Pleased to be able to start the new thread with our birth announcement!

Samuel arrived at 1923 on thursday 20th March, weighing in at 4lb 10oz! After a fraught day of trying to find a hospital with a NNU with a cot (our hospital NNU was closed just as we were about to go to theatre), we finally ended up at Epsom General!

Sam is still in NNU but should be coming off his last little bit of oxygen this evening, is off CPAP, and having a go at bf'ing whenever he can (he's being fed by a tube).

I'm home and feeling a whole lot better than I did last time around, although very sore - TAKE THE PAINKILLERS THEY OFFER!!!!!

Jacob not sure about the new arrival although is smitten with his new scooter

will catch up with posts later but thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and good wishes over the last few days

Found this announcement from Chuffed on a Post Natal thread:

We have our triplets!!!

Born 19th March at around 12.30pm at 32w 3d.
Mischa Grace 1.75kg
Reese Sofia 1.67kg
Tasmin Jade 1.72kg

They are all doing really well, breathing on their own today and dh and I got some skin to skin cuddles which was lovely.

CONGRATULATIONS CHUFFED!

Back to me me me, who doesn't post very often ... off to a scan tomorrow (I am 33+3) to check the position of the placenta. Heidi (otherwise known as DC3 or DD1) is transverse and I have had a second acupuncture appointment today to try to turn her - am rather keen to achieve this as wouldn't know how to cope with a Caesar a newborn a 2.5yo and a 5yo. Will come back tomorrow to update.

Congratulations to other early arrivals - DS1 was 35weeks so I know what a shock it can be even when bub is well and a good size.

My IL's are here for another week so I am putting off nursery and hospital bag preparations until they are gone, but reading about the premmies has made me seriously consider whether that is a good idea .

Mitchell81 · 07/04/2008 14:55

Hello everyone,
Sorry those who are having family problems.
I was over 9 lbs and DH was 8 lbs, DD weighed 10 lbs 4 ozs and DS was 8 lbs 12 ozs, so I am expecting about 9 lbs for this baby. I have big babies. Can't believe that lo will arrive in exactly 5 weeks today. Can't wait.

Well done Baiyu on getting the flat

Pina- congrats to your friend

Chuffed: pleased she had her triplets and that they are all well.

For all those feeling big and uncomfortable I sympathise, but I wouldn't mind the weather improving so I no longer need to wear closed in shoes and can start where sandals, so I don't need to bend over.

Enjoy the rest of your day, been sleeping all day as school holidays are now over and can have my day time nap again.

Otter - both hands are the same size now . Thanks for asking! Sorry to here about your family woes - hope you have lots of other supportive people around you instead x

Mitchell - took me a couple of minutes to put a sock on this morning - I must have looked a pathetic sight madly waving a sock in roughly the right direction of my foot .

Would love to be in flip flops right now. Actually, I have bought my slippers into work with me today (but haven't plucked up courage to wear them yet!)

Aussie - really hope bub turns for you - good luck.

Off to in-laws this evening for Inidan takeaway, so looking forward to no cooking or washing up!

PazzaPlusTwo · 07/04/2008 15:45

Wolverina - so sorry to hear about your dad (and casserole about your PILs) - sounds awful. Maybe they don't realise they're doing it - or how much it can hurt. People are weird sometimes aren't they.

casserole I'm with you on the 'it just feels like an ending rather than a beginning' ... I'm really feeling odd having started mat leave earlier than expected after building up my company with a friend for 3 years, and now being totally out of it all, not having had time to do a proper handover (which may have been cathartic!), and feeling unprepared and daunted by prospect of motherhood ...

I'm trying to think of it as the same feeling I got when I went off on a long trip years ago, just before landing in a strange country - pretty scared in that moment but it all worked out fine and was the most amazing adventure

podglet - 8 days!!! how exciting! I'm sure you will be fine, looking forward to seeing some piccies of LO

blobsmummy I have one club foot and took my wedding ring off last week while I still could

I just washed my first load of tiny bodysuits and sheets

pinacolada, wolverina, casserole and otter1980 at your family problems!! Blimey, I can't believe what some of you ladies have been through. podglet, your SIL sounds just lovely....NOT. I hope you can all try not to let it get to you, but I'm sure it's very hard.

wolverina How did your GBS swab go? I went for a smear once at surgery, booked in with a female GP then when I arrived she was off sick so I got a male one. The receptionist asked me if it was OK, and I def hesitated, but then I thought, oh blow it, I have someone looking after DD (only a few months old at the time) and I've just had a baby, they've seen it all before blah blah blah!! It was a bit embarassing, but he was v nice and made polite chit chat while he did the deed!!!
Whereabouts do you live?? Can't imagine being so hot at the mo!

blobsmummy My DD (same age as yours) was the same with the snow..ha ha! Giving it all 'look at the snow mummy!!' from inside, then when we had to go out to church, freaked out cos it was actually snowing, and it was landing on her!!! Funny little things. She was scared of the sand at the beach on hols last year too . Let's hope that changes!

janemf My parents still have my old cot, which was a hand-me-down to them, we think it's over 40 years old! Apparently thay just can't part with it...but when I suggested they put it in spare room to use when we come with DC (we only have 1 travel cot and DD not in a bed yet) they said 'oh no, it's not good enough for that'.....so why keep it then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are such hoarders!!

otter1980 You will never take my crown (or pinacoladas) as most mammoth poster . People have tried, and failed..... Although mumofk is a very strong contender XXX

Well I am feeling a bit chuffed cos I just went swimming for the first time in 3 weeks, I wanted to try out my swiMP3 player, (which was fab btw), I felt as if I was swimming in treacle, SUCH hard work!! I can't believe how unfit or heavy I have become in the last 3 weeks. So I decided, just do 30 lengths, or maybe 40. However, I seemed to loosen up a bit and managed 64 lengths!!! I think the music helped!! Now a bit warn out mind you .

