Sagitta, make and eat cakes for 2 1/2 weeks then it'll fly! And we'll keep you company...

Cake... it's the recipe I posted before.

9oz water
1/2 tsp bicarb of soda
1lb mixed fruit/veg
8oz wholemeal SR flour
4oz butter/marg
1/2 tsp mixed spice
2 eggs
and I use a tsp of baking soda too for luck!

(for peach & pear one I used a bag each of dried peaches and pears, I think they're about 100g each bag. Then a grated apple and enough currants to make up the lb. I used scissors to chop the peach & pear into little pieces.)

Preheat oven 160c/150 fan/gas mark 3
Put water, spice, fat, bicarb & fruit/veg into pan. Bring to boil and boil for 5 mins. Cool.
Stir in eggs & flour & beat well.
Put into 9" cake tin or 2lb loaf tin.
Bake for 1 hr - 1 hr 15 mins until a skewer comes out clean.

Will freeze apparently, but haven't managed to save any to freeze yet! Or rather there's some in the freezer now, but don't know how it is after it's been frozen.

Ellie, I got all proud and smiley when I read you'd packed your blanket! I've packed mine into the car seat for DH to bring to the hospital when it's home time.

I went out this morning to meet some of the NCT girls again, and have had a lovely cuddle of a very gorgeous 2 1/2 week old.

Then to my acupuncture session which was the same as yesterday's but with the addition of 2 needles in my tummy and one in the top of my head. That bit was very odd!

sagitta · 15/03/2008 15:46

Thanks knitter! If DD will let me, we'll make a cake this afternoon.

Have you felt LO turning yet?

KnitterInTheNW · 15/03/2008 16:14

Nope! I think he's a stubborn little monkey, can't think who he takes after...

PortAndLemon · 15/03/2008 16:30

sagitta -- when DH left for Nepal DS insisted on checking every escalator we passed on the way out of the airport, since as he'd seen DH disappearing up an escalator it clearly stood to reason that he'd be able to find him on one... . It was horrible how upset he was, but he seems to have coped well after that.

I am sure it will pass swiftly Sagitta, but you have all my sympathy. At least you are not due til end of April.
You can have a whole tube of minieggs from me to cheer you up!

I ordered some maternity bed pads from mothercare. I feel ready now for anything. Let's just see if this proves to be correct... I am sure there's something I am not prepared for, its sods law.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 15/03/2008 18:25

to the ladies whose DH's have gone abroad... I would hate that... Up till now my DH has not had to travel for work, but he came home the other night and told me over the course of the next year he will need to go to New York, Singapore and Jersey several times for work I would never try to stop him but I hate the idea of being on my own with bubs...

Had a funny day today - I think my blood pressure must have really dropped because I felt dreadful for a few hours - and only a 3 hour sleep seemed to help. Felt really faint, nauseous and dizzy - not pleasant. Feel much better now thanks to the sleep and hope I don't feel like that again!

Mollyfloss · 15/03/2008 19:18

PFJ: A towel under the sheet might be a good idea. you never know. Apparently only 20% of women's waters break before they go into labour so it could happen. I just finished a bag of mini eggs. Theyare good but I prefer mini creme eggs - yum!

Sorry for the ladies who's DH's & DP's have to go abroad. I keep reminding mine to leave his mobile charged and on at all times. When he went to the USA, I was 7 months and I had my Mum come over and stay with me just in case!

Mum2b: Glad to hear you're feeling better. I've been feeling a bit like that myself every few days recently and had to have a nap. I think it's just the whole late in the pg stage catching up with us.

We're off out for Indian tonight - last weeks Indian got cancelled. I'm looking forward to chicken korma

Denny185 · 15/03/2008 20:15

Well despite all bet intentions I have done diddly squat today (apart form some washing but the machine does that) so now going to have a busy day tomorrow. Hopefully will get a good sleep and be raring to go in the am.

Enjoy your curry Molly

for those whose DH/DP are out of the country at the moment

chipmonkey · 15/03/2008 20:28

Denny, did the clothes fly up and put themselves in the washing machine? No, therefore you did loads of work today!

