Thread title reflects the fact that every day that passes it dawns on me a bit more

OP posts:

monkey - that is fantastic news, can't believe your LO has had an op and he's not even born, it's amazing. Do you just have extra monitoring now until he is born?

hatrick - see this one is a boy causing trouble already

minkus - I definitely feel a bit more dizzy when pregnant especially when I get up too fast

Oh I'm another one with a rubbish diet, I take a pregnancy mutivit and come calcium liquid as I don't eat much dairy either but I only take a half dose every day IYSWIM. I'm veggie and with my hectic days and crap diet I want to make sure I get enough of what LO needs especially iron. Never did the other two any harm, I was sure DD1 would come out as a giant Creme Egg I ate so many.

News about premmies is so scary how unprepared must you be nevermind for all thats to come. We all dream of bringing out newborn home straight away but imagine spending months visiting them in SCBU and watching them fight off everything they have to fight off. Doesn't bear thinking about does it?

Next milestone for me is 28 weeks, 90% survival rate and it just seems to be better than 24 weeks if that makes any sense?

Mummywannabe · 31/03/2008 21:25

Monkey - thats amazing. I glad all is looking brighter for you.

Re Diets: mine has been bit hit and miss, haven't taken pronatal vitamin for a few weeks (ooppss). Been eating lots of magnums .

Hatrick - glad your little one decided to behave and move for you. Saw your post but then boss appeared and sat on my shoulder all afternoon, hence no mumsnetting!

Minkus - dizzyness, i had a few bad nights of this, midwife checked my iron levels as this can cause it, also suggested i drink more fluid. She also suggested i should eat more and more reguarly, but that was linked to keitones in urine as well as dizzyness. Worth getting it checked out in case blood pressure plays a part in it.

libralady · 31/03/2008 21:31

Minkus

Could be something called Labrynthitis (sp?)

I had this just before Christmas and it scared the s**t out of me. Went to the Dr and described my symptoms - well being dizzy really with sickness (couldn't determine if the sickness was just morning - sorry all day sickness iyswim) and she diagnosed labrynthitis. Apparently it's an infection deep inside your ear but not one that is cured by antibiotics - wierd. She gave me some medication to help control the sickness (which was the 2nd most prescribed one for morning sickness anyway).

Still take the occasional tablet now as I can tell when I am about to get an episode. This can last for week, months or even years if it goes undetected. Apparently it's similar to Meniere's Diseases if you wish to google, but I apologise in advance if my spelling is up the swannie or if I am misdiagnosing. I'm not qualified ha ha.

It may give you a few pointers though. HTH.

libralady · 31/03/2008 21:33

Sorry I meant to add my congratulations to Monkey. Glad everything seems to be working out well for you. Keep in Touch.

mummypig · 31/03/2008 22:06

hi minkus my mum had labrynthitis and for a while they thought it was her blood pressure so it might be worth flagging it up with a gp? You might have to emphasise that it doesn't feel like normal pg dizzyness though if your gp is the type to dismiss people's concerns.

monkey very pleased to hear your news and really impressed at a shunt for a baby that's not yet born. anyway hopefully this one will not be any trouble at all once he's out.

sweetkitty and rumpel i am growing my own veg too, although so far have only planted some garlic outside and some herbs inside. I have carrot seeds, chilli seeds, tomato seeds, salad, more herbs and climbing french beans waiting to go when I feel more confident about the weather. Plus some seed potatoes chitting in our cold spare room. We do have a problem with snails in our garden, and also had slugs coming in through the cat flap last year. It's disgusting seeing the trails in the morning, isn't it? But dp has boarded up the hole (as we don't have a flap) and I have put copper tape down around the door frame. I have loads of copper 'collars' for my beans and tomato plants and last year the combination of those and a large amount of broken shells on the ground around the tomato plants seemed to keep the snails at bay for most of the summer.

Anyway I stayed up far too late last night and was grumpy with the boys today, so should make a (relatively) early night of it now.

