Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

ernest that hoppop bag is fantastic!

Parofleurmapu · 18/02/2008 17:31

Hello all spent day in bed surfing the net. Feeling flu like and have slight temperature, prob coming down with something or could be all the stress etc MIL is back in hospital and dont know if she will come out now and yesterday dp 's 69 year old aunt died in a fire in her flat caused by a cigarette. So sad...

but dp is coping very well and all our ups and downs seem to not be affecting baby who is madly kicking around. We did put up nursery furniture on sat which cheered us up and it looks real nice Will post pics later when can move out of bed.

Hope all goes well with you ktpie, dp has just brought me tea and choccie biscuits so heres one for all of you!! choc biccie

sophiewd · 18/02/2008 17:35

Oh Paro, your poor DP, thinking of you both.

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2008 17:48

omg Ernest, I love that bag too!! Is it available in UK. How expensive is £££££. Oh dear, here I go again...

Paro, so sorry to hear your news. Such sad news about dp's auntie especially. Hope you feel better soon.

dylansluckymum · 18/02/2008 18:46

ernest that bag is brilliant! i found it on one uk website here.

glad it's not just me at the end of my tether. feeling good now that dh is home, and kind of relieved that ds has been just as miserable since he got home so he doesn't think i'm just pregnant exaggerating!!

i know it's a phase and you have to roll with it but i'm just so, um, pregnant, i'm having a bit of trouble dealing i think. thanks for the tips deb and systemsaddict - i do try to roughly follow those guidelines but i need to be a bit more structured about it i think. mostly he throws fits about having to be in his pushchair and not be able to run away (i.e. do whatever he wants no matter the danger, etc.) so not much i can do about that really!

ktpie really sorry to hear about your tough weekend, i'm sure all's well with the baby though so that's the main thing! sounds like you got some good advice on the other thread.

going to take greenfairy's advice now and get in a bath. i love them because i can put my ears under the water and everything else disappears! plus the baby kicks loads and you can see your tummy jump.

ernest · 18/02/2008 18:54

that's cheaper than here.

I used to have a travel high chair but am delighted to say it must be amongst the stuff I gave/chucked away, so will have to buy one

paro, that's really terrible. so much bad stuff all at the same time. I'm so sorry.

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2008 19:20

I love that bag - have been strictly instructed to put together a list of gifts for family so might just put that on. Its amazing! Ernest - did you say you saw it in the shop? Does it look good in RL as a bag?

That's lifted my spirits momentarily.. Had a crap day at work for no particular reason, now feeling really irritable, angry and upset, again for no reason. I know its hormonal but I'm just feeling so rotten and I dont know how to lift my mood. Have warned DH but I hate being like this? Too cold and dark to go and walk it off - any suggestions?

Sorry, I know a few of you having real things to deal with at the moment..

Parofleurmapu · 18/02/2008 19:44

Thats ok bitofdramaqueen I would suggest sending someone out for large bar of dairy milk and then eating it with a cup of hot choc and some crappy tv!!

I too love the bag and wanted to ask ernest cause she has seen it 1. Is it heavy? 2. Does it hang over handle of pram7pushchair?

ernest · 18/02/2008 19:50

I'm going to drool further over bag on Thursday. it caught my eye before I realised it was also a high chair. I had a quick look at it and liked it. TBH it is smaller than your average changing bag, but I still think for me this would be OK, you get an ida how much you can get in it from you tube.

I will thoroughly inspect it on Thursday, plus try it out with a real live baby and report back if anyone's interested. fwiw, if it does turn out to be an ok size and on ok seat I'd recommend it, as had a travel high chair before and it came in very useful, but this even more so as it's also a bag so you'd have it with you anyway - was always a bit of a pain bringing along a great big bulky thing, so this would be ideal and save having to make another purchase in a few months.

Upsidedowncake · 18/02/2008 19:50

Hello everyone. Sorry people are having such a crap day.

Ktpie - what a scare. I had unexplained and inexplicable bleeding last time at 22 weeks. I hope you're doing OK.

Paro, sorry that you and DP's family are having a tough time. Thinking of you.

Ernest, love the bag. Re the pram, there are a number of websites, for example, www.ezbuy-usa.com/ which will ship things to Europe for you from the US. They allocate you a US postal address and then you pay them a fee and pay the VAT (or equivalent). I haven't tried it myself but i know people who have, and swear by it.

DLM, sorry you're having a tough time. Perhaps you should change your name to 'Dylan'stiredmum'!

josey · 18/02/2008 21:53

Hi everyone just had a quick read though

Makescakes hope you your DH and dog are all feeling better

ktpie hope your doing ok

Dylanslucky mum DD is being a nightmare and Im not dealing with it great my rag has been lost on several occassions I also have an 8 year old who is being the biggest pain in the rear end you could ever want.

Parofluer sorry to hear about dps mum and aunt thats really sad.

Debs bummer about the ticket I would send it to your flaky friend she might not notice its not meant of her

Sophie I 2nd you the choclate equals dd I hardly ate chocolate or puddings until pregnant with her

Horrible day here, had the builders back sorting things in the house made a right old mess, DHs gran fell and broke her wrist but has also been given tests in hospital and they have found something in her blood.

I have fallen down the stairs I went through the stairgate at the bottom buggered my back completely given myself whiplash, and although baby is still moving im having mild contractions and cramps so going to bed to see if I can rest and be ok in the morning.