Can't stop thinking about my 'very low in pelvis' baby....keep thinking my waters are gonna break any day now!!

goodcatholicgirl · 07/04/2008 16:01

pazzaplustwo I had to go on mat leave earlier than planned with DD, and I HATED it, I am such a Monica Geller organised type person, it felt horrible that things were out of my control, so I know kind of how you feel, but must be even worse when it's your own company that you set up.
Regarding the daunting prospect of having children and ends and not beginnings, I can honestly say that I don't miss my 'pre-DD' life at all. I was 32 when I had her, so I felt happy that I had had a really good time in my 20's socialising etc, and we are lucky to have family nearby to babysit, so we still get to go out a bit, but that aside, DD is just SUCH A JOY, nothing compares to how she makes me feel. I love my life with her now, we love spending time as a family and I'm sure you will feel the same way when your babies are here.....perhaps not straight away, but when they get to about 6 months and get more intresting, and doing things, it is definitely all worthwhile. I'm sure all you first timers will just love it (just not at first...maybe!!)

mumblesmummy · 07/04/2008 16:10

Hi all.

Pina- I know what you mean about the water infections, but to be honest, I had hundreds before I was preg too.

Baby's engaged!!! I went to the doctors because my pelvis is killing me so I need to have physio and she felt about and she was shocked because he's engaged already at 35+1. Bring on baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gcg 64 lengths? most impressed. I am going 2-3 time a week and the most I manage is 35-40 with a couple of rests in the middle. It's quite enjoyable but I need an ultra ultra slow lane now just to myself.

Glad I'm not the only one struggling to put socks and shoes on, and having puffy ankles.

I'm really really looking forward to the end result! I know we shouldn't complain too much given all those who would dearly love to be in our position. But it is nice to whinge with everyone else and feel a bit more normal. It means I don't whinge so much in RL.

mumblesmummy · 07/04/2008 16:45

Oh also, I was wondering, has anyone got pins and needles in one hand constantly?? Why?????

Well done those who are swimming lengths! I do a lil bit of aquanatal and I'm shattered.

Very impressed with those swimming and doing exercise.

I am so annoyed I have waited all day for my DD's new buggy to arrive, looks like I will need to wait in again tomorrow. Only problem will be out for a couple of hours as she has a hospital appointment and it will probably arrive then. Typical

goodcatholicgirl · 07/04/2008 18:02

YCBS I too am longing to get my birkies back on....last week when the weather was so nice I put all my boots and winter shoes away, and got all my sandals, birkies, summer shoes, crocs etc out, then it snowed again on Sunday !!!

PazzaPlusTwo · 07/04/2008 18:05

If anyone needs an excuse to NOT go swimming , I pulled my sacro-iliac joint (spine to pelvis) with a dodgy breaststroke kick months ago. It got better but then it came back with a vengeance recently and I've had to have physio for it, it's really buggered things up for me exercise-wise.

Last time I went swimming I could do about 6 lengths, and I got paranoid someone was going to kick my bump as the lanes are quite tight.

mumofk · 07/04/2008 20:20

Hi all, sorry just popped on for a moan, feeling absolutely shite today. All I've done is a trip round sainsbo's (thought it might work out cheaper doing a big shop than popping down 3 times a week!) and it was hell. I was there before 9, so nice and quiet but needed a sit down half way round (thank goodness for chemists counters!), nearly swore at the checkout person for being too chatty (just f**ing hurry up so I can sit down again) thing is, she had been lovely, letting me use the fast track till so I didn't actually queue, and did all my packing and told me I had to have an extra bag coz otherwise the bags'd be too heavy, and told me to only take in the chilled bag when I got home, the rest could wait till someone else got home (actually, now I'm blubbing at how nice she was and how I didn't appreciate it at the time, just wanted to sit down before I passed out!). I did sit down by the checkouts, but by this point the staff were watching me, and I wasn't THAT bad, just breathless, hot and wobbly so waddled to the seats by the door till I was ready to drive (all of 2 minutes home, it's a 20 minute walk when not pg, but uphill home). Why don't supermarkets have more places to sit down??!!! Oh, the scary thing was I realised I was getting regular brackston hicks all round the shop, and sitting was uncomfortable (reminded me of labour....)that stopped when I got home though!
Anyway, that's all I did today. Sat on the sofa this morning too tired to open the laptop or turn on the tv (DH realised I must be bad if I hadn't even got on mumsnet!!) then slept ALL afternoon, and was late picking DD up from childminders, I slept so much.
All in all, I'm in awe of you who can GET to the swimming baths, let alone DO something when you're there! I can't believe I@m the same person who manged to lay flooring last week, I couldn't even wash up!
Right, after all this exitement of turning on the laptop, I'm ready for bath and bed now. Sorry, I'm not following much of what is being said, but will have to cathc up when I'm less brain dead.
Hugs to all, hope you're having good days (we missed the snow, DD gutted, but we were planting seeds in the garden for 10 mins this evening, and we didn't need coats on - W Yorks!!)

Hi all

I'm also definitely in the club of being fed up of being pregnant now, I seem to alternate between days of feeling ok, and feeling so tired I can hardly do anything. DH is going to be away for nearly 4 days from friday so I'm dreading being on my own with a toddler all that time as I just don't have the energy!

Am also finding it hard to sleep at night, always wake up boiling hot and having nightmares.

Think the nesting has kicked in too as when i do have any energy I'm doing things like vacuuming under the bed and taking stuff to the tip!

Just remember everyone not long to go now really!

JackBlackRoady · 08/04/2008 02:41
