I am sure you will look FAB VS. I normally wear my smart black coulottes and stockings with a nice scoop neck long sleeve top to match, with sling back sandals. Comfy and smart.

Mollyfloss · 14/03/2008 21:17

What posessed me to go to Oxford street today?! - absolute madness at this point in my pg! Was completely exhausting. I got two nighties from Mothercare. The packet showed that they had buttons in the front but did they when I got home and opened the packet? of course not! Still they are low enough to nurse so I'll use them but I need something with buttons that can be opened quickly for when the baby pops out and they put her skin to skin.

Scampmum: let's hope some of my by big bum is mainly due to water too. I walk a lot and like it so I'm glad to hear it helps!

Soph: you look great!

TLSM: Must be weird and exciting to know exactly when you're having the baby! By the way, you can ask to be tested for GBS. I have and it's just a quick swab.

Toast: We have a maxi cosi that was given to us. I think you just strap it in. Are they safe enough? It will only get used on the odd ocassion as we don't actually have a car.

You are all so good at baking. i'm a fairly good cook but don't do many cakes although I have some very good recipes I have to try.

Mum2b: the female head of your team is nuts. I've been going to the gym until a few weeks ago and now go to the pool and do special preggers exercises but skiing at 6 months??? that is just nuts, she could have done herself and the baby some serious harm if she fell...

VS: So exciting! wear something comfy that shows off your bump nicely

chipmonkey · 14/03/2008 21:33

VS, very exciting!!!

EllieG · 14/03/2008 22:25

VS is gonna be a star! Just remember us when you're up there hon - don't forget yer roots luv.

Ate the world's largest amount of indian takeaway this evening. God it was good. Took me all night to feel comfy again but was worth it.

Thanks for receipe sagitta, will defo try that one, looks yummy I love that kind of thing.

Too tired now to post - NEM have added you on fb - trouble is now I keep forgetting who everyone is as I only remember people by MN names. Is very confusing. Think I will stay here and not bother with fb. I don't like it much anyway is full of silly things and no one talks about cake.

pfj - didn't realise you were 38 weeks! Not long lady!

Hello knitter - have just packed my lovely blanket you made in my hospital bag - have been cuddling it so smells like me and want the baby to have something lovely and snuggly to be wrapped in when she comes home.

Hello tlsm and soph and sheds and carey and TA and PAL and Denny and molly and chip and scamp and mum2b and everyone else can't remember all the rest of the posts sorry v sleepy night night

ThePFJ · 14/03/2008 22:37

I know Ellie!! >.

TLSM · 14/03/2008 22:51

Molly I have the maxi cosi if its the newer one you can buy the base for it to fit on but if you dont have a car I wouldnt bother as its fine without just a tad more fiddle!

I have GBS (they tested me at the beginning of my PG and again a few weeks ago) thats why the dont want my waters to break because if that happens and the baby is still breech they will have to do an emergency C section and the baby will need antibiotics.

Carey87 · 15/03/2008 08:04

OK i have to take everything back that Ive said abou my dp....

he had sorted out the insurance but wanted it to be a surprise - how guilty do I feel!!!

I creied when he hadnt done it and I cried when he had, I am an absolute emotional wreck at the mo all because I passed my test!

God help this lo!!!

Cx

ToastAddict · 15/03/2008 08:49

Hooray for your dp, Carey - they do redeem themselves sometimes, don't they?

Carey87 · 15/03/2008 08:58

yes they do! i feel like such a bit*h now

ToastAddict · 15/03/2008 09:08

Well you shouldn't - he should know by now how emotional you are and expect tears over anything!!

ToastAddict · 15/03/2008 09:27

Oh I forgot to say yesterday - went to see midwife, apparently baby has dropped down a bit (previously free, now 4/5), she reckons that could be what caused the period-pain cramps. Nice to be given a possible reason

One very nasty moment though - she put that heartbeat listening thing on my tummy and apart from the background hiss, there was nothing I had felt little one kicking just before, so wasn't too alarmed, but even so. She had a listen through an "old fashioned" horn type thing and everything was fine - she reckons the battery's gone in her doppler thing. But not a good moment

Anyway, lo is very active now, so no doubting she's fine now

Denny185 · 15/03/2008 09:31

V scary moment for you, glad all ok and LO moving in the right direction

Mollyfloss · 15/03/2008 09:36

I finally got around to ordering a changing table last night. table It's very simple but will fit in the nursery as I don't have much space left. I'll put some nice lined wicker baskets on the shelves. They're very handy.

TLSM: I thought if you have GBS they could simply treat you with pennisilin or something...? Anyway, at least they know you have it. The danger is when they don't know. I don't know why they don't routinely check for it.

