SuzeM · 27/03/2008 18:16

Hope those of you hoping to deliver soon do so! I am 38 weeks next Monday and in no rush yet, I am quite looking forward to two weeks to myself. Last day at work tomorrow.

What are good meals to cook and freeze?

Quick poll: which name do you prefer, Emilia, Julia or Christina? Emilia is still my favourite but I am concerned that people will confuse it with Amelia.

VictorianSqualor · 27/03/2008 18:20

I love all three, have known two gorgeous girls called Julia and Christina and isn't the bird from Silent Witness called Emilia Fox?
It's probably quite a well known name now.

VictorianSqualor · 27/03/2008 18:22

Thought so people of our age will recognise the name definitely so I wouldnt worry too much.
Children her age will just accept her as Emilia because it's what they'll know her as.

SuzeM · 27/03/2008 18:27

Tx VS. I guess I should go with my favourite. I am probably overly concerned because I often get called Susan (am Suzanne).

scorpio1 · 27/03/2008 18:46

Emilia my fave

VS - yes engaged baby does feel like that, almost like you have to put your hand there to stop it falling out. You may not be long....

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. Am only planning on being pg for another week. Am taking 3 RL tablets a day plus one cuppa pg tea. Although label does say one or two; in a few days (maybe Wednesday) i will take 6 a day.

moominsmummy · 27/03/2008 19:15

hello everyone

LOL at Scorpio "planning" on being pg for another week I have already informed MW I am "planning" on a 30 minute labour

PFJ - so thrilled for you that your mum is coming up - hope you have lovely time together

Thanks for all the name suggestions - I think we have finally come to a decision on a boys names - Sam Elliot

just taking a short break to go and get some cripy duck and pancakes - yum

ThePFJ · 27/03/2008 19:56

Awwww... thats a LOVELY name moomin!

Suze I prefer Emilia out of the three to be honest.
I know how you feel about being called Susan. My name is Lara but I get called Laura and Lauren/Lorna/any other likely name apart from Lara most of the time because people who I get introduced to don't trust their own ears. Harhar.

I don't mind so much though. I think the people who ACTUALLY listen to my name and get it right stand out from the crowd, so I instantly know who is worth knowing
xxx

Fleecy · 27/03/2008 20:03

Hi everyone, haven't been on for ages and too much to catch up on but congrats to those who've already met their new arrivals. I'm not at all jealous...

LO will be Emilia if she's a girl (Sebastian if a boy) so that's def my vote.

Anyhoo, am 38+3 and cross today so thought I'd post and join those of you who are getting impatient.

LO was engaged at my 34wk appt and my 36wk appt but has now popped right back out. Boo! Had a gush of water this morning - turns out it was a hindwater leak and I've had absolutely no contractions or trickling since so spent this morning all excited and am now feeling all anti-climactic. It's my own fault - DD was born at 37+1 so I never thought for a second I'd still be waiting this time...

Peachy · 27/03/2008 20:08

Ha- you should all try being called claire/ clair/ clare/ klair..... more variations than you can imagine! And we always have to say 'like the fruit' after our surname or poeple think we are hoax callers.....

Had quite a few contractions today, nausea, a few spots of blood, tireedness..... then the boys kicked off badly and it all stopped again . Went for a walk and had a pineapple followed by curry for dinner, but Dh off to work now so no chance.

SuzeM · 27/03/2008 20:12

Sam is a lovely name.

Scorpio, is Millie going to be Emilia on her birth cert? You made me laugh when you said you were only going to be pregnant for another week. My dh said yesterday that he has decided that the baby can be one week late but no more, as then the suspense will be too much for him. Never mind me with the swollen ankles!

That's a good way of looking at it, ThePFJ. Have a lovely time with your mum.

SuzeM · 27/03/2008 20:17

Peachy, good luck!

ToastAddict · 27/03/2008 20:20

DH working from home today, so he's been on the computer, I've only just managed to get on! But we have ordered a laptop and wireless broadband, so soon there will be no stopping me, hurrah!!

We are really struggling with names - I like Charlotte, but DH isn't convinced as doesn't like Charl/Charlie/Lottie which he says it will inevitably be shortened to. His suggestion is Carolyn, which I like, but it just seems a bit grown up for a little baby, iykwim??? Also, all this talk of having to correct people's spelling - do you think she will go through life saying "no, Carolyn not Caroline"?

I'm off to see 3 nurseries on Monday - I know it sounds daft, but are there any particlar questions I should be asking? i.e. ratio of staff to children etc?

moominsmummy · 27/03/2008 20:22

v envious of the Emilia's - I love the name but it's too similar to our surname so can't have it for a girl - so we have Abigail Charlotte instead

just ate 1/4 crispy duck by myself - yum - thank god the pregnancy police haven't banned it (along with alcohol, caffeine, pate etc etc)

a couple of prawn crackers leftover if anyone wants one?? surely they don't count as seafood??

moominsmummy · 27/03/2008 20:28

x-post there TA - we had the same debate with Charlotte - hence why it's a middle name

if visiting a nursery make an excuse to use their loo - they'll have to let you use the staff one and you can see what handwashing facilities they have - at DS's first nursery the loo was immaculate - lots of nice soap and smellies for the staff, paper towels and signs reminding them to wash hands properly; when we moved and looked around one nursery here there was no soap at all in the staff loo and just one small damp towel

ThePFJ · 27/03/2008 20:35

I prefer Carolyn to Caroline ToastAddict. I don't mind correcting people with my name sometimes, it only happens when you are in a new circle e.g. new job/new school/friends etc. It's not a constant worry ever. I'd go with the spelling you like best and not worry about anything else, your baby girl will prefer it the pretty way you chose

bunyanvillas · 27/03/2008 20:53

I have eaten 4 x Aeros today - plus a seriously large helping of ice-cream. Peachy - good luck!! Am envious of all those "kicking off" - 37 weeks here and counting! Loving the names, too

Mollyfloss · 27/03/2008 20:55

I like Emilia a lot - very pretty.

We've gone all Irish and are calling our baby girl Ailish. It's only fair as her surname is American. We've been calling her that for months so it's unlikely to change. If I went really Irish though I would write it Eilish or Eilis but then I think most people outside of Ireland wouldn't get it.

I'm 'planning' on giving birth after the 9th of April because my Doc is away from the 3rd to the 9th and I have got so used to her I really want her to deliver. Sods law will probably have it that I'm the only one who doesn't want to go early and then I will.

I'm having one to two cups a day of raspberry tea anyway. I thought it was more to tone your uterus than actually induce labour...?

By the way, only started perineal massage a few days ago. It's really uncomfortable and it sort of burns and stings.

Mollyfloss · 27/03/2008 20:57

x-posts, Bunyan: yum to aeros, haven't had one of those in a long time. Must but one tomorrow