Kaz1967 · 31/03/2008 22:37

Minkus I have replied I get days like this too thankfully not for a few weeks but it is most unpleasant

RUMPEL Will probably stay back to back because of where my placenta is, thankfully apparently because they prefer my left this should not be too much of a problem and the chances are once labour starts they will go the right way but joy of joy back to back for beginning of labour good job I am used to back pain I have been told that if it was the other way round (baby right placenta left) things could be more difficult.

carrieHD9 Just do your best with eating try little and often if you can rather than big meals baby will be fine it's your body which will suffer if you are lacking anything. Are you taking a pregnancy multi vit rather than just folic? if not it may be worth considering. Make sure you see your dentist regually (Mum had no fillings until she had me ) try to eat/drink foods containing calcium too to protect your teeth and bones.

TJuice · 31/03/2008 23:16

quick hi to everyone.

i got back from two weeks away, one in london with my parents, one in lisbon with just my mum who drove me nuts (she is lovely, must have been my hormones).

the amount of stuff i brought back here was ridiculous! luckily sterling airlines have relaxed their baggage rules as I brought back three humungous suitcases and my mamas and papas pliko pramette (still boxed up). two of the suitcases contained baby stuff, including untold clothes from my mum, a starlight swing-thing, blankets, nappies, wipes (you can get them here obviously but they are a bit spenny and my mum went to makro), a packed first aid kit (we have never bothered before but this one contains things like "gripe water" and calpol and various thermometers and things) and just loads of weird baby paraphenalia that i have never heard of and probably won't need.

must go and catch up on the thread - lots of interesting convos on sex and diet, i see!

hope everyone is doing okay.

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 00:06

Put a pic of the enormous lump that is Rocky and my new hair on my profile.

Minkus · 01/04/2008 11:01

Morning all

Ha ha Kaz at caling bump Rocky! It looks a lovely taut bump mine is just floppy aaargh. Still not calling ours anything other than Baby at the moment. Like your hair too, what was it like before?

Tjuice how exciting to have brought all that home with you! You're gonna be having so much fun over the next weeks playing with it all. (as well as the time honoured mum to be tradition of washing everything, deciding how you'd like it to be folded after trying 15 different methods of folding a sleepsuit, putting it away v neatly worthy of a White Company display team, then starting the whole process again a week later because it doesn't smell "freshly laundered" any more )

Thanks everyone for empathy about dizziness, it's a lot better today but is still there. I have googled labyrnthitis and if it doesn't get better by tomorrow will book an appointment with GP. Couldn't even drive to pick ds up from nursery yesterday as I was worried about feeling so disorientated whilst in charge of a car- my lovely MIL had to step in, bless her.

Off to continue the decluttering that's necessary after dh's marathon decorating at the weekend, feels really good to get rid of so much junk!

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 11:23

It's best mate that started calling the lump Rocky I was having BH at the time so it was more solid than normal plus it is covered in tubigrip which holds it together without it it is not as pretty a site LOL

Fell sorry for you if it is labyrnthitis it is not pleasant I had it twice it was like being drunk without the pleasure of drinking. Both times mine came on really suddenly, Mine was not viral I ended up on antibiotics.

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 11:26

Oh and before my hair was a mess had it cut end of Jan and it was growing like a weed and so think, Also had not coloured it since October had been going to cover it before Christmas but then discovered I was pregnant and decided to leave it.

Minkus · 01/04/2008 12:06

Ah yes your lovely sexy tubigrip . With you the hair thing- I had mine done last week for 1st time since September and it was in such poor condition I had to have loaaads chopped off! Now I don't like it much, but I know I had to sacrifice it for the greater good...

OP posts:
TJuice · 01/04/2008 12:34

that is so funny! i thought it was just me who was obsessively washing brand new baby clothes!

in fact, washing everything . . . everything

sweetkitty · 01/04/2008 14:43

Afternoon ladies had a migraine last night which continued into the morning, gave in and took some Migraleve, I have taken them the last twice as well, only paracetamol and codeine so I figure they are OK plus MW with DD1 said they would probably be fine. Paracetamol do nothing and I can't be that ill with the DDs about. Anyway feeling much better now. Think I am dehydrated as well, don't drink nearly as much as I should do and have felt thirsty all day.

minkus - dizzyness sounds awful hopefully it will pass, the things we go through.

