Note to self: must start perineal massage!!

Lovely names ladies - we haven't got anything set in stone - think we will wait until the baby is born to firstly see what the sex is and secondly what name suits! Arrrggg - this name business is so hard! We want a name we will love forever and hopefully our child will love too.

bunyanvillas · 27/03/2008 21:06

Molly, just don't make my mistake and purchase a packet of 5 ...

Mollyfloss · 27/03/2008 21:06

Must 'buy' one tomorrow I meant, butting one wouldn't be much good to me

EllieG · 27/03/2008 21:07

Liking all the names - Emilia is gorgeous. Abigail lovely too - is on our shortlist too actually. And Ailish is fab - I love Irish names but DP is very Welsh so would be a bit silly having an Irish name.

DP has gone out to the pub with his mate who just turned up - this is Very Rare and I am rather liking it. How come even though am bored all day by myself, time on my own in the evening feels like a lovely treat? Have put on Bob Dylan CD instead of TV or loud nasty shooting/football PS3 game and am chilling my boots with cuppa. Aaaaahhhhh.....

Mollyfloss · 27/03/2008 21:11

The discomfort I feel with perineal massage has just made me think how painful birth will be and that my great idea of trying to do it without an epidural is probably ridiculous. I'm sure I'll be screaming for it after 5 mins.

Thanks for the advice Bunyan: I must not buy a 5 pack of aeros. Nothing of a chocolate nature has lasted more than a day here

EllieG · 27/03/2008 21:15

I did that massage thing once but have forgotten to do it again. I am lazy and will probably regret it when have horrid tearing, but there you go.

Am getting slightly panicy about people viewing nurseries already - do you think I am OK leaving it until after the baby is born? I can't be arsed to go traipsing round them at the moment, am too tired. And don't need a place til next April.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 27/03/2008 21:29

Well I also felt like that Ellie, and when I spoke to the manager of the nursery school I went to today, she told me that this was the best time to do it as if I left it until baby was born, I would probably be too tired + getting in sooner meant more of a chance of getting a place for baby as siblings of children already at the nursery get 1st preference.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 27/03/2008 21:30

Oh and we also need a place for next April and she said I really shouldn't leave it any later...

TLSM · 27/03/2008 21:35

Has anyone else suffered from what feels like knitting needles being shuffed up your doing! I feel really crap

Mollyfloss · 27/03/2008 21:54

Ellie: I wouldn't go trapsing around to all the nurseries now, that will exhaust you but you could just ring around a few and ask them how far in advance you need to apply. If you really need to apply now, you could summon up the energy to have a look at those one's and if in doubt put the baby's name down and can maybe always say no if he/she gets a place. At least that way you'd have options later.

Personally I'm trying to do as much research as possible from my sofa but I haven't actually applied for any yet. I'm a bit more flexible with timing (as I don't have a deadline as such for going back to work) but should maybe get her name down in a couple of places though as I probably won't be up to it after the baby is born.

ThePFJ · 27/03/2008 22:14

Hugs for TLSM.. hope your doings feel better soon.

After listening to everyone mentioning nurseries I looked into the one here in our village that goes from 3-5 and 5-7 (infants) and the government reports look good. I emailed them yesterday to ask when is best to be put on the waiting list and they sent me a reply saying they would need babies name/dob/address etc just after he is born.
I guess even here in the quieter parts of Derbyshire there is a queue! >.<

Am so glad I asked them now, and its all thanks to you girls.

Ellie I tried doing p-massage once too. I really just havent bothered since. I now count sex as massage enough as it gets prickly and stings down there on 'entry' TMI I KNOW.. which isnt normally how it works in the bedroom for us ...but anyway.. ahem.

No knitting needles but after I have been sitting for a while and then get up, I feel as if I have spent the day horseriding! Have just worked a 12 hour day so exhausted as well!

vacaloca · 28/03/2008 04:57

It's started. Wish me luck please!

TLSM · 28/03/2008 07:30

Good Luck Vocaloca xx

Chipmonkey know how you feel by the end of the day at work my back is numb! how long have you got left?

