Hello ladies, the last thread appeared to run out, I hope you all don't mind me being so bold as to start a new one?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronshar · 05/03/2008 12:38

Bethoo, what did he mean by that? Is it because of the sound confusing baby? I dont think I have ever heard that before. Now I am curious. I always thought that the heart was so small that there wasnt anything to hear before this time anyway. Obviously wrong again{grin]

belgo · 05/03/2008 12:41

it's belgo, not bethoo

I've also never heard that before, so I was surprised when she said it. Maybe I should start another thread about it asking if anyone knows about it.

bethoo · 05/03/2008 12:43

csws -= i think my body kind of went into shock as i was induced so it happened rather suddenly!!

i think the whole thing asbout doppler use at an early stage is incoclusive to whether there are long tern effects. i used my doppler wiht last pregnancy every day (i was obsessed as had had a mm/c previously!) and my son seems ok!! . the same is said about having scans too.

ronshar · 05/03/2008 12:43

Bugger I meant Belgo not Bethoo.
I have just had my booking form through the post. 13th March yipee.

bethoo · 05/03/2008 12:44

belgo - i think there may be confusion here! i used to get confused with all the jules we have too!!

just a day later then you bethoo

ronshar · 05/03/2008 12:58

Oooo Belgo you are same as me. I have just looked at the list. We should manage a baby every day through October. Keeping the NHS on its feet that month.
I am always 2weeks late so I should pop mine out around the 20th. Maybe I should add myself in twice

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2008 13:32

Welcome belgo .

Whilst we're on the subject of name confusion, can I please point out that it is sambrads, NOT sambrands. Sorry, but it's been unreasonably annoying me .

Well I've seen the m/w twice already, so would say it's normal to see her first, but it prob varies with postcode. I see the community m/w at the village surgery, but it might be diff if you see one at the hosp.

Has anyone else had their bloods taken yet btw? Had mine done this morning (just remembered the appointment in time!), but forgot to ask when/how I get the results back.

belgo · 05/03/2008 15:09

I'm in Belgium and the system seems to be slightly different here.

I got my BFP at about 4 and a half weeks pregnancy, and made myself an appointment with the GP and nurse for bloods and booking in. My bloods were taken at six weeks and confirmed pregnancy to be six weeks, which was reassuring.

I had a scan last week at eight weeks as I've had two miscarriages in the past and was anxious to know eyerything was alright, which it is so far.

Most pregnant women in Belgium see a gynaecologist during pregnancy. But I've chosen to see a midwife instead, as I don't see the point in paying a doctor to check my blood pressure and urine (it's all private care but everyone has some sort of insurance).

My next scan is in three weeks and I should be 12 weeks then.

PrePG · 05/03/2008 16:16

myjobismum My scan and booking in appointment are on the same day. Also, my stomach does ache on and off. I think it's just really the stretching though.

I saw the GP at about 5 weeks, but she didn't do much but send the info off to the hospital, so I'm assuming they'll take blood, etc at my booking in.

caramelbunny · 05/03/2008 16:31

myjobismum, I have my scan on 26 March. Letter says to allow 2 hours as will see midwife for booking in at same time. I'm having lots of aches and pains - lower back and stretching (I hope) in lower abdo.

Glad to hear confessions of poor cooking efforts. Fortunately my dd likes crisps and houmus

sambrads · 05/03/2008 17:02

hi ya cantsleepwontsleep thanks for pointing that out to everyone

so how is everyone today then???

bethoo do you mind me asking when you had a m mc ???

were can you buy a doppler from and how much are they???

went looking at double prams today i just cant help myself hahaha
well i was in mothercare and they have the hoxton which is a tandem and costs £200 i put my son in the front and could not lift it up as if i were going up a kerb .

then i put him into the phil and teds the man in the shop fixed the pram with the double seat at the front as if there was a new born underneath .

well my son looked far to big for it already so its not an option .

i think i will buy a buggy board and and put a harness on my ds as he runs off by himself already so we need to practice using that .

girls i am so afraid of loosing my indepenance having 2 kids and not being able to get out myself

bethoo · 05/03/2008 18:59

sambrads - i fee; i am one of the guilty ones in adding an n to your name!! sincere apologies!!

i had my mmc two months before i conceived Hayden so was in Deb/March 2006. i also had an early mc at 5 weeks in 2000.

i got my doppler from an internet shop on ebay for £25 and do not know how i would have coped with 7 months of not knowing what was going on inside me!!

sambrads · 05/03/2008 19:08

never worry about the name spelling i am a terrible speller anyway as im sure you all already know

i love the name hayden its lovely

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/03/2008 19:17

This is like my doppler - mine was about £60 or £70 new iirc.

