Come on girls, keep getting jiggy and eating those curries.

Princess - hope you feel better soon - I think the baby blues are worst for most people at around the time their milk comes in so hopefully you'll feel better soon. LOL at your midwifes being surprised at one point that you were 9.5 cm dilated because you weren't screaming. My midwife was the same when she examined me and said I was obviously just quietly getting on with it.

I watched dirty sexy money too and thought it was v. funny!!!

princessllama · 22/03/2008 20:15

gingermumi on the christening thing, we had 6 godparents last time round and one was jewish, two were baptised and confirmed and the others were firm non believers-the priest never asked thankfully and was v relaxed about it-he said if they were wondering about their duties, it was to collect lo from magaluf when she runs off with an unlikely man at 16!

samsmam · 22/03/2008 20:46

Glad you are back PL- 17 month age gap is hardcore you are dead right. Breastfeeding is slowly going downhill, DD1 hasn't let me do it all day today. I have been expressing what I can. I have just given LO an hour and a half me and her feeding. If I have to give up I will be sad.
Been another demanding and tearful day.

Jo9977 · 22/03/2008 21:27

Feel for you samsmam and princess - hang in there sweeties!

leesmum · 22/03/2008 21:40

Princess its great to hear from you i can only imagine how hard it must be for you and the others who have a small age gap between babies
And i agree with feeling very emotional for a few days when my milk came in, you honestly think is it worth the bother with bf sometimes! It sounds like you did great in labour and thank god you didn't have to have a cs, how is your daughter coping with it all? And btw if you haven't done it allready you have the job of naming our very first post-natal thread (thats if you're not too knackered!)

Well i went out on my first night out last night its mums birthday on monday so my sisters and i took mum to a new italian restaurant, it was yum and great to escape for a few hours!! i left Dp with a bottle of formula for baby (his first!) and the greedy buggar drank all 5ozs and went straight back to sleep, the only downside was me having to go into toilets and release a bit of milk because my tits were rock hard! but it was worth it for a great night out

Happy Easter everyone xxx

Gill79 · 22/03/2008 21:46

Hi Princess - great to hear from you and hear your birth story. I too was at lowest when the milk came in hopefuly you will be perking up soon. Have fun with your wee man.

Right - am going t ask about this elsewhere but does anyone know about flying domestic with budget airlines - does LO (8 weeks) need to have photo identification? Looked on the easyjet website but couldn't find anything about it whichmakes me think they just treat them as adults (potential terrorists!)

leesmum · 22/03/2008 21:55

Hi Gill how's Malcolm?

Yes you need photo id even for newborns but when we got DS1 first passport at 9months we got told that if you have it done before they are 6 months the colour of their eyes doesn't have to be visible?? what i mean is when i took Ds1's picture in the woman in the post office said that she couldn't tell what colour his eyes were and we had to get another pic done that showed up his blue eyes i wanted to smash her face in for being so picky i mean you can't tell what colour my bleedin' eyes are on my passport picture!!

LOVEMYMUM · 22/03/2008 22:12

Congrats Princess!

Only a short post cos I want to go to bed before i have to feed Katie again.

Am combining bottle and b/feeding. Am thinking of you all and look forward to being able to spend more time on here once Katie is sleeping a bit more.

Going to try to sleep before i have to give her her late bottle.

HAPPY EASTER everyone!! I certainky don;t need an excuse to eat MORE chocolate!

Mutha - did laught at your DH1 error! Constipation sounds horrendous. Glad it is better now. Am also giving 1 aptamil bottle a day so I can go out some time in the future!

Rozzy - it is difficult to get a good latch sometimes lying down - I have a crick in my neck from looking down at that angle! Also LO does this weird thing of rooting for the breast with a wide open mouth but not latching on for ages - sometime i even go back to sleep while waiting for her to suck - leaving the boob hanging out in case she decides to eat! My back is suffering a bit from the stiff position I need to maintain to leave the boob out for her! Also leave bathrrom light on all night!

Gill - thanks for the exercise tip - I am sooo lazy about my flabby tummy. An honest 7 year old friend of DD2 said breezily yesterday 'so you havent lost the fat tummy yet then.." hmmm might get that Davina DVD....

Ginger - cat peee! ugh you poor thing. I think it is OK if one of your god parents is christenened - so have a few godparents!

Jo - you sound v low - have you got a good mate you can spend time with? I really do feel for you and samsmam, it is rotten to be feeling depressed with new baby. You and PL really have a tough job with 2 liitle ones. Total respect to you and others with lots of little ones.

Princess - wow - stressful time it sounds like - well done to get through it so well. Hope your LO is fine now! Love the sound of your priest!

Hope you are all having a great family day today

Gill79 · 23/03/2008 11:51

Hi Leesmum- Malcolm is fab - we're wanting to take him up to Glasgow to meet his great granny before he gets too big and can't quite picture how we would manage on the train. Am not loving the idea of flying with him though!

Slacker · 23/03/2008 12:42

OMG I've eaten too much chocolate...having a prolonged lie-in with baby and children keep bringing me half eaten easter eggs that they've "had enough of" - I'm sure Thorntons chocolate used to taste nicer than it does now.

DS4 is being so fussy today, he was great yesterday when we drove 2.5 hours each way to visit cousins (thank god!), but today it's constant feeding and hiccups and nappy-filling! I still have to arrange an easter egg hunt for the other kids but have been waiting to see if the garden dries out enough to do it out there...after going for a walk yesterday and getting caught out in a hail storm I'm a bit wary of the weather

princessllama · 23/03/2008 12:55

does anyone know if there is a special trick with nappies on boy babies? ferdie keeps getting soaked and not sure if it's because it's crap technique or crap brand of nappy

princessllama · 23/03/2008 12:58

samsmam that sounds really hard with the feeding and looking after lo. is there anyone that can entertain sam? Hope has been to the soft play place with her dad 2 days running now. don't know how we would cope if didn't have all the grandparents helping out.

