Hello all
Sweetkitty thanks for the pelvic girdle pain link a few pages back - was really helpful - although despairing of the 'rest regularly, move little and often 'etc until I finish work!
I woke up with sore throat and no voice last Thurs - could've struggled into work but phoned in sick instead (have had so many sick days this pregnancy!!) and although felt like such a skiver, it was lovely - dh was home, dd went to grandma's, and we sat in the sun.
HAve been out in the garden planting raspberries and strawberries, planning salad, tomatoes and courgettes later on...
Jodie, I've got a cough and have the same feeling - with every cough, that evrything is just all going to fall out...
Actually, was going to ask others who are having their second or subsequent baby - is it normal to feel that your 'undercarriage' is falling out most of the time?? Prob TMI, but mine feels and I think actually looks, much bigger and kind of..out IYSWIM...not all neatly tucked away like used to be - almost swollen and sore - OMG I sound like a right freak now! Quick someone tell me it's OK
I sound like a baboon on heat....
OK please come and change the subject now!!

sweetkitty · 30/03/2008 22:50

purplejennyrose - no I think it's quite common I remember thinking the same thing last time with DD2. With DD1 I had no twinges nothing, with DD2 it felt like my fanjo was at my knees especially towards the end the pressure was unreal. Even now if I'm sitting on the floor changing a nappy my erm fanjo hurts kind of a stretched feeling. Between that and I think I have piles my nether regions feel gruesome right now.

rumpel i to am growing all my own salad and veg organic of course
had a busy day puttin in the raised beds for the cabbages and beans today, greenhouse great for tomatoes i reckon im growing every variety this year.............
i know i said i was bored in evenings well maybe bored isnt the right word, restless sighing might be a better description.
i had to laugh about the aggie comment,no i im afraid i dont need their help im somewhat of a clean freak,i used to have a cleaner till not long ago i think i may call her back
ive been thinking about it today i reckon i do to much my mind is constantly buzing with things i have to do i cant seem to switch off.
therefore restless in evenings, always thinkin of what needs to be done tomorrow
like yesterday it rained allday i said to my DH no way can i stay in allday what am i supposed to do i cant sit still for long im always doin something.i usually sit down for about 30 mins in the entire day from the time i get up to bedtime.
going to try to get some sleep tonight as DH away tomorrow and i dont go to bed till 4am when hes away, its since ive moved into this house, its to big to spaced out.
enough of me rambling tomorrows another day

purplejennyrose · 30/03/2008 22:56

Oh thank you! It's not just me!! And don't mention piles..!!

I too developed the one-handed method of feeding during b'feeding - must start laying in supplies of novels! And films for the evening cluster feeds..

purplejennyrose · 30/03/2008 22:58

I meant the one-handed method of reading of course

sweetkitty · 30/03/2008 23:02

PJR - between that and the SPD/SI/pain in the ass pain, there is no way I can even think about sex either.

hatrick - I think they do it just to freak us out, stop moving for a bit, wait until you go to bed at night usually they start up just as you are falling asleep.

disney - I am like you I don't actually sit down much either, doesn't help with the aforementioned SPD etc pain though, I cannot just watch TV I have to be watching TV whilst doing something, also I cannot be settled if the house is messy. Wish I could chill more.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 30/03/2008 23:03

hatrick eat choclate - not joking i do it to waken this one and sure enough 20-30 mins and it goes hyper

disneystar · 30/03/2008 23:08

kaz maybe its a little to early to worry about the position the baby is lying in but my LO has signs that it has craniosynostosis,
so my doula has reccomended i try to get him in a good position early or i think she is trying to get me to use this birthing ball she gave me for practise like...........
we knew there was chance this would happen but other than that hes all fine
i think the doula,s aim is to get me thinking positive now and feeling good about the whole birth thing,as ive had a traumatic birth before
and also to focus better.
well thats my theory anyway.
also is anyone having a 4d scan as i would like one but whens the best time to have one done?

disney - I had a 4D scan with DD2 think the best time is about 28-32 weeks when they are big enough to look like babies but not too big IYSWIM.

