I think I've disappeared from the list!

Is this a sign!!

God I'm depressed today.

Sheds75 · 06/03/2008 13:44

Scorpio, I know what you mean, one of mine never shuts up, and insists on sleeping on my hip

ToastAddict · 06/03/2008 13:48

Hi all,

M/w said to relax (I've taken day off work) and to call labour suite if I get pains/cramps again - apparently before 37 weeks, midwives aren't allowed to do vaginal check, has to be done by hospital dr?

Anyway, did get more cramps, hospital said to take paracetamol and see if it went away - which it did, but was kind of a "come and go" pain anyway. I'm to call them again if I get it again.

To top things off - was sat on chair in kitchen, got up and noticed that cushion was wet! Shouted "FUCK, my waters have broken", DH came running through (very calm, which bodes well!!) and told me he had dumped a load of wet washing on the chair earlier!! My waters have not broken, but OMG, I panicked!!!

Have decided I really don't want to go back to work, so will go in tomorrow and finish. Dare say I will get bored with 6 weeks still to go, but don't think I can handle feeling this stressed about it all.... the reality of labour is starting to hit home

Mollyfloss · 06/03/2008 14:14

hi! Had my overdue scan this morning and baby is in perfect position for delivery and deeply engaged which doesn't necessarily mean I'll go early but doc says when she comes it could be fast so I should contact them as soon as I have contractions. We were supposed to go away for a couple of nights at Easter about 1.5 hrs from London but doc advised against it if she came then I may not have enough time to get back so we cancelled. I don't mind as I'm too excited now. Baby weighs about 5 lbs now and doc would expect her to weigh about 7 lbs by the time she's born.

bunnyrabbit · 06/03/2008 14:17

When are you due Molly?

Sheds75 · 06/03/2008 14:18

wow Molly that's great news! you could be our first!

EllieG · 06/03/2008 14:18

LOL at waters breaking TA! That's just the kind of thing that I would do!

Sounds sensible to stop if you are feeling stressy. Much more important to relax and just think about you and the little 'un

EllieG · 06/03/2008 14:25

Forgot to say - embarressing thing happened last night - I was looking on the CD Rom freedom slings sent me and working out how to do sling, which did. Then went upstairs and started practicing with teddy bear and was prancing round pretending was a baby when DP walked in caught me he laughed LOTS and I was very red

Mollyfloss · 06/03/2008 14:28

I'm due April 13th so would like her to stay inside another bit. She could still come late but will in any case probably come fast ( not a long labour). Still I told him we are going to friends an hour outside London next week and he said I ight get my main doc to do an internal exam first! he was sacnnee doc and I have an apt with my own obstetrician next we'd so will be interesting to see what she says.

bunnyrabbit · 06/03/2008 14:32

Well in that case I agree about not going to far from home.... depending on wether you mind giing birth in whichever hospital you happen to be nearest too.

We're supposed to be at a friand about 2 hours away over Easter and have decided not to go for the same reason.

BR

northeastmummy · 06/03/2008 14:33

Crikey Molly - what makes them think your baby will come fast? I didn't think they were able to tell that kind of thing beforehand? .

My baby's having a good old poke around this afternoon. Made me jump a couple of times and I felt a foot poking out so I got a good rub of that before it disappeared.

EllieG · 06/03/2008 14:50

I'm putting on weight really quickly at the moment - I thought was supposed to slow down now - is anyone else or is it just me eating all the pies?

northeastmummy · 06/03/2008 15:31

Your baby is probably having a spurt Ellie - I wouldn't worry!

Carey87 · 06/03/2008 15:45

hi, 7monthsplus 38, north wales expecting a girl (1st baby) 8th April

moominsmummy · 06/03/2008 15:52

lol toast addict at waters breaking!!

northeastmummy · 06/03/2008 16:13

Hello Carey and 7months. It's very quiet on here this afternoon. Not sure where everyone is.

Mollyfloss · 06/03/2008 16:22

I think because the baby is so well engaged it could be a fast labour. They never really know of course and I don't think she will just pop out but he just said to call when contractions start not to wait around...

EllieG · 06/03/2008 16:30

Very exciting molly!

Hello carey and 7months nice to have you here.

Thank you NEM, that was exactly the right thing to say!

Carey87 · 06/03/2008 16:31

ive just been on the pregnancy thread and v quiet there too

Cx

Carey87 · 06/03/2008 16:33

quick question - when are the lo's supposed to engage?

midwife said baby was not engaged yet (im only 33 weeks and thought that it was at least 36 till they did)

VictorianSqualor · 06/03/2008 16:34

Just got back from parents evening and have a little glow about my perfect daughter

Yet again the teacher told me how much she loves her, how happy she is that she was in her class for the second year running.

Apparently she is top of the class in her literacy and numeracy.

Just her bloody handwriting needs sorting, she said she should get top marks for her SAT's in May but she thnks she might get lower because no-one can read her writing so we've all got to work on it hardcore before then.

She also told me pregnancy 'suits me'
Yep, I have a head that looks like a roof so the rest of me looking like a house is just perfect

VictorianSqualor · 06/03/2008 16:36

Carey, it can engage anytime between now and labour, with first baby it normally engages by around 36weeks(ish) but isn't a problem if it doesnt til labour.

EllieG · 06/03/2008 16:41

Well done VS and clever VS DD!
We have parent's evening in 2 weeks time for DSD. Tbh am not looking forward to it much - she is lovely and I imagine no trouble, but such a forgetful little soul, a complete dreamer that it makes her very slow to complete things. We try and get her to concentrate but I think they will say it needs a bit more work - I get a bit frustrated though, because I can't be at her shoulder telling her to concentrate when she's at school can I? Surely the teacher needs to do that? It annoys me because they moan at us when she forgets to bring her homework home, but she gets no sanctions at school. We can only remind her so much.

Carey87 · 06/03/2008 16:41

thats ok then, i swear it trying to poke a hand through today! Went to hospital last night as we had a slight gush and they poked and proded, and the midwife said that head wasnt engaged but still said it could come early

so now a little worried that things arent going to be ready!
