Hi ladies,

I've just been catching up after a hectic couple of days

PFJ: I have been in fits laughing at the Mary testing story to the point where it hurts! Oh by the way PFJ, my LO gets hiccups all the time too!

NCT teacher told us some overdue ladies take a mix of castor oil, almond paste (or peanut butter) with prune juice or apricot juice then followed by downing a glass of champagne...!

This sweet tooth is really something. I hover around anything sweet in the supermarket, put some stuff in my basket, put it back, pick it up again etc. This goes on for a while until I finally give in. I must look like a nutter! I never had a sweet tooth before - always have loved stodgy carbs though

I'm a crap sleeper too. Those achy hips have me up every couple of hours. I have to do my swinging the hips thing to get them back in place. Oh well, I suppose it is all training for when the little one arrives...

I finally got around to watching Dawn gets a baby last night. It's funny but made me really emotional too. Couldn't stop crying after the births. Poor DH thinks I'm a nutter! It also sort of turned me off the birthing pool a bit...

I'm feeling really stretched and oh yes and apparently I'm waddling now too - a real sexy Mama here

northeastmummy · 05/03/2008 16:50

My DD wasn't very contained at all - in fact the first sign of poo and I had to literally rush to the changing mat in the hope of saving her outfit. But I never had a problem with stains - just threw her stuff in the washing machine with the usual detergent and they all came out fine.

Soph - HOW lovely!!!!?

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 16:53

Yeah... I suppose I should wait and see.. I bet half the stuff I have in the nursery already wont be used.. but I couldnt help but try and prepare!

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 16:56

Aww Molly.. glad the donkey cheered you up.
I KNOW how you feel about the hips thing. I have to change the side I am sleeping on every few hours, and my bladder wakes me up too. So between achy hips and bladder ache.. its SO much fun isnt it!?

northeastmummy · 05/03/2008 16:56

I have one of those PFJ but it's still in its packet. I could never bring myself to use it ... eeeewww. What is it about snot? I know I'm not alone in finding it to be the worst of the fluids that come out of babies.

And Molly, I found that about the pool too. I'm not a big fan of baths and loved my tens so was generally not keen on the idea of getting in the water. I was starting to sway a bit though because so many people love it ... and now I'm right off it again.

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 16:56

Ewww... my cat just farted. HELP...

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 16:58

Exactly NEmummy..
And with the pool thing.. the idea of feeling 'clean' in the water.. all being rinced etc. makes me want to go in.. but so much else makes me think no way!
Can't make up my mind either!

Mollyfloss · 05/03/2008 17:09

The thing is I like baths and water in general but it might annoy me when in pain. This is an awful thing to say but those ladies looked so unattractive in the pool it just completely turned me off. I know I will be a mess when giving birth but if I have a t-shirt down to my thighs I'll at least be covering up the worst bits. I know everyone is now going to tell me that I won't give a damn... but still it was really off putting... I hope the TENS works well. i still have to buy one...

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 17:11

I suppose you could wear a long tshirt in the pool? There is nothing to stop you right?? hmmm...

Mollyfloss · 05/03/2008 17:17

I suppose I could or I have a long bikini maternity top. But then I doubt i would actually give birth in the pôol, I think I would get out before then and then my hair would be sopping and sticking to me (I have long hair) so just don't know... I think if I'm not in the pool I'll wear just a short strappy nightie or long vest like top...

Mollyfloss · 05/03/2008 17:19

What do you think possessed those two women to let the bbc film their births anywayN and their first at that! I wouldn't in a million years

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 17:20

I am planning on wearing a long tshirt (my DP's 5XL's should be big enough :O) or a large button up long shirt, for the skin-skin/first breast feed... That way I won't feel too exposed, and my clothes won't feel tight or restrictive. I 'hope' this is a good plan.. >.

