Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amy78 · 22/02/2008 17:02

Hi everyone
Just thoght I'd update you on Zoe Isabella's arrival. After the waters going on Monday morning my cotractions finally started at midnight but were so irregular and all over the place that it loked like I was still going to be induced on Tuesday morning. However, when I got to the hospital they were so busy and short staffed that it looked like it would be Tuesday evening before I was induced. Ha!! Roll on wednesday morning and it finally all kicked off with just one small dose of Syntocin to get my contractions more regular. So after a 50+ hour labour she arrived safe and sound and not the 9-10lb whopper we'd been told to epext - she's a very dainty 6lb 11.

Anywy, just arrived home today so I haven't had much of a chance to catch up on all the posts but congratulations on any other new arivals and fingers crossed for all those waiting.

Amy

Egg · 22/02/2008 17:11

Congrats Amy! Can't believe a) how long the labour was and b) the difference in size from their estimates to little Zoe's REAL weight! Lovely name . Can't wait til we get a proper list together so we can see how many girls and boys we have now.

I saw somewhere in the middle of the night that Filly had a little girl. She might have abandoned us here but at least all is well for her! Wonder where some of the others are who never post here anymore.

AND WHERE OH WHERE IS MINI? Have not heard anything for so long. Anyone seen her around?

OneHandedTypist · 22/02/2008 18:00

This is lljkk w/ new name (4 obv. reasons). Congrats 2 Amy & all. Do we have a postnatal thread, may I start 1?
Just 2 talk about sticky eye & stitches & other stuff those still 'waiting' dont want 2 hear about just yet,

Jaysthird · 22/02/2008 19:54

Hi to one and all! Big congrats to everyone who have had new arrivals. Amy, 50+ hr its a nightmare length, well done you for keeping your sanity and coming through the other side! I hope my 'whopper' turns out to be a 'mini'!!!!
Congrats also to Widget and Sally

Best of luck Lovemymum, it makes it all so much more real when it all kicks off!!

Well i havnt even reached my due date yet ( next Tuesday) and like the rest of you am geetting fed up, bored, anxious, excited and tired of waiting. I know its going to happen and i know its not going to be too long, but the last few weeks drag!

Well good luck to all those waiting, and to those having inductions etc etc, looking forward to more birth stories

Sherida · 22/02/2008 20:19

IT'S HAPPENED! After 36 hours I had a baby girl Jessica!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1370/483441?rnd=1203711446824 for the full version...warning, it's long!

Sherida · 22/02/2008 20:20

EEK it didn't work....

CountTo10 · 22/02/2008 20:20

Our hatched list must be huge now!! Greetings all.

Sarah - sorry to hear about your fall and hope you're feeling a lot less bruised.

Mymissus - I had a similar experience pain wise with ds1 and was the same re crying through the feeds and dreading them etc. I think you have to make a decision at some point re how important it is for you to carry on. If you do then stock up on the lansinoh as the stuff really is miracle cream and try the nipple shields etc. Also, make sure you're only feeding bubs when needed and not acting as a soother which was one of my problems. If you don't then make the break now and don't look back. At the end of the day my take on it now is I appreciate the whole importance of bf etc but actually its more important that baby has a healthy and happy mum. Having a baby is hard enough espec in the first few weeks without heaping even more pain and pressure on yourself. I wish looking back that I'd made the break earlier but also let it go as it really tarnished my first few weeks. Hope things get better for you x

On the sex thing, I know I've just got to bite the bullet and do it at some point. I left it too long last time and ended up really self concious about it so it turned into a huge big deal. Having a glass of champers tonight as I found out I passed my exam I did in dec so maybe that'll get me in the mood - either that or it'll be snooze city within 5 secs flat!!!

Re the p/n thread, I think we'd said we'd wait until everyone had popped until we started. I'm easy either way!!

So have taken steps to bring a little structure to my life and started trying to get ds2 on the EASY routine from the Baby Whisperer, we did it with ds1 and it worked wonders and so far so good with ds2. I don't follow everything religiously but it just helps to have a pattern. Plus ds2 really seems to have settled back down since the weekend so thought it might be a good time. He took a proper bottle tonight of expressed milk from do which is a step forward.

Have just realised I've been going on for yonks - sorry I know I'm boring!!! Just nice to be able to talk this stuff with people who are actually doing it too!!!!

Congrats - just off to read your story!!

