Must...stop...doing...housework!!! o.o

bunyanvillas · 18/03/2008 07:12

Hi Gem, congratulations on the arrival of Ashton! (Sorry haven't been on here for AGES and not fully caught up yet) So sorry to hear you are having a difficult time. Is there any way you could get a mother's help in if even just for a few weeks? My dd was born early and had reflux although it took a long time to get it diagnosed. She was prescribed infant gaviscon and didn't look back after that. Hope things improve for you soon, have you any friends or contacts nearby that you could call on?

BabyBratt · 18/03/2008 08:35

Hi ladies,

Gem congratualations on the arrival of Ashton. My friend had her baby 9 weeks early. She said how hard it was on all the family. But little James came out a couple of weeks before his due date. I really hope things get better for you.

Daftmoo congratulations. You ladies are giving me hope because of my blood pressure they are talking about delivering LO early.

Now to be completely selfish I need to baby proof my hair. I have no idea what to do as I feel like a blob at the moment. My face is swollen (apparently all connected to my blood pressure) Any idea, can't decide whether to have a fringe because I wonder if it will make my face look fatter.

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 08:56

I wouldnt go with the fringe.. it'll annoy you in labour.. go with something you can tie back easily and will look good down or up?
But if you normally look good with a fringe then keep it, you are most important, and labour is just one day and you can wear a hair band.

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 08:58

Morning all...
Gem, great advice on here. Totally agree that your LO won't remember this time, but you other DCs will. May be if you involve them a little, if you can, it may make you fell better, maybe even help you.

I'm sure you have very little time to do anything but worry at the mo, but how about asking them to sort photos out for you? Either hard copy or on the PC?

May be print them out and ask them to start a scrap book? Or what about sorting out baby clothes for you or reorganising things at home? I seem to remember you have DDs and I'm sure they'd love choosing clothes for you and baby one to wear whilst still in hospital......

Sorry if this is rubbish... just my own thoughts.

He'll be home soon and this will all seem like a dream....

BR

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 08:59

Morning girls, I'll put the kettle on for you all and serve the toast and buttered muffins. Hope you all slept well. I actually managed 6 hours last night in a row. When I did wake up boy my bladder was whanging! Thought it could be first labour pains.. but no.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 09:02

Poor Gem - what awful timing. If there is no-one to look after your DC while you are a the hospital, is it worth looking into childcare for this time? I do feel for you and like everyone else has said - things will get better {{{hugs}}}

BabyBratt - aren't fringes quite a lot of maintenance? Don't know if that's a good baby proofing solution! Why not get your hairdresser to offer you a few ideas... nothing too drastic though - you don't want to end up regretting it! ;)

And Suze (thnk it's you) like Molly said, if your DH has already had cuts in his dept, I would imagine he should be okay, unless of course they are talking about any further cuts? 3/4 of my team are actively interviewing for new jobs at the moment, so by the time my year is up, I don't think I will have a team to go back to.

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 09:17

mmm wasn't going to say anything... but had a horrible experience last night. Went to bed at 11.15 and felt queasy. Nasty pains in my tummy to. Suddenly needed to go loo and spent the next 45 'clearing out' both ends so to speak. (sorry if TMI).

Felt ok this morning so have come in to work but feeling strange and no appetite. Went to the loo again (god knows where it's all coming from) but haven't been sick again. Lots of shooting pains as I think LO is very low today making it difficult to walk.

Not sure what to do now. LO is moving lots so pretty sure I'm not going into labour or anything, and I've told everyone that I'm having a good bye gathering at lunch time so sort of feel beholden to stick around.

Not a whole lot to do here so makes the day go really slowly.

What do you think? Oh and had to take paracetemol as had a fierce headache and a nasty sore throat...

May be I should see a vet and ask to be put down!!

BR

Scampmum · 18/03/2008 09:18

Suze - I would have thought quants should be quite safe - after all, technical analysis will still exist after the fallout! He could always go to Man Group, their strategy is storming even in this market. Still, must be a difficult place to work at the mo. The problem with all of this has been that some people have been doing a tremendous job according to their performance metrics the whole time, but when a bank is haemorrhaging capital through one department, everyone suffers.

I slept OK last night (although evicted DH through my snoring - how sexy pregnancy is ) but woke up KNACKERED this am. Am having to get up and go with DH to nursery as otherwise will be carless all day (he doesn't have time to drive home then walk to the station) and I plan to go back to bed when I get back but it's just not the same as actually sleeping in. Got to get him and DD on the bike! (although the idea fills me with mortal panic...)

EllieG · 18/03/2008 09:20

Poor Gem - so sorry to hear you are struggling. Many ((((hugs)))) to you lady. Hope it gets easier soon x

Mollyfloss · 18/03/2008 09:20

Morning! remember to do those kegels!

PfJ: Yum yo buttered muffins and I'm very jealous that you got 6 hours sleep in a row. 2 is the norm for me or 3 if I'm having a really good night

BR: you might have an upset stomach that has nothing to do with pg...? might be worth calling your GP or MW.

I have my last NCT class this morning. Chat to you all later..

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 18/03/2008 09:21

Oh my Bunny - you poor thing! Do you think it is a nasty bug you have picked up or do you think this might be a sign that baby is on it's way?

Is today your last day at work? If not, just have your lunch another day and GO HOME!

