doh my pg head - sorry heffa congrats in lttle girl

minipinkscottish · 05/03/2008 20:48

monkey thinking of you! Stay positive - I'm sure it will all be fine!

minkus - when you have 2 or more kids you just find your own way to manage! My way is routine...routine and routine!!! And always be prepared to say "what the hell" when things don't go smoothly

They are not little for long enough so just enjoy!! Think I should put htis in the tips

Congrats to all on nice scans...girls...boys and surprises

sweetkitty · 05/03/2008 21:02

sleepy - doh just realised you have a DD sorry you can't be in the Three of a Kind Club anymore

pigley - thought that programme was good but focused too much on how your bits change after having a baby, they never mentioned a c-section as thats a whole different ball game re your body and also your body does change but you are too tired to care (and loved up with the new person you have created). Lovely births though.

I'm having a break from my knitting have got half a back made now although it's my third attempt oh well I've got 18 weeks to finish it.

Oh on names how is everyone else doing with names? We are so stuck.

OP posts:
libralady · 05/03/2008 21:48

We're having a bit of a mare with names also. DS wants to call him Thomas but then he is a HUGE Thomas the Tank Engine fan!
I like Luke, Jacob and Harry. Still have DS's name if he was a girl just on the safe side - Bethan.

TJuice · 05/03/2008 22:53

i had joel lined up if it was going to be a boy. i love that name. oh well.
i guess i could do joely . . . nah!

i haven't had any major cravings either. which i thought may be quite fun. i had more in the first trimester - not so much cravings but i was really specific about what i could eat (like no pesto or anything garlicky - only white bread which i never eat normally and all kind of "nursery" food like macaroni cheese, tuna sandwiches, egg on toast - really plain)

now i am back to normal and maybe even a little less appetitey then before. maybe its just because i hate the supermarkets here, can't be bothered to cook much and don't go out to eat.

can't wait til i am back in england for easter though - my mum's cooking and fish and chips - yum. then i am off to lisbon for five days and i intend to get my grub on . . .

EEC · 06/03/2008 07:01

This name business is a tricky one. We really are stuck too!

No cravings here - just lots of everything!

Want to so some knitting but have only done scarves before! Not sure if I'm up to a cardigan... Anyone know a really easy pattern?

isaidno · 06/03/2008 07:25

easy knitting pattern - buy wool; give wool to your mum; cardigan will magically appear in a few weeks...

sweetkitty · 06/03/2008 07:57

Morning everyone hope you all had restful nights not up to much for the toilet.

EEC - this is my first cardigan as well, I bought a Baby Knits for Beginners book and am following that, I suspect it's going to take a while. The wool is lovely though all soft.

OP posts:
minipinkscottish · 06/03/2008 10:39

Hi all!

knitting - I admire all of you with the patience! My good friend and my mum are wonders with the knitting needles and always come up with some lovely thing!

names are difficult ...I don't really have any in mind yet. It's hard as well to get something that flows with the other dc names as well as the surname

names of dc's so far - Stefan (ds), Jaydan(ds), Ciaran(ds), Taylor(dd) and Mackenzie(ds) - this one is a girl - any suggestions? Surname "Petrie" (peetrie).

Cravings - nothing really specific but can't go for long without having something - anything especially digestive biscuits and chocolate..... ...bot too healthy I know!!

isaidno · 06/03/2008 12:01

We can't think of any names here either. Our surname is Harvey, and lots of girl's names I like end in "y" or "ie" which doesn't seem to go.
Our DS are James and Anthony. Any suggestions gratefully received. I prefer traditional names to new fangled unusual ones!

isaidno · 06/03/2008 14:01

Ordered my sling this morning - I am shopping mad lately.
It is here - £41 with free delivery. I got it in charcoal in case DH wants to try it. He likes the baby bjorn we've already got though.

Where is everyone today????

isaidno · 06/03/2008 14:03

I am so bored I am considering getting in on this knitting lark. There is a blanket pattern in this month's Junior pregnancy and baby mag which looks quite easy. Will have to get my mum to help me start...

At least a blanket is just rectangle, no sleeves!!

EEC · 06/03/2008 14:13

Hi there isaidno. It is quiet this pm. Maybe a blanket would be easier. Sling looks great. Really want to start buying stuff but we are still in France for another month and I guess I 'd better wait til we get back. We've been given loads of second hand stuff from my sister (a lot of it is from my DCs originally, so about 6th hand now!) and I don't really know what's there yet. Still, browsing websites is fun.

Feeling really tired, nauseous and headachy today. Only 18 +3 weeks to go.....

sweetkitty · 06/03/2008 14:22

I'm here being driven quietly mad by the DDs who have just decided to throw all my underwear down the stairs and are just niggling each other.

Re: knitting that Debbie Bliss book I got is fab starts off with scarves, cushions and a blanket then goes onto really easy cardigans, I've only done 3/4 of a back so far yet to attempt the sleeves and buttonholes yet. Although last night I was thinking that there must be people on ebay who sell knitted cardi's.

Glad it's not me who's stuck for names though it's so difficult isn't it.

That's the sling I was looking at isaidno, et me know what you think once it arrives, I have a Baby Bjorn and a Corrie from Freedom slings. DD2 didn't like the Coorie though. I haven't bought a thing for this baby yet, I need to get DP up the loft to see what we have.

Panic...panic...oh my god...more panic...