CountTo10 · 22/02/2008 20:26

Fab story - sounds like you had a lot of support around you which is fab x

Sherida · 22/02/2008 20:28

yes Count, I was really lucky. Although I didn't want a cesarean it really was for the best. The midwives and even the doc spent a while chatting to me making sure I knew that even though I wouldn't have her naturally it wouldn't make me a failure and that I wouldnt regret it later. I don't regret it at all, how could anyone feel a failure with something so lovely at the end?

CountTo10 · 22/02/2008 20:30

Very true. She's beautiful, well done you!!

Sherida · 22/02/2008 20:37

Just quickly...please check out my photos, I've stolen one from my DH with a big yawn on her face, is that a HUGE mouth or what LOL

Off to go stare at baby some more...I may be quite some time....stares at newborn in wonder and forgets everything

pobletsmum · 22/02/2008 20:38

Another gorgeous baby girl - well done Sherida! And Congratulations to Amy too! The girls are fighting their way back in the battle of the sexes.

I'm still having contractions. I'm starting to pay a bit of attention to them now although they're not too painful yet, and only about 15-20 mins apart. Have sent DS to stay with my mum just in case, which he was delighted about. I can't believe that the next time I see him, he might be a big brother. Or not...

pobletsmum · 22/02/2008 20:40

Sherida - I love that yawn picture! Being a newborn must be oh so exhausting!

leesmum · 22/02/2008 21:03

Sherida well done! your daughter is just beautiful

Amy congratulations also on zoe's safe arrival xx

pobletsmum hows it going? keep us updated as much as you can, i'll be on for ages as dp has finally gone out to wet baby's head!

Count i think my day's are better/more organised since dp went back to work. I think it's all very laid back when they are at home, you need some sort of routine don't you? and as for sex i was just very honest with Dp and said " let's just get a move on with it but hurry up!!" as if he needed telling cos it had been about 3 months since we did it lol

Lovemymum best wishes for tomorrow i'll be thinking of you xxx

Tyaca even though i'm breast feeding i too sometimes feel a huge urge to get pissed, but most evenings i really am too tired to want a drink xxx

Redbush · 22/02/2008 21:04

Hi everybody and congrats to all the new mums. It's my due date today but nothing happening. I was awake for a couple of hours last night from 2am convinced I was having contractions but then fell asleep again and woke up this morning with nothing happening. I delivered on due date with DD and had really hoped that things would be on the move by now. If feels a little as if this one has no intention of coming out at all!! Also seem to have spent the whole afternoon arguing with DD (now aged 22 mths)since I picked her up from nursery - feel like horrible mummy! How do people feel about the possibility of delivering on 29th Feb??

pobletsmum · 22/02/2008 21:13

Thanks for asking leesmum. No change. Still regular tightenings every 15-20mins. I know it might take ages, cos with DS I had painful contractions less than 10 min apart for 3 days! Hence not getting too excited about these not-too-painful ones. I am going to bed very soon to try to keep my energy levels as high as possible. I know I may be in for the long haul. At least I'm prepared for it this time.

leesmum · 22/02/2008 21:22

Pobletsmum how about a nice bath and something to eat because you never know when things will speed up, if not i hope you get some sleep x

bluedomino · 22/02/2008 21:38

Hi everyone, I had a little girl on 14 Feb, she was 7lb 8oz called Clara.

She was born by c-section which went well, I have a tiny 4inch scar.

Afterwards, was in a lot of pain and have spent the last week in hospital, but I am now on antibiotics for a womb infection which may explain some of the pain I had during the pregnancy.

Clara is taking a folic acid supplement and has been having lots of bloods done as she had a raised white cell count and something else, but unfortunately I was too spaced out on painkillers to understand much, except our bloods don't match.

Shes been very well behaved so far, and her big sister has been amazing, no jealousy, she kisses her and rubs her cheek on the babies head.

Hope everyone else is doing well, and getting some sleep. Take care, Domino

leesmum · 22/02/2008 21:45

bluedomino great news and what a lovely name xx

Jo9977 · 22/02/2008 22:05

Welcome readytopop, skyscooter and sireedubs - vent away!!

Congratulations to widgetsmummy! Soz to hear about your awful time though and hope you manage to forget how bad it was...

Congrats sallyinyorkshire too - fab news

Congrats to Amy - lovely name!

And congrats to domino and sheridan!!

Daniel came on his due date too!

I'm hoping to be signed off to drive Monday (was hoping today but got mucked around by the doctor receptionist). Don't take any notice of the six weeks talked about by most people - ask your insurance company and they will prob say if your doctor says you're ok and puts it in your notes then you are alright to drive - I'm only two weeks post section and my midwife reckons it's a goer!

