OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beansprout · 08/02/2008 21:30

Keeping everything crossed for you lolo. Ds1 was soooo late, so I really sympathise!!

Pk616 · 09/02/2008 07:57

Good morning ladies!
Well I'm back home after a lovely 2 hours in triage. I went in because thought I was leaking my waters and it was definately tinged with blood.
Baby is fine. I'm fine. My waters HAVE ruptured and I'm 2cms dilated and the blood is nothing to worry about but no real contractions as of yet!
If I don't get going by myself I'm in on Monday for an induction.
That's the news ladies!
DPs gonna be on the PC all day putting music on my MP3 player so that'll keep him out of trouble for a few hours!

Pk - V exciting that things are happening for you! Cross fingers you get going this wkend!

I thought things were happening last night at 2am but just had mild period pains all night - so couldn't sleep! Am now V tired. Have still got a cold and now thrush as well - so immune system is obviously under attack.

Probably best baby waits a couple of days!

ayrshirelolo · 09/02/2008 10:25

Oooooooooo! Pk, how exciting!!! hope it all gets going soon! Omy, beansprout, thank you for the sympathy!!!! i know i'm only 41+2 today, but dd was born at 39+4 so i never expected to be this pregnant!!!! Needless to say hot bath didn't work so still here and still the size of a whale!!!
Anyway, going to go for a nice walk with dd today to go and buy dh a valentine, as not sure i'll manage to the shops by myself next week!! Will probably buy sweeties for us both and a crap magazine or 2 while i'm there... and the walk might help!! will say hi to you all later, Pk let us know how it's going!!!! lolo x

ayrshirelolo · 09/02/2008 10:28

Ooops.. sorry, pressed "post" too quickly! Omy take it easy friend!!! stay in bed with cups of tea and chocolate and either radio or telly.... hope you feel better soon! lolo x

beansprout · 09/02/2008 10:52

< beansprout sighs at the thought of a day in bed with chocolate and tv > ahhhhhh

PK - fingers crossed for you!!
Lolo - still sending you those birthing vibes!!

Lack of sleep has caught up with me today. I know I need to sleep when ds2 sleeps but never having more than 2 or 3 hours sleep and constantly trying to catch up is getting me down a bit. Sorry to moan.

pobletsmum · 09/02/2008 11:51

Pk - very best wishes to you!

Omy - rest, rest, rest. That's all you can do. Sorry you're feeling so yuck.

beansprout - I remember the sleep deprivation all too well. I had a few awful weeks after DS was born. I just cried a lot and felt generally quite unwell & miserable. It all started to get better once DS slept for more than 2-3 hours at a time. Please just keep remembering that it get better soon. DS2 won't wake every 2-3 hours forever. There's a good reason why sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture...

lolo - glad we can be here for you

I'm having a really chilled out morning. DH has had DS with him all morning & has got him dressed, breakfast etc. They're currently washing the car together. This afternoon we're ALL going to the birthday party of one of DS' friends TOGETHER (we hardly ever do anything together). I'm so happy. It feels like the sort of weekend 'normal' families have. I have spent my weekends for the past year or so trying to keep DS out of DH's way while he gets on with projects in the house. Either that, or DH goes out to work. I could get used to this! It's all about to change again though, as soon as baby makes her entrance.

pobletsmum · 09/02/2008 11:54

I should clarify that I'm not unhappy about things changing when baby arrives - we'll still be a family, and DH will still spend more time with us It's like the next chapter of our family lives.

omy · 09/02/2008 11:59

Thank you everyone for your kind sympathies! I am retiring to bed with my tapestry and radio. What a beautiful day!

Please moan away beansprout! All you can do is not expect too much of yourself while sleep deprived.

Pobletsmum - I don't think there is such a thing as a normal family! Glad you are having a nice day

pobletsmum · 09/02/2008 12:10

Very true omy, I suppose I just meant that we are able to spend time together which is what most of our friends/extended family do.

Have a relaxing day stitching & singing!

Slacker · 09/02/2008 13:56

Am snuggled up on the sofa with a very cute baby boy Midwife got here with half an hour to spare but I didn't have time to get in pool once I needed to, waters broke and he was out within 2 mins! Ouch! Will upload a picture later.

Egg · 09/02/2008 14:16

Oooooooooooooh Slacker, I read your post and for a minute was thinking you had already given birth last week and were just talking about snuggling, then realised I was alllllllll confused. Fab news and congrats and you sound like you had the birth you planned and it went nice and smoothly. I had same thing with DT1/DD, once waters were broken she was out in about three pushes, hence the 2nd degree tearing . Any name for your new son yet???

Wonder if PK has a new baby yet? Good luck PK if you are still at home and checking MN in between contractions.

Beany, I am so with you on the sleep thing. I was v lucky and got 5 hours from 9 til 2 last night, but only cos I am bottle feeding so DH fed them at 9/10pm, if I was bf it would never have happened. Having said that, I then only got snatched 45 mins here and there for rest of night until DH took the whingeing babies away at about 7am and I slept again til nearly 9. Means I feel almost human at mo. I didn't nap in day yesterday as my parents were here and I felt fine and I was nearly asleep with my head in my supper last night i was so tired.

Lolo, I read your post last night and I am so glad you came over to join us a few weeks ago so that you have lots of company still. Must be very annoying to be last, but at same time something to be proud of that you are still cooking yours until s/he is ready to come out nicely done! Really hope though that it all happens for you this weekend.

