DS2 slept through from day one . The otehrs have asd related sleep disorders and still don't sleep through but thats houldn't affect your LO. Food wise, theyw ere all in fairly good routines (whether BF or FF) really early.

Mollyfloss · 24/02/2008 10:01

Wow Peachy, that's amazing that your DS2 slept through from day 1. My Mum told me I did that too but I think it is quite rare. I think I am being trained in for being woken up at night already anyway. I'm always up a few time with achy hips or bad circulation or just needing to turn over. This morning at 6am I wok up shouting before I even knew I was awake. I had a massive cramp in my leg. I scared theliving dayloghts out of DH but he helped me get rid of the cramp. It was pretty painful...

Joys of being PG eh Molly?

Hello again mum2b - sounds like a lovely work trip, am v jealous.

I went to a party last night and I stayed out til 11.30! And I could have stayed longer if hadn't been worried about my Dad babysitting and being tired himself - weird burst of energy. Have paid for it today mind, have been v sleepy and like bear with sore head

chipmonkey · 24/02/2008 21:55

Ds1 slept through from about 2 weeks. I woke up shouting the house down ( I was staying with my parents) because I assumed he had died!

Mollyfloss · 25/02/2008 09:21

Good morning ladies!!! It's a lovely sunny day here in London It's nice to hear some good stories about babies sleeping. There is hope. However it's ben so long since I've had a full nights sleep without waking I'm almost getting used to it

Now let's start the week off well and get cracking at those KEGELS!!!!

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:33

Ellie - 11.30!! don't know how you manage it!!

DH has arranged to go out on Sunday to watch boxing in a local club, im hoping to go as well. Bit pissed off that its mothers day and if i cant get a babysitter he will go anyway....gratitude?!? I do really want to go; getting more aware of the fact that im not going to be able to go out for a while, although i do have a good friend who will look after Millie from very small. I said to DH as soon as im skinny again im going clubbing - can't wait!!!

We were also talking about this weekend about Millie's name - again!! DH likes the idea of giving her the name Emilia but using Millie. will school/docs etc call her Emilia though?? or will they use/write to Millie if i ask??

I think i am nesting - i have an uncontrollable urge to clean the skirting boards and sort out all the kids old toys/clothes etc. doing kids room on the weekend with DH though.

How is everyone? Millie is very head down i think and it feels like im sitting on a ball!

EllieG · 25/02/2008 09:36

Morning Molly! What would we do without you? Last night I did my kegels and was quite pleased with self thinking, 'And Mollyfloss didn't even have to remind me!'

I've got thrush today. Boo.

Gonna be a hard day at work today - guess you all saw what was in the news at the weekend - poor little child, breaks my hearty to think no one cared enough about a child to notice that they weren't there anymore....

However, we've also got some bonkers ex-politician (he really does have mental health problems and has been sacked so has a grudge) who is saying that there has been child abuse right up til the present day, which is just not true. At least, no more true than it is for anywhere else. This particular place hasn't been a care home since the 80's anyway.

All very sad though.

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:38

Ellie - i wondered if you lived on Jersey they are saying something about 6 more bodies it's terrible that people didnt notice - imagine those children had mummies like our beans do once.

do you have to be involved at all through work?

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:39

and get thee some cream

EllieG · 25/02/2008 09:42

Yes, horrid. So sad to think this child had no parents who cared enough to wonder where they were and no questions were asked by anyone...apparently at that time they used to sometimes have only one member of staff on at nights, clearly v bad practice, and bad record keeping, so I guess it left it wide open for abuse. Horrid.
Won't really affect me that much as is police investigation, though that said I work in the CP and Duty team so we may get some flack. But I know we do a good job and work hard to keep kids safe so I am not spooked. It's just all a bit sad.

EllieG · 25/02/2008 09:43

I have been to chemist, am well stocked up with cream and pessarys now ugh. No nookie for me for a bit!

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:43

agree is very sad. said somewhere that some thought the kids had just run away??

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:44

ooh you may have to treat dp as well.....

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 09:56

Millie has big hiccups again!! Feel so weird dont they.

PortAndLemon · 25/02/2008 10:06

scorpio -- IME (my brothers both known by short versions of their names) the school will call them whatever you want. Doctors more likely to use full name, but as DS tends to get called "George" at the doctors (which is not in any way shape or form his name) you're likely to get her called something random anyway.

VictorianSqualor · 25/02/2008 10:23

Scorpio at school Dannie-Ella is Ella, so you can tell them to call her Millie if you want, she even has Ella written on her books etc, it's just formal stuff it says Danni-Ella.

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 10:26

Ok, thanks Just we want to call her Millie but we are aware of her needing a 'posh' name maybe for future use, as Millie is quite girly iyswim? Said to DH we have a while to think and will prob only decide when she is here anyway

EllieG · 25/02/2008 10:32

I think Millie is posh enough for anything, is lovely name.

Elliebean has been wriggling like a mad thing last couple of days, is very strange sensation now she's bigger - you can really tell you have something alive inside you. Most odd.

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 11:16

DH is self employed builder, and his current job is coming to an end now. He will finish when im about 38 weeks! a bit gutted really because would have been no issues him having 2 weeks off with us; but now if he is starting a new job it may not be appropriate...last time he had 3 days off and one of those he spent at a funeral. Just wanted it to be slightly different this time...a week will be fine.

What are your DH's doing about paternity leave? are any of yours self-employed? We don't get any money for the time off either...employed fathers do, something like £112 a week for 2 weeks.

PortAndLemon · 25/02/2008 11:29

DH's employers give him full pay for two weeks (they make a big deal out of being family-friendly and even give paid time off to come to scans and so forth. If I worked there I'd get nine months of my maternity leave on full pay... sigh... as opposed to my employers who give me statutory minimum). And he always has plenty of holiday left at the end of the year so he may take more time off after that, not sure yet (realistically it will depend on what's going on at work at the time, I think, and also on whether I end up with a c-section or not).

EllieG · 25/02/2008 11:30

Mine gets 2 weeks paternity full pay, we are lucky in that. His boss is very relaxed so he doesn't have to book it and will just take time off when I pop the sprog!

scorpio1 · 25/02/2008 11:43

but it will be ok; i'm sure he will want to take as much time off as poss.

I'm a bit stuck for what to have for lunch today...think it may be beans on toast. thrilling. Tomorrow i am kiddie free from 9-3.30 so think i will go swimming and then have lunch in the lush sarnie shop/deli in town.

VictorianSqualor · 25/02/2008 11:53

DP has a booked a week off at the beg of april with his holiday but he has some floating paternity leave as well, so he'll get a week of the statutory pay when baby comes.

Sheds75 · 25/02/2008 12:13

Afternoon all, where has the morning gone.... only 6 days left of work (thank God) have been absolutley knackered for days now.

My DP is also self employed so will get nothing, will prpbably start with a week off then see how we are getting on

hope everyone had a good weekend

EllieG · 25/02/2008 12:16

at sheds only having 6 days left.

Am going to have 3 weeks left on thurs - can't wait to stop! Irritatingly, people keep saying 'Oh you look really well' now too, when actually I want people to say 'Oh you poor thing are you tired sit down and let me make you a cup of tea'.
