Denny - er....um....[tries to remember why wanted one so badly]....oh yes joy of creating new life and having little snuggly sniffy baby.

I think that was what it was anyway!

Ooo yes, forgot peachy.

Still think TMP might be the next popper though, is sounding promising from what she posted this morning. The winner gets all my left over easter eggs (not much)

Carey87 · 25/03/2008 09:43

Sorry, season 3 of House!

OP posts:
Denny185 · 25/03/2008 09:47

Love house

You still have easter eggs left?

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 09:50

My DH likes to procrastinate on this kind of stuff too. He's not the best handy man but I've made him promise to hang the pictures tonight. They are lovely pastel paintings of little flower fairies that I got an artist I found on the street in Paris to do for me. I have really enjoyed doing the baby's room but she will be sleeping in our room for 6 months and couldn't care less what's on the wall or what colour her sheets are anyway so it's more for my enjoyment than anything!

As for dressing DD's, I think my niece has been too good an example. She is such an easy little thing (she's 4) and is very girly so it's pretty easy to dress her up. I'm sure she'll make up for it in her teenage years! I wasn't that girly at all when I was a child. With 3 brothers I had no interest in all that sort of thing.

I'd give the winner my left over Esater Eggs too but there is none left

I've been watching 'Dirt' all weekend. It's not bad but my favourite is by far 'Lost'.

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 09:51

I want to pop though

But am 37+4 today so not yet. I think a week Sunday is the day. (39+2) I'm not ready yet because my brain is too focused on my Nan still, i think it will happen when that has calmed down.

GO TMP!!!!

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 09:53

oh and i found the bastarding cat in Mimi's pushchair this morning - i threw her outside VERY crossly

EllieG · 25/03/2008 09:54

I have a very teeny bit of egg left. DSD got so many that I couldn't let her eat all of them over the weekend or she would have been sick! She had a good try though mind (obviously takes after me in some ways )

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 09:55

i have a whole egg left

EllieG · 25/03/2008 09:57

I only got one egg and we ate it on firday night

Right, must go get dressed and do some hoovering now. The life of a slummy mummy beckons......have a feeling it's not going to be quite this laid back in a few weeks though...

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 09:58

Does anyone know anything about donating the umbilical cord?

vacaloca · 25/03/2008 09:58

Morning everyone! Just read the last couple of pages to catch up and it looks like some exciting stuff is going on. Good luck to all those with contractions - very jealous! I'm 39 weeks today and I'm sort of expecting it'll happen some time towards the end of next week (judging by the timing of my last two pregnancies). I had quite a lot of BH this weekend, some certainly getting more uncomfortable. I filled in the pool on Sunday night and watched a film while waddling in it - it was bliss! Shame it then took hours to empty it, I don't think we can do that every evening .

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 09:59

Molly - its certain hospitalsi in London that do the scheme. Google Virgin cord blood bank. I would if i could, deffo.

Denny185 · 25/03/2008 10:00

Scorpio sounds like youll have to get your orders in now, sounds like the next few days might be taken.

Spoke to friend in the states last night, shes off to new york next week and pointed out at end of phone call that next time we speak I will have 3 , think Im still trying to ignore that its coming although it would be nice to bend again.

Were off to meet some friends at local playcentre in a bit - going for the lazy parenting approach of let the kids wear themselves out with just supervision from me

Catch up again later

Sheds75 · 25/03/2008 10:17

Morning all, haven't been on for a while hope everyone is doing well. Seem we may have a few LO's very soon, wish I was getting mine now, am soooooooo uncomfy , am 38+6 today. will go back and catch up on the news now!

goodluck TMP, sounds promising

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 10:30

Virgin costs £1500 to store your own blood cells from the umbilical cord so thaht you can access them if you need them in the future (or oethrs in the scheme if your won doesn't work). Do you know of any way of simply donating the blood from the umbilical cord so that someone in need gets it?

eva07 · 25/03/2008 10:38

I just read 11 pages - took me well over an hour to catch up with you my parents were here last week, was very nice to have my mum around, but no time for MN

knitter - congrats, hope you and george are both well!

scorpio, so sorry about your nan I know how you feel, my family is very prone to cancer.

on all the almost births, hope you lot are well, fingers crossed for you and your babies.

elli: I would love to meet with you in RL. But I guess you would have to do most of the talking as I'm always searching for the right words (and grammar)

have a nice day all!

bunnyrabbit · 25/03/2008 11:19

My you lot can talk!! No way I have time to catch up, just skimmed through.

Congrats Knitter!! V. jealous. Give George a cuddle from us.