PFJ you do make me laugh! My BIL lives just out side Derby in Duffield and my sister used to like there in a little villiage up in the Dales called Winster she is now moving to Dubia how different can that be!

I have been up most of the night (sorry TMI) with Diarea and when I wipe there is pink/red stripy stuff I also have a horrid back ache I am seeing the doctor at 10.15 to see if the baby has turned he was moving loads last night it made me feel quite sick but I still think he is breech! so I will ask then if all is ok - one more point has anyone else checked their cervix I checked mine this morning because of the pink discharge and its really low and open should I be worried I have to walk half a mile to the bus stop and there is a railway bridge in the middle - I havent said anything to my DH as I dont want him to worry so he went to work as usual at 6.00!

right now going to read vaca's thread

VictorianSqualor · 28/03/2008 08:04

Oh Wow, sounds like yours may be starting soon too TLSM, your cervix is obviously ripening. Can I ask how open it is? Can you get fingers in the opening? (if you don't want to tell me I'll understand ) but that's how they tell how dilated you are.

Vacaloca, I've left a message on your otehr thread.

I was hoping it would be me today as I was having contractions (Really low down in my stomach though, different to my last ones) every ten minutes last night. DP and I said it would be best to go to bed though try and get some sleep incase it got worse and it stopped

TLSM · 28/03/2008 08:13

Ok just had a check wasnt sure i should but have read its ok and I can get two fingers inside easily wondering whether thats because i am saggy after having Max or am like a bucket! I am only 35+6 he is not due for 4 weeks but my back hurts loads ohhhh now I am scared! my mum is nearly 2 hours away and she is having Max

VictorianSqualor · 28/03/2008 08:16

Okay well it is ok to check as long as your fingers are clean and you don't try to stretch it! (That's a job for a midwife).

I'd suggest calling your mw out now and explain the show and back ache, as you're early they'll probably want to check you out.

Many people after a first baby can always get one finger in, but not two, so you're probably a bit dilated (not too much to worry about though, you can be dilated for weeks).

TLSM · 28/03/2008 08:34

I think my worry is the GBS and the fact he is breech god things cant be simple can they

PortAndLemon · 28/03/2008 08:37

Knitter saw your photographs on Facebook lovely!

VictorianSqualor · 28/03/2008 08:43

Try having a look at some of these to try turning baby.
Have you considered ECV?.
A friend of mine went into labour a couple of weeks ago, breech baby, she was 40+1 and told it wouldnt turn, she said 'oh yes it will!' and they turned it for her, she started her ctx at about 7am, had baby by 1pm and it was all fine, so it can be done pretty safely.

TLSM · 28/03/2008 08:53

I think I have too much of Me chunk to turn him! I have rang the delivery suite and they have asked me to go in for a check so DH is on his way home my Mum is on alert and I have rang Nursery to beg them to take Max on a day the dont usually! Right need to get washed wish me luck - Bet I will be back later feeling very sorry for myself and my false alarm!

EllieG · 28/03/2008 08:57

Oh loads of luck to you Vaca! Have everything crossed for you having the birth you want x

TLSM - hope you are OK. Give your MW a call maybe?

Hello everyone else.

Have ante natal today I like hearing the baby's heartbeat, and last two times they have given me a quick scan to check position, so have got to see her! DSD was very sweet this morning, cuddling me and talking to her 'baby sister'.

EllieG · 28/03/2008 08:58

Sorry xpost there tlsm - best of luck!

TheMaskedPoster · 28/03/2008 09:28

hi all - OH good luck TLSM and vacaloca!

hope all are well.

Olivia is doing really well and feeding brilliantly. I forgot how tiring it is getting v, little sleep... my blood pressure was up yesterday (for the first time) so midwife coming back to chk it again today. I think it is due to lack of sleep over the last few nights, as otherwise I feel wonderful.

tmp xx

will try and catch up one day soon, but my time is at a premium these days . Often thinking of you all and will pop in to see how things are progressing. x