EllieG · 18/03/2008 09:21

BR - go easy hon - if you aren't feeling welll GO HOME. Doesn't matter about goodbye things more important that you get some rest x

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 09:21

Morning all!
thanks for delicious muffins PFJ - definitely needed some e-muffins as can't eat the real thing - have to keep running to the loo this morning . Plus been awake since 4.45am when I had the most huge contraction - (definitely NOT braxton hicks - I was in agony - having to pant etc etc) I just think it's a normal build up to due date but DH is panicking and thinks baba will be here any moment

off to see MW today anyway

will be able to chat loads today as working from home - can't even watch the thread from work now as they have published new Internet policy and as I am an HR Manager I have to be angelic in my conduct

Hugs to GemP - hope it all improves soon - whereabouts are you? I am also in the north away from family in the south (and still haven't got used to people calling trousers "pants")

Scampmum · 18/03/2008 09:23

X-posts, BR - you poor thing! Must admit to having a strange almost-jealousy given that my digestive system is still going entirely the other way (TMI). Doesn't inhibit my sympathy in any way, of course! Do you have anywhere you could go and lie down for a bit? Wake up for lunch then go home? How far gone are you? A clear out can definitely be a sign things are about to happen, but I had forgotten that if the baby is moving then it'll probably be a while. Is that accepted wisdom?

Peachy · 18/03/2008 09:25

V1kk1

Spd- snap, bloody painful isn't it?

Short of crutches (which I am only not using because I couldn't hold ds3's reins and use them), the best things I have found are painkillers and a bath, very warm with lavender oilo every day- does seem to help in combination. Mainly though I am now staying still as much as possible! Also the show- with ds3 I had one 9the only one I ever had) 4 weeks before he arrived, they're no guarantee of anything much ime!.

Gem- . My sister's lad was much the same, born early (a bit after yours) but needed more help than she had predicted, it seemed ages at the time and was very difficult even with no other DC's to care for, but all the wonderful SCBU support etc (mainloy NICU actually) meant that he's now absolutely fine, 4 years old and a wonderful chap.

suze hope your Dh is OK, must be a scary time. From a completely different perspective, even if the worst did happen you would survive- DH lost his job suddenly just 3 weeks or so before ds3 came along, it was scary but looking back it was good to have him home for 3 months and yes OK we did struggle for a while but the life we built out of it all was so much better and happier than what we had before (we sold the house, cleared the debts, rented a better place and I never went back to work). What is scary from a distance can sometimes bring gifts you don't expect.

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 09:25

Hope you feel better soon BR. If LO is sitting lower and lower its bound to press on your bowels and your bladder. When mine was really low for a while there I had the runs, but not as bad as yours by the sounds of it.
I'd wanna go home too if it were me, but you'll regret missing the lunch...
If your stuck in the loo though.. it won't be much of a lunch though!!
Hope it goes ok. Not long now BR.
xxx

BabyBratt · 18/03/2008 09:26

Doh never thought about fringe and labour might just trim it up because I can throw it up at the minute and then get a new hair do when baby is here.

Suze, I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully they have finished with cuts in his department. My DH is in construction and they are always laying people off. With my blood pressure they have told me to stop working but I have my own business so every day I spend at home I am not earning any money. So I appreciate how you feel.

BR I think the scrap book is a lovely idea.

I managed a whole 5 hours of unbroken sleep and I am cleaning like a trooper. Which Im sorry to say is unlike me I can normally live with a little bit of mess. I still have so long to go as well. Im only 35 weeks (unless they deliver me early of course)

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 09:30

Glad I am not the only one on a cleaning binge Babybratt

EllieG · 18/03/2008 09:34

I'm getting bored of cleaning now. I would like to nest but am running out of motivation.

Can I ask a possibly tmi question? How are people getting rid of hair 'down there'? I'm sure my lady garden is in dire need of attention and don't really want people seeing it like that when in labour etc but I can't see it to do anyhting about it!

ThePFJ · 18/03/2008 09:37

I suppose you could book yourself in for a day spa, with massage, facial, refexology etc. and a wax Ellie!
I know my DP will shave my legs for me at the moment, but I really CANT see him helping me with that little challenge!
-gives Ellie another muffin-

moominsmummy · 18/03/2008 09:38

am going to trust DH to trim for me!

EllieG · 18/03/2008 09:39

Yes might be asking a bit much of DP - can just imagine his face though, would be quite amusing...

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 09:39

Thanks for the sympathy.
Can't really do lunch time thing tomorrow as I'm leaving early for MW appointment, and last day is Thurday.

MF - I'll be 38 wks on Saturday but I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with preganancy too. Can't see the point in calling the DR or MW though. They'll only say that as long as I can drink fluids stick it out!!

Really pissed off as I've felt fine up till now. Feel really grotty.... just taken me 90 mins to eat half a bagel with peanut butter.

Ho hum.

BR

bunnyrabbit · 18/03/2008 09:43

WARNING
Do not wax when PG unless you like pain!

I found out when PG with DS that waxing when you're preganant can be VERY VERY painful.

Had my bits waxed at 38 weeks and it hurt and bled lots. I've been having my bits waxed for about 20 years and it's never hurt that much before.

I think it's to do with the ralaxin in your body making your skin stretchy....
