Molly, meant to say, sorry about your dad.

Molly, meant to say, sorry about your dad.

VS: I was just thinking about all those niggles and twinges. I've had some pains which kind of feels like constipation but it also hurts in the belly and not just behind iyswim. Sorry if tmi . Anyway I also get little period type pains from time to time which I've been told are normal and can be false labour pains. Still for all I know I could already be in labour. I've known ladies who've gone for their check-up only to be told they are having contractions, are dialated and are not going home as baby is due to come very soon! Think I'll have a read of the 'am I aren't in labour thread'

Mollyfloss · 22/03/2008 18:53

Thanks SuzeM.

Peachy · 22/03/2008 19:32

Sorry to hear about all the lost aprents on here- I am very lucky to have ine I know, and its why I try and get DH to keep in touch with his Mum (though those who know his Mum's history will know its far more complex that that).

My Mum suffered depresssion all through my childhood and Dad drank, but I am really luckya s they are bioth well now and can make up for it a bit with Grandkids which is a huge boon.

VS: care unit I used to work in brought in extra staff for full moons, we had to- has a amrked effect on Sn people. Dh ahd to do an extra sweep of ds1's room actuallya s it was a full moon, found the syringe he uses for refilling printer cartridges 9and kept on top of kitchen units so very high) filled with a mix of clary sage, washing up liquid and pineapple juice- imagine if ds3 had found it !

chipmonkey · 22/03/2008 21:24

I used to work in a city centre practice and really some of the patients used to behave very oddly at full mooon time! Not so obvious now I've moved out to the suburbs, not sure why!
Have to say, I'm always the one who has to buy dh's Mothers Day card for him as his relationship with her is strained and he has very little affection for her. Not mad about her myself but I feel duty-bound to do the right thing on her birthday and mothers' day especially as I have no daughters myself and am hoping my DILs will take pity on me one day!
My own Dad died 5 years ago and it does make me sad that he didn't get to meet ds3 or now ds4. But I do think he watches over us.

Scampmum · 22/03/2008 21:25

Scorpio - so sorry about your Nan. It's probably scant solace but it's best that she died in her sleep and not in pain. My grandma died of pancreatic cancer too and it was pretty quick, I was so gutted at the time but in retrospect was glad that she hadn't been in too much pain.

Rainbowdays - what a headf*ck (excuse my french)!

We have been seriously nesting. DH has been amazing, did massive deep clean of the kitchen until midnight last night (and he's here now i.e. not in the pub!). So excited about having everything tidy and ready. Mobility still compromised but am managing a bit more as it seems like less time to get through now without permanently crippling myself if that makes sense.

Scampmum · 22/03/2008 21:32

Oh, and congratulations Knitter! Excellent news. Hope you are recovering OK.

Molly, I didn't get my periods back until 2 months after stopping bf (so 11 months after DD) and then my cycle was 35-45 days so took us three months of trying for this one rather than the five minutes it took for DD! BUT you will probably find out if your period comes back before then so you can plan accordingly. You may also experience some second thoughts starting trying at 6 months when you have a 6 month old... !

Do you guys want to do a London meetup at some point? I am quite nervous about real life meeting but, y'know, how horrible can you be ?

PortAndLemon · 23/03/2008 00:15

I can be pretty horrible if I put my mind to it . But a meetup sounds like a good plan (although, y'know, if Mollyfloss is going to go around being a size 10 ten weeks after the birth, then maybe I'll turn up in a burqa or something).

chipmonkey · 23/03/2008 00:50

Don't worry about Molly, PAL. It always takes me years to get my baby weight off so just stand next to me and you'll look nice and skinny!

Mollyfloss · 23/03/2008 09:40

PAL: LOL. At the rate I'm going size 10 is looking more and more like a distant dream, sigh... (as she bites into her Easter egg that DH gave her). What's all this crap anyway about weight gain slowing in the last few weeks? and someone please tell me that my sweet tooth will disappear as soon as the baby pops out! Oh well, that's in 3 weeks and it will be too late by then anyway. I'm already a whale. I feel sorry for my cousin and that dress but it's not my fault, it's pg hormones. Pass me some more chocolate... yum

Why not for the London meet-up? is this for after or before babies are born?

Denny185 · 23/03/2008 09:56

Morning, molly at starting on the eggs already this time of the morning, we cant let you do it alone, now pass them around. Unfortunately yes outlaws r next to useless and seem to loose all ability to put kettle on and make a round of brews when they stay here - even with new baby in the house, give them their dues though they will hold the baby while I make them

Had a crap nights sleep, lots of lower abdo pains that kept triggering BHs, I thought the full moon may have had its way but no still intact this am - just a grumpy mummy. Were off to the farm this am and then mum cooking dinner this pm and plan on doing no housework today - yeah

Mollyfloss · 23/03/2008 10:08

Here's some choc egg Denny. it's got loads of chocolates inside too so dig in.

