Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooo a muffin would be nice. Thanks PFJ

DP said to me, 'I think you're missing the point anyway darling, is much more important what kind of Dad I'll be when the LO comes out, and you know I'll try my best and love her loads, as love (DSD) loads'. To which I says, 'Yes but I want you to be excited too!' And then realised that was sounding like a petulant child, so went and had a cuppa and shut up

christmaspixie · 26/03/2008 09:31

Thanks for the tea, and toast PFJ. Hands around extra choc spread to go on the toast for all the happy babies!!!

ThePFJ · 26/03/2008 09:32

Hehehe. Yes, sometimes I just wish mine would do some kind of excited happy dance and look at me in an over excited way while patting my belly.
This so isn't his style, and I should just be quiet about the whole thing really

EllieG · 26/03/2008 09:37

Mine's exactly the same. Went to ante natal class last night and there were all these keen-as-mustard Daddies there, which made me feel very sorry for myself (especially as was there by self as couldn't get a babysitter so DP had to stay at home). But I have to remind myself before I get carried away on a tide of hormones and self-pity that he just ain't like that, he doesn't really do getting excited about stuff til it happens, but is a bloody fantastic Dad to DSD, cuddly and loving and enthusiastic as they come, so [she says grudgingly] I suppose that is more important.

ThePFJ · 26/03/2008 09:39

...still... just one little happy dance...

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 26/03/2008 09:39

LOL at the thought of your DH doing a happy dance!

EllieG · 26/03/2008 09:52

We can do happy dances for each other.

Am doing one now [prances in excited way for PFJ and her baby]

Right, now that's done, am off to tidy up and get dressed. See you all later x

peach123 · 26/03/2008 10:34

northeastmummy · 26/03/2008 10:48

And woo hoo to TMP for what sounds like an amazing birth. I can't wait to hear more details.

egyptianprincess · 26/03/2008 10:50

Hi everyone
Congrats to gemprincess, Daftmoo, Knitter and the TMP. How fabulous! I know I haven't posted in months but I have been lurking and keeping up with everyone's news. Have really severe SPD so am practically housebound so haven't had very cheery or exciting news to share. I am SO impatient now and am trying to mentally will the baby to come early!
Am hoping to have a water birth at the Royal Free hospital in London as that will make the SPD more bearable. Am quite worried though because there's only one room with a proper birthing pool which obviously can't be booked so i need to get lucky and hope nobody is in it when I need to go in.
Did some hilarious ante natal classses which were very new age- had to keep kicking my dh to stop him from arguing with the teacher on every issue (eg placenta eating etc). Seriously, you can't take men anywhere!
Had my 38 week check yesterday and baby not at all engaged- does this mean it will be late?

christmaspixie · 26/03/2008 11:51

Oh Poor you EP, I had SPD at the end of my last pregnancy and I had to literally crawl everywhere, so I totally sympathise, it's awful! Haven't had it as bad this time (fingers crossed at 37 weeks). Ellie, My DP is the same about pregnancy, not at all excited, or emotional or anything, it worried me last time, but once she was born he was over the moon and the best most loving Dad I know!! - he's right, it IS much more important how he acts after the birth!! x

christmaspixie · 26/03/2008 11:52

Oh and hello Peach, add yourself to the list!

EllieG · 26/03/2008 11:56

Damn it, I hate it when he's right

Hello peach - congrats on your nearly-here LO. When are you due in April?

I just went to choose menu for wedding - looks sooooo yummy. Am gonna have all the food I can't have now - will be an orgy of sashimi and moules and goats cheese and things with uncooked eggs in. And LOADS of wine.

REALLY want this baby out now, if only for the food and booze am missing!

EllieG · 26/03/2008 11:57

Oh and hello EP - wasn't ignoring you, sorry about the SPD, but on the home stretch now. Much LOLing re placenta eating

scorpio1 · 26/03/2008 11:59

I am (imagine my face as this one)

Millie is free now!! Was 3/5 2 weeks ago. what is going on?!?!am 38 weeks on friday.

EllieG · 26/03/2008 12:04

My midwife said that sometimes baby doesn't engage properly til go into labour. So might not mean is goign to take any longer.

scorpio1 · 26/03/2008 12:06

Mine said that too, but felt like i was getting somewhere.....oh well. She said sometimes third ones dont even engage unti llabour; but nowi feel like im going to go overdue.

chipmonkey · 26/03/2008 12:07

Oh, Scorpio! Give her a good talking-to! That is annoying!

VictorianSqualor · 26/03/2008 12:08

I'm 38+1 today, bump was only 4/5ths yesterday so I wouldn't worry about it.

scorpio1 · 26/03/2008 12:09

oh VS, so yours is not much more in than mine? Oh feel bit better now.

Funeral on Tuesday i heard today.

scorpio1 · 26/03/2008 12:10

oh and PMSL

got on the bus today, asked for a single to home; bus driver gave me a child ticket!!!

EllieG · 26/03/2008 12:18

Oh bless. He must've thought you were very advanced for your age!

I have a question -

How long do the period-pain like pre-labour pains last before actually start labour? Can they go on for a good few weeks?

scorpio1 · 26/03/2008 12:20

Yes Ellie, i'm afraid so. You ok?

EllieG · 26/03/2008 12:22

Yep, just hoping someone would say no it's a sign of imminant (sorry for spelling) labour, get thee to a hospital. Hey-ho. Haven't got cot etc ready so is probably for the best.
