot (our hospital NNU was closed just as we were about to go to theatre), we finally ended up at Epsom General!

Sam is still in NNU but should be coming off his last little bit of oxygen this evening, is off CPAP, and having a go at bf'ing whenever he can (he's being fed by a tube).

I'm home and feeling a whole lot better than I did last time around, although very sore - TAKE THE PAINKILLERS THEY OFFER!!!!!

Jacob not sure about the new arrival although is smitten with his new scooter

will catch up with posts later but thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and good wishes over the last few days

Pinacolada: You might find she will be easier once her sister arrives, coz then she will see the chnage in her life as apposed to guessing what life will be like. Hope you have a nice day with DH

mumofk - OMG!!! wow congratulations!! should like a really positive labour experience and really pleased that you got the labour you wanted

what did you eat? maybe we should all schedule meals with the girls when we want to get things started? that and the senokot!!

welcome niknak21! fingers crossed for wedding for you!

Pina - wish i could help with your DD... maybe she'll calm doen when LO arrives? list looks good to me - who do you think will be next? I has thought it would be casserole but mumofk beat her to it!! (as far as we know...)

magicfairy - keep us updated!! does sound very promising...

any news from bobsmum and casserole?

We're still on simmer over here, however we want bump to just hang fire till this evening as we have a man coming to fix the shower this afternoon (2 weeks without a working shower is NOT funny when pregnant... especially as I cant get out of the bath without help - I AM the walrus g'goo'g'joo...)

mumofk wahey! congratulations!! great to hear everything went well. Can't wait to hear about the home birth when you have time... as you know I'm planning one too and will have the same team... wondering which midwives you had!!

pina I think Mitchell81 makes a really good point, maybe if your DD is thinking hard about what life will be like with a new baby, the reality will reassure her! or at least be something concrete for her to deal with. Thanks for updating the list too x

magicfairy those do sound like classic 'going into labour' symptoms don't they... good luck!

otter sending leg-crossing vibes your way so the shower man doesn't get a shock! We are bath-only household (our bathroom is, I think, the original one that was put into the house decades ago - everyone always gasps at our loo as it's one of those ones with a cistern up above your head. And our bath has claws!) Up until now I've been 'Oh no, don't want a shower installing, we can manage without, they just make the bathroom mouldy anyway' but now in this walrus-y state I'm starting to see the advantages...

THis is all far too exciting for me... think I'll go and have a little lie down while DS is asleep. Sending pineappley curry-flavoured Senokot vibes to all those who want them... corks to those who don't

podglet · 25/04/2008 12:33

Hi all,

Flick - thanks for taking the plunge, will be over shortly!

JBR - good to hear from you though sorry to hear about your mum. Hope little Isla is doing ok.

GCG - I love IL's, my SIL is quite mad, she sent a card saying how proud she is of us for giving her the precious gift of a niece. I understand the sentiment but really...

Magic fairy - oooh, fingers crossed for you!

MumofK - Congratulations! Wow, record time to post! Look forward to hearing the name and more details soon! You'll have to change your name to MumofK&?

Poor old Mumblesmummy is having a really tough time, sending her lots of love.

Marched round the zoo yesterday with DD in a sling for 3 hours, regretting it a little today... DS had loads of fun though, saying "moo" to everything with 4 legs, except the lions which he roared at - v cute!

goodcatholicgirl · 25/04/2008 12:38

mumofk WOW! Congratulations, hearing things like that keeps me going, thinking that it could just start at any time, and be quite quick. I am so pleased for you, and it sounds as though you did really really well. Can't wait to hear the name. Well done, (((hugs))).

magicfairy Thanks for the linseed tip...I think I will give anything a go. I took 2 senokot last night, drank a litre of water through the night (few gulps each time I got up for a wee...quite a few times !). This morning managed a very small offering, still not satisfied!!!

pinacolada I agree with the others that your DD may well be better once baby arrives, it's probably the not knowing that is worrying her. I know it's really hard, and frustrating, but try and put yourself in her shoes, and how she must be feeling. I agree with you that she still needs disciplining (i.e. toys taken away) if she is doing naughty things like hair pulling, but make sure she gets a lot of love too..... which I'm sure you do anyway. She is probably seeing the baby as such a threat, esp as it's another girl. Good Luck, I feel for you.