Toast: How scary, that kind of thing can really freak you out for a moment.

Denny185 · 15/03/2008 10:23

I think that is the same change table as a friend had, it holds loads of stuff underneath it and was v practical.

A good friend has just been up to stay for a couple of days, lovely to see her, we didnt quite do things we had planned as her DD had a sickness bug. We did however manage to get chatting and food in

Now have a couple of days get everything ready for going away with the outlaws next week - shopping and ironing today, packing tomorrow I think.

Went to MW on Thur LO still 2/5, not changed from 2 weeks ago so fairly sure it wont be a Welsh baby, its also in the perfect position for a natural delivery apparently - I think thats what they call sods law

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 10:35

Morning everyone. I asked my 'How likely is it to go into labour when babies head isn't engaged' question here and got a surprise.
Apparently its still very possible. So that should delight any of you not engaged wanting baby to hurry up like me!!
How is everyone?
Carey I am so pleased with your DP.. I am glad he redeemed himself for you!
Toast my last MW visit the 'temp' MW (mine's off sick) took 5 mins to find the heartbeat.. she was looking on the wrong side. Then she told me this (my village health centre) used to be her practice. o.O
But at least she found it hey?

scorpio1 · 15/03/2008 10:49

by the sounds of it my MW is the best!!

I can't get my pushchair today, DH got paid by cheque yesterday so will have to wait until tuesday!!

Easter hols for kids start on thursday....eek! DH is away for 2 nights next weekend but thats ok this time. Have got a list of stuff to do to get ready for Millie next weekend so that will pass the time.

Have lots of baby appts next week - HB on Monday and HV's on Tuesday.

Have nothing to do today; no money really. hmmpphh.

PortAndLemon · 15/03/2008 11:09

Mollyfloss -- they want to treat you with intravenous antobiotics for GBS, and if you don't get them in the right time window before the baby arrives they then want to do the same for the baby to be on the safe side.

PFJ - I went into labour when DS wan't engaged. When the baby isn't engaged and the first thing that happens is that your waters go it's quite dramatic (as you don't have the baby's head acting as a stopper at all). Fortunately we are near the Thames so the neighbours had robust flood defences...

Had hardly felt the baby yesterday (just a little wriggle in the evening that stopped me phoning the hospital right then) or this morning. Little tinker waited literally until a few minutes ago whilw I was looking up the telephone number of a friend to see if she could take DS for a couple of hours if I went in to be checked and then, of course, had a good old squirm around. Phew! I was having visions of immediate emergency c-sections and so forth, as you do when pregnant and paranoid (and with DH not due back until Monday).

But MY BAG IS PACKED! So the baby can come when she wants now. I also have strange puncture marks on my ankle that look like the bite of either a snake or an extremely small vampire, neither of which I recall seeing around the place recently .

Mollyfloss · 15/03/2008 11:21

PFJ: This whole engaged thing is a mystery to me. 10 days ago the head of my LO was deeply engaged in the pelvis (1/5) and then 4 days ago it was back to 3/5 but is still in a very good position. Just goes to show with labour that anything could happen

PAL: Thanks for the info on GBS. I was tested for it on Wednesday and haven't got the results yet. No need to think I have it though. Fingers crossed.

Your ankle bites sound very strange indeed...

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 11:53

Yay for packing your bag PortandLemon!!
Well my life is always dramatic so a tidal wave followed by me shouting 'Surf's Up!' sounds rather fitting!!

Scorpio I am in the same boat, so think I'll hang around and watch crap tv all day while thinking about laundry..

I'll think maybe putting garlic at the bottom of the bed might be a good idea. You never know..
-remembers the latest episode of Torchwood and shudders-

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 11:55

By the way I agree with you there Mollyfloss.. do you think I ought to start putting a large towel down under me as I sleep? I don't really have any rubber sheets, but I don't fancy scrubbing a mattress!

Maybe some of the more experienced ladies here can give us some tips?

PortAndLemon · 15/03/2008 12:38

You can get special pads at Mothercare (or Boots, I think) that go under your sheet: here.

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 14:31

That looks perfect PAL. Thank you

sagitta · 15/03/2008 14:56

Hello all. DH left this morning for Australia - and DD howled all the way home from the station shouting "I want my daddy back!" Horrible.
But my sis turned up as a surprise for lunch , so a much nicer day that i thought it'd be.

VS - very exciting. You must let us know when its going to be on telly.
Lots of yummy sounding cakes on here - have you got the recipe for the pear one, knitter?
Congrats to all those who finished work!

ThePFJ · 15/03/2008 14:58

Wow.. how long will DH be in OZ sagitta?

sagitta · 15/03/2008 15:04
