Hope this works - and someone finds it

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You will have the baby early.

only joking - nothing I guess - if you feel well etc. Probably good idea to go if you can though as is good to get blood pressure etc checked and baby heartbeat.

KnitterInTheNW · 22/02/2008 15:41

I have a new moan now... We're ordering our cot this week. We've already decided on a sidecar one, and either the mothercare one or the cosatto one. The one on display in mothercare seems a little rickety, and it appears there isn't a single place in the NW that has a cosatto one on display to go and look at. Nice man at cosatto customer services has been calling everywhere that they sell to, and not a single one. How on earth am I supposed to compare? Actually I'm off to start a thread asking if anyone knows. Grrrr.

EllieG · 22/02/2008 15:42

Grrr in sympathy.

VictorianSqualor · 22/02/2008 15:55

Knitter, we too were going for a 'proper' sidecar cot but bought this from Ikea instead, it says not to ahve the base at the top level without the side on but mine is put together fine and securely, I'm thinking I might get one of those things you have to stop toddlers falling out of bed to put on the edge rather than leave it up against mine when I put baby to bed.
I can measure it up for you if you want to know if it's the right height for your bed? Is absolutely perfectly level with mine.

VictorianSqualor · 22/02/2008 15:58

That programme was called bringing up baby, was great in one way because it got DP in total agreement with co-sleeping and babywearing but even that method wasa bit too hippified for me, I mean I want to put baby down at some point!

Denny185 · 22/02/2008 16:03

You never know vs it may surprise you, quite a lot of your views ie night/day distinction are quite similar to GF, your def not going to like her strict routine though.

KnitterInTheNW · 22/02/2008 16:06

VS, thanks, but I want to get a proper sidecar one so I can put the side up if he's napping in it without me there.

VictorianSqualor · 22/02/2008 16:07

From what I've heard of GF she ahs all the right ideas, just seems to forget that one huge word that is most important IME flexibilty

Denny185 · 22/02/2008 16:12

Yep she pretty rigid and the level to which she goes into her routines will horrify you. I found though once kids into the vague routine it didnt matter they would just continue outside the house ie would sleep in buggy at nap times and never had probs taking them to friends in the evening. So you can make it more flexible.

sagitta · 22/02/2008 16:40

Ughh - there's a really horrible thread on AIBU that has made me all cross, about WOHM mums not spending enough time with their children.

PortAndLemon · 22/02/2008 17:20

My recollection of GF is that it went something like

07.45 Express precisely 75ml from left breast while eating precisely half a slice of toast
08.00 Wake baby and do something-or-other

etc., etc. -- I was left with the distinct feeling that I wouldn't be able to fit in time for peeing or showering.

VictorianSqualor · 22/02/2008 17:28

Sagitta, the one about the childminder complaining her employers don't rush straight to their children if they ahve some time off?
Stoopid.
From what I read though there were only one or maybe two posters that believed to be a Good Mum you had to be bound to DC's every second of the day, methinks someone is still a bit pfb about her own

Peachy · 22/02/2008 19:26

PAL thats ounds like my recollections of that book LOL.

My sister is doing the continuum conceot, albeit a slightly more relaxed versiona dn it is going well for her.

had my Doula round today - she's lovely (and a MN reg LOL). She ahs leant me the Ina May gaskin book, which I am finding I agree lots with already! Sucha hippy

And am now waiting for my Chinese meal to appear- yum!

chipmonkey · 22/02/2008 19:39

Peachy, a chinese!!! Now, that's not like your lentilly self, is it!
Scorpio, just been chatting to a different Scorpio on an Irish site, she just had her baby in 45 min!!! Hope it's as easy for you!

Peachy · 22/02/2008 19:55

The Chinese is a definite aberration LOL

But very tasty....