Minkus · 30/03/2008 23:29

I'm v that some of you can interpret where your baby is lying, I wouldn't have a clue what position mine is in! Although I've been getting the "limb under ribs" sensation too whic is v uncomfortable.

My dreams have gone from being rude to being scary- have had nightmares every night for about a week now and I remember getting them first time round too now. Normally of the "its the end of the world and only me, dh and ds survive along with a handful of baddies who are trying to do us in" sort of storyline. I have to send dh off to raid shops to find Ray Mears style survival equipment and fishing rods, rabbit traps etc so we can survive- anyone read The Stand by Stephen King? Well it's like that . But every night (occasional werewolf dreams too) and they are getting right on my very big and sensitive t*ts! Sure my subconscious is going into overdrive thinking of ways that I can protect my little family from too much change (ie the new baby) and that's what's causing the bad dreams. Hence I'm not in bed yet, guessed that if I completely knacker myself I'll be in too deep a sleep to dream. Plus Dh needs his ass whupped on Gran Turismo 5

hatrick has that bunny 'Kicked in' yet?

Kaz1967 · 31/03/2008 00:53

Minkus My little one can only lie back to back really because of where my placenta is they also prefer the left because my placenta is top front right. I have also been feeling them move since I was about 12 weeks for sure so maybe I have got used to it plus felt them kick just before both scans. Think my fibroids make some parts more sensitive. I know I am going along the right track because I told the midwife where to find the little horror because she was having trouble as I was having BH and the did not initially realise I had an anterior placenta and thought it was trouble.

Hatrick chocolate drives this one nuts too ice cold water normally makes them wiggle too. I ate the cream eggs I bought for friends kids before Easter because trouble insisted I then had over 3 hours of constant activity trouble was it started at 11pm and kept me awake.

Just taken off mym sexy support and god I itch just noticed all the stretch marks on my tummy they have multiplied100 fold

carrieHD9 · 31/03/2008 07:36

Morning all, hope everyone's okay. Kaz, my stretch marks multiplying also- they're like one of those speeded up films of flowers opening- you look away for a sec and have SPREAD!

Can anyone reassure me about less than perfect pregancy diet? Trying my best but not much appetite- definately eating enough food but not the best food by a long shot! pregancy books depressing me- all say 'baby is growing X bit this week so make sure you eat X'- feel have condemmed baby to dullard brain by abject failure to stuff myself with spinach and mackerel etc.. don't think cream donuts and flapjack and lemon curd on toast and pizza have the same vitamin properties- but that's the kind of thing I can stomach. Any reassuring tales of children who have grown up fine despite not eating marvellously in pregnancy much appreciated!

JODIEhavingababy · 31/03/2008 08:51

Morning all.

Hope you are all well, it seems we are all abot cheerier this weekend, do you think it has something to do with the fact the weather is getting better???

CarrieHD9 My diet is absolutaly awful I do try and eat fruit and veg, but not nearly enough of it.. I always make sure I either have a bowl of cereal or some Marmite on toast in the morning for the Vit B, but as for the rest of the day it all goes to pot!

Hatrick I think I can pretty much hazard a guess as to which way LO is lying, but not always which way up if that makes sense? Yesterday he was lying accoss just under my Belly Button Very very uncomfortable DS was so lazt he never moved position until labour and then he twisted and turned so many times that 1st stage was long (over 2 days) and when he was born the cord was round his neck was OK though! This one never stops moving, maybe it's because he's got more room???

Disney I 'wind down' in the evenings with a book, or a bath, or both! I go to Aqua one night and anti natal Yoga another, they seem to relax me enough to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.....

Libra1975 · 31/03/2008 09:56

rumpel, oh we only moved into our house last Dec so am busy planning the garden (before I get too big/lazy). I think this year I am just going to do a herb garden and plant some apple tress and next year will think about vegtables but my mum grows her own tomatoes and they are just so tasty.