Sex????!!!!! Are you mad????!!!!

Hope you feel better soon Sarah - that must have been scary...

And all the best to those of you going for inductions...thinking of you

tyaca · 23/02/2008 00:10

its a girl hatrick!!! hurrah!

bluedomino - so nice to hear from you and very many well dones. cant believe that on top of everything you now have an infection.... hope you are getting looked after. love the name clara and glad that your eldest is taking to life as a big sister so well.

awww.... sherida, such wonderful pics. you're right, that is one heck of a big yawn. your dp/h looks v proud too... your posts made me smile... i am so looking forward to newborn gazing. and smelling. etc etc!! havent read your story yet -- will save it for tomo with a nice cup of coffee. why do people apologise for long birth stories?? i'm not sure they can be too long

and finally, a big congrats to amy... that is one heck of a long labour... lol at the weight difference... better i guess to think you got a whopper then go smaller than the other way round.

speaking as a still-to-pop -- please dont desert us yet! i have this morbid fear of being the last one standing... posting to myself.

Lovemymum - i fear this is too late for you to read, but all the very best for tomo. hope it all goes well and we look forward to hearing from you.

same of course to bovril... remember that we need more girls!! and good luck with the sweep mitfordsisters

pobletsmum... i think you're up for the Feb Thread longest labour award. hope things start to speed up for you soon... must be v frustrating.

redbush and violeta.... know exactly what you mean re the nighttime sense of something happening. each night, i lie awake on contraction alert. every small thing makes me wonder... i get a pain at top of my leg, i wonder.. i get a sense of grinding in my pelvis, i wonder.... etc etc.

ok, i've said it before, but i'll say it again, cause i hope you guys are getting time to read if not post - but hello to lurkers. esp Gill - sorry, you were here brifly a few days ago and i missed you. and also PK of course, you are much missed and i hope all is going well with you.

looking forward to tomo loads. curry lunch with my sister and parents (bless my parents, they are curry freaks and it couldnt be more welcome right now) and i have bitten the bullet and booked shiatsu for tomo pm. v annoyed cause lost therapists mobile number and had to book thru therapy centre. wanted her to do a home visit (which is better for her, as makes her more money) as dont want to have to get blissed out and then battle with brixton high st and bus journey home. BUT DH going to pick me up after, so all ok. i'm hoping that it'll be a nice full stop that i need to set me up - even if that just means keeping me calm while i continue to not have a baby!

OP posts:
mymissus · 23/02/2008 09:23

Thanks so much to all who have given me advice - much appreciated and really helped. I expressed all of yesterday, but felt shockingly bad with aches and temperature (not mastitis though), and that was going fine. I don't seem to be producing very much this morning, and my boobs aren't filling up now, so I guess the decision may be taken out of my hands? Kind of a relief really but that makes me feel guilty just saying that.

anyway digby is just fine, full and happy, so that is the most important thing isn't it?

Well done to all the new mums - gorgeous names..

Good luck to all those still waiting - it won't be long now!!!

princessllama · 23/02/2008 09:45

hope you're ok mymissus-i love the name digby, hope you go with it! i had a nightmare struggle first time with lo and spent literally weeks in tears over the whole thing. i have got over it, but have to always sit on this massive pile of jealousy when i hear about people who have no probs,no pain, tonnes of milk etc but decide not to do it . am nervous this time round but way more prepared that it might not work. v heartened by rozzyraspberry's comment that 2nd and 3rd time was much better.
bluedomino congratulations. clara is a great name. so glad you've come out the other side ok after so much ache and pain. i had a womb infection and i know how horrible it feels, i suddenly thought i was in labour again . don't forget the antibiotics can make you feel even more hormonal and weepy so don't panic if they do.
please can we all stay on the same thread. i feel same as tyaca that i will be last man standing in the tumbleweed.
congratulations to amy and sherida too if i hadn't already said though maybe i had? lost brain for good

leesmum · 23/02/2008 09:48

Mymissus you are right, all that matters is that you and digby are happy, this is such a very special time for you and lo and nothing is worth getting in the way of that xxx

pobletsmum how are you getting on? snuggling up to your baby perhaps?

And where is pk? fine i hope x

lovemymum thinking of you today

For those of you overdue what have you all been trying to get things going? and please tell me that none of you have resorted to a sperm supper
