I have a few stretchmarks on the underside of my breasts as well which really upsets me as I have lost a cup size since falling pregnant (with all the weight loss) and in actual fact now have smaller ones!!! GRR! What's that about!!!

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 16:11

ooooo, can I be facebook friends too? Ellie knows my real name!

Denny185 · 07/03/2008 16:13

Sorry quick post will catch up later. Knitter and sheds shall we meet at 12.30 then? I will prob go an hour earlier and knacker DS out in the soft play area. I'll check later/tomorrow to check if ok with u 2.

EllieG · 07/03/2008 16:14

I will find you knitter! Though I don't really use fb much as the only people on it are people I chat to all day on MN or in RL.

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 16:17

12:30 sounds great to me Denny, I'll probably be there early too, I am for nearly everything. Not for much longer though!

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 16:19

Hee hee, I was about to ask if we were going to wear flowers or carry a newspaper or whatever to recognise each other, then realised we'll have much more obvious, very bumpy recognisable features!!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 17:07

DP just called he has been in a bloody car accident. Some moron broke in the middle of the road so the dude in front of DP broke as did DP and they all ended up smashing into each other.
Thankfully he is alright.
Just went round the shop to get chocolate and crisps and things and it's such a shit shop.
Really annoys me, no cake, no big bags of crisps
I've just told DP he has to call me before he leaves the pub to see if I'm still up so he can bring me a kebab home

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 17:15

I had a 3 hour nap this afternoon, what a luxury... stretch & yawn...

VS: Good luck with driving. I've had my full licence for years (although have hardly ever used it) and my DH doesn't want me to drive. He says London wouldn't be safe

Ellie: LOL at the trainee falling into the pool. What did the woman in it do?

I haven't got any strechmarks yet but have heard they can literally pop up in the last few weeks! I have progressively got bigger throughout the pregnancy too so hopefully that will have helped. I heard taking Calc Flor X 12, 2 tablets 4 times daily for the last month can help... anyone done this?

Apparently if your waters break and you don't go into labout they are legally obliged to induce you max 72 hours after...

I can post from my phone so as soon as I have the energy after the birth I'll be letting you all know how it went!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 17:16

It depends on your waters and how far pregnant you are.
When your waters do go make sure you check to see the colour of them and if there seems to be any blood or meconium in them, meconium is brownish and suggests baby is in distress.
If your waters break too early they will often heal back up so you'll be ok, just depends on the pregnancy really.

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 17:26

That makes sense VS. I think though if any of our waters broke at this stage they would probably induce within the 72 hours. Only 20% of women's waters break before the go into labour and if that happens apparently it is quite likely when you're in bed... doesn't mean it won't happen when you're in your local Sainsburys but it's rare...

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 17:32

No such thing as "legally obliged to induce you".

Current NICE and RCOG guidelines state "Women with prelabour rupture of the membranes (PROM) at term (>37 weeks) should be offered a choice of immediate induction of labour or expectant management. Expectant management of women with prelabour rupture of the membranes at term should not exceed 96 hours following membrane rupture".

Many hospitals have a 24 hour or 48 hour policy, though.

? 86% of women with PROM at term will be in spontaneous labour within 23 hours
? 91% will be in spontaneous labour within 47 hours
? 94% will be in spontaneous labour within 95 hours

The fact my waters had gone was definitely a factor in them not wanting to let my labour go on too long, which was one reason they decided to augment with syntocinon, which is probably one reason I ended up with a c-section.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 17:36

Can I just say to all you ladies that haven't had bad experiences and done a million times more research because of them to make sure that at anytime anyone caring for you in your labour says they want to perform some kind of medical intervention, be it drugs, induction, instruments etc that you ask why first and what will happen if you don't.

One of the biggest reasons for emergency CS is probably medical intervention.

There is no set time for you to labour in, each body is different and it's down to you to make any decisions, no-one else.

Peachy · 07/03/2008 17:39

ok - phone number

Was going to post same as PAL, legally obliged my arse- all they're legally able to insist on is that you don't deliver with an unqualified atendee deliberately (that person actinga s MW is the criminal, not you). And that your egister the baby. Child protection alw comes into it but the rest is just your decision. AIMs have lots on this.

Ok phone number for this thread (and lets face it the reads move so fast they're safe anyhow LOL)- 07963222741. It's my dads old phone he gave me and nobody uses at all- purely exists as a maternity panic alert I think (I am allergic to mobiles LOL)

Peachy · 07/03/2008 17:41

As VS said- also ask them if you can have 10 minutes to consider it, unless its life saving that should be fine and will actually make it harder for them to put pressure on you. If you'd like a pain releif free birth as well but are worried you'll panic, do what i've done and put in your birth plan that if you request epidural (or whatever) you be asked again after ten minutes before it is adminsistered- I know from experience that I panic at transition.

ThePFJ · 07/03/2008 17:43

Hello again girls!

BTW.. Ellie I have a sling with a cd rom.. I saw it the other night and almost had the cat in there. And I seem to be a bit fatter all over this week. I think I need to STOP eating minieggs.
Toastaddict.. aww so funny about the laundry/waters breaking.. bless.
Port and Lemon.. LOVE the names your ds came up with.

I havent read everything posted since I was last on.. forgive me. Babys head keeps popping in and out of deeply engaged at the moment. I feel sick and have the runs.
Lots of pains down there and its hard to walk at all now.
I feel so run down.
EVERYONE keeps saying Jack will arrive early.. but what if he doesnt?? I hope this is just a bad few days because I cant cope with this much longer
Blehhhhhhhhhh
Whinge. Whine. Moan.
Thanks for letting me gabble on.
Sigh.

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 17:44

Adds to VS's comment -- and make sure your DH/DP/birth partner knows as well. I knew all that stuff, and most of the staff were great, but there was one registrar who got right up my nose and was hell-bent on giving me syntocinon and eventually I was just too tired to argue about it any more and DH was too clueless (in a nice way, should he ever find himself reading this) to argue.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 17:46

Just so we all know where to find it.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 18:10

How wonderful is this
I hope we al have births like it!

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 18:13

I have insisted with my doc that I want to avoid intervention as much as I can but that with regards to pain relief she should tell me when the point of no return is for an epidural... It's all written in my notes. Maybe I should type it up also on an A4 page in big letters to make it clear. She is a very nice Doc though and is all for putting the mother at the centre of the birth... so fingers crossed...

when the baby kicks or squirms as is more the case now it can be quite uncomfortable... I'm off out for INdian tonight, will just have a mild korma though, don't want this LO arriving too soon!

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 18:23

Is that video for real? she's so calm!

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 18:28

So now I've watched another bunch of those birthing videos on youtube and I'm literally balling me eyes out. DH will be home from work soon and think I'm an emotional wreck again!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 18:34

Ha, I'm trying to refrain from crying, DD should be getting dropped off anytime soon so I don;t want to be balling!

ThePFJ · 07/03/2008 19:21

I just saw that vid.. wow.. is that REAL?
Blimey.

ThePFJ · 07/03/2008 19:24

My DP is going out til very late tonight. I have his number just in case, but I feel a bit lonely. Time to call my mum I think.
-so tired and emotional-