I am another one who thinks it's too early to be doing exercises to get the baby in the right position, from what it feels like the baby seems to spend most
of the day doing cartwheels in there anyway!

Never bored in the evenings since my Sky+ has been repaired as I spend it watching everything that is now on too late for me to stay up and watch (i.e. everything on after 9pm!)

I post on another board for July mothers and one of them has already had her dear little one who is still fighting. I keep giving my LO lectures on how it's too early to come out and say hello and it has to stay put for at least another 12 weeks!

carrieHD9 - less than perfect pregnancy diet - I had (am having) Green and Blacks milk chocolate with butterscotch for breakfast. good for erm, calcium? The only thing I do is ensure I get my 5 fruit/veg a day and take a pregnancy vit, other than that it's open season on Tesco.

Spent the weekend putting up our nursery furniture which we bought in Ikea, I think we may have over-specd a little and I don't think there is going to be enough room in the room!
Hope everyone else had good weekends.

RUMPEL · 31/03/2008 11:42

Hi All,

It is a beautiful suny day here

CARRIE - my DD is mostly made from cake, avocados and diet coke (only thing to settle my tum in the first 4 months) and she is perfect [preen] so don't worry. Women need loads of carbs when pg to give energy and lay down fat - easy to digest too. I make sure I take a pronatal vit/mieral every day and omega 3, 6 and 9 (essential fatty acids - very important for brain/nerve/joint/skin development). You can get them from eating avocados, nuts (not peanuts)and oily fish though.

DISNEY - does that mean you Lo's head is pushed against your womb so doesn't develop normal shape? Like some people's LO's have no hand/foot sometimes because of this? If you find you can't switch your brain off (most women can't and you need to learn how to do it) try giving yourself a foot massage very night. Even better get your Dh to do it for you and try some reflexology. It is great for 'grounding' your energy and stopping your head buzzing (amongst other things). My SIL goes to a place in Markinch I think - you are in Kirkaldy? I used to be like that - fidgety etc but being pg has made me sit down and rest as feel too awful to do much anyway! Taught me to relax and chill out. I find I am constantly cleaning and I only have 1 Dc so far!

SWEETKITTY - my old house the lsugs used to come in the cat flap to eat the cat food (the bowls were near the door) and I used to pick em up and put em out ( I try not to kill anything apart form wasps 'cos I am terrified and earwigs and midges). It takes AGES to get the slime off your hands though! We have literally thousands of spiders here, where the greenhouse is going to be. I never noticed but my Mum pointed out that when you look down at the gravel in that area it looks like the gorund is mving 'cos hundreds of spiders are fleeing form your feet! just as long as they don't crawl on me

PURPLEJENNY - apparently the blood supply to your nether regions increases massively when you are pg so it causes your outer bits to puff up and show more - some women have orgasms just with their trousers rubbing! So perfectly normal. I too feel that it has got more obvious with further pg. No piles though - thank goodness!

KAZ will your LO be able to move before you go into labour or is he/she going to be a back-to-back delivery?

Must go try to do some work on essay - take care all.xxx

Squarah · 31/03/2008 13:58

SWEETKITTY and KAZ1967 - thank you for the joints advice and link

RUMPEL - I'll be borrowing a friend's gym ball soon - can't face buying something else right now

MUMMYPIG - thanks so much for the book link - it looks lovely.

Well I've just returned from a hen weekend and had a great time. The bump and boobs got oodles of attention and the ridiculous saturday night dancing seems to have soothed my aching joints which is barmy! So I'm feeling great other than tired from the clocks moving forward!

I just can't believe how big my boobs are getting. I started off as a small 34B then 36C and now they're even bigger and I'm not even 24 weeks yet!

No crazy cravings really but certainly indulging in chocolate make up for the wine calories I've been missing!

Went to my first aquanatal class last week - just when I thought I couldn't get any more ungainly... Fun 'though and very sociable.

