Well done PFJ! Enjoy watching the floor being laid (sounds exciting!)

EllieG · 07/03/2008 09:32

I have ante natal today I like hearing the LO heartbeat

Carey87 · 07/03/2008 09:36

KITN - that is really interesting!!! Makes me feel a bit better now

Sheds75 · 07/03/2008 09:54

knitter/Denny should we do lunch then???

am feeling a bit apprehensive today, only 3 and a bit weeks until LO is due. Was awake for hours last night just thinking about how much our lives wil change and if I'll be able to cope with looking after something so small and fragile

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 09:56

Ellie - i like going to the MW too; i am going next Wednesday. My HB appt will be very soon too, eek. 35 weeks today

I have a really strong urge to clean, i want to clean the sofas and clean behind my wardrobe....Have been quite peroiody the last few days but i know i have at least 4 weeks left..Getting a bit fed up with it now tbh.

Well, some good news here. DH has decided to wait to see Zac until the bank holiday in May; much better. His mother was pushing for him to come down for a week on 21st april!! (due 11th). Kev understood which was good. at least a few days wont be too bad.

Had nice curry out last night, was home and in bed by 10

Hope all is well?

Peachy · 07/03/2008 10:27

Mornin' all!

Dh's employers decided to annunce he can't have apternity leave today- grr! it's illegal of course, but we now have to follow a grievance procedure (with not exactly loads of time- am 37 weeks on Sunday) and if Dh just ups and goes he's vulnerable to being sacked (although the wrongful dismissal claim would no doubt be massive as legally they've no leg to stand on, we followed all the procedures).

No doubt they'll back down with a bollocking though!
They love to try it on. Its just because its the Easter period I think.

All Ok otherwise though- more crmaps but I generally just ignore them now (am certain I will end up delivering alone as will be there with baby half out going 'its just a false alarm' LOL). Have scan on Thursday to check position, and presumably growtha s baby measuring a bit small but thats the norm for me. Bought a small baby size sleepsuit JIC, vcoz if the placenta was failing (it was this stage with ds1) they'd presumably induce. Bet all is fine though- he seems active enough!

velbels · 07/03/2008 10:46

Peachy just to check, your DH has been in the same job since you got pregnant?
Mine moved jobs since i was pregnant and definately isn't entitled to any paternity leave, we are using annual leave for a week instead.

Mollyfloss · 07/03/2008 10:46

Knitter: If your book is right then most of the weight goes fairly quickly and the only bit we'll have to make an effort to lose is the maternal fat which is 2.5kg or 5.5 lbs... I have a feeling I might have a bit more maternal fat than that eyt I've put on about 30lbs...

I'm a bit of a wreck today.. what I would do to sleep more than two hors in a row just for one night... but I better get used to it. Apparently with breastfeeding you feed the baby at the beginning every 2 to 3 hours so until she settles down a bit there's no continuity of sleep for me... that could be months off... still I can't wait til she arrives!!!

Do you actually feel a lot lighter though in the first few days? I mean it must be easier to bend down and turn over in bed which weighs less on the hips and hence makes them less achy...?

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 10:47

Peachy's DH has been in the same job for five years...

Saw your other thread, Peachy, they sooooooo do not have a leg to stand on. that they actually pay those HR people who appear not to know the first thing about their jobs.

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 10:48

it is weird, molly - you still feel the baby kicking for a couple of days!! Prob wont be able to sleep on front if your boobs hurt...and your tummy will be very spongy and saggy

Make sure you have painkillers for after pains as well.

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 10:51

oh and bloody nursery AGAIN - i get billed first of every month, picked it up today.

£204 for 17.5 hours

They have put down too many hours, good luck i write it in my diary isn't it. Looks like they have overcharged by at least £70.

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2008 10:52

Mollyfloss, it's a Dorling Kindersley book so am assuming it to tell nothing but the truth! I think I've got more than 5.5lbs of maternal fat to burn too, but really not fussed as I've always been a bigger girl anyway and my weight does it's own thing. (not helped by being diabetic and also having an underactive thyroid, all good fun).

I was pondering the feeling lighter after birth thing too, and came to the conclusion that we probably will, but won't take much notice of it because of tiny shouty distractions and the fact that OTHER things will be quite hurty instead!

PortAndLemon · 07/03/2008 10:53

You do feel a lot lighter. Can't comment on the turning over as had c-section which made it painful to turn over or sit up in bed (and then whooping cough on top of c-section... at least that won't be happening again)

velbels · 07/03/2008 10:56

Bah to nursery and Peaches DH job, as if there isn't there enough going on atm for you without dealing with more?!

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 10:57

i'm picking jamie up at 11.30 so will chat to them then, there is no way they are right. This isn't the first time either.....

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 10:58

Good morning!

Oh Peachy, what a nasty lot your DHs bosses are - how rude to say that he isn't allowed any paternity leave ... give 'em heaps and make them sorry for saying it .

I haven't had cramps for ages - just lots of BH which, strangely enough, I am rather enjoying. Lets hope your baby doesn't make a solo appearance Peachy! Although I come on here lately waiting for the news that one of us lovely ladies has had their baby ! Oh and hope your scan is all ok too .

Hope everyone is ok (taking me ages to type this , and a nice man has just delivered my 'blooming marvellous' maternity cami and shorts sets, yay) - haven't done a proper catch up yet today as have been busy making Charlie & Lola mobiles with dd and such wonderful things like that. And am off for a late lunch with a friend this arvo - hooray!

Oh and Scorpio - I was in bed with light out at 8.30pm () last night as the previous two nights I had had bad nights!!!

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 10:59

oh - look at all these new posts that I missed - ARGHHH ... off I go to catch up!

Peachy · 07/03/2008 11:05

It's not the most useful Nursery is it Scorpio?!

Can't remember feeling lighter, think was as the other poster said- you're so caught up in stuff that you don't notice. I remember a Trainee Dr being called in to see ds3's delivery (just made it, such a fast 2nd stage!) and poking my jelly baby very gingerly afterwards looking traumatised whilst Dh and i silently POSL. . Why did he expect? Immediate muscle tone?
I'm looking forwards to seeing what happens to a specific part afterwards- had a small fibroma lump between my breasts (TMI)- only small but now sits a goof 4 inches lower than my breasts LOL- want to see where that ends up! (it's not obvious, I have a few but the scars if you have them removed are more noticeable tbh).

Peachy · 07/03/2008 11:07

BTW

anyone think its a hint that for the first time ever, my fruit box today contains pineapple LOL..........

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 11:07

i know, i have had a few small things wrong with them, but their care is so good, people lovely and kids love it there, so have to outweigh it.

Peachy · 07/03/2008 11:12

That's ultimately more important of course.

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 11:15

lol at the pineapple .. mind you, I have bought a couple myself in the last week or so

scorpio1 · 07/03/2008 11:15

oooh get eating that pineapple!! Millie is on my left side all the time now - can't remember - is that good? She is back to front as well.

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 11:18

I don't know if on the left is good or not - but my lo is head down (not engaged yet as doc told me it was still 'free' yesterday), bum up, back along the left and hands and feet out to the right (where all the action is of course) .. love it!

TheMaskedPoster · 07/03/2008 11:38

Yay - my TENS machine has just arrived ... aren't they dinky!?!