Scorpio, sorry to hear about your Nan

Been ill all weekend as has DH and now DS. Turned into a good old fashioned coughing my guts up chest infection now. Oh joy.

Does anyone know if this will stop me having the baby at home if I go into labour? I can't really breath properly and am a bit concerned that they may not let me stay at home.

What a crappy way to spend my last few weeks of pregnancy, and my nicely planned two weeks of maternity leave with DS.

Whinge

BR

Peachy · 25/03/2008 11:25

Well, am 39+2 today and feeling shattered, nauseous, and completely lacking in energy. After several hours of contractions the other day got nowhere so am officially Giving Up for the next few days.

Have to put buggy together today, and finally work out whether DH is going to retrieve buried carseat or I have to buy another (won't be impressed, he knows where it is, it's in A1 condition but he can't be arsed- carseat needs to be ready if baby comes in case he needs to go into hospital for checks after).

Scampmum · 25/03/2008 11:43

I love House, too. I've even snogged someone from it (smug emoticon) in the old, single days.

How exciting, TMP - good luck, everyone! VS, hope you feel better.

DD is 23 months and very much likes wearing any 'plitty dleeeeeesss' and will shriek for them. Will also take violently against certain items on a whim, although doesn't have anything that she really won't wear on a sustained basis.

Had a real burst of activity this morning but have since been sitting on my bum since 9.30. Where does the time go??

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 11:55

Where does the time go indeed. I'm suddenly knackered and have done nothing all morning and I have a Doc's appointment in an hour. I'm also looking into nurseries/creches as apparently in London you have to apply for them as soon as the baby is born

goodcatholicgirl · 25/03/2008 12:01

Hi Denny185, don't worry, kanagaandroo does NOT know my baby name, she thinks she does cos all I said was what it MEANT and she said they had same name for a bit, but it's fairly uncommon so I don't think it is the same name. It's all still a big secret!!!

Re in laws OMG, you'll never guess what MIL said yesterday to DH's sister, in front of her 14 year old daughter......." well I think you should give L*** the child benefit money you get for her each week for her to spend on what she wants".
SIL was FUMING!!!! She replied "oh, you do do you!!!! Do you want to see my weekly budget and food bills for a family of 6??!!"
So it's not just me who gets the wrath of MIL from hell....... Shit stirrer....

Talk soon XX

Scampmum · 25/03/2008 12:12

Molly, yes, that's true, I started looking at 12 weeks pg (...and they did think I was a loony). Eventually put her name down for her current place (hummed and haaed over others as had to pay but didn't like them) at a week old (sobbed the whole way through the visit!) and got a place when she was 5.5 months which I had to take as they said there might not be another one for 3/4 months. She was full-time, though - part-time places should be easier.

I would do it before the baby arrives if you can. My advice would be drop in rather than making an appointment (this will annoy them but better IMHO as they have no time to prepare), ask about staff turnover, look at engagement levels and read the safety etc. manuals and all literature they have available. Have quite a chat with the baby room girls (/boys...?) if you can. Ours are absolutely lovely but a lot of the ones we saw seemed less than interested and just kind of poked the babies on bouncy chairs. See as many nurseries as you can as there is a massive variety, and my limited experience would suggest you should avoid big chain ones (esp. private-equity owned!) but that's inferred from a relatively small sample size. When are you planning to go back and for how many days a week?

Mollyfloss · 25/03/2008 12:30

Thanks for the advice Scampmum, it is much needed! I really have to have a few application forms filled in and ready to go as soon as she is born then! I work in music so a lot is from home and I have to travel to Paris from time to time although I should be able to take the baby with me which is great. So we'll be looking for a part-time nursery 2 to 3 days a week. I also don't know from when, could be from 6 months or depending on everything it could be as late as 2 years so it's really difficult to know. I think in any case it would be good for her to mix with other kids for a couple of days a week from early on. Do the basically stay at nursery until primary school? Is it true that the nursery they go to could have an effect on them getting into a good primary school. Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to get my head around all this. It was so different growing up in Ireland!

PortAndLemon · 25/03/2008 12:31

At DS's nursery (generally considered to be the best one in our area) you'd have needed to apply in September 2007 if you wanted an April 2008 baby to start at 6 months.

Even given that DS is there already and we're not planning for DD to start until January 2009 we had the form and registration in in December last year.

Some of the other good local nurseries you don't need to act quite so quickly, but still generally before the baby arrives, although there are some (not so well regarded) you can get them into later on.

It will vary bu area, though...

scorpio1 · 25/03/2008 12:34

I saw my friends 4 day old baby today - she had him at home before the MW got there!!!
