princessllama · 06/03/2008 18:20

good luck tyaca, we'll all be thinking of you, stupid me, i think i left it too late for you to get this.

omy · 06/03/2008 18:35

rozzy - I wish I could keep her attached to my nipple! She screams and pulls off - she screams as if in real pain - it's awful to see her like that. Her tummy seems really distended to me - but maybe all baby tummies are huge?

omy · 06/03/2008 18:37

I just got in the bath with her to see if she would stop screaming and she did! she really seemed to enjoy floating around - but then when I got her out the screaming started again. DH has calmed now her with a dummy which she is holding onto for dear life!

leesmum · 06/03/2008 19:35

oohh lets hope Tyaca is doing ok and baby is safely on her way, jay send her our love if you get any news xxx

So i'm not the only one with a fussy baby from 5 till 8

Are'nt men great big fat shitty drama queens..before Dp had Ds2 upstairs on his knee i'm downstairs with Ds1 and i heard " oh no get up here now i need help its everywhere" so i'm thinking great he's only just had a bath and chundered everywhere, so i get upstairs and all he's done is brought a good mouthfull of milk up on his bib!! well my face must of been a picture, i told him where the clean flannels were and to clean it up, as if i haven't got enough to do

rozzyraspberry · 06/03/2008 20:08

Don't know much about it omy but could it be reflux or something else which your hv could advise on? Poor thing - my lo is not in pain or anything - just stocking up for the night I think. I think he's actually down for the night so I'm off to watch a little bit of telly and then have an early night.

Heres hoping for a good nights sleep for everyone - except for those of you still pregnant of course - hope cx keep you awake!!

Jaysthird · 06/03/2008 21:36

no news as yet, last email was 6ish, not sure what time Tyaca was going in. Will keep you informed, as i am!

And to add to that, nothing much going on here either, lots of big movements, like he/she wants to get out, but nothing to suggest thats likely to happen!!

Week today and counting till crappy induction

Omy i am not a doctor by any means, but that sounds just like my DS, he would do the same thing, and i would end up feeding him five mins a time for EVER! I got so distressed with it , i think he picked up on it and made it worse. Turned out he did have reflux and i had numerous appts with the specialist and he was on meds till about 8 months old. Have to say i ended up TELLING my GP what the matter was! Ask your Doctor and HV if they can advise you and keep a log of when he feeds and for how long. First port of call is infant gaviscon. hassle if you are BF but i did manage it for a bit. Sad to say i only ended up BF for about 3 mths, it just got too much in the end!
Dont want to be negative, just sharing my experience!!

CountTo10 · 07/03/2008 08:46

Ooooo hopefully we'll hear something fromo tyaca soon - happy thoughts being sent her way!!

Just had anightmare night with ds2, he just would not settle from the minute we put him down at 7.30pm till about 6ish am. He just kept waking up every hour or so either for a feed or cause his tummy hurt/needed a poo!!! Gonna start trying massage on his tummy with warm flannel/olive oil at every change time to try and get things moving as I'm wondering if that's his issue more than reflux. He's just not being that sick. Ds1 used to puke up gallons at a time!! Amd he's not unsettled every night sigh, I don't know!!!

On a more positive note, did bath time on my own last night with both boys and they were absolutely superb. Ds2 seems to love having baths - ds1 always screamed so at least we're doing someting right!!!!

Have organised my baby wetting as well (I did the work so why not!!!) and I can't wait. Just got to find something half decent to squeeze myself into now

On the creadle cap - ds1 had this for a couple of years, we used to do the olive oil thing but also used dentinox and that was really good - not sure how early you can use it though.

