Pleased to be able to start the new thread with our birth announcement!

Samuel arrived at 1923 on thursday 20th March, weighing in at 4lb 10oz! After a fraught day of trying to find a hospital with a NNU with a cot (our hospital NNU was closed just as we were about to go to theatre), we finally ended up at Epsom General!

Sam is still in NNU but should be coming off his last little bit of oxygen this evening, is off CPAP, and having a go at bf'ing whenever he can (he's being fed by a tube).

I'm home and feeling a whole lot better than I did last time around, although very sore - TAKE THE PAINKILLERS THEY OFFER!!!!!

Jacob not sure about the new arrival although is smitten with his new scooter

will catch up with posts later but thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and good wishes over the last few days

Oh wow JBR, I can't believe we're going to have another baby on our thread! Good luck to you, hope it all goes smoothly

GCG, I am in Singapore, or as we 'affectionately' call it, Sweat City! We've been here for 3 years, and it's a nice place to live, but it's hard being away from home at a time like this. My GBS swab went fine, it was over in a second, and it was only a vaginal one - I'd got it into my head that they do a rectal one as well as the bacteria also live in that area, and that thought was freaking me out slightly! My OB is very nice, but it is weird (for me anyway) getting used to having a bloke fiddling around down there..sure in a couple of weeks I won't even care though!

mumofk · 08/04/2008 06:30

Wow JBR- hope all goes smoothly and you'll be feeling better, and have a LO to keep you busy very soon!!
Congrats to chuffed as well, but I don't suppose she'll get chance to get onto our thread to see it!
Sorry to hear about everyone with family troubles- pg seems to make everything like that 100 x worse....rotten stuff.
All my sleep yesterday has got me WIDE AWAKE since about 5 this morning. DD is just waking up now, which is a tad early considering she stayed awake (talking very loudly as I tried to have my relaxing bath !) very late, but she's with the childminder today so I don't have grumpy all afternoon-yippee, things to look forward to!
And, today is kiddicare delivery day! I really like the way they tell you BEFORE you place your order which day will be delivery day. Anyway, we thought we'd better get the new carseat. We tried one out in Mothercare, but kiddicare's about £30 cheaper so definately worth getting.
Right, better go start the day, fingers crossed its all quick and easy for you JBR!

Mitchell81 · 08/04/2008 07:44

Hi all,

Just wishing everyone well.

Blobsmummy...congratualations on baby being engaged.

Jackbllackroddy...I know patientline well. I was admitted two weeks ago for a DVT. It is a nightmare! All good wishes but at least you are in the right place to be monitored. Hope they have a lot of good magazines around. I also will have to be induced nearer my due date, now about 33 weeks.

Lots of love NS XXXX

Good luck JBR! Fingers crossed all goes well for you

Mitchell81 · 08/04/2008 12:52

Any advice on what I can do, I hurt my back this morning lifting wheelchair out the car. I have been fine lifting DD, but not used to lifting the wheelchair. I can now hardly walk for the pain, sitting on couch is so painful, only thing relatively unpainful is sitting on the floor leaning forward on the couch. I have a back brace type thing,( have done it twice before in the last 4 years), but no way it will fit round my stomach. I am in such pain. DS been very sweet with kisses.

Sweetbean sorry you are having a rough time at the moment

Pina hope you enjoy your cuddles with your friends newborn.

Wolverina · 08/04/2008 13:31

Mitchell81 That sounds horrible, I wish I had some useful advice but not sure what the best thing to do is. Maybe mumofk or GCG will be along with some good advice, I think they both have physio type jobs? Hope it feels better soon anyway.

Sweetbean, I also have this strange feeling that my baby will make an early appearance! DS was 2 days overdue, although waters broke on his due date, and this one is getting so big and feels very low, I really have my doubts s/he will hang on for another 5 weeks. As you say, we've prob jinxed it though and will be the last ones here!

BBM You must be psychic, I was thinking about digging that list out earlier to get started on my bag - thanks for making my life easier!

Well, I have some good news; my sister who is 29 weeks pg has seen the smoking counsellor and given up! I'm so happy that she's giving her baby this chance to be healthy, and just hoping that by stopping now she can reverse some of the ill effects..I'm not sure if it works like that, but I do hope so. It has to be better than carrying on to term and then raising the baby in a smoky house anyway.