Well at least your IL's hold the baby while you make the tea

I've warned my DH that anyone staying is to be told in no uncertain terms to serve themselves to anything in the kitchen. It is being polite that they might not as they are very helpful in general.

Have fun at the farm. Sounds like you are going to have a lovely day. It was snowing here a few mins ago but not sticking. If we find enough energy we might go to the cinema.

Denny185 · 23/03/2008 10:28

Thanks for the egg, yum,

I think id rather be sitting in a warm cinema than getting cold and wet on the farm - still the kids like it and gets rid of some energy which is the main thing.

Did anyone have the 'severe weather warning' snow they were predicting or was it another damp squib?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 23/03/2008 10:34

Well it is still snowing here in good old Orpington - although nothing is really sticking. DH is painting our bedroom at the moment - I thank goodness for him - he is the one with all the nesting urges - I have none! Caught him cleaning the skirting boards yesterday! lol

Oh - HAPPY EASTER everyone! Hope the Easter bunny was good to you today!

northeastmummy · 23/03/2008 12:03

Oh Scorpio - I was catching up on the thread and it sounded like everything was going so well with your Nan. I'm so sorry for your loss, especially with the timing of it. I hope you're ok.

We have snow (not surprising really given how far north I am) but it's not sticking either. In fact one minute it's snowing, then it's raining, then it's sunny - just can't make its mind up at all.

honeybee10 · 23/03/2008 12:19

we woke up to snow( in the north west) at 6:30 by 2 extremely excited kids bouncing on the bed saying 'its snowed!!!' 20 times down my ear!!! (muffled groan!!)
Luckily dh got up to supervise coats and wellies etc and they played in the garden for all of 10 min before announcing it was far too cold to play out! Lucky they did play then cos the snow has all gone now. Don't get snow like we used to eh? Up to your knees!
I got breakfast in bed this am bacon and scrambled egg sarnies yum! sorry to boast!!!

ThePFJ · 23/03/2008 12:52

Hugs to Scorpio and Molly.

My friends have left now, its been a good weekend so far though. Last night they insisted on putting the Rocky Horror Picture Show on for old times sake and singing along.

VS your moon theory completely explains why I have had such strong twinges and mini contractions the last 3 days. Thanks for that.

Off to make some late breakfast now.
Happy Easter all.

northeastmummy · 23/03/2008 13:26

Mmmmmmmm - bacon and scrambled egg sarnies! My DH would NEVER do that for me in a million years .

I had a revelation today (apologies in advance at could be a bit TMI!). With all the talk of babies coming, I thought I'd have a feel for my cervix just out of nosiness - and its completely disappeared . I don't know when it went because I haven't looked for it for a while. Anyway, I think this is a good thing as it means baby isn't imminent right? I'm not in any hurry!!

ThePFJ · 23/03/2008 14:56

I think my little one to be has moved down even further the last couple of days. I can't wait to see the MW on the 31st and see how far engaged he is. It's a shame I can't see her before then, but its because of the Easter weekend.

Mollyfloss · 23/03/2008 16:33

I think mine might have moved down again a bit but am not sure. She's already gone from 4/5 to 1/5 back to 3/5 so anything is possible... It is quite cold in London but was glad just to get out for a walk and blow the cobwebs off. Didn't make it to the cinema but think we will veg in front of downloaded episodes of Dirt.

VictorianPASqualor · 23/03/2008 18:03

Ugh, I feel so terrible.

DP drove 40 odd miles to the x-outlaws this morning for a kids party and whilst we were there we met up with my best mate for lunch, ate half of it thought I was going to collapse and threw it all up in the carpark
Went back to her house to get easter eggs n stuff and spent 10 mins with my head down the loo, on the drive back my vision was awful and now I have a headache and am starving but daren't eat

Considering calling midwife because of the vision thingy but feel a bit of a prat if it's just a tummy bug!

Mollyfloss · 23/03/2008 18:39

Oh VS, that sounds awful. I heard that sometimes nausea can be a sign of oncoming labour or else you have caught an ugly stomach bug... might be better to call your MW anyway.. that's what she's there for

scorpio1 · 23/03/2008 18:42

God i cannot wait for some peace tomorrow afternoon. Feel like shit today

VictorianPASqualor · 23/03/2008 18:57

Well, I'm going to leave it for now and see if it is any different tomorrow, normally vomiting bugs ease after 24 hours don't they so if it hasn't eased by tomorrow I'll call her out.

What's up Scorpio??
xx
