I've just looked on my notes and I've got an appointment for a dietican next week. I've had my scan yesterday and they didn't mention anything. Hight and weight normal my bmi is 25.1. Does everyone have this?

I don't know if I am being optimistic, but I am due 14 July and last day in the office will be 7th July. My thoughts behind this, is if i'm 10 day - 14 days late, thats already 3 weeks of my MAT leave. I have an office job and only go in 2 days a week - probs 1 nearer the time so hopefully it will be manageable.

I’m due on the 8th July and I will be working until the end. I asked for a Caesarian when I was around 8 weeks, but I haven’t received any further information.

Anyone had any pain in their legs? My upper thigh around the front and side is agony :(

With my first I worked up until due date, and while it feels a long time ago so I can’t quite remember how I felt, I do remember saying to friends that I should have taken a week off to rest beforehand. I’m in Ireland now and it’s law that you are off 2 weeks ahead of due date.

Butterfliesandroses · 05/01/2023 14:41

I am conflicted on how to use mat leave. Last time I booked mat leave for my due date and used my full year's entitlement of annual leave before that (so about 5 weeks, 100% recommend this if you can do it). I gave birth 2 days early so they automatically bring your mat leave forward and I lost those 2 days annual leave (forever bitter about it 😂, every second of annual leave counts lol).

This time I was thinking of taking maternity leave a bit earlier in case baby is early again. But also because I'd like to spend quality time with my daughter before her life changes forever! X

dunkedbiscuit · 05/01/2023 15:20

Last time I took 3 weeks annual leave before mat leave but baby came 2 weeks early! So was very glad I did! This time I’ll prob take 2 weeks leave and start mat leave on due date.

rach971 · 05/01/2023 15:57

I asked about a cesarean too at my booking appointment. Midwife said they don't make a decision on that until you're about 32 weeks. It was 30 something weeks anyway.

rach971 · 05/01/2023 15:57

@PinkPink1 Sorry, my last comment was in reply to you, apparently it didn't tag you 🙈

GGxxx · 05/01/2023 17:42

I would just see how you feel personally last time I told work I would work until the Friday I was due on the Monday and ended up having the baby a month early going into labour at work I had felt off for weeks before I should of listened to my body! If work are flexible just see how you feel at the time :) xx

32 weeks! Wow. I wish they would tell us more than simply ‘just wait and see how you feel later.’

rach971 · 05/01/2023 19:18

@PinkPink1 Yeah. She said it's absolutely fine if I want a cesarean (I'd read that some hospitals/midwives try and dissuade you from it). But she said if I did end up deciding I want a vbac then they can give me info on that too. But that they don't make a final decision with you until 30 something weeks.

Ballygowenwater · 05/01/2023 20:48

@rach971 granted I’m in a different country but the systems are quite similar and I think the guidelines are here are based off the UK. Ive been told that they have to give me all the information regarding VBAC and elective section, but that I will be offered a section if that’s what I want once have had all the info.

I don’t know how your previous section went but I was also told that when you are VBAC that the are always prepared to move to section much much quicker than if you’ve not had one before. Essentially if Labour doesn’t progress as it should they will go straight to section rather than letting you struggle for a length of time- my last Labour was 36 hrs and she was back to back and got stuck. She basically said there is no way I’ll have to go through that again no matter what I chose to start off with.

bubble55 · 06/01/2023 18:45

I completed my maternity application at work today! Due 1st July and last day is 23rd 😂 obviously I can amend this if I wish but last time I finished two weeks early and baby was a week overdue so I had 3 weeks at home bored when I’d rather have that 3 weeks once the baby has arrived! I think work sounds easier than being at home with a toddler and 38 weeks pregnant too 😂

dunkedbiscuit · 07/01/2023 09:39

@bubble55 ha ha I think you may be right there! 😂

GGxxx · 07/01/2023 10:48

How’s everyone coping with the shift in symptoms? I still feel extremely tired and sick in the evenings but sometimes don’t feel pregnant at all! Almost 14 weeks now 💕

clouise30 · 10/01/2023 15:49

@thelma57 it's definitely been a real shift! Was excited to feel seen energy coming back and less waves of sickness but instead in the past week been hit with some really crap pelvic pain which has pretty much floored me! Apparently there's a hormone released between 13-14 weeks so start opening everything up and wow has it! Who said pregnancy was fun hey 😂? On the positive though I'm 95% sure I've started to feel the odd tiny tiny barely noticeable movement!

How are you feeling? X

clouise30 · 10/01/2023 15:53

@thelma57 you did say 😂🤦🏼‍♀️! Loosing the plot I'm sure!

Hopefully evening sickness will ease off soon for you! With my first it was until about 18/19 weeks but only when I brushed my teeth! X

Butterfliesandroses · 10/01/2023 17:57

@thelma57 I'm almost 15 weeks and to be honest I barely know I'm pregnant since about 13 weeks. It's nice to have the sickness gone but worrying at the same time. Although, like @clouise30 I think I've felt some tiny (could be mistaken) movements, which is lovely. Can't wait for them to be consistent so i know for sure. Mostly at night or in the bath x

eleveneleven11 · 10/01/2023 18:26

@thelma57 i've been thinking about this. i'm 15 weeks today and the last week or so i've gone back to the gym and have been feeling so normal - kept feeling a little sad that i didn't feel pregnant at all!

but today i've had a few waves of sickness where i've needed to lie down and i've tried to do some jobs around the house after work and keep getting dizzy. feeling super tired.

at least it's given me a bit of reassurance that i'm still growing a tiny human haha

Lizmw · 10/01/2023 21:07

Has anyone heard of paced bottle feeding??

dunkedbiscuit · 10/01/2023 21:16

@Lizmw Is that where you hold the bottle sideways with teat half full of milk so baby has to suck more for the milk, rather than it just free flowing from the bottle into their mouth?

Lizmw · 10/01/2023 21:24

@dunkedbiscuit yes it is. This is my first baby so reading up on lots