Rumpel/mummypig - I don't grow any veg because of the slugs and snails. I can plant flowers and thats about it. The though of a slug coming in the house terrifies me I would have to leave until DP came home - seriously. I am totally fine with spiders and other creepy crawlies though they don't bother me and I studied zoology for a bit at uni so have dissected all sorts so not squeamish but I even had to miss the molluscs lectures as I can't stand even looking at a picture of a slug. I'm feeling funny writing this going to stop now......

Let's get back to the baby talk

Tjuice - welcome back we missed you, bet you are so excited buying all that lot I was everything for the baby as well (still do a lot of the DDs things too) before they wear them). Do you do the thing of just sitting looking at the clothes imagining someone in them? I used to all the time with DD1's, I would take them out unfold them, look at them, then fold them away again. It's great!

Minkus - just realised you wrote the same thing as me about the folding oh PFB time. DD3 will be lucky if she has a clean babygro. I remember I used to IRON everything as well, even bibs. Oh and the blankets and sheets are stacked like a display as well

Kaz - your hair looks fab and so does your bump.

minipinkscottish · 01/04/2008 16:36

Sorry you've been feeling unwell Kitty - hope it's a bit better now.

Nice bump and hair Kaz

Dreams - had a weird one last night!

I dreamt I was in bed using a breast pump but without a bottle attached - the milk was going everywhere - and there was loads of it, it was literally flowing all over the bed and onto the floor - I could hear it splashing in pools on the floor - Weird

In the morning my boobs were very achy and I had been leaking a bit more than I have been!! What does it mean?

sweetkitty · 01/04/2008 17:03

minipink - probably means you are thinking about BFing a LO again. I have had a dream about BFing a little boy. Won't come true unless this one grows some extra parts and I wouldn't like to be the one to tell DD1

Feeling much better thanks Migraleve seems to work for me.

Right off to make dinner.

EEC · 01/04/2008 17:18

Glad you're feeling better KITTY.

Soo pleased for you MONKEY. It's completely amazing what they can do.

I dreamt I had 12 babies last night. I kept forgetting how many I had and which ones I had fed already, and occasionally losing some of them! Must mean something!

Nice hair Kaz. Yeah for the bump!

JODIEhavingababy · 01/04/2008 17:23

Glad your feeling better Sweetkitty,

Nice bump Kaz! Nice tio know we're all growing nicely! And lovely hair. I must do something about mine!

Monkey - glad your feeling better the relief must be over whelming!

Last night I dreamt that DS was sleeping with us and he wouldn't stop bleeding and we couldn't work out where it was coming from and we were all dripping with it!!! wierd

minipinkscottish · 01/04/2008 18:14

Glad I'm not the only one having strange dreams then

JODIEhavingababy · 01/04/2008 20:05

minipink no, but I really wish I could have a nice saucy one about someone delicious (last time it was Kevin Spacey amd a number of different ex boyfriends, but not at the same time!!! ) and not horrible vivid dreams about horrible things

sweetkitty · 01/04/2008 21:17

Don't believe I am going to ask this to a bunch of strangers on the internet but has anyone had a dream thats been so erm saucy that "something" has actually woke them up IYSWIM only happened to me once or twice before and never whilst pregnant as my sex drive goes away the minute that second line appears!

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 21:41

Errr yep it was quite fun emm doing it while both still half asleep could easily happen now if there was a man in my life being pregnant has increased my sex drive worse and it needed no help before

sweetkitty · 01/04/2008 21:43

kaz - it was nothing to do with DP, I woke up because I was erm how can I put this having an orgasm most disturbing I can tell you.

Kaz1967 · 01/04/2008 21:53

Well I woke him up was most insistent apparently I half remember the dream I was having even now think we all have these odd things happen from time to time it's what makes us human

pigleychez · 01/04/2008 22:05

Hi everyone,

Monkey- So glad everything is ok now. Amazing what they can do now even before baby is born!

Nice pics Kaz

No odd dreams for me and def none of "thoose" dreams sweetkitty

Just returned from a meal out with the girls from work. Was fun although the odd bit of "work" chat did creep into conversation every now and again. Knackered now though as went straight from work at 6 and only just got it.

Quick question- Anyone else with itchy boobs esp Nipples. They itch like crazy and its pretty difficult trying to scratch them discreetly with out looking like a weirdo!
Bought some Lanolish cream and will try that tonight, see if it helps.