My internet connection has been down all day until now and it was horrible without MN! I actually did housework instead, urgh. DS is at nursery today. Although I did manage to fit in a 3 hour nap too . Had a terrible night last night, lots of nightmares for some reason and so was really glad of the chance to catch up on some zzzz's.

Rumpel have you updated the list because you've had a scan today? I can't remember. If so hope all was ok - and yay! for another surprise. Did you not want to know (like me) or was the baby not co-operating?

Isaidno that sling looks great, I really want one this time round. Think it would be quite practical with ds to look after too. Are they easy to put on? I worry that I would tie myself in knots and the baby would slip out somehow.

Kitty lol at your dd's chucking your undies down the stairs! Go get theirs and do the same

My knitting has come to a halt. Have got masses of wool for the blanket I started but have done very little on it since Christmas. Seeing you guys talk about it though has renewed my vigour so think I will be getting it out tonight. Would really like to get my sewing machine mended too, esp if this one is a girl as little dresses in cute vintage fabrics (which I collect) would be soooo easy to run up for the summer. My collection is getting vast as I'm always buying pieces of fabric from charity/junk shops but never get round to making anything with them beause the bits are so lovely I don't want to cut them! But having a little girl I'm sure would change that. (I'm the same with stationery- have a major fetish but rarely write in the beautiful notebooks etc I buy as it would "spoil" them- my brain is just wrong)

Soz for monster "me me me me" post, everything has just sort of come out now as I haven't been able to log on all day!

LilyToTheB · 06/03/2008 16:40

Hi everyone! Wow, you don't come on here for a day and you miss loads, you lot certainly are chatter boxes!

I love the knitting idea, knitted baby clothes look sooo cute! Hmmm I might look at taking it up myself, could use a hobby..

I love the names Lily, Hollie and Daisy for girls, and Leo, Harrison, Oliver for boys.. but am going to wait and see what it looks like as they might not suit the little thing!
I heard the name Freya for a girl the other day & really like that too.

Have you guys started buying much yet? It still seems a bit early to buy stuff, I know it sounds silly but I don't want to jinx it!

Got killer heartburn today too! Anyone had this & got any natural solutions? Don't really want to take gaviscon or anything like that

sweetkitty · 06/03/2008 17:07

hey Lily this has been a quiet day as well, am so with you on the heartburn I went and bought another bottle of Gaviscon today, give up using spoons and just swig it from the bottle. Milk can sometimes work haven't heard of anything natural I'm afraid. Like your names too. I haven't bought a thing although I only need a few things anyway as I already have 2 girls and this one is a girl too so mega cheap for me.

Minkus - I have a daily rota today was bathrooms day am also doing a bit of ironing every day to keep it down. I am so of your afternoon nap I would love an hour every afternoon but think the DDs would notice. They have been so naughty today as well.

Right must go make some dinner it's difficult without an oven.

OP posts:
Heffa · 06/03/2008 17:20

Thanks for congratulations everyone

LilytotheB - I've started buying a couple of bits but only when I really couldn't resist. We're moving house in April so I'm trying to not buy anything until then. We did order the pram though, but only because it takes 3 months to come in.

About the heartburn, somebody at work recommended pineapple (juice or fruit I think) and also active manuka honey. I've heard papaya is good too. I haven't tried them yet though!

Knitting sounds like a good idea, I'll have to get my mum to teach me again!

LilyToTheB · 06/03/2008 17:25

Heffa - that's ok then, I've hardly brought anything too, do some prams really take that long to arrive, ooohh I'd better start looking into it then
Thanks for the pineapple and papays for heartburn tip, you think fruit would make it worse cos it's acidic, but I'll bive it a try! Got it so bad for some reason today, just had to be sick it's burning so much!

I used to knit when I was at school, wonder if I still know how! Might look into it...

EEC · 06/03/2008 17:27

Minkus, I stockpile old fabrics too. Just love them. Might make a wall hanging with storage pockets of different lovely materials for baby's room if I get round to it. Thought I might trim a plain blanket too. Made a patchwork play mat last time round, and a really cute pair of dungarees.

pigleychez · 06/03/2008 17:42

Hi everyone.

Re knitting- the set mum gave me for xmas is still the cupboard. The book has some lovely patterns but not really sure if i could manage any of them. Havent knitted for years and really wouldnt know where to start!

re shoppping- Ive bought quite abit so far, mainly because im terribly impatient! Some stuff my friends have given me, plus im thinking get it all now a)whilst still on full pay b)i can just relax at the end.

Have my Scan tomorow afternoon. Very excited but abit nervous too! Cant wait to see baby again.. seems ages since the last scan.

LilyToTheB · 06/03/2008 17:57

pigleychez - good on you buying stuff now, I'm moving house too so want to wait til then really, about 6 weeks hopefully! Then I'm going on a mad shopping spree!
Good point about getting stuff earlier, I expect in the later months it'll be too tiring to traipse around the shops for long!

Good luck with your scan tomorrow! It'll be fine. It does seem a long time between scans doesn't it? Are you going to find out the sex?

Kaz1967 · 06/03/2008 18:08

I have 2 estate agents coming round middle next week (eeek) I must get this house on the market or I will still be here when Bump arrives

pigleychez · 06/03/2008 18:08

lily- We plan to keep it a suprise -
unless baby is like Sleepycats boy and showing his bits off for all to see!