Mitchell81 · 08/04/2008 13:52

Wolverina: thanks, glad that your sister has given up smoking.

otter1980 · 08/04/2008 14:15

wow - more babies!! Good luck JBR!!!!

hope everyones doing ok and not suffering too much!

BBmouse - I dont think i have half the stuff on the list but I think my OH will kill me if I start re-packing the bag...

MumofK - Ive been banned from going to the supermaket as I slow the whole process down too much apparently... hope your feeling a bit better though. did your stuff arrive ok?

swimmers - wow!! Im impressed with myself if i get to the co-op... Im going to meet some friends tomorrow and feel like Im plannning to walk everest...

Indigo - lol re nesting - I keep starting jobs, getting distracted and forgetting about them, this means our house looks like a clothes bomb went off.. why i decided to sort my waredrobe is beyond me....

family problems gang - sod 'em hey! at least we have a really good example of what not to be!

had a bit of a giggle at the thought of everyone struggling with their socks... i have given up wearing proper shoes and am wearing ballerina shoe thingys because it takes so long to get shoes tied and socks... dont get me started!!! have decided that I'd rather have cold feet!

we went to hospital today for 34 week scan, baby is currently 5lb 2 (apparently according to the guestamation) which is where she should be! and we saw little bean again! so very excited!

I'm hoping we're early, spoke to dr today and apparently when i have my 38 week scan they will decide when to induce me (between 38 -40 weeks)because of the GD. Boo! So when the professionals left the room I turned to OH and told him in no uncertain terms that from 36 weeks we'd be eating only curry and pineapple, drinking rasberry leaf tea, driving on every potholed road ever and that he would be forced to have sex with me because i needed his sperm... he did look afraid... however when i review that statement i can see why... poor love!

sweetbean · 08/04/2008 14:23

Mitchell81 Hope your ok hun sounds horrible can you go to your GP and maybe get referred to a physio or chiropractor? Really hope you feel better soon xx

Wolervina When are you due i had a look on the list but couldn't see you? ive still got 6+4 weeks to go so ages to wait for me but am really hoping for a nice 38 weeker

Wolverina · 08/04/2008 15:06

Sweetbean I'm due on 10th May according to my dates, and I still go by that one even though the 12 week scan put it back a few days - at this stage even a few days makes a difference! So hopefully only got 4+3 weeks to go!
I had a nasty feeling it was going to start dragging now but really it seems to be doing the opposite and now i keep thinking I need more time to get things sorted!

podglet · 08/04/2008 15:14

Hi all,

Good luck JBR - hope all goes / is going really well - can't wait for the announcement

Sweetbean - hope you are ok lovely

Re shoes, socks are a struggle and I have had to give up on my CAT boots and live in my grotty red trainers - classy! Have got some ballet style shoes but it is still icy cold here...

Hospital bag for me and DD is all packed and ready to go - have even put my notes in as I have no more appointments between now and "C" day - one week to go!

Just a quick note about due dates, my due date with DS was decided on WHEN I WAS IN THE DELIVERY SUITE!!!!!!!! They spent the whole pg faffing about whether it was anytime between 18th and 22nd Nov and finally decided he was due on 22nd - he turned up on the 1st anyway!

Wolverina · 08/04/2008 15:19

Podglet Do you mean the 1st November or December?? If November that must have been a bit of a surprise! How big was he?

podglet · 08/04/2008 15:25

Sorry, must read before hitting post! 'Twas 1st November and he was 7lb 15oz! I had polyhydramnios that time too and my body couldn't cope with the weight of 3 litres water and baby! It was a bit of a shocker, happened on my first day of mat leave too!

Wolverina · 08/04/2008 15:38

Wow, that's a good size for so early! My DS was 8lb 15oz at term, and the OB has been convinced this one will be much smaller, until my check up today when he scanned me and told me in a surprised way that baby has been growing very well - hopefully I'll have another big'un!

sweetbean · 08/04/2008 15:57

My DD was 8lb 6oz just hoping that this one is not to much bigger!!