Anyway hi ladies and hope all going well.

EEC · 31/03/2008 17:17

CARRIE Another one here with a bad diet. Lots of milk and cereal, and enough fruit I think, along with multi vit and omega oils. Other than that, it's whatever I fancy (and I fancy some pretty rubbish stuff, I can assure you!) Same last two times too (minus the omega oils - we didn't know about them then!) and perfectly super duper children as a result.

Also another one with piles here I think . Oh the indignity. No easy orgasms for me though, unfortunately. Only seem to get the inconvenient symptoms!

I have no idea either which way bubs is lying. A lot of squirming in all different places - high, low, left, right, so I guess it's just moving position all the time.

Will try massaging my feet tonight - am definitely too hyper to relax at the moment.

Monkey24 · 31/03/2008 17:31

Hi All
Well, I am back in the land of the living, I haven't posted on this thread for exactly 4 weeks. Some of you had seen my other thread about Pleural Effusion, thanks to those on here who sent their thoughts - can't believe how much people who I've never met before are so thoughtful.
Anyway, for those who don't know, been a traumatic 4 weeks. 20 week scan was not all good and our baby had a rare condition of fluid on the lungs. I am happy to report that he had a shunt a week and a half ago inserted into his little chest cavity and it is draining off the fluid in order for his lungs to grow properly. IT'S WORKING! He has been kicking about since we've had it done and is obviously a lot better. We are somewhat relieved to say the least, I thought babies were supposed to be trouble when they came out not when they are inside still!
So, now everything is back on track, I look forward to reading everyones comments about our impending little ones.
Thanks again
xxx

minipinkscottish · 31/03/2008 17:45

Fab news Monkey - welcome back!!!! xxx

Disney - I am having a 4d scan at just over 27 weeks and the place told me that betwwen 25 and 29 was optimum time.

Carrie - my oldest ds is 15 and swims for Scotland and is signed for the British Sporting Academy as a possible for London 2012 - when I was pg with him it was pickled onions and chocolate....so can't be all bad!! I'm a firm believer that a little of what you fancy does you good - your body will tell you if you need to chnage something - stop worrying and enjoy!!!!

It's sunny - yippee!!! Make you feel better eh?

tafftaff · 31/03/2008 17:50

Monkey 24, that's fabulous news that the shunt is working and all is well. We've all been worried but keeping our fingers crossed at the same time. Thanks for the update...isn't medical science amazing?

In response to all the diet queries...you've got me worried that I am not taking any supplements. I have been told by all my midwives (and there have been many) that there is no need to take them as long as my diet is fine! It is pretty good and I haven't had any morning sickness but do wonder if I am missing a trick. Is it too late to start anyway?

My sister had her first DS 3 months early which means that in theory, I would have a new baby tomorrow!!! How mad is that? I am keeping everything crossed (literally) that the incompetant cervix isn't hereditory (sp?) and that my LO will stay put until July.

Hi to the newbies...hope you're enjoying the thread.

Minkus · 31/03/2008 19:30

Ah monkey, so pleased for you. Do keep us informed of progress on here! x (Plus you said "him"- take it that bubs is a boy? Congrats if so not sure if we all knew that already and I'm just a bit slow )

Well I've had a bit of an odd day- suffered from really bad dizziness (of the physical not mental kind for a change) which worried me for a few hours. Started a thread here about it but no one has really able to share their experiences so far- has anyone on this thread had similar? It's so weird, I really haven't been able to do anything as moving makes it worse and I'm scared I will fall over, just hope it goes away soon

Diet not too bad here, if anything I think I'm eating less now than before pg (was a big old heifer then and constant sickness makes eating rather unappealing at the mo) although I am def eating more choc than normal. Still hankering for lettuce and balsamic vinegar though [weirdo emoticon]. DS doesn't have blood in his veins I think its grapefruit juice from the gallons I drank when pg with him

As well as minipink is everyone else enjoying the sun too? It's been really lovely here.