Denny185 · 15/03/2008 20:33

Mmmm true never thought of it like that, they also didnt jump onto the radiators - feeling much better, I had a really productive day

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 21:06

I just had a yummy Lamb Rogan Josh and pilau rice. Hit the spot. I cant believe only 20% of waters break before labour Molly... Ever since I was small every 'TV' labour I have ever seen involves waters breaking first. Must add to the comedy I suppose. Will be interesting to see how many of us in this antenatal group have theirs break first then. We could see if the figures are true!
Well.. its something to whittle at while we all wait for our babies anyways

Hope you feel better M2B2BR!

XXX

PortAndLemon · 15/03/2008 21:20

Mine did first labour, as did my mother's. Hers never did in her other three births, and I don't know anyone else in RL whose waters went first. So actually I think the 20% may be a bit high.

Denny185 · 15/03/2008 21:26

Mine broke with DS after about 12 or so hours of early labour pains, thankfully on the loo at the time.

chipmonkey · 15/03/2008 21:28

My waters broke with ds1 but it was like an elastic snapping inside me, followed by a very slow trickle of fluid. No dramatic gush at all! Very disappointing!

Scampmum · 15/03/2008 21:31

I have no idea when my waters broke with DD - must have been in the bath I guess! I was well in labour by then, half an hour later was fully dilated.

Sagitta and P&L - they'll be back soon. Don't envy you looking after kids on your own at the mo, though. My DD is going through a Daddy phase at the mo - might be something to do with the fact he can play with her whilst I just hobble around . Dropped him off at the pub to watch the rugby today and she cried for ages, then got home, then about half an hour later started belting round the house trying to find him, shouting 'Daddy, where are you? Daddy gone!'. Hope that's not too insensitive but just wanted you to know I feel your pain. Lovely sister, though

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 21:48

Awwww.. I can't wait to go through all this stuff.. Your DD sounds so sweet Scampmum!

Scampmum · 15/03/2008 22:16

I am biased, but she is the most adorable little girl in the entire world. I may only be able to say that for the next six weeks so I should say it as often as I can .

It does get better and better, it really does. She's only 23 months so I'll defer to one of the others with older kids in terms of how long that trajectory continues (I'm guessing puberty at the latest?).

Mollyfloss · 15/03/2008 22:41

Back from dinner. It was lovely. I can't wait to ahve all that kids stuff going on in the house too. I am already nuts about my little niece and nephew so can't even imagine how I will be with my own. Can't wait!

LOL Mollyfloss, I remember telling my dsis that I was very worried that if I had my own dc's that I wouldn't love them as much as my dniece because I couldn't imagine loving a child as much as I loved her. My dsis did tell me I was being silly and it turned out she was right, I do adore my boys, thankfully!
The only thing I'd say is that although I was crazy about ds1 when he was newborn, I did find the whole experience overwhelming. I really hadn't realised how demanding a newborn is and was shocked at my inability to have a shower or get dressed. The first few weeks can be tough but it does get better.

Denny185 · 16/03/2008 09:39

Cant put my DD in the most adorable girl in the world catagory, she spent the first 18 months crying/screaming (not a well child) and now at the age of 5 would give any teenager a run for their money - but shes mine and I love her

AussieDivaOnABreak · 16/03/2008 09:56

Hello everyone. feels rather cheeky joining in at this late stage but seeing the list of babies due - I'm due on the 16th April - I guessed I could probably fill in the gap! This is my second, no idea what it will be, and have one ds who will be 4 in May. I'm recently 33, have had so little sex with my dh in the past two years that I'm v.bemused I'm pregnant at all and have just discovered Mumsnet. I live in Barnes so if there is anyone living nearby let me know! Hope I can make a small contribution to the group before everyone pops. x

AussieDivaOnABreak · 16/03/2008 09:57

Oops, said I have a ds when I have a dd! Blame it on the bump and Sunday morning, brain all fuzzy...

PortAndLemon · 16/03/2008 10:09

Hello AussieDiva -- I'm in Putney, so pretty close to you!

There's also a fairly active West London group on Mumsnet who meet up quite regularly, although I've been more than ordinarily rubbish at joining in while pregnant as I've been so tired.