Slacker · 23/03/2008 13:00

PL - are you using disposables? Make sure that the leg cuffs aren't tucked in, that you're using a big enough nappy (just because it says ok for

tyaca · 23/03/2008 13:45

princess so good to hear from you and lots of congrats on arrival of baby ferdie. fair play for contracting to 9cm quietly ... its all such a shell-shocked time, isnt it? i am now more than a fortnight away from dd's birth and i still feel a weepy (but at least am not bampot crazy likr first few days) ... take care

beansprout · 23/03/2008 14:52

PL - willy points south!!

Am at my parents' house atm. Ds1 is still being rather, ahem, challenging which is pretty exhausting but hey, at least the adults are outnumbering the kids!

leesmum · 23/03/2008 15:01

Princess remember to tuck it down!! lol at beansprout and for those of you with first boys watch out for those baby erections sorry if tmi but it freaked me out for ages!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm chocolate

princessllama · 23/03/2008 19:38

another question for you pros-is it ok if his tummy button is a bit smelly and tiny amount of blood from it?

Jaysthird · 23/03/2008 19:57

yes PL its fine. Just clean it out daily with some cooled boiled water to make sure theres not too much of a 'gunk' build up!

Nice to see you on here, although i cant really comment, i have been bogged down with everything for the past week or so. Trying so hard to 'fit' Cooper into an already established routine and its proving very difficult. DD1 - who was 2 in Jan, has resorted to being a 'baby' i was expecting it but, shes taking it to the extreame. Wont drink out of a cup, wants to lay down all the time for nappy changes ( shes in pull ups and norm change her standing) she wants to have 'naps' all the time, and wants me to pick her up and carry her every where. Of course i cant give in to all these demands so cue temper tantrum city!!! This in turn sets of DS1 - Who was 1 five days after Cooper was born, off. Crying and wanting to cling to my leg as if i was going to leave him for ever....if i didnt laugh so much at it all i would be an emotional wreck - oh i am an emotional wreck....!!!
To top it all, Cooper has a bad tongue tie and takes about an hour to feed, with ALOT of 'bobbing' on and off my boob and getting frustrated and worn out with it all! I have been referred to the consultant, but have been advised it could take THREE months before anythng is done... anyone got any experience with tongue tie???

ANYWAY, yes its hard, yes i am knackered, yes i dont feel like i have enough time on my hands, yes DH and i argue more....BUT it WILL all be worth it in the end...just got to ride out that wave!

Much love and hugs to EVERYONE, oh and PL , whats the name for the new thread, have you thought of it yet??

princessllama · 23/03/2008 19:57

how about 'sore nips and no naps' for the new thread?

Jaysthird · 23/03/2008 19:59

x posts PL, sounds just about right to me!!!!

princessllama · 23/03/2008 20:05

i remember from the other thread i was on for lo that some of the other mothers had babies with a tongue tie. one of them went to see a guy at southampton hospital. if it's bad enough they will snip it, apparently takes minutes to do so not as bad as you'd think. dd had a minor one and it made feeding much more choky and added to her reflux probs.-so impressed jay that you are doing so well with so many tiny people to look after. puts me to shame. am feeling overwhelmed by balancing act between the 2 kids. dd has become a real daddy's girl which is fine til he goes back. i spend alot of time thinking i wish it was back to the way it was before ferdie came on the scene (although he is so cute and edible). don't know how i'll get out of the house with the 2 of them-how do you manage to bf in public with a 17month old to look after? it seems way too cold to get my breasts out at the playground.

rozzyraspberry · 23/03/2008 20:10

OMG Jaysthird - I didn't realise your 3 were so close in age!! I'm surprised you find time to come on here at all!

We've been having a 'sleeping is cheating' day here today. Lo slept for a few hours this morning whilst we were out at the park but has only had a few 10-15 min cat naps since. He's in his bouncy chair at the moment and I keep thinking he's about to drop off but he's really fighting it. He's not crying though so I'll just leave him to it for now.

He's 6 weeks tomorrow - time is passing so quickly. Feel quite sad sometimes that this baby time is passing so quickly as this is our last. But he is getting to a lovely stage - much less crying and lots of lovely smiles. He loves his bouncy chair and baby gym now. He's looking gorgeous just now too - getting little chubby cheeks and the spots are going - not that I'm biased or anything.

Jaysthird · 23/03/2008 20:16

yeah the tongue tie is bad enough. I have actually got a lactation consultant coming round on Tuesday to help and give me advice on the feeding front. I am expecting her to give me the miracle answers, especially as she is costing me 35 quid an hour!! apparently she is being trained by the consultant i am being referred to, to be able to perform the 'snipping' i do think he will have to have it done, i would rather he had it done now than in a years time, when an anesthetic would have to be used!

PL it does take a lot of juggling, but try not to stress too much, time will go by so quickly, and you will wonder why you did worry so much. IF you have to BF in public, bribery always works well with the siblings! Chocolate, a promise, a special toy.. whatever works well then use it to your advantage! From a personal POV i try and work around feed times, not because i wont BF in public, but because i know that it will take me so damn long that by the time i had finished, the other two LO's would be either having a screaming fit or have run off! Do what feels right and dont worry if your first born has to 'suffer' a bit, these things have to be done!

Love the name Ferdie BTW!!
