Oh, I have to sort out my TENS machine today! Does everyone hire them? It seems like it might be worth in buying one if going to use it again for other kids (?)

Peachy · 07/03/2008 11:45

Something i have totally forgotten- Tens! must chat to sister....

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 11:45

Oh by the way, do your kegels!!!!

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 11:47

or else invest in one of these LOL

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 11:47

I hired mine ... for 6 weeks with re-usable pads. But this will be my last child so is my best option. I do agree to look into buying one if you are going to use it a few times and they are also good for back pains too (something to consider). Saying that, I have no idea how much they are to buy ...

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 11:48

lol Mollyfloss - I am performing my kegels as I type now¬!!

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 11:50

I just looked at the Mothercare website and they rent them for £29.99 and sell them from £49.99...

Here's what they have TENS

Would anyone recommend particular one?

northeastmummy · 07/03/2008 11:51

Mollyfloss you are a god send ... I would NEVER remember without your daily reminders.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 07/03/2008 11:52

Hello everyone - I was suuuuch a tired bunny yesterday that I had to leave work early (a 1st for me!) I got home at about 5pm and slept right through. Feel much better now! I just can't wait for the 14th now - last day at work and then 6 weeks to sleep in! Am going to make sure I rest as much as possible!

Gosh Peachy - I am sure that's not legal is it?? Especially as your DH gave the required notice and quite frankly, I think paternity leave should take precedence over someone else's holiday! I would be steaming if this was happening to me! Do let us know how this gets resolved!

northeastmummy · 07/03/2008 11:52

I used the Elle tens last time and have hired one again as it did such a good job. I've heard lots of other people rave about them too.

You can rent them for cheaper (and possibly a bit easier - I gave up on mothercare last time) on lots of other sites online.

Soph73 · 07/03/2008 12:04

I´m back. Sam is head down, face facing my spine and arms crossed over his face, spine on my left hand side, bum on right hand side. So we have some lovely 3D piccies of his bits & nothing else Everything is perfect though & we briefly got to see his profile, which is better than nothing.

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 12:05

Thanks NEM, I'll have a look around...

I'm so tired right now I'm considering a nap and I hardly ever nap... zzzzzzzz

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 12:36

Arghhh, my driving licence is here DP is going to make me drive now I know it.

I have a real lazy day ahead of me today and feel lost already!

DP is going out straight from owrk for his mates leaving do and I don't have to pick DD up from school as she is going to a friends for tea and will be home about 7. As of two o'clock I'm going to feel really strange cos I'm normally going to get DD and then home to do dinner for DP getting in etc.
Weird.

EllieG · 07/03/2008 13:29

Oh crap typed a lovely post and deleted it by accident.

Gist was:

at peachy's DH's boss.

LOL at trainee doc. My sister's BF is doc and when he was trainee he went to a birth and fell in the birthing pool!

I had a scan today and baby is head down, face outwards, not engaged yet but plenty time.

She was also diong lots of sucking movements which made me

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 13:30

VS, I'd go out for a few little drives by yourself over the weekend if I were you, before having passengers. I remember the first time I drove on my own, it was to work and I had to sit outside for 5 mins when I got there before I went in, because I was shaking so much with all the concentration!

I'm eating sugar free fruit cake, I had it at a friend's house the other day and got the recipe from her. It's really easy to make and apart from the butter it's pretty healthy, here's the recipe if you're interested.I've decided I'm going to mke a few & stick them in the freeer, should be a good thing to grab a slice of to keep me going if the baby decides it's feed time when I should be eating.

9oz water
1/2 tsp bicarb of soda
1lb mixed fruit/veg (I used carrot, currants & sultanas. Might use more carrot & less fruit next time as it's quite sweet)
8oz Self raising wholemeal flour
4oz butter/marg
1/2 tsp mixed spice
2 eggs

Put water, spice, fat, bicarb and fruit/veg into a pan. Bring to boil & boil for 5 mins. Cool.
Preheat oven to 160c, 150c fan oven or gas mark 3.
Stir in eggs and flour. Beat well.
Put into 9" cake tin or 2lb loaf tin.
Bake for 1hr - 1hr 15 until a skewer comes out clean.

Will not keep more than about 5 days so cut into two & freeze half. (That's what the recipe says, in reality the whole thing def won't make it to 5 days old in this house!)

EllieG · 07/03/2008 13:32

LOL at the idea of a cake being left! Cakes don't last 5 mins in my house!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 13:38

Knitter, I should maybe have clarified, my provisional licence.

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 13:46

oops sorry, then I absoloutely forbid you from going for a few drives on your own!

ToastAddict · 07/03/2008 13:58

Hi all,

Last day at work
But seeing as I thought I had til next week, am a bit panicked getting everything done

moment yesterday - DH got a good view of the new batch of stretch marks that have appeared at the base of my belly - looked then leant towards my bump and said "what are you doing in there? You're turning your mummy into a tiger!"

How's that for supportive??

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 07/03/2008 14:00

Hee hee TA - that was pretty cute actually!

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:03

LOL TA, I think it's pretty cute too.
I don't even think of stretch marks tbh, I've never had them too bad and they soon disappear anyway, plus I already had two children, stretch marks and a great big fuck off scar from my belly button to my pubic bone when I met DP, so at least these were his bloody fault!

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 14:13

i don't have any stretchmarks (yet, fingers crossed!!)my DF had them quite bad, but used bio-oil and you can hardly tell anymore

Just back from town with pic 'n' mix

VictorianSqualor · 07/03/2008 14:16

I think getting big quite early on helped with not getting really awful stretch marks for me, rather than suddenly ballon at 5/6 months I show by about 6 weeks and get progressively bigger and bigger so my skin probably has more time to stretch.
Could be very wrong of course, but I know people who have been tiny until 5/6 months then gotten huge and their skin practically tore.

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 14:20

I'm getting a few around my belly button now, just over the last few days. They all faded after DS without using anything so I'm not bothered (also my bikini days never existed are long gone).

ToastAddict · 07/03/2008 14:21

Hmmmm, I don't understand the stretch marks thing, I almost think it actually has nothing to do with stretching, as such, more to do with the hormones or something. Reason being, I have really small boobs, yes they have grown a bit during pg, but really not much. Yet I have a gorgeous purple mark on the underside of each.

But women have boob jobs and increase in size far more than I have, and I assume they don't get the marks??

I'm not that bothered, I'm assuming they will fade, they just ain't very pretty at the mo. DH isn't bothered in the slightest, just a bit shocked!