Spent last night drinking gaviscon and retching with acid sick running up my nose everytime I got to sleep so any sleep tonight will be welcome.

Sorry seem to have added to the missery.

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2008 22:05

thanks paro - tried chocolate, tears, tv, ranting and raving. still feel rubbish. . My poor DH has really been suffering. Will hopefully wake up feeling bright and cheery tomorrow.

Josey, sorry to hear that you've had a lousy time - hope your back is ok soon.

PiggyPenguin · 19/02/2008 08:00

Hi all, and lets hope that Tuesday turns out to be a better day.

Josey - how are you feeling today? Hope you got lots of rest and that everything has calmed down.

My baby has been really quiet for the last 24hours and its freaking me out a bit. I know he's still quite small and I shouldn't expect to feel him all the time but I usually feel him more than this. Has anyone else had days without feeling movements around 23 weeks?

sophiewd · 19/02/2008 08:06

we have called ours Kevin because he is so inactive.

debinaustria · 19/02/2008 08:11

Josey - How are you this morning?

Sybil - could it be that your placenta has moved slightly and is cushioning the kicks - have you tried a soak in the bath - that normally gets my baby kick started! Let us know

Paro - sounds like your family are having a rough time of it, sending my best wishes

Ernest I like the bag too but too much £££.

bitofadramaqueen · 19/02/2008 08:27

Morning all, black cloud seems to have disappeared from above my head (much to DH's relief .

I'm 22 1/2 weeks and definitely still go through long periods with little movements. Hope he gives you a good kicking today .

Have a good day everyone.

bitofadramaqueen · 19/02/2008 08:28

Oh the kicking thing was for sybil - could have sworn I typed your name .

dylansluckymum · 19/02/2008 08:33

morning everyone! definitely feeling more positive today although ds had a terrible sleep (so i did too of course) but he seems to have woken up in a good mood so that's all that really matters. we have to wait for a delivery today i'm going to try to nap when he does. i'm not much of a napper though.

paro so to hear you've had so much bad news. when it rains it pours!

sybil i'm sure you have nothing to worry about, it's always sporadic early days. even when i was 37 weeks i didn't have movement for a couple days so went into hospital and all was well.

DQ here's to getting control over our rampant emotions today!!!

dylansluckymum · 19/02/2008 08:34

sorry to hear, no so! damn preg-brain.

dylansluckymum · 19/02/2008 08:34

not so. LOL!!!

aberdeenhiker · 19/02/2008 08:39

sybilvimes - try a glass of orange juice and a lie-down on the couch. That normally gets me kicks.

Sounds like this stage of pregnancy must be a tough one all round. I'm having painful Braxton Hicks - had one this morning and had to stop in shock! They're not like labour pains - i.e. I can stand these! but they're more painful than I remember with DS. Anyone else having these? Do I just have a low pain tolerance? (So much for my chances of not having an epidural this time).

DH left this morning for offshore which means I'm on nursery pick up and drop off all week - more time out of the office and I've deadlines! So I should probably stay away from MN until next week...

ernest · 19/02/2008 08:47

morning all.

tinkely was really active last night, more than ever, but then followed really bad nightmares about losing it for some reason.

ktpie, you feeling OK?

Deb - here's one for you, and anyone else really, but maybe more pertinent to us lot not in Uk. We're forever sending birthday cards late, cos forget/ sometimes takes a week, sometimes 4 days, or eg mother's day isn't at same time over here. blah blah. anyway, just seen this on another thread - you can order cards, customise them, personalise them & have them sent to you to write, or get message put in and sent direct, and not to ££ either. will be a life saver for us www.moonpig.com

ktpie · 19/02/2008 08:52

Paro - hope you are feeling better today, sorry to hear about your dp's family, it's awful when things like that all come at once.

Josey - how are you doing? Hope you are feeling better this morning.

Sybil - I was worried last night because usually the baby is most active in the evening and I didn't feel it at all, I think when I am wanting it to move it thinks it's funny to have a kip instead! This morning it is kicking away!

Ernest - that bag does look great, how bulky and heavy did it seem in real life? I've seen the more simple just a bit of material that fits over the back of a chair type things but I guess they won't be suitable for really small kids.

Thanks everyone for your support, I am feeling fine today, have a midwife appointment this afternoon so I will ask her advice. Plus I'm going to ring the hospital this morning and demand they give me my colposcopy appointment, I'm hoping I won't have to wait long for it!

ernest · 19/02/2008 09:00

ktpie, don't remember it being particularly bulky or heavy. at 1st, ie with baby you can just use it without the hard insert anyway I you wanted, then it's just a bag, tho the insert is probably still useful to protect contents from bashes. will look in more detail on Thurs.

BTW used to have one of those cloth ones and it ws really rubbish. You could only use it with certain chairs (not foling, not too high/wide back etc etc) and you could guarantee the chair you were using wouldn't be suitable. Really. I binned mine.

deb, I know it's expensive, but travel high chairs usually are, and they're useful but extra bulk/stuff to remember to bring, so I might go mad. Anyway, seeing it alongside other changing bags like bugaboo - £75!!! it suddenly seemed more reasonable.

ktpie · 19/02/2008 09:55

yeah I guess the cloth ones will only work on chairs of the right size and shape, you will have to let us know how you get on!
