They do get stretch marks after boob ops if the implant is too big.
A few friends of mine have had boob jobs and the only ones who didn't get marks were those that had already had children and therefore their boobs had extra skin iyswim.

ToastAddict · 07/03/2008 14:28

Well, at the moment, the only marks on my boobs are on the underneath, I'm figuring after the whole pg/bf thing, they'll be sagging beautifully, so I'll never see the marks anyway!!!

EllieG · 07/03/2008 14:33

I haven't got any stretch marks yet - DP rather kindly said that this was perhaps because my skin already had a 'bit of give'. My friend has LOADS and I like to think this is payback for her having a sickeningly toned stomach for her whole adult life up until now. Having said that, her LO's are 9 weeks now and they have faded masively, so it looks like they don't stay around for long even if you do get them.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:44

If they aren't sagging now, they won't sag after.
Bfing causing sagging is a myth, it's pregnancy, the ligaments in your breasts, kind of where your bra straps go stretch with extra weight and quick growth and if supported by good bras will be fine.
My boobs still don't sag and I'm on my third.
They may feel like they are saggy when feeding, or look saggy at times when you have just fed because they aren't as full and have a kind of deflated look but mine went back to normal at about 4/5? months post-bfing.
Also they look f*ing great when they are full! Instant boob job/lift

Carey87 · 07/03/2008 14:47

got a question and slighlty embarassed about it, so please no one laugh ok?.....

when your waters break, does it smell???

just worried about being at work and this happening as office is really open plan and there is about 100 people that sit in front of me. I know this is probably the last thing that should be on my mind but I'm actually really worried about it

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 14:49

no it doesnt smell but there will be ALOT of it!

Carey87 · 07/03/2008 14:51

thats ok then, but they dont always break do they?

i only have two weeks left at work, after that I dont care even if they go in the middle of tesco's!

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 14:51

mine haven't broken until 10 mins before baby was out; some people weeks before - think its quite individual.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:53

I want mine to go when I'm outside.
I want to save my carpets.

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 14:54

i'm going to put a cover over my mattress this week.

Carey87 · 07/03/2008 14:54

VS thats what Im thinking

maybe the weather will be nice enough to be ableto sit out in the garden by then

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:58

I don't mind if they go whilst I'm in bed, It gives me an excuse to get a new one, plus the floor is wooden, but the rest of my house is creamy beige carpets.

I'm tempted to get a spare sim card and put it in an old phone so we can have a number to text if we have the baby and it can be posted as people keep disappearing!

Where is Paranoidmummy again???

Carey87 · 07/03/2008 15:00

oooooo thats a really good idea!

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 15:01

They don't normally go until you're already in labour. Mine did go with DS as the first thing to happen (as I was getting out of bed) but that's relatively unusual.

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 15:03

I'll leave it to see if anyone already has an old phone with a number they don't mind being up on here but if no-one has posted one by next week I'll get one off ebay.

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 15:06

Ellie -- are you on Facebook with a photo of you in a short-sleeved white top and a pink(?) scarf in your hair?

sagitta · 07/03/2008 15:09

Hello all - been away in Rome for work - and had a weeks' worth of this threat to catch up on - has taken me ages!

Glad things are looking better with DH, Scorpio,
hope you have some news on house soon Knitter,
I am also craving raw broccoli (well raw, steamed, boiled, baked any kind really) Chipmonkey. And sweet things. Anything sweet.
Very touching mothers day, Ellie,
welcome everyone who is new....

I haven't been very well - too much work - and too tired so I took a day off yesterday, which was heavenly. I really feel that I can't cope at the moment, which is horrible cos if I can't cope now, how the fuck am I going to cope when LO turns up? Went to the physio this morning which was painful, and now of course my back hurts more than it did before...
Have been too busy to see the MW for ages, so hope LO is OK...starting to feel worried and guilty. But my boss won't talk to me about when I can take maternity leave, so I am starting to panic about that, and work, and everything...

Soph73 · 07/03/2008 15:19

Hi Sagitta, was wondering where you were. Sorry to hear you feeling a bit down & hope you feel better soon Re: stretch marks I only got a couple with DS1 so & can´t see any at the mo so hopefully going to get away with it

Soph73 · 07/03/2008 15:20

Well, it´s nearly time to go and have to get a little more work in. Last week before Easter hols next week - hurray! Have good weekends everyone. Soph xxxx

northeastmummy · 07/03/2008 15:24

Thanks for the cake recipe Knitter - must give that a try this weekend!

Great idea about the phone VS. I've already got a friend geared up to post for me if things start happening - but she's due about the same time so maybe not too reliable!!

Peachy · 07/03/2008 15:50

Stretch MArks are determined genetically, unless there is specific trauma- so I was told my the MW with ds1. Sadly I ahd none until just before ds1 was induced when i swelled up with oedema so badly I ahd over s atone of fluid in there and therefore caused trauma- drat!

What's that with the phone? Cab't find the post but I have one that never gets used if that helps as a contact point?

EllieG · 07/03/2008 15:53

Hi sagitta -
You will be great when LO comes. At the moment you are knackered, heavily PG and have loads on. Of course you are not feeling on top form. Have you thought about getting signed off for a bit? Sod work - I know you have lots to do, but if anything happens to you or the LO it's not like work are going to be around to pick up the pieces, or give you a medal for maytrdom or antthing (sorry for spelling, it's all gone to pot).
Sit your boss down and tell him a. you need to go easy and b. you need a date for maternity leave. And be kind to yourself please, you're doing the best you can x

PAL - yes, 'tis me! Will you be my friend?

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 15:53

Thats what we were thinking Peachy, if someone has an old phone we could post the number, maybe put it on our 'List' then when anyone has any news they can text it so it can be posted on their behalf.

Obviously you'll have to text someone else if it's you though

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 16:00

I'll be updating Facebook if anything happens, and Ellie is about to be my friend so should know...

sagitta · 07/03/2008 16:05

Thanks Ellie!
I've asked my boss to work this out so many times, but she keeps postponing it. But to be honest, as I'm self employed, I'm just going to stop when I want - I just didn't want to leave her in the lurch...
Think I just need some more rest, really.
I watched casablanca yesterday lunch time on DVD - and felt very guilty. When I went to pick up DD, I got pulled over by the police (mistake on their part) but my first thought was "I'm in trouble because they knew I took time off and watched a film this afternoon"!!