Widget, mine wear a short sleeved vest (bodysuit) under a sleepsuit all day and all night (sometimes going unchanged (clothing not nappies!) for three days, sometimes going through five changes of clothes in a day!). Before DS1 was born I bought long sleeved vests to go underneath but soon realised it is impossible to get sleepsuit sleeves over bodysuit sleeves without them getting all rucked up and anyhow short sleeved is better. They are then swaddled in a cot blanket, so it is folded double so counts as two blankets. Am intending to move them into grobags in the next couple of weeks, now that they are big enough (well Fat Jake is anyway), as he is always wanting his arms free and "apparently" you should get them used to being unswaddled by about 6 weeks.

Omy hope you are feeling better soon. Bed and crap mags like Heat are definitely the best option. Just did my Tesco order and have put a couple of crap mags on for myself as they always help me nod off at lunchtime!

Egg · 09/02/2008 14:18

Oh, did ask this a while ago but it got lost in one of my loooong posts. Anyone been to Center Parcs and are they good? Have heard it is not worth going in school hols as too pricey but as DS1 is only nearly two we can go in June and it's not too bad. Any tips or recommendations?

And Beany, if only you lived nearby you could borrow the BB Active, see if it makes any difference, then try to get one on ebay or something. Will report back on Hug a Bub just as soon as I bother to unfold it and watch the instructional DVD .

Right, really ought to TURN OFF THE COMPUTER.

Egg · 09/02/2008 14:19

Ooops, sorry Slacker, doesn't sound like you quite got the birth you planned as you didn't get into the pool but at least it was over quickly and you sound very happy!

cosima · 09/02/2008 14:20

congrats slacker, and good luck pk. punctual baby huh, thats good. i am due today, no sign tho. how about you rozzy raspberry?

Egg · 09/02/2008 14:24

I think today seems a nice day for a baby. Lovely and sunny, not too cold .

Forgot to say, my mum and I took all three DCs out yesterday, so it meant I could push DS1 in his pushchair and my mum pushed DTs in their Powertwin, normally on nursery runs I have one strapped to me and nobody notices so much that I have twins. Anyway, we went into M&S and while I queued to pay my mum waited at the other end of the checkouts and she was approached NINE times by people asking "ooh twins, how old, are they identical, you've got your hands full etc etc". I was only queueing a couple of minutes . I told her to pretend she had done IVF and they were hers (she is 73 ).

rozzyraspberry · 09/02/2008 14:57

Congratulations slacker and good luck PK.

Lolo - it must be lonely being the only one on the Jan thread now. Must say I'm a bit surprised that you're the only one left with it only being 9th Feb - must of been a lot of quite punctual babies!!

Egg - We've been to center parcs a few times and the kids love it. More and more for them to do as they get older. Definitely not worth the money in school holidays as it is very pricey. Unfortuneately with ds1 starting school in August not sure if we'll get back or not (definitely not whilst I'm on mat leave and not earning much).

Cosima - happy due date to you! I actually thought at one point that I might have a due date baby. Had period like cramps all morning yesterday followed by a few hours of mild contractions. Then stopped. Had a bath around 5 and when I got out had more cramping and contractions but stopped before bedtime. Woke at 4 with regular contractions which lasted until around 7, and had quite bad diahhorrea (sorry TMI). Since lunchtime I've been feeling really crampy again and have had a few contractions. Also feeling constantly damp but there's not really anything there. So hopeful that things might happen over next few days. I have mw appointment on Monday when she said she would do a sweep so hopefully with all these twinges there's more chance of it being successful. Anyway will wait and see. Mum and dad have taken boys so I'm going to try and get some rest and enjoy a child free day. Going to have a nice spicy curry for tea if I feel up to it.

Hope everyone else is well!

Egg · 09/02/2008 15:17

Oooh good luck Rozzy if things happen soon . Thanks for feedback on Center Parcs too, which one did you go to? We would prob go to Longleat as means least amount of driving with three small ones, once who is prone to car sickness on hot days...

Also wanted to say, in your BOUNTY PACKS there is a voucher for £30 off an Epson photo printer. I decided to go for it as printer was only £70 initially so paid £40 in total, finally bothered to get it working today and it is great. Perfect for printing pics to send to people with baby announcements etc as you can print 4 to a page (normal photo size paper) and is good quality.

rozzyraspberry · 09/02/2008 15:33

Egg - We went to Oasis Whinfell as we live in Scotland. It was good but I think they'll all be pretty similar.

Sherida · 09/02/2008 15:33

SARAH CONGRATULATIONS (sorry for the delay) !!!!! I love that name.

TYCA yeah I've been having baby dreams too, in one baby was like a 6 month old, looking around and everything. In the other, I was premature so I called the hospital. They told me to just shove it back in!

Still nothing from me though, getting quite impatient and still people calling me every day to see if I've popped yet. Oddly enough, this includes my mum and dad, as though I'm not going to tell them the second I go into labour!

gingermumi · 09/02/2008 17:52

Happy saturday everyone!

haven't really had time to read posts properly but big congrats to slacker and Sarah.

Good luck pk.

Have a good weekend ladies! will try to find some time to read/post tomorrow or next week.

Egg · 09/02/2008 18:48

Sherida just seen you like Terry Goodkind, DH has read some of his books (a series I think) and was mad on them, went on and on and on about how great they were... not my cup of tea though .

DH is bathing DS1 at mo. DS1 been very up and down today and done lots of sobbing. He seems a bit better now after eating a piece of chocolate (all he has eaten all day apart from half a biscuit earlier, and a bite of breadstick).

I tried to crack open a bottle of cava just now but can't get the cork out, so have to wait for DH . Not celebrating anything, just that it is HALF PRICE at Tesco (Freixnet (sp) down to £4.99 at mo hurrah!).

pobletsmum · 09/02/2008 19:52

Congratulations Slacker!

Sounds promising rozzy. Hope you don't have much longer to wait.

No more news from pk - I guess she's busy getting that baby out!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/02/2008 20:11