Well, not much to report here. Had some 'necessary to try and bring on labour' sex last night which was suprisingly comfortable & very enjoyable for 39 weeks. It's just a shame that when you orgasm you get a simultaneous strong braxton hicks contraction which kind of ruins the moment . Sorry if TMI.

Took DD to soft play this morning. It's a lovely day here. DH off work, so I've told him I want to go out SOMEWHERE. I am getting so bored at home.

I have a MW appt on Tuesday when I will be 39+4. Do you think she would do a sweep if I asked her or do you have to be overdue? I know we are all feeling the same (mostly) but I just really wanna have it now!!! Not even allowing myself to think it could be 3 more weeks !!

GCG xxx

goodcatholicgirl · 25/04/2008 12:41

Blimey, what with poo and orgasms, I really do give too much away don't I??!!! .

It's funny what you discuss with people whose real names you don't even know!!!!!!! tee hee hee .

Hope I didn't offend anyone.

asicsgirl · 25/04/2008 13:03

GCG, I'm convinced it was the orgasms that got my labour going last time round! Had lots in the week that i went into labour so keep at it is what I say. Also re. constipation (while we're busy offending everyone ) I recommend drinking lots of orange juice - often seems to work for me. Don't know why I didn't think of this before, it's one of my stock strategies.

Not sure about the MW giving sweeps before the due date... I'll be interested to hear what she says!

podglet blimey 3 hours at the zoo! I'm very impressed. Sounds like you are doing really well. Congrats again

Thanks asics! I feel great but was shattered yesterday pm

GCG - I second the orange juice thing but put a little brown sugar in too (old wives tale but works for me for those ahem "bunged up" times }

otter1980 · 25/04/2008 13:11

podglet - awww how sweet does your DS sound...

GCG - i think your MW will sweep at 39+4 if you ask - thats the inpression my MW gave me.

I know what you mean about revealing things to people whose names you dont know... I've not told anyone in RL (other than DP) about show & contractions - mainly because although i am officially 3 and a half weeks to go people are already ringing to see if i've had that baby yet...

sweetbean · 25/04/2008 13:54

oooo happy due date bobsmum!!! you are indeed the first to reach 40 weeks, congratulations!!

shower man still not arrived. I have lost all sense and have just rung DP and cried about it.. DP now scared that otter is becoming crazy hormone lady she was in early stages (i am also afraid...)

sweetbean · 25/04/2008 15:27

Otter1980 At lest you can say that you managed to leave the hormonal stage at some point I've been stuck there the whole time!! xxx

mumofk- congratulations..sounds likes a straight forward birth experience, glad to hear everything went well.

niknak21 is not on our due date list (remembered because she is due same day as me)

now i personally believe that i could pop anytime soon and not in 3 weeks because,
my due date given by the mw was just guessed as i wasn't quiet sure when the first day of my last period was, but i know it must have been between 22-25 july 2007, while surfing the net yesterday i did a due date calculation on different websites and according to the calculations i am due on the 5th may and not 16th as mw said.

but then again all scans and measurements since early pregnancy matched the 16th as EDD. well maybe he is just a small baby?
just really confusing but i believe he will come out soon, so don't get suprised if you read my birth announcement soon. (hopefully)

Azaduhi · 25/04/2008 18:29

happy due date bobsmums

not gonna take part in those bets as we are all almost their and could all be next.

horseshoe · 25/04/2008 19:13

Azaduhi - My LMP was 8th August - giving me a due date of 14th MAY.

Probably worth taking your own caluclations and adding overdue dates and if LO still isn't here ask for scan to check placenta. Hopefully it wont be needed

MumofK - congratulations.

Happy due date bobsmum. I'm kinda hoping I wont have to celebrate mine

Not much to report really. Having braxton hicks for first time EVER.

Nearly ate the furniture polish as it smelt sooooo lovely. NEVER have I felt the need to do anything of the kind.

DD's are arguing constantly and driving me mad so gonna go and pack them both off to bed now!