CountTo10 · 07/03/2008 08:57

Omy - we are having similar problems at the moment although not all the time. Ds2 seems to get quite built up and then screams and arches his back or draws his legs up and really squirms. Sometimes it's trapped wind and sometimes it's cause he's trying to have a poo. That's what we had all last night. We use a dummy cause they are looking for comfort and also the sucking sometimes helps relive the pressure. The more they feed the more built up they can get which is why the dummy is recommended. It's also more at night than day as the wind tends to build up during the day and then at night they're sposed to spend all night on their back. Quite often we pick ds2 up, rub his back and a huge burp comes up or once he's done a huge poo, he passes out!! We've tried infacol but that just made him really sick, and gripe water works now and again. The warmth of a bath seems to soothe which is why we're going to try the warm massage. I also find that by keeping ds2 upright for 10-15 mins after a winding helps, I usually just have him on my chest and that seems to cut a lot of the sickiness down. Cycling his legs helps relieve his tummy a bit and also rubbing the left hand side of his tummy in a backward c - apparantly helps the colon get moving!! It is really distressing to hear them screaming. Hope you're ok.

Jaysthird · 07/03/2008 09:15

i second all that countTo10 wrote, i did that with DS also, it did help, and if nothing else it makes you feel better about doing something constructive to help the wee thing!

Well done You (cTo10) on the bathing of the babes! Its a tough job on your own, but once you have done it once , it will become par for the course!

No news from Tyaca yet, guess shes either in awe of the LO, shes forgotten about us or shes still in labor? time will tell!

Anyway, i've had a show, i've had a show, i've had a show, and like i just posted on a nother thread, dont anyone dare tell me i could be days yet....let me just bask in this exciting news for a bit!!! Didn't have shows with first two, so wasnt really looking for one, but this morning there it was, winking at me lol!! having a mild contractions and period pains also, am praying this is the start!!

On a sadder note - for me anyway, took DS to nursery for the first time this morning, hes had a cpl of trials but today is his first full day. He seemed ok, but then i made the mistake of glancing in the window before i left, he saw me and didnt know whether to smile at me or drop his bottom lip....oh god the guilt, i very nearly had to go in to him, but managed to hold back. I know he will be fine, but hes so much more clingy than his Big sis, who has never cried when i leave her - ANYWHERE! Anyway i got to the car and had a weep!! and i dont normally do that! Will call them in a bit to see if alls well.

Hope everyone else has a good day, xx

CountTo10 · 07/03/2008 09:24

Oh Jaysthird!!! Firstly yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee a show, a show, a show!!!! Things are finally on the move!!!

Secondly, I totally feel for you re the nursery thing. I remember the first time I took ds1 and he was fine and I still blubbed when i got to the car!! He'll love it and they need that time away. Especially once the baby comes as it will be something that's totally his and not about baby which could be coming very soon!!!!!!

princessllama · 07/03/2008 12:19

countto10 don't forget reflux can be silent as well as the projectile kind. lo had silent reflux-they do alot of choking/gagging but rarely stuff actually comes up-just something to keep in the back of your mind-took forever for the drs to believe me because of the lack of vomit.

gingermumi · 07/03/2008 12:41

Hey ladies, just time to catch up before next feed.

Egg- thanks for setting up new thread! On subject of poss epilepsy, ds actually jerks his hands and legs inwards, it is quite marked and only happens when he is asleep (epilepsy can happen awake or asleep).

The consultant rang yesterday, having managed to open the video clip, and said he was surprised at how bad jeking is. he has referred it to an epilepsy specialist but they are still working on Sleep Myoclonia but brain wave trace will help confirm this. He still wouldn't rule out epilepsy but said not to worry (How can you not!?). If it epilepsy, the kind that it would most likely be be be would probably not be treated at this stage as the treatment can inhibit brain development. Am trying not to think about it too much. Waiting for brain trace and have appt with consultant in april. He did say that usually babies with epilepsy seem unwell or have other problems and as ds is 'thriving' that makes them lean towards the less worrying diagnosis. My 'thriving' son now weighs 13 and 1/2 pounds, god know what he would have been if he had gone full term!

Any news on tyaca- how exciting!

Jay - can't beleive you're still hanging on! Sending labour vibes your way!

Colicy tummy - try laying lo on their front over your knees or a cushion and rub their back - ds loves this and it seems to help when he gets tummy pains.

Feeding time at the zoo so have to go!

gingermumi · 07/03/2008 12:43

Oh and cradle cap - bad news - dd1 had cardle cap and i never found anything that really helped - she still has it now - though i guess it's not called cradle cap when you're nearly 20! She gets something from docs but probably not suitable for babies.