EllieG · 22/02/2008 21:31

peachy - when did your DC's start sleeping and eating in routine kinda vibe? I want to be a lentil weaver but I do like my own time in the evenings. Not to mention sleep.

chipmonkey · 22/02/2008 22:16

tbh, Ellie, I think that is very much down to the individual child. My ds1 was a great little sleeper from day 1. I got the shock of my life when I got ds2 who would think nothing of waking up at 3am and wanting to play. Nearly wore me out!

EllieG · 22/02/2008 22:24

I was afraid of that...oh well. Will just have to see what the LO turns out like! Can always have a stiff drink before a feed and hope that knocks her out for a few hours

chipmonkey · 22/02/2008 22:32

I generally feed them to sleep in the evenings and then sneak them into bed! Ds1 and ds2 fell for that one, ds3 always woke up! Have a feeling ds4 will be the same as ds3, he already does the same manic kicking as ds3!

EllieG · 22/02/2008 22:34

If this one is anything like her Mummy she'll like her sleep! And talking of sleep.....night all

sagitta · 23/02/2008 11:11

That's the one VS - but you've made me feel better about it! Thanks!
DD and DH have gone to homebase - without me!! Lovely...

scorpio1 · 23/02/2008 12:55

hi everyone

Ellie - Eloise is lovely, a name isaid th DH about before we decided on Millie. Fab!!

lol @ PFB-ish on other threads - i adore my time off and intend to have time away from Millie away too after xmas for a morning a week. Will also be using creche @ local gym from 6 weeks-ish i think.

Went swimming last night was lush and felt very virtous.

Chipmonkey- i hope so too!! I was about 3 hrs from first twinge to baby out last time so i'm not too worried, it is what it is and DH is a very good birth partner. He said last night 'God this is the 3rd time i have done this; i better charge my DS to play' he did laugh though....

What are you all up to this weekend?? We are going shopping ths afternoon, think DH may be out for beer tonight. Tomorrow i dunno yet.

northeastmummy · 23/02/2008 13:39

Ok - not making much progress on catching up so thought I'd drop in at the "new" end of the thread for a bit .

Ellie - I love Eloise too. One of my fave names both last time and this time was Elise, similar but different. I just can't convince DH for some reason.

We were in the pool every day on holiday scorpio - it was so much fun. It's so much more effort here though. I can't just step out in my swimsuit and off I go - there's my lazy side.

We're not doing too much today, just catching up on washing and things. I'm going to make lamb and spinach lasagne for tea - can't wait!

Tomorrow morning DD's been invited to a birthday party so that'll be the highlight of our weekend I suppose. Then back to work ... but only for 4 weeks thank goodness .

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 23/02/2008 14:49

Missed a few days myself as have been on a work offsite (otherwise known as a pissup for those not pregnant!) We went to the most beautiful hotel - Pennyhill Park in Hampshire. A really lovely place and it had a spa attached to it - which I took full advantage of! Had to attend all the meetings but there was time for the spa thankfully! Amazing bedroom - made me wish my DH was with me and that we were on a romantic getaway! Anyway I'm back now and today had my 1st hypnobirthing session today which was really great. The teacher is fab - so calm and comforting and I left feeling really relaxed. Have been putting off thinking about the labour (cos I am terrified!) so today was the 1st time I have had to think about it and I am so glad it was in the environment I was in. Feel loads better about the idea already! Another 4 sessions to go, and I am realy excited about them now!

No idea what I'm up tomorrow - would like to just chill realy after the last few really busy days... will see though!

One thing that was said during the HB session was that baby is aware even before it's born. Does anyone know how aware? I mean if you have been a bit miz (as I have) and crying and stressed, etc., would that upset the baby? I feel terrible thinking that I might have a sad little baby in there reacting to my moods

sagitta · 23/02/2008 14:54

I wouldn't worry about it mum2be. I don't think they are that aware - and our hormones are wired to be a bit tearful at the moment. If that upset the LOs it wold be a huge design fault! I think they know your voice though - they should know who mummy is when they get out, and should recognise dad's voice too. I think that's about it though.