Surely your son can't be too big for the P&T already sambrads?! I know boys who have used one until they are 4!

bethoo · 05/03/2008 19:32

sambrads - (see remembered about the n!!! ) thanks i like Hayden it is nice but not too common though saying that it is coming back in popularity. are you thinking about names yet? i am terrible for it.

i have been looking at double buggies and saw a nice one, pricey but it has my fave thing in that it has reversible seats like my single buggy. it is pricey and a side by sidey as i would prefer a tandem for getting out my ittle house and in the narrow shops. but some tandems as pointed out can be heavy where at the end so a bit weary at mo, the new graco tandem is anohter option as it looks quite compact as well as good price. ...check me out!!1 i am sad. only 9 weeks and plannign names and reading reviews on double buggies though i am thinking i have twins but will not know for sure until i find heartbeat (or heartbeats??) next week!!!

Ekka · 05/03/2008 20:32

bethoo I just keep looking at double buggies as well. Are you thinking about the first wheels city twin? That has the reversible seats etc and I love the look of it, despite the fact that I don't think it will fit through our front door ....

Really, really regret not getting a single buggy where I could reverse the seat, as dd gets quite grumpy in shops and is much better if I can see her and chat to her! Honestly, my dh thinks I'm absolutely crazy looking at buggies etc. We're only 6 weeks and lots could happen. Better hope its not twins - there aren't many triple buggies around and I doubt they'd fit in any shops

bethoo · 05/03/2008 20:39

Ekka - yes that is the one, it is gorgeous inst it? it said it fits through 90 cm doors so i am ging to measure my door!! i have a bebecar at the mo which is reversible, i love it as he can see me and i can chat to him and interact, i also have a regular folding buggy and he whinges in it as also the wind hits his face where when he is in the bigger one facing me he is protected from the wind etc iyswim?

AandMsmum · 05/03/2008 20:45

Hi everyone, have been really lazy and not even switched the computer on for a couple of days.

I'm not sure what to do about buggies, I love the buggy I have at the moment but my dd2 23 months when this little arrives, was thinking of getting some sort of sling thingy - any recommendations?

Also is anyone finding that their pregnancy brain made of goo has kicked in already? I went to the gym this morning and didn't have my purse so lady had to find my membership on the system, then went shopping afterwards, everything went through the till and I couldn't pay as again no purse!! I then had to walk all the way home and back again to collect my shopping.. What a thicky!!

I've had a really bad day and all I've wanted to do was sleep.. DD had other ideas, I put her to bed but she moaned and chatted for 30 mins until I resided myself to the fact that she was not going to sleep, I went to get her only to find that she'd managed to empty a drawer close to her cot, pulled out a bag of cottom wool pleats, torn said pleats in to teeny pieces and thrown them EVERYWHERE!! She looked ever so proud of herself and it was quite amusing but I still need sleep and now I'm at work (not doing much to be honest) but still want SLEEP..!

Well I can certainly ramble - hoping everyone is okay.

myjobismum I have my scan on the 25th march as well and have no idea when my booking appointment is, I'm guessing I'll get referred when/if the scan shows all is okay..

Goodness, I think I stopped in last week to say hullo and now you've got a new thread. I'm going to see the dr tomorrow about getting registered as I'm 9 weeks now (you can tell I'm 3rd time mother, so relaxed!). Yes, already thinking about double buggies etc too, hard not to isn't it?
Bethoo, do you really think it's twins? Wow!
Sambrands, I remember thinking I"d never leave the house with 2 when pg with ds2 and it really worried me. I'll be honest, it takes more work to do it, I'm a lot more prepared the night before than I used to be which helps a lot. But after the first few weeks, you just do it because otherwise you'd go mad inside (and so would your eldest...). And two together is so much more fun and easier in many ways than one because they're interacting with each other and you don't have to do all the entertaining. I'm actually making myself feel better about 3 now!

ronshar · 05/03/2008 22:04

Pushchairs! What are you talking about ladies, I am struggling to keep up with my trousers and bras. Pushchairs. I need to lay down. Night