Jaysthird · 07/03/2008 14:46

BIRTH UPDATE**

"ouch that hurt.Sod birth au naturel.Show me the drugs! Esther Dear, 6lb 10oz, born 9.45 this morning. Tyaca"

Just recieved this text!!! Big congratulations to The Dear household

Jaysthird · 07/03/2008 15:04

As you can tell, i am still here, nothing more to report...alls quiet on the western front....

Bessie123 · 07/03/2008 15:19

Gosh, that was a nice quick birth for Tyaca, then? Please pass my BIG congrats on to her.

Just popping in to say hi and good luck to Jaysthird and PrincessLlama - it can't be long now.

I think I am winning the biggest baby award??

bovrilsarnies · 07/03/2008 15:22

Jaysthird - congrats on the show!! I had a show within 24 hrs of birth!!! won't be long for you now!!

Sending goodluck and strong labour vibes to all ladies in waiting (Lurkers and posters alike!!)

Life with a new baby is wierd - not sure what I expected it to be like mind you!! (except for tiring of course!)

Breastfeeding is going well - had a few issues to start with, but all now seems okay...... Well Seren is feeding really well, sleeping for long stretches at a time and only lost 3oz of her birth weight in the first 5 days - she has not been weiged since as both the midwife and Health Visitor took one look at her and decided there was no real need!! - I told them I've got gold top in these bazookers!!

I will get her weighed next visit though as I am interested to know how fast she is growing.

I am having probs getting all her wind up - and she will scream like a Banshea (sp?) when it is time for a nappy change or a bath!! she hates having her clothes off!!!

Serens "happy hour" seems to be from midnight till 3am, when she will NOT be put down..... it's a bit annoying as she is sooo good at other times of the day!

Egg · 07/03/2008 15:22

oh a baby!

Fabulous news from Tyaca, congrats on the safe arrival of lovely Esther . Jays you can go for it now, your LO was just holding on so you could let us know, and now it is your turn!

gingermumi · 07/03/2008 15:40

Excellent news! Congrats to tyaca

gingermumi · 07/03/2008 15:44

Am off to parents shortly, they only live a short distance but they are going away for weekend so we are dog and cat sitting (we can't have their pets here on account of our menagery). Not sure how ds will take to new environmnet for weekend but we shall see! Probably wont get chance to get to a computer over the next couple of days so goodluck to jay and princess! I expect babies by monday please! Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend.

Egg · 07/03/2008 16:14

ginger thanks for info on your DS, mine is definitely juddering not jerking and he usually does one leg or one arm... I think it is nothing to worry about. Think he has given himself a hernia tho with all the pushing of the poo, he now has a very outy belly button and it is a bit see thru. So many things to get checked next week when we see doc.

Hi carey how are you doing? I was on your thread the other day. Hope those waters are staying intact, Jay and princess would go mad if you get there before them!

Jay try not to worry about nursery. He will be fine. My DS1 started last Sept. We moved house a week before. He cried a bit, and he cried every time I left him for a week or two (he was doing 2 mornings a week) but they said he was always happy within a few mins of me going and he was always happy when I arrived back (even before he saw me). He loves it now and does two full days a week from 9ish to 5ish.

Really have to get him out of bed, he has been asleep since 1pm .

Bovril good to hear from you and glad bf is going well and Seren is getting bigger! I think banshee is with two ee's but not sure!!!!

Congrats to tyaca - fantastic news - I was worried we wouldn't hear anything if jay went into labour too but feel free to have your baby now jay. I had all 3 of my babies within 36 hours of show.

Andrew started screaming must go...

Egg · 07/03/2008 18:05

Bit quiet on here at mo...

DS1 just puked on his Blankie . Thankfully I think it was just a pukey burp as only a teeny amount, and he came running over saying "sick babbie sick". Blankie is in washing machine on quick wash so will be clean in time for bed [phew emoticon].

Babies dozing in front of tv...

OP posts:
Egg · 07/03/2008 18:07

Oh I never really had a show with either pg, but did get bleeding, and both times was giving birth within 3hrs of bleeding. Never lost a mucus plug though, and have always been curious to know what one looks like .

Spoke too soon. One baby dozing. One crying.
