Kaz1967 · 01/03/2008 13:12

been feeling movement for a long time felt one kick which hurt (displeasure at what I had just been doing I think ) but I was so shocked I have no idea if it could be felt externally but then I am only 20 weeks

pigleychez · 01/03/2008 14:04

Hi all,

Sorry to hear about your friend Jodie How awful.

Ive been feeling inside movement and kicks for a few weeks now. I am starting to feel the on the outside now (21 weeks).
Everytime I feel them I shout at DH who puts his hand in the same place as mine but baby seems to stop kicking or be softer! DH has said he can feel vibrations of it moving but no kicks yet.. poor thing, hes deseprate too!

Well we are dog sitting for the next 2 weeks for our friends. Just taken the nutty Sausage dog for a nice walk through the woods and round the lake hoping to wear him out..... Definately has me if not him!

Ive had lots of people comment on my bump this week. Had various comments... some say im HUGE others say im Tiny!!!!????

Have my scan on friday... cant wait! Not going to find out the flavour though... keep it a suprise.

RUMPEL · 01/03/2008 14:30

Hi All,

JODIE - I checked your profile and saw what threads you were on but I cannot bring myself to read it - it is too awful to think about. Try to enjoy your hol and you can be there for your friend when you get home.

SWEETKITTY - well?

Had terrible night last night. DD is full of the cold and had me up every 2 hours I think I am getting it now and I am back at UNi this week Taking gelsenium like mad to try to limit the symptoms.

I was thinking that it might be a good idea for us ladies who are Mummies already to make a list of 1 piece of info that you found invaluable when pg/labouring/hospital or post birth, so that the first timers can refer to it? I thought we could cut and paste like the stats list?

Hope all is well with you all - good to hear things are better for you too LAZYHIPPO.

RUMPEL · 01/03/2008 14:32

VALUABLE INFORMATION

  1. It is quite common for baby girls to have a mini-period a few days after they are born. It is a withdrawal bleed from the exposure to all the hormones in the womb.
(My friend told me this when she had a DD, otherwise I would have been frantic when it happened to my DD) RUMPEL
sweetkitty · 01/03/2008 14:55

Well we are having a BABY GIRL another one, healthy size she should be. DD1 came out and announced to the waiting room "see I TOLD YOU it was a baby girl" then decided to tell all the other women what they are having

Have to admit to being a little disappointed not at having a girl, girls are great and I could never be disappointed with another DD but that we will never have a son as this is my last pregnancy, does that make sense. Well DP and I just seem to make beautiful girls.

Also saw a Phil and Teds in baby/toddler mode in ELC and spent about 10 minutes chatting to the woman with it much to DP's

Will catch up with everyone else later

  1. When your milk comes in (about 3 days after birth) they will be enormous, hot and rock hard. This extreme discomfort coincides with a happy hormone drop so don't be surprised if you spend the day sobbing. You'll feel better soon!

  1. Do not buy disposable paper knickers and maternity sanitary pads for after the birth, they are really uncomfortable. Instead buy some really cheap supermarket pants and Always nighttime pads. You can then throw away the cheap pants.

Hello all

Beautiful day in dorset today! Have just made my first ever baby purchase so very excited and wanted to share it with you. A 2nd hand Zeddy and Rhubarb Moses basket from ebay. Probably paid far too much but at least I've taken the plunge and made that first purchase. There will be no stopping me now....
Off to see my friend for the first time since she had premature triplets (at 29wks) 3 months ago. It's her first lot- can you imagine having 3 in one go?? Can't wait to see her but most importantly am hoping to get some tuition in baby holding, feeding and changing!
Have a good weekend everyone.

sweetkitty · 01/03/2008 15:51

cass66 - great you have it all planned, I think as long as they come out happy and healthy who cares how they come out.