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 17:22

I have no idea Mollyfloss.. its bad enough for me that ANYONE will be there.. but since the MW and my DP will be there, with my mum outside/coming in and out.. thats quite enough isnt it?! hehe

Mollyfloss · 05/03/2008 17:26

I think that's nice that you will have your Mum coming and going. I thought about asking mine but am not sure that my DH would like it... he gets on great with my Mum but probably sees it more as just a couples thing...

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 17:37

If my mother was at all controlling then I would have said no.. but my DP gets on well with her and she's just always so nice to me and excited for me. She's more like a good friend than a mum mostly. Most of my friends mums are completely NOT the sort of mum I'd want in the delivery room.. but thats just me.

moominsmummy · 05/03/2008 17:40

they probably asked these unsuspecting people when they were alread in labour - I know I wouldn't have given a toss if the News at Ten crew was broadcasting live to the entire nation at the time - just as that lovely anaethetist was hanging around with the epidural top up.........

as for clothes - i seem to remember finding them quite irritating and just took them all off anyway (the medical staff like this as it's easier to get at various bits of you as necessary)

PFJ - don't bother with the aspirator at all - don't work - better off getting saline drops from the pharmacist as they dissolve the bogeys (bit like if you have a cry or your nose runs from a hot curry when you have a cold - clears out the bogeys)

of course in many countries mum just puts her mouth over the baba's nose and sucks it all out.......

Sheds75 · 05/03/2008 17:41

Knitter & Denny the Salt Cellar sounds good to me, I have no time restrictions so am happy to meet whenever!!

VictorianSqualor · 05/03/2008 17:43

I'd happily let them film me in labour tbh. Wouldn't bother me a jot.
May even email Dawn and ask her if she wants to see a VBA2C (might meen they let me go longer as well)

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 17:50

moominsmummy.. that last thing you said... EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! >.<
Just.. I mean.. ack.. thats so... WRONG!

moominsmummy · 05/03/2008 18:01

GrinGrin

ThePFJ · 05/03/2008 18:04

You know.. my appetite is so much better now. For most of my pregnancy I could hardly eat. But now here I sit, less than 3 weeks to go and I could eat ALL day.
I think I fancy some boiled egg and soldiers.. and jelly with fruit for afters!
See you later girls!
xxx

Mollyfloss · 05/03/2008 18:14

moomsinmummy: double eeeewwwwwww

They filmed the first girl throughout her last 6 weeks so she had time to think about it. She was a little bit nutty anyway. I reckon the second one didn't really know what she was letting herself in for. I think she might regret it. They're really wasn't much left to the imagination. Well done to them both though...

VS: I think you're mad but go on, e-mail Dawn! - can you imagine, we'd all be glued to the TV!!!

Denny185 · 05/03/2008 18:47

Id want a v large financial incentive to show my muff on tv!

Sheds and Knitter, just checked the address, its on the Holmes Chapel road, opens at 11 ans start serving food at 12. Do you want to want to do lunch or just coffee (or both?)

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 05/03/2008 19:06

Evening all... Now I know I will love my baby very much, but quite frankly the thought of sucking snot from his/her nose makes me want to vom! There are some hardcore chicks out there that's for sure!

Whoever was asking about black dressing gowns - I got mine from Mothercare the other day for £12. Not sure if they sell online, but worth a look! The black bottomed pj's looked nice, but the top is light - I'm just worried you will be able to see my boobs through the fabric! But then again now I thinking what should concern me more - seeing my boobs or seeing puke all over my top?? LOL I'm sure this stuff is unnecesaary worry.

I'm so glad the tone on here has been quite light hearted today as I really need cheering up. One of my close friends has just been diagnosed with a tumor on her pituitary gland. She is in shock and of course very emotional and I just feel soooooo sad for her. It is early days yet, so not sure what's going to happen or what the plan is, but I so hope she is going to be okay.

Denny185 · 05/03/2008 19:18

Thats v sad news M2B2BR, hope the prognosis is good
