Welcome to the second trimester

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
libbyssister · 03/03/2008 11:41

Your SIL sounds adorable, dizzy

Shazza2002 · 03/03/2008 11:50

Thanks Dizzy. I know I am being completely stupid but when you're pregnant all reason goes out of the window. Plus I am a very stubborn cow when I want to be and I know that doesn't help

Regarding favouritism, I have to witness it everyday. Like this morning, I arrive at my mothers around 15 minutes before my sister. So Mum talks to DD about the weekend etc, but then as soon as DN's walk in she gets pushed aside. My mum can't do enough for the older one, he's 10, and of course the youngest one who is 2 is adorable I understand that but of course he requires more attention than a 5 year old. I try to convince myself it's not the case but I know it is. If I make any comment about my mum favouring the eldest it's because I'm jealous. I am 17 years older than him for gods sake. And breath, rant over

I did say the other day to my parents, I hope I have a boy, at least it might get some attention then . But to be honest even that won't work. It will just get compared to DN's and will never live up to them of course

PetitFilou1 · 03/03/2008 11:54

dizzy Isabella Oliver dress for the wedding. Get your cleavage out and no-one will notice the rest and you can dress them up with jewellery, good shoes etc Sod how much they cost! I had a Formes outfit for special occasions when pregnant with ds - it made me feel so good - it was worth the money.

Shazza being stroppy completely normal. I am really stroppy too particularly when overtired (like by the end of yesterday when I was trying to cook dinner/empty dishwasher/empty washing machine/empty water from tumble dryer simultaneously - while dh watched The Incredibles with the dcs.) However I did get a few hours off in the morning so should be grateful for small mercies!

PetitFilou1 · 03/03/2008 11:58

PS Can anyone recommend some good maternity knickers? I'm fully in maternity clothes now as so much more comfortable - except that bit!

Shazza2002 · 03/03/2008 13:00

Thanks petitflou. I get mad when doing house things aswell, I would love to be the one doing the fun stuff with DD but I always seem to have work to do. I could get DP to do it but then have to redo myself anyway!

Maternity knickers. I am wearing french knickers, I find them very comfortable as there isn't any elastic cutting in anywhere. Plus still feel a little sexy

Buckets · 03/03/2008 13:19

I just got low-waisted cheapie ones in a bigger size, they sit under your bump so again, more sexy than great big pants.

Let's do some affirmations to cheer us up.
Am feeling v chuffed today: walked 2 miles this morning and heard I'd won our pre-school a grant for £600 (on top of the £160 I raised over half term). Plus yesterday I made a quiche from scratch. Plus I am growing a fabulously gorgeous baby (we do make beautiful children, it's a fact - see my profile.) Plus it's about to p*ss down with rain and I am cosy and dry in my house (until schoolrun anyway).

Shazza2002 · 03/03/2008 13:38

Very good buckets. You are right, there is lots to be happy about.

I've just had a huge slice of chocolate cake, does that count?????????

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 14:13

buckets you DO make beautiful children!
petitfilou am already eyeing the isabella oliver outfits for the wedding and seeing as a poor performance was delivered on 'mothers' day I think I might just be able to swing it! Norks will just enter the church 10 minutes before the rest of me

am with buckets and her pants - low rise and stuff them under the bump, esp when getting a bit warmer - fingers crossed!

Shazza2002 · 03/03/2008 14:21

I also have a wedding to go to. On 28th June so will be about 35 weeks. I am a natural 16-18 and it's bad enough finding an outfit when not pregnant, something tells me it's gonna be a whole lot worse now

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 14:28

well shazza you're doing better than me as am 16-18 on bottom and 18-20 up top shelf - was hoping to do top and trousers combo but this is apparently too fecking posh for that
isabella oliver do DO big sizes, its also the big prices that go hand in hand with them though

miamla · 03/03/2008 14:52

petitfilou... primark do the best knickers..they come in packs of two (£4 a pair) and they're seamless shorts. I've bought so many pairs now that i've got enough to last a month!

dizzy.. if you lived closer to me than a million miles away i'd offer to make you something!

well we're all back from my uncle's wedding. the bridesmaids looked beautiful (i'm allowed to be big headed...i worked bloody hard on them!) and i managed to finish an outfit for me in time too so i've now added a skirt and smart top to my maternity wardrobe. I made some culloutes (my sewing skills are better than my spelling!) for everyday wear and they are sooo comfy, i've lived in them. I know they're not fashionable at the moment but that's never bothered me before so i'm not going to start worrying about being unfashionable during pregnancy!

CC. sorry to hear about your cat, i know i'm going to be devestated when mine goes. thinking of you and your family and sending hugs

i had a whole bunch of blood taken weeks ago for the Downs stuff but i haven't had any results. i phoned the midwife and asked about them and she said i'd only hear if it was bad news. apparently there are too many pregnant ladies in my area for them to contact us with good news. great! i'm just hoping that i haven't got any letters missing in the post.

ooh and my tip for the day.. if you're pregnant and in Primark you don't have to queue for the changing room or tills. stick your bump out and someone will grab you out the queue and whisk you to the front!