Jodie - sorry about your bad news

EEC - great news about your scan will add you to the surprise list

Pigley - happy dog sitting

Rumpel - your at uni as well much respect, what you studying?

isaidno - thanks 3 little girls will be fab, poor DP though, a lot cheaper as well, we have everything already, DD1 was a July baby but DD2 was a January so never got to wear the Summer clothes so DD3 will have all DD1's lovely summer clothes as I bought way too much, she will also get some new clothes as well though.

jocesar - congrats on your purchase you have done the right thing buying a second hand Moses basket they are hardly in them for any anount of time yet are still handy for the first few months.

Now DP and I have to decide on a name, haven't a clue, DD1 got our girls name, DD2 we just stumbled across her name and loved it, I suppose we are looking for another one just to jump out at us.

oh and forgot to say we were pleasantly surprised with the scan, it was the basic 2D £75 one and we thought it would be in yes it's a girl and back out but the woman was lovely. She did all the measurements and baby measured as she should. Also checked the heart, spine, bladder, kidneys etc and said the placenta was well out the way so glad we had it done.

Hi all!

EEC, I've been feeling the baby on the outside for the last few days- it's definately had a growth spurt or something, they are suddenly quite noticeable kicks! Like Pigley though, the baby seems to be ignoring my partner, everytime he sprints, hand at the ready, it plays sleeping lions- Very frustrating for him!

Poledra · 01/03/2008 16:29

Hey, SK, me too on the dd3! Had the scan on Thurs, all well so far. More blood tests and another scan in 4 weeks because of the anti-E.

DH now looking at blueprints for a new shed - something with a TV, armchair and beer fridge I think

carrieHD9 · 01/03/2008 16:48

the 'top tips' is a FANTASTIC idea btw, thankyou Rumpel- the more graphic the better as far as I'm concerned! All the things the books kind of say but don't really SAY...

Hi everyone.

Top tips are fab- Never knew about that about baby girls. Must tell my sister about that one as her baby girl is due end of May.

Sweetkitty- Another girl Poor DP will truely be outnumbered. My dad used to say PMS was awful... always someone moody!

EEC- Glad the scan went well. I too am keeping mine a suprise.

I too have been baby shopping today, bought a moses basket, stand, blanket and mobile.Got it from Boots and they are doing 3 for 2 on nursery stuff so got the stand for free- bargin!
Also friends of ours who have a 3 yr old boy are moving to spain and having a massive clearout as they are limited to how much they can take with them. They came round last night with a car full of stuff including a huge bag of clothes- some boys, some netural, loadsa toys, highchair etc.
House is begining to be overtaken by babystuff!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 01/03/2008 18:43

sweets - i am so happy for you and

i was one of four girls and it had its moments
infact i was number three and have a lovely name not run of the mill!

been better re prospective millionth son! was going to do these tiles on nursery floor

but dp says if i am worried its a boy i had better think twice! bit sad you cannot do anything frivolous for boys

sweetkitty · 01/03/2008 18:49

I did actually think if it were a boy it would feel left out a bit probably wouldn't but I think there is something nice about a tribe of one or the other, or maybe something nice about a tribe. I have this dream they will all be really good friends especially when grown up (either that or hate each other). I think the key will be respecting each others things and personal space. 3 teenage girls!

pigley - great buying baby stuff I love baby stuff. I suppose now I can get some pink wool for my baby cardigan.

Hi everyone, i haven't posted for months but thought i would check in and see how everyone is doing, and you're all fine!

We had our 20 week scan two weeks ago and things were all good (Our DD has changed to 3 July. We decided to wait and see on the sex but i'm sure the sonograhper was saying she until we told them we didn't want to know

It's driving me mad though as i am seeing loads of gorgeous clothes for either girls or boys - i'm going to go mad when they arrive!

I have put about 1 stone on so far and feel hungry all the time, i think it will be about 3 before long! Have been feeling kicks on the outside for the past 2 weeks but no leaking boobs yet, thank goodness.