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 14:55

Miamla - glad the dresses went down well - photos please!!! i was just saying to my aunts yesterday its a disgrace none of us are good with a sewing maching [shame shame]
thank you for your lovely offer and if you're anywhere near north east fife I'll snap your hand off lol

miamla · 03/03/2008 14:58

primark are also doing really comfy non-underwired supportive sports bras at the moment

i don't know about your norks (such a great word!) but mine are growing too fast to justify spending more than a few pounds on a new bra each time

dizzy..don't read this bit.... absolutely fantastic nookie on Saturday night...our famine is finally over!

i can't remember who mentioned feeling hormonal but yes, i still am at 18+6 weeks. Saturday was ridiculous, i kept crying at the slightest little thing

anyone else suffering from their LO discovering a new game of "bladder bouncing"? i seem to be in the bathroom more than i'm out of it at the moment!

anyone would think Pip knows that i'm writing about him/her... just felt some definite movements!

oops, sorry about my epic posts!

miamla · 03/03/2008 15:03

but my providing photos means that i need to work out how to attach them to my profile! oh and also, i've only got some from the fittings at the moment so you'll have to be patient and wait until the official photos are printed

when's your wedding dizzy? it might be possible to sort something out via the wonderful postal system but you'll need someone up there to help measure you. I'm always up for a fresh challenge! thinking out loud here but it would be feasible if we used stretch fabric... what kind of outfit were you looking for?

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 15:06

re jiggy jiggy but am def feeling sorry for dh as he had to have a tooth out today - maybe he'll get lucky tomorrow, although that will require some forthought on my part so I can mow the legs - sod the lady garden pruning, he can just be grateful he's getting shot

got to go and coo over dd1 at her dancing lesson, more like farmers in tackity boots than ballerinas but hey, they enjoy it, whilst also trying to stop dd2 thinking she is allowed to join in and knocking them all over - ah the joys of girls!!!

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 15:07

oh Maiamla what a star you are

just be getting yourself to millets and buy a nice coloured 6 sleeper tent that you can alter for me

wedding is only 10 wks away so too soon BUT Shazza has one at end of june if your talents stratch to that lol

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 16:24

Hello all - lot's of posts since I last posted! Let me go and catch up x

miamla · 03/03/2008 16:26

i'm still tempted even with a 10 wk deadline...

LadyOfWaffle · 03/03/2008 16:43

Dizzy - I have a wedding to go to in June. I am going to be MASSIVE, last time I was fat and pregnant but I am even err... bigger this time round to start with! I literally will look like I am wearing a tent if I wear a dress! Still not 100% sure I want to go (it's up north) but have to RSVP sooner rather than later. + we have DS to entertain through a wedding, reception and after party and he can be a handful!

Libby - not still in the closet, mum opened my scan letter (she says she didn't see the name, but she knew as it had Frimley Park Hospital all over the envelope! Wish I was though, make life easier!

Shazza - definatly hormones all over the place. I started crying last night because DH offered to go out to get a McFlurry, then changed his mind and went to bed! Re: favouritism, I am used to it - my mum really favoures my sister (despite her being really nasty and used to be violent) as she has a degree (but works in an office now!), is going travelling, has an irish boyfriend... I am the 'dissapointment' MIL also favours her other son, she gave him to her sister or mum (DH doesn't talk about it) and he went to live away on the isle of wight, and they didn't have contact for years then as soon as DHs dad died, he moved in with his family and now lives a few hundred yards away and she goes there all the time - she came to our house once, about 2 years ago and only because we were ferrying her somewhere and DH needed to come in and get something. She didn't come to DSs 1st Birthday and "isn't sure yet" about DSs 2nd on the 27th, but she will travel into London at night alone ec. to see her boyfriend. Grrr. My mum is being awful at the moment now aswell, so might cancel DSs Zoo party and just go as a family, but then I don't want him to have to look back on his photos seeing no one came to his Birthday... Hmmm.

Pregnancy knickers = big fat granny pants

Phew, think I am caught up on everything! Better ring my mum now as the phone keeps ringing

Buckets · 03/03/2008 17:06

I have 2 weddings in June but one I can't be bothered with as it's way up North and DH's mate so he can have a weekend away by himself.
Do we have any Indian-ish ladies on the board? I really fancied getting a sari outfit for the wedding I am going to but then I got pg - does anyone know how Indian ladies get their saris to stay up when pg?

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 17:35

miamla you could be making a FORTUNE here, think there is a definate gap in the market for decent/modern/excellent maternity clothes!!

either that or I get one of those wrap around outfits from Isabella Oliver and pass it onto whomever is next in the wedding stakes - those with tiny bumps and norks need not apply

LofW am the same, considering tent or marquee as outfit for myself! Isabella Oliver goes up to size 20 so may push to boat out - sorry, read, may push dh's credit card out

alittlebitshy · 03/03/2008 17:37

i found out today that I have a wedding in early June. My bets friend and her boyf decided in Jan to go for it and i've only just seen her so just found out. great news but i'll be 32 weeks and HUGE but also I am miffed cos she always PROMISED my dd that when she got married she could be her bridesmaid. Dd was always told that she might not get married but if she did she would be a b-maid. Today she says "oh, will dd be upset? we're not having b-maids or a best man". Totally their pregogative of course but why promise something to a little girl form the age of 2 to then take it away at age 5?? Dreading telling dd Am i being a cow being so upset??

dizzydixies · 03/03/2008 17:45

no - you are not. my mate did that, got engaged asked 4yr old dd to be flowergirl, stole chose same wedding date as us and then told me no flowergirls, now she managed to get away with it because dd was flowergirl at cousins but I think its p*ss poor behaviour and you should say YES, actually dd IS disappointed you stroppy mare, a wee dress from debenhams/next/tesco costs next to nothing to let her feel like a fairy princess for day like you promised - you witch
[HUMPH]

sorry, am very angry on your dd's behalf

alittlebitshy · 03/03/2008 17:57

She was muttering that they just dpn't want the fuss of things like that. There are only going to be 40 guests, no best man, no readings, just a meal after ceremony, all low key. That's all fine and I would never assume someone was going to ask my dd to be a bridesmaid EXCEPT that she has always promised her. Dh is none too happy. I've asked him not to tell dd that aunty D is getting married, and i'll work out how to do it in my own time. My poor (bigger) baby
